Molly is going to Wash DC with the 8th grade class, with me to Chi-town for Tday and again to Wash DC for girl scouts 100 year.

Good Morning Friends....guess I'm the last to check in since Holly is already here.
I just paid in full my B2B October cruises to the Bahamas. We'll be platinum after these sailings. Lisa and Darrell are on the 3 night with us. Then we're doing WDW afterwards. I think we're doing the Food and Wine Fest with many of you. I will not miss this. I don't care what my leg status is....I'm going.
Next, I pay off the Dream inaugural cruise and then the LA-Alaska B2B. I'll probably have to cancel the WBTA in Sept 2011. I booked the Jackie Birthday Dream cruise in Nov 2011. I'll do that one instead. I just can't do them all. Something had to give. I guess 4 cruises in one year is enough.

checking in....
busy weekend here. If you've been following on facebook you know exactly what we've been up to. But for those non-facebookers, here's the recap:
Took the girls to the first day of soccer - and what a gong show that was. Not too impressed with what was going on.
We've signed both girls up for additional practice sessions and were told that the practice sessions were 1/2 hour before their games on Saturdays and Mondays. It even said it on the soccer associations website. So, because Kaleigh's game started at 9 we were at the soccer fields for 8:30am. Only to find out that the practices actually started at 8:15am and have a 15 min. break between the practice and the game. Makes sense but it would have been nice to have been told ahead of time. Add to this that she was the only U5 (meaning players born in 2005) kid out there for the practice, so she got lumped in with the U9/U10 boys. It didn't phase her and she still stuck it out and did the drills requested - what a little trooper. We chalked it up to first day and hope there are more kids next time!
So the practice ended and we head to where the games are suppsoed to be but the Association wants a meeting with all of the U5 parents first. They have big sign outside stating this, yet still a lot (and I mean A LOT) of the parents and kids ignored it and went to their respective fields for the games. So we end up wasting more time trying to round up all the parents and getting the meeting going. The meeting was because they actually only had 2 coaches for 8 teams. So they needed parents to step up and coach the other 6 teams. And of course Kaleigh's team was one of them. I knew one of the other parents who's kid was on the team and she wasn't going to be able to coach and I knew nobody else so I volunteered. As it turns out there was only one other set of parents there for another kid on the team, a kid who Kaleigh goes to daycare with. So it now turns out that I am the coach. We only play 3 on 3 so it won't be too hard to manage and I told the mom's that one of them has to manage the bench each game while I worry about the on field play, and they agreed (although I think it will fall to Shannon most of the time). So in the end I had 3 kids to play 3 on 3 soccer with against another team for about 35 minutes. Those kids were tired at the end of the game.
Over on shaelyn's side things went much smoother. She has a coach who seems to know what he is doing and had things organized. He even made sure to call us the night before. What was surprising was how well Shaelyn did on the field. She plays 7 on 7 and her team is made up of u9/u10 girls. So she is on the bottom end of that group. But, and I will admit I am more than a little biased, I thought she was one of the better players out there, particularly when the coach moved her from defense up to offense where she really shined with her hard work and tenacity. But again, she was running lots and was quite tired at the end. I could easily tell she was tuckering out near the end of the game.
Shaelyn's got one tough schedule. She has practices and games on Saturdays and Mondays and she will play the occassional game on Wednesday. However, she has also signed up for cross-country running at school which she does Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. So on Mondays she will go to school, run 3kms after school, then come home and go to soccer practice for 1/2 hour and then go play her soccer game for an hour. I expect Monday nights to be pretty quiet evenings around home.
For the rest of the weekend, we went up to Prince George to do some shopping and to take Shaelyn out for her report card dinner, which was a few months late. We have a tradition that when she brings home a good report card she gets to pick a place to go out to dinner at. This time she wanted to go to a restaurant in Prince George (they have a bigger selection of restaurants). And if you were looking on facebook, you saw the pic I took of her and the food she ordered - her favourite food - ribs. And she darn near ate the whole half rack she got!
The next day (today) we went and saw the Dreamworks movie "How to Train Your Dragon". We don't get many opportunities to take the girls to the movies because I hate our theatre here in Quesnel. This movie was really good and the 3d effects were really well done. All 4 of us enjoyed it, although Kaleigh had a few spots where she was a little frightened but she still enjoyed the movie.
And now we are back home and getting caught up and just relaxing a bit.

checking in....
busy weekend here.
Well you're lucky so far. Ethan can practice 4 hours a week so we have 2 to 3 practices and one game. We have NEVER had a coach that has coached before. He runs around a lot but he's not aggressive with the ball so he mostly runs around A LOT!

