I don't want to hold anyone up but when I start out in the morning - rushing to walk very fast if very hard for me. Once I'm going I'm fine. Just have never had it looked at by a doctor but was told it is probably in relation to shin splints from sports because I never stretched very well. Will I be alone in this??? I really don't want to be the lowly woman out and I definitely don't want to hold others up. But like I said - once I get going and my muscles are warmed up...then watch out!!!!! ROFL

I'm the opposite. I hit the pavement running...but by the end of the day--or mid-day/nap time :o I slow down.
Last year, there were always so many of us that we never moved anywhere too fast. LOL I don't think any one person will feel left behind. ;)

Nothing to worry about Chris, last year our motto was Less talking, more walking!

We would get a little busy chatting and forget to keep moving!!!:p :p

The nice thing is, we are in no hurry. We all wantt o do stuff in the parks, but the friendships are what is important!

I remember Jody saying on a number of occasions:

"We are not talking, we are moving, we are walking, walking, walking..." :p

This year I'm bringing a pedometer along.

Where's John? He will back me up!

It often took us a little while to get to our destination, didn;t it!
But this year, I will be lingering in the back!

The common phrases last year were:
Less talking, more walking...

We're walking, we're walking...

I'm a slow walker, too, but I had no trouble keeping up last year - even on Barry Hom's thrillride tour!

We've already started to go out walking around our condo complex to get in shape for this. I don't want to tire out too early in the day to have any fun! :earseek:

Chris,
DOn't worry, we all walk at different paces and the "speedies" just get someplace first and wait for us "slower" folk!

I go as fast as my little wheels will carry me. Wanna race?

Just keep out of my way on the hills, as several DISers can attest I can fly.

For me I will be getting into shape before I go but I did some damage playing sports on my legs and it just starting takes a bit. Doesn't matter how in shape I am or how much walking I do before hand, it's the same all the time! Thanks

It's not that I'm a slow walker, my legs are so short I can never keep up!!! I'll walk with you, Chris!

Hi, Chris. I was very worried about the same thing last year, but as everyone said, we all did great and everyone was so kind. No one will leave you behind. These DIses are some pretty kind, big hearted people, let me tell you. You won't find better friends anywhere.

Sincerely, Ray :D
