View Full Version : Ticket Problem

Update: This problem was handled very quickly by Ticketmania. Many users, including myself have had a great experience with them. I didn't see the customer service phone number on the website which I should have called immediately. I'd highly recommend them for your ticket purchases!

Any ideas on what do do here? I purchased some park hopper tickets from ticketmania.com last month. They worked for a day, but this morning when we got to the AK an employee told us to wait for a minute.

A few minutes later a security guard escorted us to a room where he told us the tickets were not new and had been used before. He had me sign an affidavit and gave me a case number. He said they report all fraudulent ticket sales to the local sherrifs department, but there was nothing else he could do.

So do I purchase new park hoppers here, risking that I may not get my money back from ticketmania.com? I paid with my credit card, so I can always work through the credit card company.

The down side is that we are only here for two more days, so purchasing a four day pass may be a waste. I could buy individual park passes but then I couldn't visit all of the parks.

Can't help you but thanks for the info....I had a friend purchase tickets from Ticket mania.com for his trip next March....I will definately take them with us when we go in Oct and check to see if they are valid.....wouldn't want him to ruin his one and only trip to WDW because his tickets are invaild.....

Hope everything works out for you....good thing you paid by CC.....I think the ticket office can tell you the dates and times they were used....I would get this information so you can use it when you talk to ticketmania.....

If you're staying at a Disney Resort, I would see if you could purchase an UPH for the remainder of your stay. You'll pay for stuff you won't use, but it'll be cheaper than a 4 day, and allow you to park hop.

Good luck. I'm amazingly nervous about my tickets now!!!

In digging through Ticketmania's site, I found the customer service manager's cell phone number. It says only in absolute emergencies, and I would say your situation qualifies as such.

I know you said you only have two days, but just in case here are their other numbers:

Question: He said they were not new and were used before. How did they know it was not you who had used them the last time. I have a 6 day PH and if I were to use only 4 days and say go back a couple of months later, would this not be the same senerio? Am I missing something here? I would guess they have many tickets each and every day where folks have used a portion of a ticket only to return at a later date to use the rest of it..??..smjj

I would assume that the poster didn't post every detail and told the gate attendant that he had bought under the impression that it was new.

I didn't assume anything, but I can't help but think we don't know everything about this situation. I hope no one reads this thread and panics. I also hope that this was a legitimate post - the OP is relatively new to the DIS. (That doesn't mean he/she isn't a legitimate poster, but I do think we need to withhold judgement on Ticketmania until more is known).

This is the first post I can recall about a problem with tickets purchased through Ticketmania. There have been multiple posts that say tickets from this source have been used with no problems and that this is a good way to purchase WDW discount tickets. Mousesavers lists them as a legitiamte broker of new, UNUSED tickets. Mousesavers also says that they have a satisfactory record with the BBB. Mary Waring's MouseSavers newsletter even promotes special Ticketmania ticket offers.

I am anxious to learn what happens when rupprath contacts Ticketmania. Hope he/she posts again. Ticketmania is not known for selling partially used tickets - it's actually against the law to do that, even if the buyer knows the tickets are partially used.

Carol, you're probably correct. Your post eased my mind somewhat. But this was what I was worried about when I purchased from Ticketmania, and it just made those fears resurface.

I'm neurotic! What can I say! LOL! :)

Yes, this news here could start a panic, let's hope this is an isolated incident. I too, am nervous now and I bought mine from connections, but i used connections last year for 4 straight days w/no problems. I am nervous because this year I not only purchased for myself, but for my sister and family as well for a total of 9 WDW park hoppers and 4 Universal 2 day passes.

Well I am nervous. This could cause my husband to not want to trust me with my "deals" again..LOL I just got ours in the mail. Is there anyway for us to call Disney and ask them to see if these tickets are valid BEFORE we go?

BTW, to the original poster, I would call my credit card company and tell them to cancel payment to Ticketmania until this was resolved.

I bought my tickets from Ticketmania via Mousesavers-used them in June-NO PROBLEMS. Leaving in a week to use the remaining days. I say don't panic.