My brother coached soccer when I was a teenager.
He wanted me to play.
Not that I wasn't coordinated, but it was about the time my dad had left and my bro had decided he was the man of the family and he and I were batting heads about it.
That and I hated getting up on Saturdays...

I am awake but have been busy before coming on here!!!!!
Bank Holiday here today(Public to you all), so even though it is quite like most of my days it does feel lazier!!!:rotfl2: Guess it is the guilt feeling that goes on public holidays.:lmao:
Have son and daughter in law and 2 girls popping in for tea and cakes this afternoon!!!!
Might go for a walk this morning and potter around a bit. Normal Monday chores like bed changing and hoovering though.
No post today, so no letter from the hospital.:headache:

A year ago today we met Ian and Sukie for breakfast at Olivias. Vanessa and family were supposed to be joining us, but understandably cancelled as it really was a long way to go for breakfast!!! We waited quite a while for them which meant we were still eating our breakfast when the queue was forming for lunch!!!!!
Of course Monica was meant to be there too, but she was away on a cruise somewhere!!!;)

Well...
I tried to go to sleep, but it didn't work.
I've got a cycle going on now where I get in pain, have to take the meds, then I get depressed FROM the meds and then I have to take something for that that makes me sleep at odd hours because, well they just make me loopy and then it's all messed up. & I also have alot on my mind lately. No answers to any questions I need answered and lots on my plate.
& mom want's me to go run errands for her later.
I don't know if I'm going to make it. She has to get an eye test for her license. We have until the 13th to get it done.
She gets very mad at me when I go through these cycles. I think she thinks I'm being lazy or that I'm sleeping strange hours as an escape, but mostly it's because I've had to take meds and once I get past or get over one cycle, I get hit with another.
I am calling the Dr. this week. I think most of my problems are hormonal (sorry Bubba...TMI I know... but since this thread is mostly women...) I've been getting cramps that I people have told me sound like they could be labor pains they are so bad. And they last for 3 days. It is not fun...
So it's time to go get poked and prodded ONCE more...
No plans for the future. Can't make any until I can get this under control.
So... anyway... that's it for now... thanks for listening.
Time for me to try and go back to sleep.
Oh and Marilyn...it's 73 degrees here and it's hot and muggy... (and I think my a/c is dying...)

That all sucks Michelle. Shame you can't take your mom to the Dr's with you so he can tell her you aren't putting it all on!
I do think sometimes though that loved ones block out that there could be anything wrong with their relatives and they are a bit scared of that being the case, hence the poor responses and lack of help.
I'm glad you have made that appointment and can get it all checked out. Could be something that is easier to sort out than you might think!!!!

Hi All....done with one doctor and onto the next soon. I saw the plastic surgeon about the leg. There's no way I'm going to do what he suggests. He said he would cut the whole thing out of the leg. He said it will look like a shark bite. Then he would use a wound vac and he said it's a sponge attached to tubes that get changed every other day. He didn't say how long I would be doing that. He said it would get rid of all the infection and leaking. Then he said he would reconstruct the leg using skin graffs and "other" sources. I'm not willing to do anything that radical. I would rather take another three years to work on losing weight, getting rid of the edema, using the pump on the leg, elevating, soaking and cleaning. I know if I lose more weight it will get better. I'm working on it everyday. I would rather make slow and steady progress than do such a radical lengthy procedure. There's no way I would be able to let them do all of that. He said he wants me to have an ultrasound to check my vascular circulation and an xray to check for bone cancer. I'll have the tests done, but that's it.
Now I'm off to see the rheumatologist. I'm going to ask him about steroids. I know they reduce the edema in my leg. We'll see what he says.

