Using banked points by 7/31/01

I have just signed the contract to purchase a resale at OKW for 160 pts. The sale includes 65 points banked from '99 which have to be used by 8/01/01. Since I haven't even received the paperwork and I'm anxious to learn, can I rent these points out? Or is it feasible to trade them to an II destination, specifically Newport, RI. Any infor. would be appreciated, this board is great and helped me convince my DH to purchase DVC. Thanks :eek:

Once the points are in your name you should be able to do any of those things. I don't think that you will able to do anything until then though.

I don't think you can do anything until you are the actual owner of the points. To use them outside of a DVC resort you will have to make a reservation by 5/31 (60 days prior to the end of your Use Year)to be completed by 7/31. 65 points is probably not enough to do a trade for Newport in the summer. You usually need at least enough for a week in a one bedroom. It is enough to give you one or two nights in some of the Concierge Collection selections.