Sorry for not posting more details. I read about ticketmania here and saw many good reviews for them which is why I bought the tickets from them even though they were cheaper on other sites. I'm also assuming this is an honest mistake, however that doesn't help me much because they were closed today. Here are some more details:

I bought tickets online from ticketmania in July. I purchased two four day park hoppers, two one day universal passes, and two Disney Quest tickets.

We used the park hoppers on day one with no problems except that one wouldn't scan. A quick trip to guest services fixed this problem with a replacement card. We used the park hoppers again with no problem the following day. We also used the Disney Qwest tickets the following evening without any problems.

On our third day (this morning) we went to AK and tried to use the tickets. They didn't scan so I assumed that we had the same problem as day one. The employee at the gate read the tickets in the machine and told us they scanned, but that all the days were used.

I told them we had just purchased the tickets and only used two days, which is when they called security. We were escorted to the security area and asked questions about the tickets. The security officer explained to us that we had been sold four day park hoppers with only two days left on them.

He gave us the dates the tickets had been used and where. The visits we made checked out, however there were two visits from last year that we couldn't have possibly made.

The security officer said this happens quite a bit and believed us when we said it wasn't our intention to use bad tickets. He had me fill out an affidavit asking questions on where we purchased them, etc. He also gave me a case number.

They made photocopies of my identification, cards, etc. and stamped VOID on my tickets. He told me that since I paid via a credit card I would probably be allright.

I've only read positive reviews of ticketmania to this point, so again I assume this is an honest mistake. Unfortunately this does nothing to help me.

I don't know for sure, but I'm assuming that ticketmania purchases unused park hoppers, lumps them together and then resells them. Perhaps they made a mistake when preparing mine.

We bought some one day passes for Disney for today and tomorrow. I left a message for ticketmania today and will dispute the park hopper portion of the charge. I'll pay for the Disney Quest and Universal tickets (Hopefully the universal passes I bought will work!).

I hope this provides enough detail. If not, let me know and I'll answer any specific questions.

PANIC? DID SOMEONE SAY PANIC????

I just ordered 2/4 day hopper passes for 196.00 each, awaiting them in the mail. We leave on the 30th of August. I told my sister about it who is going with us for the 1st time and she is awaiting hers in the mail as well.

So now am I supposed to come up with an extra 400.00 to take with me in case my tickets dont work????????? I dont have time to do that and pay my WL lodging. Oh no!!

My husband is going to be so upset when I tell him this. Im with KJMAX1, he wont trust my "cheaper deal" bargains again. And is there any way we can call Disney and double check first?

Too late, I am in a panic. BIG TIME. :(    :(

Well I called Disney tonight, the CM told me there is no way to check even at a Disney Store until we finally get there. She said though with a good BBB standing we shouldnt be too concerned because they just closed down a ton of fake passes places. So off we go with our tickets, and if they dont work, I will call my Credit card company immediately, and cancel my payment to them, and purchase new tickets. But once I get there I am having them check immediately for how many days and passes we have so I can be sure I have all my days I paid for. IF I DO NOT have my days, I am going to rent a car, and DRIVE to Ticketmania, and talk directly to them. Sounds like an honest mistake, but unfortunately when I called them last week to find out where my tickets were, nobody answered. I will call Monday, and talk to them about what to do if my tickets end up in this situation.

Believe me, it wil be settled in FL or else....

Don't panic just yet! Let's be fair here... Ticketmania probably doesn't even know about the problem yet, and won't until they get into the office tomorrow. It's unfortunate this happened on a weekend when they weren't open.

I'll try to work it out with Ticketmania first, and dispute the charges on my credit card if need be. I'm going to ask that the park hopper portion of my purchase be refunded (Not usable, and wasting one day of my vacation). I'm going to pay for the Disney Quest tickets and Universal Tickets. Does this seem fair?

Right now I'm the only one in trouble with my significant other for getting these "Deals" let's try to keep it that way!

I'm signing off to enjoy the rest of my vacation. I'll send an update on Tuesday or Wednesday when I get back and let everyone know how Ticketmania handled the situation.