Pardon me while I vent ...
Shaelyn just brought home her spelling words for this week and one of the words is "behavior". Yes that is correct. The teacher is spelling it without the "u". That bothers me to me no end. To top it off, Shaelyn says her teacher told her that "behaviour" is the "french" way to spell the word and not english.
I wrote in Shaelyn's planner that I prefer her to learn English and not American, afterall this is Canada.
I also told Shaelyn I want her to spell it "behaviour" and if the teacher marks it wrong then I will speak to her teacher.

:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
Deb, sorry you are going through this too  How did you make out with the rheumatologist?

I asked Tyler on the way home from school if he'd like to swim tonight or help me do yardwork. He chose yardwork (swim practice is only 2 nights a week, whatever nights we choose). So we get home, it's a beautiful sunny day, eat supper, and the sky gets dark and it starts raining. :rotfl: Good! I hate yardwork anyway!

:headache: I'm with you on this Ken! That would REALLY annoy me!

I'm back from the rheumatologist. I'm typing with my left hand and only my ring finger on my right hand. The doc gave me the thumb shot, but he split the dose and put half in two different places so it's like a double shot and MAN it hurts. I have almost no use of my right hand at all. I hope the pain goes away quickly.
I asked the doctor about the steroids. He said no. He said that my leg is not healing because of my circulation. He said to get the test done because there might be a blockage. He said the steroids are not going to help that.
So I need to heal from today and then go for the tests.
Michelle, my mom never understood my issues with illness. I looked fine so I must have been fine. Only John fully understands my limitations and setbacks and frustrations. His son is right next door and he doesn't get it either. I completely understand and have similar patterns. You're not alone.

I know how the "looking fine, therefore must be fine" thing works tho' to a lesser degree. My skin issues are mostly hidden by clothing so no one except Richard knows the true extent of the condition and how it affects/restricts my life... I guess I'm used to it now (had it since the age of 15) BUT every so often it takes an unexpected turn and I'm back to square one...

Thanks Kaz... & thanks for understanding - I've looked fine all along (except when I look like crap when I'm really bad...) (or hungover...:rotfl:) I sometimes thought that if I had a cast for even a little bit, someone might remember. My brother turned around once and said "what do you mean you can't do......?" & I just looked at him and said "you forgot didn't you?" The kids in my family all know and remember. They grew up knowing that Aunt Shell had a Boo Boo... Even May got into a fight in kindergarden with a kid because HE insisted that boo boo's ALWAYS get better... but she knew....

Might I suggest that you take the Canadian Dictionary out and throw it at the teacher? If it hits her in the head... she might realize she's Canadian... :thumbsup2
Well... we took mom for her license. Probably her last because it will be good for 8 years and since she is turning 78 this month I have told her that there is no way I'm letting her drive at 86!!! She failed her vision test because she left her distance glasses at home (stubborn broad she is...) so we had to go to an optomotrist at an eye glass place and get it signed off on.
I called my girlfriend Susan from the lake last night to chat and Zach, her son answered - we've been buddies since he was born... before he would even think of giving the phone to his mom... we talked for 45 min about Disneyland - since they are going there next week. Told him lots of secrets about the Lilly Belle, and the light above the fire house and the windows on main street. He wanted to know how I knew all of this... :rolleyes1

Yesterday was a busy day! Super swamped at work, then was almost late picking Tyler up after school, went straight from his school to one of his doctor appointments, then a quick supper on the run, then swim practice for an hour, and home just in time for bed. Glad that day is done! :thumbsup2
Today will be much easier (except I have to mow). After picking Tyler up, we need to stop and get some guinea pig supplies, then clean their cage, then mow the front yard. Unless the neighbor kid asks to mow, of course I'll let her! :rotfl:
Tomorrow will be another busy one. After picking Tyler up from school, we'll have to run home, pick up one guinea pig, take him to the vet, drop him off at home, have supper, then head to scouts. FRIDAY we can relax after school! :goodvibes Looking forward to my week of freedom next week! I don't know how people do this with more than one kid, and without the week break I get every other week! All you full-time moms are my heros! :worship:

