View Full Version : I've been wondering, is it just me?

First of all I find myself constantly reading these boards.
But I also seem to very frequently check the resale listings at the Timeshare Store, and others, for more points. I just purchased a resale add-on in December and seem to want to buy more again. I have more than my fair share of points, but yet I want more. So, am I alone or is it DVCitis???

Remember, snow here, I have nothing better to do!

Your alone in this. Nobody else ever wants to buy more. You are the only the sick one amongst us. In fact, I stopped buying recently after my fourth add-on and second separate contract; so I am cured for now.

That's what I thought. I knew I could count on you for the truth drusba. Recommend any doctors? Preferrably in Orlando ;)

You're definitely alone where I'm standing! ;)Although as much as I would LOVE to add-on, the monthly fees would absolutely KILL us!

Hmmm, maybe someday when we are independently wealthy. LOL

I have almost added on once next year, so I know how you feel - however I am probably worst I add on with the new resorts. (resales would cost less -but I can't wait)

hi to all from a fellow "addict". this is sure an expensive addiction, but i agree the best "cure" is to be found in orlando. anything to get out of the miserable northeast. should we whack the groundhog on the head next year if he dares to show his face? only kidding- i have twin nieces who were 2 this past groundhog day.

I just bought in December so I don't have any addiction yet. Only time will tell!

We became DVC members a little over a month ago and I have been obsessed with the discussion boards and also the resale listings. I have never been obsessed with anything before but seem to have a very hard time staying away from the boards. When I am at work I had to start restricting myself to 30 minutes a day while I take a lunch break or I would never get my work done. We just got high speed internet at home and I love to read the posts at night after the kids are down.

I also love to read the resale listings. We ended up buying a second contract just two weeks ago (debt) but oh well....... I still get disappointed when I pull up the DVC resale lists and they haven't changed from the day before!

It is comforting to know that I am not the only one!

Raising Disney Princesses. I'm Karen and I'm a dvcboardaholic! Maybe we sould start a DVC anonymous!I can't believe how addictive this has become. I check out the boards way too often. Maybe it's the lousy weather in Illinois, maybe it's the excitement of new membership, or a quest for raising my DVC IQ. It is such an active board and very nice people, too. Now if i could just get a really cool signature to work, I'd really feel part of the group!

I'm glad I'm not the only addicted one! I catch myself looking at the boards before bedtime... I feel like someone is suppose to say " Good Night John Boy"... (I hope you all are old enough to remember the Waltons otherwise I'm in trouble) :D :D

I personally feel that I'm showing incredible restrain in waiting until I close on my OKW resale before actually making offers on possible add-ons.

The best way to cure your addiction is to give your add-ons to a non-addictive member. I will be more than happy to help you out here. Everytime you feel the urge to buy more points, transfer some to my account first. If the urge to purchase still exist, then you can go ahead and purchase more points. By using this method, you will not be burdoned by too many points. I will force my non-addictive self to use the points wisely (never on weekends so I can have more weekdays, avoiding holidays).

Polly, I'm with you. It's not the cost of the points, but the maintanence fees that'll get you.

I must be an abnormality, but I don't think I want more points. We "only" have 230, but we do quite well with our paltry sum.

I couldn't even make the first year without adding on. Initial purchase was May of 2000, added on in Dec of 2000.

Lurking in the resale websites as we speak looking for more!

If it's DVC-itis, then we have a bad case of it too! We added 150 points on to our membership before our first year was even over. I hope this act doesn't set the stage, we'll go broke!

here is a cure -give me your 'extra points' and I'll see that they don't go to waste. We wouldn't want you to be an addict!
Really missing OKW now that winter won't leave!!!

The kids are in bed and I am free to catch up on the latest in resales and DVC wisdom! Karen in Dekalb, we will have to hook up sometime and see if we are ever going to be at WDW at the same time! I think your right about the lousy Illinois weather making this board all that more attractive....I love to dream about our upcoming vacations when I have the winter blahs!

I keep cruising the resales sites and I'm not looking to add on. I want to start, so I can't be addicted, because we don't own yet.

My wife(courtesy of 9 yr old son) had seen the DVC video without me present and now is actually intrigued. Tonight I made the statement "we should buy" and minimimal resistance. Maybe by the time I see the right resale she will be pushing the purchase.

But I know this is not contagious and she hasn't caught anything and she will not want to add on...
yet.

Adding on points is bad. The more you add the more you seem to need. I think we are all addicts.