But it will take the credit card company several days to credit back the account right? I too will take my butt down to ticketmania in a car and get my cash back right there, or get me new tickets. No, better yet, I WANT CASH BACK.
Oh man, im still in a panic. I just told my husband and he is not happy with this, or me for that matter. That is what I get for saving a dollar or two. :(

Too funny. I think we will be alright. They dont sound like a fly by night place, but it is odd that they would say the tickets had been used before. I wonder if the OPs tickets looked like they had been used.

Well we live in WA so they werent really late, they just took a week and a half and a lot of people have been saying they have been getting them within a week. I was calling just to make sure mine werent lost or something, but they came in the regular old mail with a ton of vacation coupon books.

08-11-2002, 09:11 PM
One more thing... I wish I had seen that cell phone number earlier today. It would have come in really handy, but in my haste I must have glazed over it when reading their site.

I didn't want to waste any more of our vacation so I bought the one day ticket for this evening and will use the Universal passes tomorrow morning and a one day ticket for tomorrow evening.

In other news, crowds are surprisingly good here this week. The lines were much less than I expected, but this is my first trip in about 15 years so I have nothing to compare it to. We did the E-Ticket deal on Friday night and it was great. There were still lines for the first thirty minutes of E-Ticket in Tomorrowland so we went to The Haunted Mansion and the train type roller coaster. When we returned there were very few people in line and we rode everything we wanted until 1:00 AM!

BamaTigger:

1.) Breathe.
2.) Relax.

:)

Before you start getting into COMPLETE panic, look at the back of the ticket when they arrive. There is a date printed on it.

It should read something like this: WTS:006 06/03/02

That date is the date that the pass was printed on. The original poster stated that the dates his passes were used was a year ago, if I remember correctly.

Then, take a look at your receipt. It will tell you the day that you placed your order.

For one of my passes, the order was placed on 6/8/02, and the pass was printed on 5/29/02. For the other, the order was placed on 7/3/02, and the pass was printed on 7/1/02.

There's no way that anybody could have used them in that short time span. If there's a HUGE difference in date, then I would just E-Mail Ticketmania.

This, coupled with all of the GREAT reviews of Ticketmania have put me at ease.

For one order, the tickets arrived less than a week from when I placed the order. The other arrived a week and a day after I placed the order. If you've waited more than a week and a half, then E-Mail them.

Hey guys--
When I was first purchasing my tickets from connections last summer, I was very paranoid and so I wrote Disney an email asking about connections, they said they were not familiar with the company but maybe just not with the name "connections", that maybe they buy from disney under another name (which they do as their parent company is Member Works) Anyway, the way Disney answered my question was weird, like they didn't want to admit that they do indeed sell tickets to outside companies that sell for less than Disney does. Now last year I was so paranoid when we got to the gates and had to use our tickets, in fact each time I was paranoid, through the whole trip. But we had no problems at wdw or at US/IOA....but yet this year that paranoia returned, but I did order from connections again...this time I got 4 day php's since we have 1 day and a plus left from last years tickets, now I am paranoid about using last years tickets....I think next year I am just gonna buy through disney with DC and not have to go through all this anxiety! I too, will be worried, even though i didn't buy through ticketmania (which I almost did) ..I am always worried Disney is going to pull the plug on these outside vendors and not let anyone know til we get to the gate and get turned away. I just pray for all of us to be ok with all our non disney ticket purchases.....

The retailers do get them at a discount. If you read through Ticketmania's site it explains that they purchase the tickets wholesale from Disney, and thus they get a reduced rate, and then they sell them at those rates.

Hope that helps! :)

SnackyStacky,
You are the voice of reason here, thank you. The hopper I purchased for my daughter reads 8/1/02 . I ordered it on 8/3/02 and received it on 8/7/02.
Ticketmania has been in business for a very long time and I doubt greatly that they would intentionally bilk anyone.

Ok Panic does not describe the state that I am in right now!!!!
Over the weekend I too ordered a 7day park hopper pass for my son. My friend ordered 2 7 day children passes and 4 passes for 3 days for ioa/us. Her bill was $900. Here I am telling her to buy them at tickemania.
I am in a panic. We leave next Wed. The tickets are supposed to be at the hotel upon check in.
Can we check the tickets before actually going into the park. Does the hotel have some type of scanner to see how many days are left???
Lets all keep our fingers crossed that we all get good tickets.

