Good Morning Everyone!! Wow New Thread, this was a surprise this morning.
I am on Page 2, at least.

I am 8 days out until I head to WDW. Next 7 days are one of the busiest times we have at work - Spring Commencement Printing time. Not to mention there is a Horse Race going on a mile south of campus this weekend, which makes Traffic a headache for the next three days.

I got some good news at Physical Therapy yesterday - after 4 sessions, she said I show improvement in flexibility of my knee. I have noticed some decrease in pains, but I still get shots of pain after sitting for a while or when on stairs.

I think the purpose is to stay to connected. To get to know each other.

Many of you have met in person and know each other. I don't have that advantage and I am still trying to realize fully who is who. I hope once I meet everyone, I will know which Kathy and Kim is which!

It was around 4:30 this morning. I woke up earlier than I wanted to for getting up.

So I plug the podcast into my ear and listen until I fall back asleep. It was the show where they talked about Bob, Teresa and her trip planning.

In my dream, there was a six foot tall paper on the wall listing things to do. I think it was the podcaster's list of things they wanted to do if they had enough time.

At the bottom, was my name - LYN - 3:45-4:00 AM. I guess I was put in charge of the activity for that time period.
That is a little early for me. Tracey, you gotta help me out! What is a good early morning activity?

Hi Lori's friend - Cindy - Welcome :flower3:

Hi Corky nice to meet ya!

I guess I need to do an introduction.

Hi Everyone! I'm Cindy (36) and DH (45) is Gerald, we're from Southern Louisiana about an hour north of New Orleans. No kids but three spoiled kitties. I'm a longtime Disney fanatic and DH has been pushed into the lifestyle!

This will be our first cruise so why not make it the best one we could find!
While visiting BFF Lori and Rick (thebeadpirate) a few weeks ago we discussing the wonders of the Disney Podcast cruise. The wheels started turning at how to bring the subject up to DH. With much emphysis on the adult only areas and booze he thought it was a great idea! :woohoo: I actually think he would have agreed to anything that didn't include a 7 day trip to the parks. Now the planning begins, Fish extenders, passports, clothes, check lists, I love it!

Looking forward to meeting everyone! :goodvibes

The Oaks was a very close race yesterday. The Derby today could be wide open depending on track conditions at race time. It POURED down rain over night and early this morning. Still raining now. Supposed to stop the heavy rain mid afternoon and lightly sprinkle the rest of the day.

There will be mud slide contests in the infield I am sure.

I'll be watching it from the comfort of my nice DRY house :happytv:

Good Morning from Soggy Louisville Kentucky.

Flooding here not as bad as last August, though my building at work did suffer some flood damage from the storms this weekend. South of us got it far worse this time around - Southern Kentucky & Tennessee took the brunt of the storm.

Fabulous Brandie! It's great that you were able to have the celebration and the bag - woot!

Happy Monday. < ---that doesn't even sound right

The weather is nuts this year! My American friends got all our snow, and now the rain is staying south of us too...they are starting to call our situation the "invisible drought". Our rivers are already low because we didn't have the snow pack to melt like usual.

2 more working nights and then vacation time! WOOT!

Hi Everyone

We are fast approaching the 1st anniversary of PC 1.0. As I reflect back on the cruise I can't help but remember a lot of the great relationships we made and fun we had along the way. A lot of great friendships were made not just on the cruise, but the entire week.

It all started with the Muddy Buddy Run & Ride at the Wide World of Sports Complex. Three Teams took to the course and raised a great deal of money for Give Kids the World Village of Central Florida. We also had an awesome cheering section! Thanks to everyone who donated and made it an event we'll never forget. BTW - This year two teams are taking to the Muddy Buddy course. Make sure to show them your support again this year for Give Kids the World. It's a terrific organization! Here's the link where you can donate for this year. :)

The cruise itself was just spectacular. It was my first cruise and our family went into it not knowing what to expect. Thanks to everyone on the DIS and Dreams Unlimited Travel we had a great experience. I came out of it loving the cruise experience; especially on the Disney Cruise Line. I believe we were spoiled a bit cruising as part of the Podcast Cruise 1.0. There were so many little extras along the way including; the great celebrity speakers, the live podcast recording, the party at the Heads Up bar on Castaway Cay, and even a special brunch at Palo. If you are on the fence whether to join Podcast Cruise 2.0 you really need to do it. You won't be sorry. As I mentioned above a lot of friendships were made on the cruise, and for that I'm truly thankful I cruised with 400 of my bestest friends. :grouphug:

To top it all off we got to enjoy Drink Around the World 2.0 on the Friday evening after the Podcast Cruise. Again...We reinforced our friendships by enjoying EPCOT's World Showcase and some of our favorite spirits. This was simply and awesome way to top off our trip. So many great people.....Plus we could reflect on the wonderful cruise we just enjoyed. An unbelievable week our family will never forget.

Aaron try explaining to people how you cruise with 400 of your best internet friends.
We formed that bond before leaving for that trip through the thread.
Then you are trying to explain to family and friends how you are going on a cruise with 400 of your friends that all love the mouse and the house!
Then just when you think they are going to get it, they ask you ( You know all these people?)
Then the explaination of yes I know them, but most of them I haven't met in person yet!