Well, I could say I'm the last to check in but I see that Ian hasn't made it yet so...I guess I'm just SLOW to check in!:)
Things are going just fine at Eastwood Manor. T, T & I have settled into a little routine in the morning. Around 6 a.m. they bark and wake me up and I go upstairs and let them out of their cage (where they sleep for the night). Then we all relieve ourselves (not at the same time or in the same places, in case you were wondering):lmao:, and after that we all lie down on the couch and go back to sleep for a couple of hours. It's been working out quite well. When we all get up for the second time, I make coffee, feed them and then we all go out on the porch to enjoy the spring weather. :goodvibes
Yesterday and today I went to art museums, which I enjoyed but I think tomorrow, even though I'd wanted to go to the natural history museum on this trip, I'm going to do something outside. Maybe visit a neighborhood and do a little shopping or go down to the lakefront. It was supposed to rain this afternoon, but ended up being windy, but sunny. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny (fingers crossed) so it would be a nice day to walk around. The week has gone by fast, the boys will be back on Sat., just a couple more days, and then I'll be going home. But I'll be back for Thanksgiving, and we'll surely do some fun stuff together then! Lots of good times in store in the next year and a half!!:cool1:
I left home for our TOAL on May 8, so it's not quite the 2 year mark for me, but close enough to celebrate! I'm so looking forward to seeing everyone on our various trips next year and I hope there's still interest in a possible "reunion" in Dec. 2012 on the Fantasy!:lovestruc Wasn't that what was talked about awhile back?
Deb, Michelle and Monica, to you and wishes for better health soon! Hope I didn't forget anyone!

John came home from work last night and said that by next Monday he's going to have a different job. He'll still be with the University, but he's going to get reassigned. Instead of doing campus wide fire alarms, he's going to be assigned to work as an electrician in the hospital. He doesn't want to take it. He's going to try to get assigned as an electrician campus wide. There's cut backs everywhere. He has seniority. So he won't lose his job, he's just not going to be doing the same thing.
I told him that it figures it's his last 3 years before he retires and he can't do it leisurely....there has to be turmoil. I also told him that no matter what the University tells him, we'll deal with it. At worst, we'll relocate to Orlando earlier.

Still waiting for my surgery date. Supposed to be within these next 2 weeks. Such a nuisance not knowing when though. I will be glad when it is over and I am pain free.
I sure hope they call you soon Marilyn. I can understand you being anxious to get it over with

Michelle, how are you doing?
Healthwise I am fine...but my pocketbook is hurting :headache: Came home and so far...my dryer's timer is broken, the tap is dripping water and my car is dripping gas :scared1: Had to have the car towed to get fixed once I made it to work this morning. Ugh...I sure wish I could just spend my life cruising around the world. That just made me think of Woody ;)

:flower3::wave: Hi Michelle! Hope today is a better day for you!
Life's been busy. But now its quieter for a couple days.
Kaleigh went to stay with my parents for a couple days, and Ken's out of town, so its just me & Shaelyn until Friday. Should be a nice opportunity for good 1-on-1 time with Shaelyn in the evenings. Well, not tonight since she had Brownies, but tomorrow night we're going to make supper together. Sweet & sour meatballs and rice :goodvibes
Sounds great Shannon, glad you and Shaelyn are enjoying a few special days together :goodvibes

After much recent debate, the kiddiwinks and I are DEFINITELY coming to WDW in October. :yay: BUT sadly Richard won't be joining us!
In a nutshell, he has just left the mean giant US investment bank he worked for to join a smaller, cosier and much friendlier US investment bank so is on 'garden leave' for 3 months. Which is fab BUT he won't have enough vacation days to make it to WDW and that means I won't get him to the IF&WF for yet another year!!! Given that he loves both food and wine, this seems crazy BUT September 2012 (and our 30th wedding anniversary) is calling and I WON'T be taking no for an answer on that occasion... ;)

