I did! We celebrated my niece's First Communion & my dad's 85th Birthday last Saturday. It was a beautiful day & we had a good time.

Today's our 42nd anniversary, and DH is in TX for work. BUT...we were on a RCCL 3 night cruise. It went to Nassau and their private island, Coco Cay! I know 3 nights isn't much, but it's what we could squeeze in, my school is still in session, and DH is out of vacation time.

I love to snorkel, and in Nassau, off a boat, it was FABULOUS! I've been to the same area in March and November, and May was so much better. More fish(OK, one was a sand shark, about 2-3 ft long. It just minded its own business, but it was disconcerning every so often to see this sleek grey thing swim by!) and the water was much clearer. That we did together, but in Coco Cay, I just snorkeled from the beach, DH wanted to stay on shore and relax. It was a perfect day.

I hope everyone's weekend was as much fun as ours was.

We decided to do the same cruise, same time, in 2 years. Anyone interested?:goodvibes

The Dining Plan - yes or no

I've done the DDP on my last couple of trips with my sister and we really liked it, ate at places we normally would not of eaten at. I could go either way, I heard Disney might be changing the DDP again, by dropping the dessert, so the meal will only be main course and drink.

I was going through the numbers for my trip in January and decided not to do the DDP. I thought about the DxDDP to try some of the signature restaurants since it will only be my DH and myself, but am having trouble paying around $1000+ just to eat, so we decided to rent a car and eat off property some. I'm still going to make reservations at a couple of my favorite restaurants on property and just pay cash.

Anything holiday related, I would love. I've gone to Disney once to see the holiday decorations, which was over Christmas week, very crowded, so I'm really looking forward to the beginning of December to see the decorations, and do the Christmas party in the MK.

We don't do the dining plan. We priced it out and it isn't a good deal for us.
We don't usually do desserts or snacks.
We usually get Tables in Wonderland and go with that. Since we go 2-3 times within a year, the AP and TiW works best for us.

We usually don't do the dining plan, but we have in Decembers. The TiW doesn't "work" for the Fantasmic dinner or the CP package, but the dining plan does, so we felt the dining plan was worth it then. Now, last year the CP needed 2 table services, so it was less good. I'm not sure what we'll do this year. If we do get it, we go for buffet meals because I prefer an appetizer to a dessert. We especially like the Cape May Cafe seafood buffet, and Fantasmic dinner at Hollywood and Vine. We're traveling with DSis and DCuz this December and that's not the sort of food they particularly like, so we probably won't be doing the dining plan this year.

We were in VB and WDW for 9 nights and it was great. The 4th of July fireworks were definitely worth the trip. We lucked out with weather, it was NOT as hot as it had been in previous weeks. We were with family and friends, some of whom we hadn't seen in 2 years. The next time we do this, most likely in 2 years, we decided we want to do Vero after WDW...maybe we'll come home more rested that way!

Now I have an MRI scheduled for tomorrow. Please say a little prayer that they find that they will be able to help my stiff neck.

I've been thinking about next year's meet, and looking forward to meeting more on line friends!!! I'm game for a behind the scene tour.

Actually, we have done Mickey's in 2001 when we brought "honorary nieces" to WDW with us. It was fun, and had the best watermelon I've ever had!

Twice now, I've had the tools, and the people, but it's not worked out because of time. I have a one night stay with DH, DS, DDiL and 3 DGC in a treehouse before the November 11th DCL cruise. Because the treehouses have a grill right on the deck I am hoping that the 3rd time will be the charm.:thumbsup2

PS. DS was in Cancuun June 11-22nd, and he thought it was wonderful. They went for a destination wedding and to do sightseeing. Did they overlap with you, Jean?

I haven't really been to many TS restaurants in WDW so out of the one's I've been too I like LeCellier the best. My DH and I will be going end of January and I hope to try more TS restaurants, we're going to try some signature restaurants, any suggestions anyone.