Assuming you are staying at a Disney hotel - yes when you check in just have them check the tickets for you - otherwise you can do it at a guest services.

Andychris14--IM WITH YA! Just think to yourself it will be ok. IT WILL BE OK.

Is a couple dollars worth the aggravation? NO WAY Kallison. Not to me. I only saved 7.00 a person buying these passes on ticketmania. I thought it would be nice to go ahead and have my passes paid for when I got to WDW, but next time I will buy at my resort like I always do. Less stress. :(:(

Whether or not the savings are worth it can depend on the type of pass purchased. I normally don't buy through an outside vendor, but Ticketmania's recent deal of a Park-Hopper Plus 5-day pass with four options for the price of the same pass with only two options was too good to pass up. The positive experiences of past DIS posters with Ticketmania put my mind at ease.

FYI: my tickets arrived the first week in August and were date stamped 7/25/02 and 7/30/02 (kids and adults tickets).

I would say - if anything - you might be dealing with one or two employees at their company who ran a scam. With so many positive experiences with this company, it's likely this is a reflection of isolated incidents and not the company norm.

If one worked for a company like that - and was of the mindset - one could probably figure out a way to switch used hoppers for new hoppers and make money on it somehow, or simply, always have tickets to the park by recycling hoppers. I've learned anything is possible if someone has the mindset to steal.

Either the employee has been caught - so when they are contacted about this they are going to apologize and immediately make reparation...or they are still going to make amends and begin an internal investigation.

Taking SnackyStacky's advice and checking the print date on the tickets will assure you they are OK in the meantime, and think positive that the OP might have just caught someone in the act and saved many future purchasers a lot of problems, and if the company proves reputable, saved the business from a lot of damage due to lost consumer confidence.

Having deal with a lot of internal and external retail theft situations, I just wanted to point out that this could be one bad employee and not a bad company.

seashoreCM
08-12-2002, 09:26 AM
So long as WDW security doesn't give you a hard time (other than denying you entry to the park) they can get valuable information from you to track down the source of the bad passes. If they get lots of reports of the bad apsses coming from Ticketmania, they will narrow down their investigation in taht direction.

If your tickets were bad, you have to buy more tickest at the gate exactly as if you never bought any in advance in the first place. Usually you have to wait for the credit card bill to arrive before disputing the payment with them but you can write to Ticketmania immediately after you get home if not sooner.

I probably wouldn't go through the trouble of driving to Ticketmania's offices in person.

Save your receipts even when buying tickets directly from Disney. It is easy for a dishonest employee to slip a used pass into somebody's mail order or even a ticket booth transaction and pocket a brand new pass for personal use.

Over the years we have had a few tickets coded wrong from the parks, and we either supplied repalacment tickets or refunded the customer. This has happend to a total of 10 tickets in 6 years...

Copied this post by msprite from another thread. Didn't want anyone here to miss it!

Just spoke with Ticket Mania
The lady that I spoke with this morning was really nice. She was also very frank in saying that she has no idea what happened because she has not spoken with the individual that had the problem with his tickets. She said that this is the first time anyone has ever had a problem like this. She also said that they buy their tickets from businesses that have contracts directly with Disney. If what happened is true she said that not only will they refund the purchase price of the tickets but any out-of-pocket expenses that one may incur as a result. She really put my mind at ease. I haven't been to Disney in years and I would hate to have a problem with the Tickets I ordered from them.

p.s. I called them about 9:30 this morning and they called back less than thirty minutes later.

Here's a link to the thread for those interested:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=247143

Based on this post and the email that SnackyStacky received, it sure looks like Ticketmania will resolve the original poster's problem in a satisfactory manner. There doesn't appear to be any reason for anyone else to believe there will be a problem with the tickets they have purchased from this company. Those of you who are in the panic mode can take a deep breath and try to relax! :)

In defense of Ticketmania-I pushed the wrong button when buying the park hoppers with the x-tra plusses(special from mousesavers) and got charged an extra $5.00. I called and they sent a refund with the tickets even though it was my mistake. I think this is a stand up company.