I hope this all works out for you and John.:hug:

Today was finally a less busy day.
After getting Tyler from school, we stopped at his previous school (it's only about 1/2 mile down the road from his current school) to visit former teachers, the principal and social worker. They're so wonderful to him still and were happy to see him. They keep in touch with his current school to see how he's doing.
Then we went to the library to return DVDs and pick out some more, and books too. After swimming, I let Tyler have lots of Webkinz time online while I cleaned the guinea pig cage and gave the injured one his FOUR MEDS. :guilty: 1 day of that down, 9 to go. Poor piggie. :sad2:
I let Tyler stay up late because we were watching "Twister", and he didn't get to sleep until almost 11, so I expect a very crabby kid at 7am. No matter how late he stays up, he always gets up around the same time, BUT.....after a night of staying up late, he always takes a long nap the following afternoon, so of course I'll be taking one too! :cloud9:
I guess that's all, folks. :thumbsup2

No, only students are allowed in the pool (it's at the high school in his school district). Parents can't even watch from poolside, we have to sit in balcony bleachers.

I need Deb & John's dates as well as Ian & Sukie's to add to the calendar.
Sorry you're not 100%. Have John bring you a cuppa :goodvibes
John and Deb's dates match Ian and Sukie's except that we're doing one week of cruising and one week of WDW after. Ian and Sukie are doing both weeks at WDW...but they're the same dates.
Oct 10-16 we're doing our B2B Bahama cruises and then we'll be PLATINUM!
Oct 17-23 we're doing WDW. I believe that we wanted to all get together on the 17th to do the food and wine fest so that Marilyn could join us. But if Marilyn and John are leaving on the 18th out of Miami....we just might miss them.

John said he'll find out on Monday, but he has been told that the paperwork for him to transfer to another job has already been done. Now it's a matter of seeing where they put him and if it's in the hospital then he has to see if he can transfer into another area. Things are definitely going to change for him.:confused::confused:

Well the airports in Northern Spain are closed today, so a good job Monica and Jackie weren't trying to get to London today.
Also I believe TA flights are taking longer as they are going round the ash cloud which is over the Atlantic.
As long as that volcano keeps blowing ash clouds, no overseas travel is safe. It's subject to rerouting and cancellations. I feel bad for anyone doing the baltic, the med or the TA that has to fly into the affected zones. Who knows how long this could continue either. What a nightmare.

Kris just IM'd me to say that he's moving back in with his mom and Joe. He said he'll be going to adult ed classes and getting his diploma and graduating. He still has his job at Burger King and will plan and prepare for his move up here. I really hope it works out for him. But if Joe wants him gone, it's only a matter of time before he gets kicked out again. Only time will tell.

Given that he loves both food and wine, this seems crazy BUT September 2012 (and our 30th wedding anniversary) is calling and I WON'T be taking no for an answer on that occasion... ;)
Kaz, sorry Richard won't get to join you in Oct, but hoping he enjoys his new job...and 3 month 'garden leave' :woohoo:

I think I'm just now coming to terms with the changes at my workplace that were actually implemented in Dec 08, especially financially :worried: I would look for employment elsewhere, but I am not willing to give up my 4 weeks vacation time for one or two weeks at this stage of my life.
I may have to give up Thanksgiving at Ian's and Alaska
I haven't accepted acquiescence quite yet though. I am feeling defiant! I refused to turn the furnace on last night, though it was freezing :cold: and I have packed my lunch for work all week :thumbsup2

My head has been pounding all day today. First time in a while, so I'm not complaining much, but was dozing on and off most of the day, didn't get dressed until 3pm. Tyler was such a good sport though, and found lots to do. He cleaned a little colored, played Webkinz online, did a whole workbook of writing practice that I got him for Christmas, and watched a couple DVDs.
We went out for groceries and then out for pizza for supper, then some more shopping because we forgot stuff the first time. ;) We cleaned the inside of our car really well, then Tyler read 133 pages of a "Dick and Jane" book. :scared1: Only 10 more pages to go, but he just decided he'd had enough. He did a GREAT job too! :goodvibes So then he had me Google "Dick and Jane" to see what other books he can get like the one he has. :goodvibes
I'm going to go watch "Survivor" from this past Thursday and head to bed, hoping to get rid of my headache by tomorrow.

