1. Select any two elements. Each element should be embellished 1-2 different ways.
2. PM me with your DIS name, name and address.
3. Post your status on the Progress thread - which will be posted after the slots are filled. Check-ins are required to make sure we haven't lost anyone and that swappers are still able to fulfill their commitment. I will pm you if you do not check in. If you don’t respond within 48 hours of the pm, I will angel your spot. Just let me know if you’re going to be out of town during a check in and I’ll take care of that!
4. Check the progress thread for your status - it will be updated with ship info and received info.
5. PM me if you have problems and need to drop out or if an emergency happens (we all know things happen beyond our control sometimes), let me know so we can make arrangements for an angel or other help if needed.

Here are the elements to choose from (if you have another idea for an element, let me know and I will add it).

Element Selection:
Please, no hand lettering on any items, use computer fonts, rub-ons,
stamps, etc.
Embellished means using brads, eyelets, charms, ribbon, 3D stickers
(matted stickers are okay too),embossing, stickles, etc.

Element Selection:
Photo Mat – 2PP to fit a 4x6 photo, double matted and embellished.

Topper – 1PP double matted and embellished OR TITLE LETTERS at least 1 ¼ inch with shadow. If you do the letters, please let me know what it spells. You can do the traditional 8 x 2 topper OR you can do a topper/signage piece (welded letters, etc.) It’s up to you!

Borders – 1 set PP (2 borders) double matted and embellished

Journaling Box: 2PP at least a 3x3 writing area, double matted and
embellished with actual journal area placed on top of the two mats


Tag: 1 PP large tag 4.5-5 inches, 2 pp if smaller, double matted and
embellished, include either ribbon/fiber or eyelet/brad in the hole. May
include both....

Embellished Shapes/Squares: 4PP @ 1-1/2x1-1/2 or larger if you wish, double matted and embellished. These can be circles, squares, flowers, etc. be creative. If it is a shape that would not look right double matted please use your best judgment.....Just
make up for it in another way. Maybe make a few extra or throw in
something extra.

Slide Mounts: 2PP be creative here please

File Folders or Matchbooks: 1 PP if medium size or lager, 2 pp if the smaller sized. Please make sure to enclose a blank page in the matchbook if this
is the element you choose to do.

Library Pocket and Tag: 1PP embellished, no smaller than to hold 2x3 a tag
that should have ribbon/fiber or eyelet in the hole

Shaker Box: 1PP be creative please

Paper Piecing: 1PP be creative please

License Plate: 1PP be creative please

Signage/Bookmark: 1PP 2x6, double matted and embellished

Song/Lyric/Poem: 1PP, double matted and embellished

PP = Per Person


Packaging Instructions
Place your completed elements in a Ziploc bag with your DIS name and group number. Place all your baggies for a group in a GALLON size bag, and label with the same. Please use a gallon bag – even if your pieces are smaller and may not require it, the pieces you will be getting back may be bigger.

Postage:
Please include cash, check or stamps (No Click-it/ship-it postage). If you are in less than 4 groups, include $4.90 for the priority envelope. If you are in 4 or more groups, please include $10.70 for the priority box. If you would like delivery confirmation on your returned swap, also include the $0.80 and a filled out slip.



A Final Note: This swap is a huge commitment of time and money for everyone involved as it takes a significant amount of both to create all of the pages and elements. Having said that, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not sign up for more than you can handle. It is not fair to me or the other participants to expend the time and money to make something for someone who does not reciprocate. We all want everyone to enjoy swapping but we also want you to think about what you are getting into when you sign up. The due date will not be extended.

As far as the porthole stuff, maybe just make some general porthole themed items so that people can use them for any of the portholes on the ship, not necessarily just their stateroom. Make sense?

I see...if you have a suggestion, I could do something else. I was looking at the cruise website and didn't see anything else that was common on all the ships other than what was already listed. Is Goofy's Galley going to be on the Dream? I didn't see it listed for that ship?? If it is I think I can do something for that...seems fairly easy.

I think if Michelle is ok with it, I will do cake. And, of course if the rest i the group are ok with it. I could make it somewhat general cake-wise. In fact, I was thinking about making one element a title...I can make it so you can use just "cake" or "cake-a-day". That way, if someone has just a cake picture, it work for that too. Everyone would have the ability to choose either title.

