We usually stop just before Atlanta, GA on the way down and just past Chattanooga, TN on the way back. I'm not sure about road construction but you're bound to run into some no matter how well you plan. We're planning on being there January 19-28, 2003 and we can't wait. Have a safe trip!

We stopped just south of Atlanta in McDonough, Georgia (about 12 hours). There was a really nice Comfort Inn. We were at our hotel at WDW by 4:00 the next afternoon.
We hit alot more construction on the way home than on the way down, especially in Indiana on I-65 (July 24).
We're planning on driving down again next summer.
If you have any kids, the TV/VCR for the car was wonderful.
If you were planning on driving the I-65 route you might want to check the I-57 route through Illinois. While it looks like it's out of the way it's only a few miles. I like it becauses it misses all the traffic in northeast Indiana, Indiannapolis and Louisville. The biggest city you hit on I-57 is Champagin plus there much less traffic on the route.

I second the I-57 route -- it's a much easier drive when we go that way.