It was a nice day up here. Sunny!:cool1: Getting up and going to the girls soccer games is so much better when its sunny and not freezing/raining. Both girls are enjoying their first season of outdoor soccer, and Kaleigh is enjoying having her daddy coach. Luckily 4 of the 5 kids are fairly good at listening, so Ken isn't going batty dealing with them all.
Time to share some pictures again. :goodvibes

She gave me the choice of toast or cereal :thumbsup2 Hopefully it will be sunny, as I want to take the girls out with their bikes and let Shaelyn get some confidence, as she is so close to mastering her bike. :goodvibes
Michelle - glad you enjoyed Danny Quinn. Happy early Birthday to the QM!
Deb - is Kris ever a yo-yo for things looking up and then falling apart. Hopefully this time it all goes well :goodvibes
Kathe - 4weeks vacation is hard to walk away from! Hope you are able to make it all work and still get your Thanksgiving trip :goodvibes
Holly - hope your headache goes away fast. You sure have been getting less of them compared to a year ago :thumbsup2 Its awesome that Tyler's enjoying reading now!:cool1:

Our Mother's Day is usually sometime in March. I believe it it the mid weekend between beginning of Lent and Easter, so it moves. Bit, I have been pleased to have 2 Mother's Day's since coming on this thread!!!!! the last 2 years we have been in the US(well 2 years ago at Castaway Cay, so officially the Bahamas) so that was nice!! And for me it was fly into MCO and drop luggage in our room at the Hyatt.(Monica hadn't arrived yet, as she did the DTD meet first), then head to the lobby for our meet. Carol & Doug were the first DISers I met there! Dinner was in the airport at Macaroni Grill (I think) with Nan and her clan. It was a late night as Monica and I waited for Ian & Sukie to arrive (around 11PM).

