Zurgy could use a little help. - I have yet to find a goog place to buy beer.

I want a good selection of quality micro brews and fair prices. So far I have not found a great place to shop.

Wal*Mart has nothing interesting, Publix wasn't any better. Goodings should be called Evilings - I should know I'm an evil emperor.

Zurg tried to transport beer in our luggage last trip in March....can you say Frat house.....good thing BWV have a washer and dryer...half of our clothes smelled like a brew house....

IMHO......unless you pack it with lots of bubble wrap and in a plastic bag....don't attempt it....clothing alone is not enough of a cushion....

How about in hand luggage? Will it explode? They sell beer on the flight so it should be ok if im careful that way?

Zurg looks like a guy I would get along with:D I am thinking he should defininity attend the Rose and Crown Mini meet, DATW and anything else we come up with;) I normally just get something at Publix...ESPN Zone at the boardwalk has a good selection also...but its not for carry out. Where is that SSB guy:confused:

Okay my mistake was to use soft luggage. The beer broke from getting smashed, and I don't mean that in a good way, like if I said Zurg got smashed on the beer.

The Bank's Bitter sounds good. Bud light, ice or regular is just evil.

Now I am thinking, and this is a bad bad thing, we should have a beer exchange. Must be a micro brew from your home town. You have to bring one for everyone in the excahnge. We put'm on Ice and drink around everyones home town. Well maybe if a ton of people sign up we get some 4 or 6 oz glasses.

We can use the trash cans as coolers as Bob NC details in his trip reports.

Oh I feel some serious head aches coming on!

Well, let's see...Denver is famous for Coors Beer, but that doesn't qualify for a microbrew. Matter of fact, it doesn't even qualify for beer. The locals refer to it as bufallo ****. :p

I feel your pain...but Zurg, I can drink Bud Light, etc...

So, my question is..have you tried the Big River Brewery at the Boardwalk? They brew their own beer, don't they?

Anyway, barring that, what about heading to Universal Studios and IOS during the 2002 Beerfest? I'm trying to remember if last year happened in November or October, but it's a great thing where you pay a set admission price and you get samples of beef from over 100 breweries. I know it cost about $20 or so last year, they give you a reusable cup and you go from stand to stand.
Sounds like something you might enjoy planning around!!! ;)

A micro brewery is a small custom brewer. They hand make small batches of unique beer. Typicaly use more and malt, and hops than national brewers.

This is as opposed to Coors or Bud who make huge amounts of beer that seeks the widest possible market and is at best bland or more colorfully discribed by disneycub.

The big breweries make watery pilsners. The micro brewer make a wide range of beers, Pale Ale, Porters, Stouts. More malt means more sugar to ferment that makes for a little more zip. More hops and more bitter and more finish flavor.

I have been to Big River. The beers were Okay.

The Mouse has done a good job of upgrading the wine list but the beer choices are very national ad campaign ordinary lowest common denominator.

Oh but it is. I am an Evil Emperor, I know these things.

Real beer has 4 thing in it, water, malt, hops and yeast.

Not Bud & coors they add rice and other adjuncts. Evil is as Evil does.

I don't drink beer-----but would be willing to bring a couple of bottles of micro brews from S.W. Washington. We are very close to the town of Kalama and if I remember correct one of the small Breweries has an award winning beer that is excellent. I don't think I could carry one for everyone who would attend the "BEER MEET" ---so you'd have to use cups and share!!!!!!!

PattyN

Now for ZURG-----Spend the big cash on the first 3 or 4 beers---then drink the cheap stuff...by then it wouldn't matter---Just my drunken opinion.....

SSB continues on his Quest.

Like in Monty Python's Holy Grial:
What is your name? SSB
What is your Quest? I seek quality beer
What is your favorite color?

Here is what our large footed friend had to say:

Ok, made some progress. I thought best bet was an ABC store on Apopka Vineland Road (would make a left at Crossroads if going down Hotel Plaza Blvd from Epcot Resort area... and only a mile or two down. I was able to order a case of the Voodo ... and they will call me when in.... Also, if IPA is "India Pale Ale", he did show "Pale Ale" as available to order... or I could just check at my local one. We are making progress... haha!

We dirgressed into a history of what brewers had to do to ship beer on sailing ships and the British empire but as you may know Zurgy has more than a passing interest in Empires.

But is there a Super Target or Super Walmart next door so I can explain to DW that we need to stop there also since it's 'on the way' from the grocery store to the resort?