First 3~
Pirate Night~ actually used real menu from pirate dinner and included extra lace, just in case anyone wanted more.
Castaway Cay~ Beachy theme with shells and burlap, each of these will be just a bit different depending on what I had in brads.
Animators~ I'm not real good at titles so focused on the colors and how they change. Brushes are all pop dotted so photos will fit under and also you can change directions on any of these pieces and it works.

Spa~ went back and looked at my photos and also went to the DCL photo of the day thread and took the colors from those.
The dolphin mosaics are on the walls and tried to used the different colors they used, blues, greens and peach-ish and tried for different look of textures.
Atrium~ same thing with photos, blue and gold colors, tried to go a bit more formal looking.

This swap I tried to keep alot of "Character" out of it, and focus more on the way the cruise makes you feel.

One of my favorite trips as a teenager was to Maine from New York. We stayed in cabins with no electricity, out houses only and bathing in the river. Woowee was that cold.

Saw my first moose while canoeing. True story. It looked like a rock at the side of the river and I said "you all better your cameras ready, it's a moose". Being one of two girls and the rest boys, they all laughed at me. But sure enough, it lifted it's head and I was the only one to get a photo. :thumbsup2

well made it through graduation weekend...however this past Sunday (grad party day) we awoke to find the power out which meant our sump pump was out, and our basement flooded. we had to tear up all the carpeting and pack the basement up...my scrapping corner is in the basement.... :sad2:

thankfully my supplies and stuff were organized and cleaned up, all ready to show off my newly refinished basement scrapping corner. i was able to keep alot of things accessible on the shelving on the walls. I believe I'm going to be fine in this swap. i'm planning on making my plan here in the next day or two.

so questions -- I understood each group to be 2 elements from the list, but AZ Rita it looks like you did more than 2 elements per group?

paper piecing can be cricut ones? i'm new to cricut but plan on putting together one of the Ariels for my character group. should I leave that as is or mount on a topper/journal box/mat?

for the letters swap -- what size should the letters be? should my letters coordinate?

The element groups are 2 elements. Some people like to make extra items, but only 2 elements are required.

Paper piecing can be the Cricut ones. They are fine by themselves, or you can use them to embellish another element.

Altered letters are 2". They don't necessarily need to match, but should coordinate with the theme.

Thanks! I hadn't realized how many altered letter Ss I had to do! "Freezing" the rope for that pelican letter S was challenging. The other ladies at the crop saw all my earlier attempts to get the rope stiffened into an S shape without looking like there was anything (glue, etc.) on the rope...!

The shimmery silver S is cool too - just a really bad photo. The paper is a neat holographic fish one from Absolutely Everything that really looks great with the sea green glittery seaweed (it is NOT that sickly yellow color as shown in the photo!)

I do have all my other groups in progress, but I'm still adding stuff to them, so they aren't ready for photo time yet. This is a fun swap!

Good question, LOVEMY3KIDDOS! What do the others in the letter groups think? I know they usually are packaged individual, but personally I wouldn't have a problem with all of the letters in one bag. Would save on bags, and on bulk when packaging to mail. Thoughts, ladies?

I prefer to have all letters for each swapper in an individual bag. So if there are 5 people in a group, then 5 bags, even if you have 2 or 3 letters. I had some trouble sorting letters without pulling embellishments off of them when they were all the letters in one bag. And they shifted around just enough in transit and got layers in between layers of another piece.

I was looking at the picture of the guy (host maybe) and what he was wearing. The jacket looked blue on one compute and purple on the other. Both seemed to have gold trim. So, I went purple and gold. I thought purple fit, because like you said it is a royal color. I hope they work for everyone. If they don't fit in that group, hopefully they can be used for something else!! Thanks again...I was happy with their turnout!

There are two mats and the borders are pop dotted so the photo slides under. The journal box is hidden...the flip flop lifts up. There is bling on the straps. The piecing is another flip flop on chipboard and blinged straps. There is also an ATC. I know it was not on the element list, but I had the idea and added it in. (That's why I made the other things also.) :thumbsup2

The "a day" block is not attached so you can put it on or not. It is hard to see in this photo. It is cream on pink. The cherry is stickled. The tag's cupcake is pop dotted and the top is stickled. On the circles cupcake wrappers, they are flocked. On the large cake, there are also stickles.

The issue seems to be that one of the swappers made an "S" instead of a "C". Sorry for not catching that! I'll make a letter "C" myself and mail it out to the participants of Group 5B.
