View Full Version : October 2011- who's in? Let's plan and countdown together!!

It may seem like a long way off, but it will be here before you know it!! Just 18 short months!!
So who is in for October 2011? Who's hoping for FD and a pin code? (is it too early to obsess about offers?) Who's staying where and doing what? Let's share and plan together!

Here are my plans (though we are settled on Oct, all the rest is tentative of course there is 18 months to go afterall!)
Traveling Party
ME (by then I will just 2 months shy of my 40th! :scared1:)
DH (by then he will be 37)
DS (by then he will be 9)
DD (by then she will be 7)

Where are we staying?
Polynesian!
This has been our dream resort for so long! Which is why (among many reasons) we are not going in 2010 (as a family anyway, I went in March for the 1/2 marathon). I've got 18 months to save up! We plan on going garden view, (unless an incredible deal comes out) for 8 nights, 9 days with PH passes and the WPFM addition.

What will we do when we get there?
All parks of course, likely 2 full days at MK, and we love the Waterparks so we will be hitting both in some form.

Our touring plan has traditionally been to hit the parks early (read- rope drop), head back to hotel for swimming and resting mid afternoon and hit whatever late park is open extra hours. We love Epcot at night, so we will be doing quite a few nights there.
We don't usually do many other "excursions" (like fishing or boat rentals etc) or tours as the parks are really what we enjoy the most.

So who wants to share their plans and strategies? Join me!!

I will be there Oct 8th-11th on an ALL GIRLS trip to celebrate my 40th! :woohoo: Couldn't think of a better place to celebrate! (and with no kids) We are staying at Pop Century-first for all of us. Most of our time will be spent at EPCOT drinking around the world but we will visit AK for a day and a split day at HS and MK. I am looking forward to it! I already have the ressies picked out! :lmao:
Happy Planning!:wizard:

Yeah! All girls trips are fun, I just did one in March! (though I did miss the kiddos a little!).
I've stayed at Pop before and of all the values I've stayed at (I've done them all..) I did like this one the best! The food court rocks!
I think we might be there the same time...our dates are not 100% (other than we know Oct) but it's looking like Oct 7-15th... thought it's going to depend on flights...
Hope you have a great time!!!

Oh good--I'm not the only one planning so far ahead! My husband and I will be taking our daughter on her 1st trip for her 5th birthday (also 1st trip for my husband and 1st adult trip for me!) from 10/1-10/8. We plan on staying at POP. Can't wait!!!

Count me in please! We are planning to visit WDW and Orlando for our first time October 1- 15, 2011. It will be myself, DH and our 3 DD's who will then be aged 13, 10 and 6. The first 7 nights will be onsite at POR (we are a family-of-five) during which time we will focus on doing the Disney parks and DTD. The next 7 nights we will hire a car and stay offsite (in more spacious accommodation) but not decided where yet. During this week, we will visit Sea World, Universal and IOA plus have a shopping day or two. We will get Park Hopper passes with the Waterparks so will probably visit one water park the first week and go back to do the other the second week. We will also go back to MK to do MNSSHP one night in the second week. We will then drive to Cape Canveral and visit the Kennedy Space Centre, spend the night and then we are booked to do a 7 night Western Caribbean cruise on Freedom of the Seas. It will be the trip of a lifetime for us as we have to travel far to get there and spend an absolute fortune to do it. :scared1: However I'm so excited and just can't wait :cheer2: It still seems so far away though and I wish for this :wizard: to make it happen faster!!

Trip in October is cancelled due to a family reunion in a cabin in the mountains the week of Christmas/New Years 2011. Sad but excited at the same time-good thing I am going to WDW in March of 2011!

I am totally in!! :wave2: We are planning on visiting in October for our DD's birthday. Actually, I say "we", but DH isn't completely on board yet. But since I'm the planner and the one that comes up with the $$ to pay for the trip, he will be :rotfl:

We are:
Me - the planner and compulsive fanatic about all things Disney
DH - doesn't quite understand my love of Disney, but accepts me anyway
DD (5) - Drama queen princess
DD (5) - Roll with the punches, go with the flow princess
We've been going to Disney every two years, and have always traveled with extended family (DMIL/DFIL, DM, DS and her family, etc.). I love our family, but this time, I would really like it to be just us. Is that horrible?

