Does anyone know where I can buy a telephoto lens for my Canon 5sis??? I never bought a lens for it and I'm finding that I need to be able to zoom more for say a school play or assembly. Nothing outrageous. I'm having problems finding anything say at a site like Beach Camera.

You mean the S5 IS? You can't really by a lens for it like you would a DSLR. You can buy an adapter and attachments for the existing lens. Check B&H, Amazon or even directly form Canon.

Keep in mind that anything you add like that will slow down your shutter speed (longer lens=more light needed) so while using the 1.5x teleconverter to get more reach might sound good in theory... the practical applications of that are more than likely going to be somewhat limited to outdoors in the middle of a bright afternoon.

The 12x zoom the S5 has is equal to 432mm.... that's more reach than most of us have with our DSLR's.

I did a quick Google search for your camera, the Canon PowerShot S5 IS, and I found the Canon Web site for your particular camera. It lists all the accessories that are available for your camera, including the TC-DC58B Teleconverter Lens. Apparently, you can buy the teleconverter lens directly from the Canon Web site. Here's the link to the Canon Web page for your camera: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=144&modelid=15207#SNAModelSuppliesAct

I also did a quick Google search for "TC-DC58B", the model number for the teleconverter lens. Google lists several retailers that sell this teleconverter lens: http://www.google.com/products?q=TC-DC58B&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=e0XzS57KL4ykswO_5vSIDA&sa=X&**=product_result_group&ct=title&resnum=3&ved=0CEEQrQQwAg

Hope that helps. :)

many of the add-on lens for superzoom cameras do not work so well, before you buy a teleconverter lens for the S5 look at this user group -