I see you've all been a tad busy while I was gone.
Not sure how many of you know, but we were in WDW for a week.
We stayed in a DVC studio in the Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas. We were in the original building, now called Jambo House. It was great to be able to see animals from our balcony, but we had a rather long walk to our room. I could not believe the length of the hallway.
We liked the Animal Kingdom Lodge, and would stay there again, but there was something about it that made it feel just too removed. The Wilderness Lodge too has a remove feeling but that's due to theming and not geography. At the Wilderness Lodge you take a short boat ride and you're in the Magic Kingdom. This resort felt geographically remote, and it was quite a drive to get anywhere.
Because of all the travelling I've been doing lately, I was really not emotionally prepared for this vacation. I essentially went from being away from home for work to suddenly being at Disney World.
The weather was also much hotter than we prefer, more like July or August weather than May weather. There's a reason we don't go to WDW in the summer and stick to either early spring, or late October or December we find it just too hot. This was like being there during the summer. We found it too hot to keep any sort of energy level up.
Consequently, we did spend a lot of time taking naps in our room.
We also didn't have many dining reservations. We ate at Boma which was again wonderful, and we also had breakfast there. We also did a walk-in for lunch at Tusker House in the Animal Kingdom. It was a wonderful African/Indian inspired buffet and was a remarkable meal for a theme park.
Also remarkable about this trip was that there was zero food drama. Disney has gotten much better about special dietary needs, especially vegetarian. The chefs at Tusker House and Boma came out to talk to us and give us a tour of the food, and were detailed enough to point out a rice dish made with Chicken stock. When we ate breakfast at Boma, the chef made Sukie a separate omelet and potatoes to avoid cross contamination. There were eggs and potatoes on the buffet line, but we could see guests dropping bacon in the eggs and using utensils they had used for sausages to take potatoes.
Even the counter service restaurant at AKL, Mara, accommodated Sukie by making separate eggs and potatoes.
The biggest surprise was Pecos Bill's in the MK. They have about 3 non-meat selections on the menu, and all three are prepared in a special cooking area on the other side of the restaurant, near the condiments station so as to avoid cross contamination.
It seems like Disney is taking these needs very seriously now, or perhaps enough guests have been complaining like we've been to make a change.
As you know, we met up with Monica for dinner at Kona Cafe, which was wonderful. I had tuna steak with wasabi Hollandaise. My food was incredible. Sukie and Monica each had the Pan Asia noodles which they liked.
We had only one bad food experience which was at Mexico in Epcot. I have never thought that it was the best Mexican food around but it was always at least good. The San Angel Inn has always held a special sentimental place for us, since it was where Sukie and I had dinner on our very first trip to WDW together, 22 years ago.
Sukie's food, the one vegetarian selection they have (they used to have about 3 or 4 choices) was passable. My entrée, chicken in mole was downright terrible. It was an over microwaved, dried out, chewy and stringy chicken breast with some mole sauce thrown over it. The dish was completely different than it used to be, and I know, since I have had it there many times.
I was really disappointed and felt ripped off. I know that the prices are going to be high, I'm prepared for that, but at least I've always felt we had good dining experiences. I have never seen a dish so ill-prepared before in my life. It was terrible even for cheap cafeteria food.
So we decided to bid a fond adiós to the San Angel Inn and will not be eating there again.
I think I've really come to like having a vacation that was not booked up with dining plans. I like our ability to be spontaneous and not necessarily be locked down to being places at specific times. I think the number of dining reservations we had worked out just fine for us.
We also visited the Earl of Sandwich a few times on this trip. Very happy to have simple and quick meal.
On Friday night we met up with Monica, Vicki and Greg for a very pleasant evening at DTD Disney. We had eaten earlier at the Earl of Sandwich and so kept them company for dinner and ice cream.
We got home yesterday morning and had a very early flight out of Orland. We left at 8:20 am, and so were up at 4:00 am. That sort of took it out of us and we were zombies for most of yesterday.
This evening I am flying back to NY for another 4 days of work. I'm not sure what my travel schedule is going to be like. I would at least like to have sometime here at home. But, I think from here on, I am going to be in NYC for about 2 weeks out of every month.
Not it comes time for us to plan our big family trip to WDW in October. We arrive on October 9th and leave on October 23rd. We're going be there for a fortnight. We'll be staying at Old Key West in a 2-bedroom lock-off. We're at that resort for a couple of reasons: 1) It was the lowest points for a fortnight; 2) the units are much larger than any of the other DVC resorts.
Hopefully the project I'm on will settle down to the point that I can plan this vacation.

Hi Ian and welcome back.
Glad you enjoyed your trip despite your negatives. I guess at least you rested more because of the heat, and that would be a good thing within your busy life right now.
John always says he wouldn't be too interested at staying at AKL or Villas for the reason of being so far from anywhere. We do like to visit however for a nice Boma breakfast occasionally.
We don't book many dining reservations either, but more because we eat offsite more, which I do know you don't wish to do. We also really find it difficult to eat all the food they force on us on the dining plan!:rotfl2: I do believe that desserts are off the dining plan next year and I prefer desserts to starters. However, if we ever got a good deal with the dining plan then I would be happy to book up a whole load of restaurants ahead of time.;)
I'm so pleased that Sukie's vegetarian diet is easier to enjoy in WDW now. I think Disney really are getting to grips with dietary needs, even better than lots of other places. I know when we met Kaylee back in February that she was impressed with the Gluten Free options. My no alcohol was dealt with very well too, and that wouldn't be a common one at all.
Hope we get to meet up in October.

I know Heather and Tom and Bethany....Heather was so supportive when I was in the hospital the first time with my leg. I'm sorry that we didn't get to spend a lot of time with them on the PC cruise. But we saw them at Disneyland afterwards for a bit.
I would be soooooooooo worried about the flight to Barcelona right now. Hopefully they won't be affected, but how scary that it's so uncertain. It depends on which way the wind blows. That's not comforting. I'll keep positive thoughts for them that everything goes well and that there are no complications.