Where we'll be staying
We want to do a split stay between POP and Beach Club. We stayed at ASMu in 2009 and Poly in 2007. We really liked them both and I think that a split stay will be a "best of both worlds" scenario. I'm really looking forward to Beach Club. We've never stayed at the Epcot area resorts, so I'm excited for this.

Hoping to get a pin or FD offer (we did FD last year and loved it). I'll keep on the look out, but we'll go anyway!!

What we'll do when we get there
All the parks. DDs are still young enough to be very into MK, so we'll spend a good deal of time there, but we love the other parks too. I'm hoping to get ADRs for CRT for DDs birthday as a surprise. We've never been there. Also want to do MNSSHP. Did it last year and it was amazingly fun. I want to spend one day just enjoying Stormalong Bay at BC and doing the boardwalk things that we've never done before.

We also will be taking a side trip to Universal IOA. (DD's are big Harry Potter fans). Thinking of adding a night onsite there to take advantage of their FOTL perk. But not sure switching hotels twice isn't the craziest thing ever.

I'm so glad to be joining you in the planning! Pixie dust to all of us! :wizard:

Will be going in october also! Well, maybe late september...early october. Not specific dates yet as it will depend on flights and work schedule. I work for the school district and will be taking the kids out for a week (I know, shame on me!) But that's a different thread! Also wanting free dining, so need to make sure dates coincide.

Looks like we will be staying at CBR or CSR. Haven't decided that yet either! I want CSR, but dd is eyeballing those pirate rooms at CBR. Oct 10 is her bday (she'll be 12) so we may have to oblige, lol! There will be a group of 16 of us all together! Can't wait!

Cast: me and dh, our adult son and his fiancee, and our other 5 children ages 16, 12, 8, 7, 7 (we adopted twins in May!)
Two of my cousins and their children, and of course my mother~ just in case we need a night off, hahaha!

We are going to do waterparks for the first time, and spend a few days at US/IOA. We just went in june, but it was right b4 WWoHP opened :( oh well, an excuse to go back!

Hi everyone. We just booked Oct 21-29th, 2011 and are staying at the Grand Floridian. We will be taking our daughter for her first trip to Disney (she'll be 5 when we go). My husband has been making fun of me for doing researching and planning already, so this thread has made me feel so much better!!

My husband is making fun of me too, he thinks I'm crazy for even planning it so far in advance. It will be our daughters first trip to Disney and we'll be celebrating her 5th birthday so I want everything to be perfect. We're going Oct 14-21, 2011.

We'll be there. As you can see from my list below, I'm always there. I can't book my DVC resort until November (11 months out) for BWV. 2 weeks as always. The EPCOT resorts are hard to get into during F&W and is one of the reasons why I own at BWV (along with others).

We are totally looking into October 2011. I am currently 16 weeks pregnant (today!) and so anytime the rest of this year is out. My fiance, Josh, has never been to Disney World and so this will be his first trip, along with the new baby :goodvibes

Jake has been on a day trip in October 2009 and then his first big trip was last Nov/Dec 2010. We stayed at Pop and had a blast!

Anyways, I've never been to the Food & Wine Festival and I think it'd be a blast! I think Josh would definitely enjoy it, too. I'm thinking about doing the Wine and Dine 5k, which is supposedly the weekend of Oct 1st.

This will be so much fun to plan!

Just confirmed our stay for Oct. 9th-15th, 2011. Trying something different this year and renting points from a DVC owner. We are staying at Bay Lake Towers in a deluxe studio but paying about the same price as a value resort booked through Disney (saving about $1800).

11 months from today we will be at the Contempory TPV

We had to cancel our trip this year due to an ailing boiler so we are now planning on doing our first MNSSHP, and our first F&W in October 2011 instead.

It will be our first stay at CR someplace we have talked of staying since our first visit to WDW in 1989 and can not wait.

Since I had to cancel this year's November trip due to complications with my pregnancy... October seems so far away. Oh well, that means I get to plan a new trip all over again.

We were planning October 2nd - October 8th, but with free dining ending Sept 29th for now, I extended it to September 29th to October 8th, staying at POFQ.

