Might be our favorite meal at WDW - not just buffets either. And I don't eat seafood. The "land" side has a lot of variety and good stuff. And the desserts are really good - Oreo bon-bons!!!!

Cape May isn't one of my favorite restaurants on property, but it is certainly a notch above the average Disney buffet. My family typically eats there every few years, because it is tasty and convenient to the Epcot area resorts.

The selections are geared toward seafood eaters. As the previous poster illuminated, there are plenty of items that appeal to landlubbers, but I suspect people who eat shellfish generally enjoy the restaurant more.

I spend my summers on Martha's Vineyard, a small island off the coast of Massachusetts and a place where seafood borders on religion. I have high standards when it comes to shrimp, mussels and clam chowder. The food at Cape May would not fly at a New England fish house, but it's acceptable and worth trying.

We ate there for the first time last week and absolutely, 100% loved it!

The seafood was so fresh, they kept it replenished constantly. We ate sooooo many snow crab legs, and they were the best ones we'd ever had. They had a lobster ravioli that was incredible, and their "land" selections were very good too.

We loved the desserts. The oreo dessert that another mentioned, and they also had a "mini" chocolate lava cake.

I'd definitely without a doubt recommend trying!

We'll be enjoying it for our first time in about one month. I'll try to remember to post back with a review. People we trust have recommended it.

We are going to the world next week and just the other day I changed my reservations around to include cape May. It kinda scared me a little that I was able to get a reservation for the 20th at this late date, but I really couldnt resist those crab legs. Not sure how we missed making this reservation with the rest.

I'll report back when we get home on the 24th, let you know how it is

LOVED IT!

We were just there last month... eleven (ages 8 - 50) of us (traveling with friends) and everyone loved it.

Honestly, I avoid buffets for dinner, (usually do one breakfast buffet character meal per trip) but we did 2 dinner buffets on this trip, Cape May and 1900 Park Fare - Cinderella's Gala. I wouldn't return to 1900 Park Fare for dinner, but we will go back to Cape May again. It was excellent.

I think the reason for this may be because it is not a character buffet. I also think (from seeing several cape may posts) that this place is a little underrated. Granted it is not superb quality seafood, we always make sure to get an ADR at Cape May.

Definitely love it, too. We ate there in February and really enjoyed everything. I got a bucket of clams, the real tiny ones, and they were SO tasty. Also loved the mussels. DH ate plenty of the crab legs, and the kids were happy with everything too. Good chicken, potatoes, ribs (sweet sauce). Desserts were good, nothing special though.

Overall, it's on our list of must do's, which is kind of a short list for us!

Cape may is my favorite dinning experience on Disney property. I am also originally from CT. and grew up on the shoreline. The food is fabulous for the south. If there are non seafood eaters in your group there are plenty of choices for everyone. Almost half the buffet is non seafood.

We eat there at least once a trip and sometimes twice.
I hope you enjoy your trip.

It's been great for us over the years. It was super our last trip (9/09). We enjoy the seafood, but the soups and salads are awesome too. I never miss the clam chowder, and last time, they also served a yummy smoked tomato bisque. I was crazy for the baked salmon teriyaki served that night too.

I have some very good experiences with cm and some not so good. I am not sure if it was time of day or what. I would probably go back again, though. Love that seafood.

Café May is good but not really a “must do”. Once you’re there though, The Oreo Bon-bons are THE must-have :)

We love Cape May! It's a must-do restaurant for us, and we eat there at least once during each trip. I wasn't thrilled with it at first, because I don't like steamers and mussels, but they really have something for everyone. Now, they have added crab legs, so it's not just my DH's favorite restaurant anymore. It's mine, too! :thumbsup2

We have clients who MUST have Cape May dinner ADR's every time and we've been for breakfast so we figured it was time to go ourselves. DH doesn't do seafood and he was so-so on the land portion of the buffet, DD wasn't really hungry, and I am not a steamer fan but the crab legs were good and I liked the rest of the seafood options, especially the cold salads.

DD and I were enthralled by a couple sitting behind us and how they attacked the seafood - steamers, crab legs, etc. It was like a military mission with the shells perfectly arranged on the plates, CRACK, suck, slap, dip. Amazing. I stopped by their table on my way to the buffet and chatted for a few minutes and they gave me tips on getting even more meat out of my crab legs. I love Disney!

We ate there two weeks ago, and it was great! A standout memory from our trip all the food was good but DH loved the crab legs! The lava cakes were also great we have eaten a lot of the Disney buffets and this is at the top for us.

Oh, I am soooo happy I listened to the reviews! I booked out first dinner there for our arrival on June 26. We love seafood and it seems like this place won't disappoint. What are Oreo Bon Bons?

I have an related question regarding the Cape May Cafe Clam Bake...

Given the terrible oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, what are everyone's thoughts on what might happen to the clam bake? Do you think it would be significantly impacted since there is a major effect on the Gulf's fishing?

I was wondering that too. It makes me literally sick to my stomach thinking about all those affected by this now (and in the future!) I don't believe (as far as CMC is concerned) that they would increase the prices significantly, but this affects the seafood industry quite alot, and the sad thing is, the little guy, the fisherman who DEPEND on the sea are going to be hurt the most. And to think about the ecosystem of that area...it makes me want to cry!

We are taking a family trip in Nov., as we are doing the QSDP we have decided to only do one TS and everyone agreed that of all the wonderful Disney restaurant they wanted Cape May. I think that speaks volumes. (love the oreo bon bons)

We love, love, love the breakfast but will not be going back to the clambake any time soon. We (along with most of the lobby of the BC) waited an hour past our ADR time because they were "in the middle of a turn over", the service was inattentive because the entire restaurant was seated all at once and they all seemed overwhelmed and the buffet was lacking at best. We saw no beef or ribs, the sides were constantly needing replenished, the cold salad items were more of a luke warm temp and the crab legs were stuck to the shells all night to the point that we had to scrap them out to eat them. But the dessert was great!

I think it was just an off night for them when we were there but it was the last dinner of our trip and it still really sticks out in our minds as not good.

I just booked the Cape May Cafe for our upcoming August disney trip! It sounds delicious! One question though....We'll be staying at CBR. What is the easiest way to get there via Disney transportation? I'm assuming maybe I just need to hop on the bus that is headed to the Beach Club Resort right? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

We were coming from pop which is near CBR. We took the resort bus to DHS which took about 5 minutes then took the boat to beach club that is located next to dhs on the right hand side this took about 15 minutes for the next boat to come and had one stop before that at the swan. So in total we had planned on an hour, but it only took under 30 minutes. On the way home we took a cab from the Boardwalk to Pop and it only cost $8 plus tip.
