If renting a car in WDW, where else in florida should we visit??

Just wondering where in florida we might want to drive to see something while we are there. I would have liked to visit fort lauderdale, but the map puts it at about 4 1/2 hours away!! Is there somewhere or someplace we should go to??

We included a weekend at Disney's Vero Beach Resort on our trip in 2001. Being desert rats, we really loved spending time at that resort and experiencing a warm ocean! The Pacific Ocean is a lot colder than the Atlantic! (I much prefer the Atlantic!) I have also heard Clearwater Beach on the gulf side is very nice, but have not tried it out, yet!