It will just be my DH and I for now. The in-laws want the baby while we're gone, but we might decide to bring her. We'll play that by ear depending on how good a baby she is.

Welcome to all the new October 2011 travelers !

Everytime I see someone say they booked to get the free dining I think maybe we should change our dates as it would save us so much money, only thing is we are leary because of it being hotter and more humid the begining of October. What to do ? :confused3

I keep thinking I should change our booking to lock in FD then wait to see what comes out in discounts for the fall, good thing is I do have until Dec 20th to book the FD

Hey all. We're in too. We weren't planning on doing a trip next year, but I went into CAA (Canadian AAA) when I moved to change my membership, and walked out with a trip booked to WDW. I guess I'm addicted :-)

Traveling Party
Me (Zife)
DW (Rin)

When are we going?
Sept 29-Oct 6 - Taking advantage of FD, upgrading it to Deluxe (we did this last year too and loved it). Oct 4 is Rin's BDay, so gotta find something special to do.
Oct 6-10 - Off-World

Where are we staying?
AKL, Club Level Savannah View
The first time Rin ever went to WDW (and the first time I stayed on-World) was our honeymoon in 2008. We did 3 nights at AKL and 4 at POFQ. We loved AKL, and it's become our 'home' resort. We're huge fans of Club Level, just for the simplicity of making bookings.

What will we do when we get there?
Obviously all 4 parks, plus hopefully we'll actually do a waterpark this year.
We might check out La Nouba again (did it on our honeymoon, and it turned us into Cirque freaks).
Lots of great food, and probably some character meals.
We're planning on checking out MNSSHP. We did MVMCP last year and *loved* it, so hopefully MNSSHP won't dissapoint.
After we move on from WDW, we plan on checking out Universal, IoA and Sea World. We might take a day off of WDW (check-out day) and go to Discovery Cove too.

Rin is the planner between the two of us (I do my share of research, but far less than her), so I'm having a hard time finding anything to do for her birthday that we didn't do on either my bday or our honeymoon...

Hey everyone! We're in as well. Under 12 months so we're starting to get excited!

We are a party of all adults!:
Me (26)
Sis (23)
Mom (she'd hate me forever for posting her age)

Where/When:
Oct 29th-Nov 5th at the Poly! This is going to be our first stay at this resort so it should be fun.

We're going specifically for MNSSHP again on Halloween night. Costumes are still in the planning process...

Ugh are there some blackout dates in October with the pin you used? I'm hoping for an October pin, and I was hoping to go 10/14-10/22, but if 10/21 and 22 aren't covered, I'm assuming the whole week is out...:confused3

That was the only 6 days that pin was offered. Next time frame under the pin was mid November for 6 days as well. I booked as 40 off of 6 nights is better than nothing. Remember it is still early in the game. I am going to keep checking but happy with what I got. Dh on the other hand is not thrilled with needing 2 separate reservations

I just booked a room only ressie for Oct. 15-22 and am crossing fingers for a discount or free dining to be released between now and then!!!

Traveling Party
ME- Obsessed with Disney.
DH- He enjoys it when we get there but he doesn't get as excited as I do. He says he'd be more excited if it didn't cost so darn much .
DS- He'll be 7 by the time the trip arrives.
DD- She'll be 4 by then. She's finally 40" so I'm excited for all that she will get to experience that she couldn't last trip.

My parents and my sister's family MAY be joining us but I kind of doubt it.

Where are we staying?
CBR!!!
We're staying at CBR for the 5th time. Our first stay was our honeymoon in 2001 and I always feel like we're going home when we stay there. It holds such great memories for us. I'd love to stay deluxe but my wallet doesn't agree. :confused3

What will we do when we get there?
We love our Park Hoppers and visit all the parks. We usually spend at least 2 days at MK and DHS. AK is our least favorite and we only spend about a half day there. I'm debating the water parks for this trip. DH doesn't think it's worth the extra money but if the weather is cooperative it might be fun.

Can't wait to start planning!!!!

Family Loves Disney

The following is our potential plans:

Traveling Party
ME - as said before, I'm a Disney OCD fanatic on all things Disney & will be celebrating my 40th birthday too (although my actual birthday is in February, I love going to WDW in October vs February, went Feb 2010 on my actual birthday and I did not pack for the cold weather, we went the week it snowed in Georgia and the cold weather followed us to Florida! It or shall I say I was miserable even though we were at WDW)
DH - will be staying home and going hunting for his vacation while we are at WDW
DS (by then he will be 11)
DD (by then she will be 8)
DN (by then she will be 15) - this will be her first time ever to WDW! I'm so excited to be taking her for her first time. Plus she is going to help me out with DS as we will give Luke a vacation too from being a working service dog for DS, he is going to a Dog Spa Resort.

Where are we staying?
Wilderness Lodge

We will be there October 14th thru 22nd. Want to bump it up early because it will save me money, but as it is, I have to pull the kids out of school a for few days to go then (the kids will have a mini fall break that week) and if I bump up the dates, I will have to pull them out for 5 days instead of 3, DH is not keen on that idea.

This is our first time staying at a Deluxe Resort, DS wanted to stay at a resort with bunkbeds.

What will we do when we get there?
All parks, maybe a water park (water parks scare me with DS because water is one of his OCDs and he wonders off), definitely MNSSHP for a second time, and maybe Universal IOA to see the Harry Potter area. But what I have been reading, it may not be worth going because of overcrowding and long lines, not a place to be taking an autistic child with crowd & long line issues. Not sure what Univeral IOA's policy is for disabled children. Here in Atlanta, a little girl and her family were banned from Universal because the little girl screamed on one of the roller coaster rides and the person sitting in front of her had a fit and was yelling at the little girl for screaming and was disciplining her before the parents came up to her. Of course you can imagine what happened next, someone with the little girl's family video taped the whole thing and next thing you know Universal is kicking the little girl out of the park and banning her from the park for life. So my opinion of a place that bans children from a place that supposedly is geared towards families is not a good one.

Hi everyone! We had a trip all booked and paid for last October, but had some last minute major scheduling conflicts and had to cancel so we are trying again in 2011. This will be our second visit to WDW.

We have our dates picked and flight booked. We'll be staying October 15-22. However, we haven't decided on a resort yet. We are leaning toward either BC/YC or AKL. We stayed at the Poly last time and loved it but want to try something different. I'm looking forward to getting to know all my fellow October travelers.

Traveling Party
ME- 34-turning 35. My bday is Oct. 14, so I will celebrate while we are there :-) I LOVE all things Disney.
DH- 44. He love Disney also, but not as much as I do. He can't wait to stumble around the world this trip, since we are staying so close.
DD-11. She is also turning into a Disney know it all and loves to research with me.
DS- 7. He still loves Pooh and that's all he cares to see while we are at Disney.

Some other family members may tag along, but we don't know for sure yet.

Where are we staying?
Beach Club Villas- 2 room villa!!!!!
Oct 16-23rd We used my in-laws timeshare as a trade and only paid $129.00 for the weeK!!
We have never stayed onsite a whole week before so this will be very exciting. We stayed for 2 days on our last trip at the AKL concierge to do the Sunrise Safari, but that was our longest stay. We have been to Disney 3 other times, but they were all off of Disney property.

What will we do when we get there?
We will actually arrive on the 14th, but I plan to stay at Universal the first 2 days of our trip to do the new Harry Potter stuff. Then on the 16th we will check into our resort. I plan to do all the parks and possibly a water park if the weather is good enough during our visit. We will also do the Halloween party at least once. We LOVE the MNSSHP! We used to do the US halloween party, but on our last trip we were really disappointed and not sure it is worth it, but find that Disney's party is never disappointing. My kids also want to do the makeovers (pirate and princess) so that should be fun as well.

I can't wait :-)

DonnaJean17, have you started a chart of who is going, the dates they will be there, and the resort they are staying in? Last year for the Feb 2010 link had one and it helped us when we went to look up others from the board. It was nice saying hi to those there the same time we were. Just a thought.