I must admit I am a little nervous, but like I said before it just might have been a computer error. What I do know is we saved a TON of money. We ordered two 6 day passes, which came with 4 pluses. That means we can use one each this time, and save the rest for next time. We paid the exact same price as we would have from Disney, minus 12.00 each, and got 4 pluses. That means we saved over 200.00 for the future.

I really hope that this company comes through for the OP because I know how sressful something like this could be on vacation.

I also hope this company does come through because I would like to keep saving like this for years to come.

Update: I got back from Universal this morning and my tickets worked fine. I had two messages from Ticketmania waiting for me and when I called they knew exactly who I was (read: this doesn't happen often).

The guy I spoke with told me they purchase in large batches and this had happened once before, but they've literally purchased thousands of tickets without any problem. He said it was most likely a problem when they got the ticket from Disney.

Ticketmania is going to credit me for the whole park hopper (I still paid for the Disney Quest and Universal, but this is what I requested). This seems fair to me because even though I had to spend around $210 for one day passes I still got credit for the park hoppers which were $392.

I need to send them in the voided tickets and the Disney case number so they could track them down with Disney and figure out what happened.

For those of you questioning whether the discounts are good enough, consider this:

1) If you order them in advance it may help you budget better by paying a month or two in advance.

2) $20 savings per person isn't a terribly large amount, but it's a dinner, or two lunches, etc.

3) If you order in advance then you can bypass the ticket purchase line when you get there. This was the major reason I ordered. You can also purchase E-Nights when you get to your hotel (Assume Disney resort hotel)

For those of you asking about the dates printed on my tickets: Mine also had very recent dates.

So assuming ticketmania does credit my credit my account (I believe they will), I'm a happy man. I've done damage control with my significant other and ticketmania is making good on their side.

In other news, Universal Islands of Adventure was great this morning. The park was close to empty until around noon and we were able to ride as many times as we wanted with no lines until the crowds filled in.

Ok, I had to send ticketmania a email. They sent me a speedy response. As you will see the grammer is horrible. Not that I am a grammer teacher or anything. The response was:
Hello, my name is Anita I am customer service manager. I do not know what happened we do not deal in used tickets never have I have not talked to the person yet I did try to call could not get through to him its just a mix up I think this is just a fluke sometimes this happens not very often we are with the BBB you call call them if you wish.
At least they answered me and from hearing from them and all of you I feel a lot more relaxed.

rupprath I want to commend you on your manner in which you handled this situation. You provided the facts yet did not rant and rave about your dilema and did not bad mouth ticketmania. I hope that your vacation was still magical even though you had to deal with the headache of figuring out what was going on. Once again Bravo on your attitude and actions.

For what you'd pay on shipping to the UK, I would just save the shipping money and spend a few more dollars at your resort or at the gate and buy the ticket there.

However, if you want to have them before you leave, then use Ticketmania. They clearly state that the passes are 100% guaranteed, so if anything does go wrong, you're assured a replacement.

Without hesitation.

I've never had any trouble using them and don't anticipate any problem in the future. I'm guessing this was just a fluke mistake.

I too was very impressed with the way the original poster handled this. If she had followed other posters examples (not in this thread) she would have been threatening to sue them or demanding a free trip due to "Stress" over this. Bravo to the original poster!

I agree. I dont regret not ONE BIT buying my tickets from them. This was just one mistake that was handled very well and taken care of.

And see---I was the one in a state of panic!!

I feel much better and not worrying about my tickets at all. :)

BAMATIGGER IS HAPPY AGAIN!:p

Thank you for posting your experiences! It's good to know Ticketmania is a stand up company. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

I'm glad Bamatigger is happy again :)

I'd recommend them. Remember, every company will have a problem from time to time. It's how they deal with the problem which is important.

A large number of people from this forum have purchased their tickets from Ticketmania, and this was the first time we've ever heard of any type of issue. Ticketmania was very quick in correcting this as soon as they found out about it, and I'm very happy with the way they handled everything.

Remember you can always take the customer service cell phone number with you and they do have a local office in Orlando.