I felt my first earthquake in the early morning hours last night. Didn't know what it was until I was speaking with my DH and he told me that it was an earthquake. One of his co-workers was talking about it today at work.

It was 3.6 and the center was near Rockville, Maryland. I was up and on the computer at around 5am when it hit. It was like a loud rumbling noise that was coming across our property and the house rattler and than it kept going. Like a wave going across our property. At the time I didn't know what it was, we don't usually get earthquakes in MD.

The noise and the shaking of the house scared me and my dog felt it as well, he jump up and even barked. I never felt any earthquakes when we lived in CA. How do you guys that live in CA or other states that get earthquakes often feel while one hits near your home.

I am a CA girl and then WA, so have felt quite a few.
For us, 3.6 is nothing :rotfl:
They feel different depending on what kind they are. Some roll, those seem to last forever.

DH is also a CA boy and he never felt one until we moved up here.
I remember one hitting when I was about 4 or 5. I was at my grandmother's in San Francisco and the paint actually came off the walls :eek: That really left an impression.

Oh my gosh, Jean! A tornado touched down not far from my Yardley PA home in the '80, that's as close to natural disasters as I've come.

I see people are mentioning Le Cellier as a place to eat during the exchange. I would enjoy that.

Hi Guys,
Just returned home from the beach late last night, had to come home a couple of days early, we got news that my DH's stepmother passed away on Tuesday morning. This has not been a good year so far for him, his mom passed in Feb. and now his stepmother. You know they say things comes in threes, well I really hope not, not sure if I could take any more bad news like this. Keep us in your prayers.

well, I guess if we plan to do dinners or tours, we'd need to have that figured out so we can book them as soon as we're allowed.

I've never done any tours, so not sure if they're worth it, but I'd be up for it. Will we all eat together, or pick a few restaurants and eat in little groups?

I think the plan is to find things the majority want to do......put someone in charge of the activity and go from there.

First I will post a poll with activities that people have mentioned being interested in and see how much interest there is in them and then pick ones to procede with. We don't have a lot of time for all the things going on for that time of year.

Most things can be booked 180 days out, for now ;) , so we are still a ways from that.
But we can get going on the "plan" and get people to organize each one...or a day, or whatever we decide.

And find out who want room mates and see if that needs to be decided. It will be time to book rooms before long :yay:

I've been planning our DVC use through 2011, and I'm looking forward to this meet. It seems to me that we don't have a huge group. Some of us are DVC members and some resorts do have common rooms that would be good to meet in. VWL and BCV in particular have nice nooks and crannies. I've read about people meeting in the Carolwood Pacific room at VWL for instance.

Hi, I'm hanging in there, and have gotten relief from the headache. I'm going to a neurologist when we come back from Glacier NP. I do think that I can teach with the pain that I have, the last treatment from the pain dr. did help a lot!!!

My FDDiL is a teacher, reading specialist and has not been able to find a job. She was an aide last year, but they had cut backs and sure enough, she was low enough in senority to be let go. A few years ago in New Orleans(now they live in Pittsburgh) she was teaching math, computers, as well as reading. I hope the job market opens up for teachers soon!!!!

Not sure what I'm doing yet, I'm hoping I can still attend. Since I work in a Hallmark store and December is one of our busiest times of the year, I'm not sure if I'll be able to get away. I'm keeping my fingers cross that I can still work it out, if I can I might be traveling alone, which is a first for me. I know it's still a whole year away, so I'm working on it. I really want to attend sounds like so much fun.

I'll be most likely traveling alone for the meet, but I just may stay through the following weekend, because DH could possibly join me on that next Thursday night. My exam schedule will be coming out next summer, and 90% of the time, I'll be giving an exam on Thursday (of the meet), but not on Friday, so in that case, I'll try to come Thursday night...to be there first thing Friday morning. If I have an exam to give on Friday....well, that moves me back a day.