I'm crossing fingers for a discount but no pins so far. :sad2:

How many are planning for MNSSHP? Has anyone done it before? We've never been to it and being the Disney obsessed person I am I'd like to know more about it and start planning. :goodvibes

We have been once on Halloween Night. Absolutely LOVED it! It was crowded, but not too crowded. We did the BBB for DD and DS wore his Peter Pan costume (before the Pirates League). My kids wanted to ride the rides instead of trick or treat, but we did trick or treat walking from ride to ride. Seeing the costumes the guests were wearing was so much fun, too. I loved the fireworks show. At the end as we were walking back to the busses, CMs were handing out M&Ms candy to the exiting guests by the handfuls. Let me tell you, My DFIL was in HEAVEN!!! He is such a chocoholic, bless his heart, he kept sending us back to get more, then we would empty our bags into a bigger bag then go again for more. He kept saying it was a long ride back to Ohio and he needed the chocolate to keep him occupied. LOL.

We're driving from MD and my DH is a chocoholic so that's great to hear! :rotfl:
I'm glad to hear it's worth the money! I guess I'll have to add costumes to my packing list!

Very excited for MNSSHP and the food and wine festival! It will be our second trip.

4 of our last 5 trips have been in September...Crowds are nice and low, but MAN, is it HOT!

Does anyone have comparable experience between Sept and Oct?
Crowds?
Weather?

TIA!:flower3:

September was worse by FAR, IMO. We went in September 2002 and it was so hot you could see the humidity in the air. It was our first time ever visiting WDW and we were so miserable because of the heat we decided to leave the park and go back to the resort to swim. This was before FD but it was still crowded because of school vacation.

October is still pretty hot (it was in the 90s in 2009 and close to 90 every day of our 2010 trip). We started going in October in 2007 and I have noticed an increase in crowd level over the last few years but it's still nothing compared to the summer (we've also gone in July) and if you know what you're doing it's easy to navigate.

On that note, we are hoping for a trip this October but not sure of dates yet. I'm waiting to see if I get a PIN and I'll book around that. It's not confirmed yet that we'll be going but here's hoping!

We've only gone once in October (2004) and it was hot but not too miserable. The crowds weren't as low as when we have gone in January but still bearable and not nearly as hot and crowded as when we went in July. Now THAT is something I'll never do again!!! :scared:

Since I posted this, we have made our POR booking and we are adding two days on and now arriving earlier on 29 September so that we get free dining! :cool1:

We will be there the same time! 9/29-10/8! :cool1:

I wanted to stay in POFQ so badly, but I've been overruled by the rest of the family, so we will be staying in a pirate room at CBR.

The OP hasn't posted since 5/10--would it be rude for someone else to do it? I'm also on the September 2011 thread, and it really is nice to have everyone's info right on the first page.

We will be returning the last week in October again this year. Probably staying at the CR or Poly (waiting on AP discounts). We went last year and loved F&W and the kids loved MNSSHP.

Now about the weather.... It was brutaly hot and humid that week. Orlando broke heat records 3 straight days and tied the record on another day that week in 2010. Hopefully they will have more 'normal temps' this year.

Hello Everyone,

My first post on this site :yay:

My family and I will be at DisneyWorld for the frist time from October 19 - 27. We are so excited. We live only a few miles from Disneyland in CA and we have passes, but this will be the first time at WDW. We had a group discount deal $500 per person for 5 day tickets, and a choice of water park, Disney Quest, ESPN complex, or a round at the golf course. We are going to choose one of the water parks. This includes 8 days at the All Star Movie hotel. Has anyone stayted at that hotel? We wanted to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, but since it was a group buy we had to go with the hotel that was offered. So, is this a good deal? Anyway, this is a very cool site and a lot of cool people here.

We were there the same week last year, 10/31-11/7. The only place with Christmas decor will be the MK because the first Christmas party will be the end of that week. The tree at DHS also went up around 11/3. It was a great week to be there. Enjoy! :goodvibes

Yeah we are going back in October. We considered Nov but went back to our usual - Oct. Still warm enough to swim, food and wine, and mnsshp.

It will be my mom, ds13 and myself. Staying at YC for the first time (unless a discount comes out and we switch to save $$)

We plan on a mnsshp , no tours this year (we have the last few years), only new restuarant is ,hopefully, La Hacienda. Going back to CP, O'hana, and Sci Fi. (and beaches and cream)

Oct can't get here soon enough.