Marilyn - when is UK mother's day? I remember it isn't the same as US/Canada but can't recall when.
Happy Mother's Day to everyone, whether you're celebrating or not!
LOVE the pics Shannon....thanks for posting. I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day breakfast in bed.
Yes, poor Kris is so lost and unwanted....I have to feel very sorry for him. I hope he can work it out this time too.

Ian, hugs to you friend. I'm so sorry that you have to leave home tonight already to go back to working in NY. I'm even more sorry that you'll have to be travelling there for 2 weeks out of 4 every month.
It's great that you had some time off in between to spend a week with Sukie at the happiest place on earth. Sorry it was so hot though. I enjoyed reading all about your trip. Glad that you got to see Monica this time. I'm looking forward to October. We'll see you then.

My brother just called. He wanted to know if I was going to bring flowers to the mausoleum for mom today. I said nope. It's too sad and depressing and I'm not going there today. I would prefer to not think about it. I'll go on a different weekend...when it's not so hard.

Happy Saturday!
:goodvibes
Here's the girls last week showing off their art:

And here's a shot of Shaelyn when she was starting to get the hang of riding her bike without me hanging on:

Shannon, I love the chalk artwork the girls did outside, very cute! :goodvibes And YAY SHAELYN for mastering her bike! :yay: VERY cute that they gave you breakfast in bed. :lovestruc
Yes, I do have less trouble with headaches. I do get them almost as often, but they're usually only for a day, where they used to be 2 or 3 days long, and they're much less intense. I used to have to lay around feeling my head throb with every movement, but now I can at least function when I have one (most people can't even tell when I have one) because they're so much more tolerable. :thumbsup2

Holly, hope you wake up headache free. Well done to Tyler. There will be no stopping him now!!!:thumbsup2
Marilyn, my mom was so happy for Tyler, she had a new book for him when she came to town today. This one is just as long as the "Dick and Jane" one he just read, I think the new one is 140 pages and it's called "Morris the Moose". He immediately started reading it, but only the first 3 or 4 pages. He's hooked! :goodvibes

Deb, that's a good example of what kind of person Heather really is, all the time. :goodvibes
I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for them too about their flight.

133 PAGES.....OMG that's awesome!!!!! GO TYLER GO!!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:
I know! Each page only has a couple short sentences on it, but that's still a lot for a kid who just read his first whole book a few days ago!

Had an OK day today. Dragged my lazy bones out of bed around 10:30. It was hard to get up because I didn't sleep well last night, my head was pounding all night. The problem was I didn't realize I was out of Excedrin until after Tyler was in bed, so I just had to suffer through it without having anything to take. As soon as I got up this morning we headed to the store so I could by something to take. That kept it down to a tolerable level the rest of the day. :thumbsup2 My mom came to town, we all went to Subway for lunch and then to a show at the planetarium. Afterwards, she asked if she could go check out my backyard. She already came prepared to dig up one of my bleeding hearts plants to take home with her. They spread like crazy and drive me nuts, so I was happy! Then she gave me a hard time about not mowing, how I was bringing the neighborhood down, etc. Whatever. So after she left, and Tyler left soon after, I finally mowed and weedwhacked. Only the front yard though. ;)
Head starting to pound again. Heading to bed early because tomorrow is going to be horrible at work. Two people will be out, so I get to play the role of 3. Yuck.

This day 2 years ago I did lot of laundry. We dropped one car off at one hotel close to DTD, walked all the way up to the other end of the road in that hot hot heat to pick up another car, and went to the meet at DTD!!! Oh, and packed again!
Boy what a hot day!
It was a late night as Monica and I waited for Ian & Sukie to arrive (around 11PM).
.
2 years ago today I was at the Poly and then I went to the DTD meet then we had the great pool party at the poly pool with the kids!!! (and dole whips off of the left over snack credits I had...:thumbsup2)
I still find it hard to believe it is all over, though it isn't as bad now. It was really the best holiday ever.
Reunion... 2012... Fantasy... be there... :thumbsup2
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!!!
I hope all my friends are enjoying and celebrating Mother's Day today....hope you all make some fantastic memories forever!! Many Hugs, Kisses and much Love.:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc
