My girlfriend is a vegan and many of my friends are vegetarians/vegans and all are very supportive of animal rights groups. I can see both sides of the story, but personally I think places like Sea World and Busch Gardens are invaluable to getting kids growing up and appreciating animals as something other than just something they eat. You can get a personal connection at these types of places, some that can last a lifetime, and if they didn't exist I think down the road there would be a lot more apathy when it comes to things like whaling.
I understand the negatives, and I think Sea World et all should constantly be scrutinized to make sure their processes are the best possible for each animal, but I think groups like PeTA (or whoever) would be cutting of their nose to spite their face if they got places like Sea World closed down.