I'd also like to add another reason to my list of why you should order with them:

If you order your tickets ahead of time you will have plenty of time to make a photocopy of the tickets (Front and Back). If you happen to lose the park hoppers at Disney and you have the numbers on the back then you'll be able to get a replacement at guest services. Remember that you'll be pulling the tickets out quite freqently for FastPass and they could get lost.

So here is my brief trip report

Thursday - We arrive in Orlando in the late evening around 11:30 PM. I pick up my rental car at the terminal and we make our way to the Wyndham Palace. Check in and hit the sack for an early start in the morning.

Friday - We were lazy and slept in a bit, but were on the go by 9:00 AM. We went to Epcot for the morning. It wasn't too crowded except for Test Track where we used FastPass. The Maelstorm was closed, but everything else I wanted to see was open. We left around 2:00 and went back to the hotel to rest. We got up, went to dinner and then to MK, arriving around 7:00 PM. Most visitors were getting lined up to see the parade so we were able to ride most of the attractions with little or no wait up until the closing at 10:00 PM. This was an E-Ticket night, and we had purchased E-Ticket admission so we were allowed to stay. Space Mountain was very crowded at the begining of E-Ticket so we went over to the Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, and the Train type roller coaster. We returned afterward and rode Space Mountain twice with a very short wait. We then rode all of the other attractions in Tomorrowland and had a blast staying until 1:00 AM.

Saturday - We got an early start and headed to MGM. I'm glad we did the MK the night before because it looked like most people were headed to MK that day. The park opened at 9:00 AM and we didn't see any wait until around noon. We played the Fastpass perfectly for the rides and were lucky to get into the shows without having to wait. We left around 2:00 PM and went back to the hotel to rest. After resting we arrived at Downtown Disney around 5:00 PM and went to Disney Quest. There were a lot of kids there and it was pretty crowded. I'm glad we got the discount tickets for this one and didn't pay full price because we didn't stay long. We had dinner at Wolfgang Pucks and checked out the stores in DTD. We saw the 9:00 showing of Cirque de Soleil and it was very good. I've seen the Quidam show locally here in Dallas and the "O" show in Vegas and I liked this one as well. We had great seats in the last row of the lower section in the dead middle. I believe these are the best seats in the place because patrons in the seats right up front have to look up to see the act. I came back from getting a drink to find the "Warm Up" act had chosen my girlfriend as their target!

Sunday - Got up early and went to Animal Kingdom. No lines until about 1:00. We decided to get our hand stamped because we bought the one day passes and wanted to return in the afternoon. In the evening we chose to see a movie at DTD

Monday - In the morning we went to Universal Islands of Adventure. The park wasn't busy at all until around 12:00. In the first two hours we probably rode every attraction we wanted to see. In the afternoon it was raining and we chose to go to Epcot to use our one day pass and see everything we missed on the first day.

Tuesday - Checked out in the early AM, back to the airport, and on our way back home.

We'll be back next year!

Glad to see your problems didnt spoil your holiday rupprath.

I have to admit I was a little worried, as I was about to order our Flextickets from Ticketmania. I shall now go ahead and order them,. As we go in just over 2 weeks I will arrange for them to be delivered direct to my hotel.

By the way, Ticketmania do not charge for shipping, even to UK.

This makes their prices a good deal for us.

We used our 5 day park hopper with 4 plusses last week with no problems. Sometimes problems or flukes happen. Ticketmania resolved the conflict promptly. I would still use them.

By purchasing my tickets (for a group of 10) from either ticketmania or flordiaticketsinc, I'm saving about $120.

I've read almost 100 percent satisfied experiences from these two places. Is the "peace of mind" feeling I get from buying directly from Disney (and Universal) worth $120?

NOPE!!!!!!

Just think of all the Mickey bars and turkey legs you can get for $120!!!

I posted on this a couple of weeks ago. There were a couple of news articles on www.wftv.com and www.orlandosentinel.com where there were a lot of arrests made in this scam. You can search my postings and read the post and link to it.

Ticketmania is NOT a scam. They are a legitimate ticket broker, and have a contract with Disney to sell discounted tickets.

The article you linked to has nothing to do with Ticketmania.