I understand what you are all saying. It's kind of funny, but all the time I've spent on the DIS prior to the podcast and the Unplugged Board was strictly for Disney or theme park information. I never really got to know people per say. I think we had a few small Indy meets prior which were a great way to meet fellow DISers. With the advent of the Unplugged board it seems we've turned into one big happy family (I'm reluctant to say social network because I feel like it's more than that).

I just tell people I've made a lot of friends who I share a common interest. I've met almost all of you so we are now past the human connection. Let's face it, we are using the Internet for what it was intended to do....Bring us all together. I think it's awesome and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I feel pretty lucky to be going through life during a time when we have all this technology at our fingertips. I don't and won't ever take our friendship, the DIS, and the Internet for granted. We are all lucky to be here. :) :) :wizard:

I was asked to take part in a several month survey of my internet usage when I lived in Pgh. I had to fill out surveys and they came to the house several times and interviewed my family. The premise for this survey was how isolating surfing the internet was.

I kept insisting how it had broadened our horizons. I told them how I had friends all around the world that I wouldn't have had if it weren't for the internet. They never get it. When the survey results were released it proved their point that using the Internet makes for a lonely person.

I still can't believe how great it is to meet people online and then meet them in person. I truly do have friends around the world.

Nothing will ever top getting to meet so many wonderful people on Podcast 1.0. I also have a hard time explaining to friends and family about the DIS and the Podcast cruise. They don't know what they are missing.

I don't know what I would do if it weren't for the DIS. I used to frequent the CB here on the DIS, but never truly connected with anyone over there. There were a few folks that I talked to regularly, but I had met very few of them. It wasn't until the Podcast Forum came about that I really connected to folks. Through the thread for PCC 1.0, and the various trips to WDW, I have finally found my "place". I have met so many wonderful people who I can truly call friends, including my BFF, Jen! :grouphug:

Hey it's HUMP CHAT day! :thumbsup2

Ordered some new luggage last night for 2.0. The stuff we used on 1.0 is getting a bit tired. Still has some use left but wanted something that was expandable.

Originally wanted a 29" rolling suiter but those things are too big and put you in danger of exceeding the 50lb limit for checked luggage. Went with the 26" that is expandable. After a week of research decided to go with the Delsey Helium 250GX. Got two of them. One for Deb and one for me. TravelPro was in the running but I didn't like the features as well as the Delsey and the Platinum line was way too much money.

Thanks so much for all the details - I think I'm going to look at getting 2 of the 26" uprights and then a carry-on with wheels too.

I hate to spend a bloody fortune on luggage - the airlines just beat it up so badly. On the ABD trip to California they actually dented the framework of one piece. I think they dropped it from 30,000 ft

You're most welcome. :)

The Delsey luggage I'm getting is on closeout everywhere in limited offerings. Altman's has the platinum version only but you can find black if you look around at other sites. They also have the 3pc 250GX platinum set for $249 and that includes a 21", 26", and 29" upright. An outstanding price. For a little bit more ($38) than (2) 26" you can get the full set. I'm tempted but really feel the 29" is too big and I already have smaller bags. So no need to spend any extra money for what I didn't need.

And the main reason I got the Delsey was it has the ballistic nylon construction. Big plus.

Good luck with you purchase Marilee! :goodvibes

The 29" is great for light bulky stuff like snorkel gear tho. But is it stoopid that I have to carry the weight of a scale around so I can weigh my bags? 50 & I are fast friends :rotfl2:

We're thinking of doing that in September as we've never been there. On docking back into CC we are flying from Orlando to Ft Myers on Southwest and I am hoping to book an afternoon flight so we can go see Ice at Gaylord Palms. Something else we've never done...

We visited KSC for the first time in Dec and it was fab :upsidedow Hmmm...had forgotten about Ice - may try to fit that in since I don't know the next time we'll be down in Dec...& a MVMCP :rolleyes1 We only have 5 days in Orlando :scared:

I am trying to get through my last day of work before I head to the world tomorrow.

I need to start packing!!!!!!

Hi Karen -

One nice thing about ICE is that it doesn't take all day to see -
Last year Dino & I had our usual late flight out of Orlando ( 5-6pm if memory serves ). After packing in the morning, we got our luggage down to the airport check-in counter at the resort and checked out. We then went over to the Gaylord Palms-did ICE and still had time to go back to Downtown Disney for the rest of the day before heading off to the airport.

It's official...I have graduated from college! Woot!! My parents and my brother and his family came down yesterday to celebrate. Mom and Dad went to commencement with us and then brother and his family joined us for dinner afterward. We went to Stone Creek for a nice dinner and Mom and Dad presented me with a graduation gift...

In the gift bag was a bunch of random scrapbooking related items...inks, stamps, paper, etc...but then...folded up inside of a piece of purple tissue paper was the biggie...

My Mom is buying me a D&B DCL bag!!!!!!:dance3::woohoo::cool1: I just have to decide which one I want...I think I want the large tote...but I can't decide. I've got to look at the pics again...I won't get it until next month as they are going on the Double Dip at the end of May on the Wonder. But I am way excited!!!! :dance3: I even called Jen from the restaurant to share my exciting news...:rotfl:

I know I am late but I wanted to congratulate you again on your graduation. :worship:

I can't wait to get on the boat and grab a purse. I hope they are still there in December.

:grouphug:

http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb190/cdpa4d/Picture039-3.jpg

To top it all off we got to enjoy Drink Around the World 2.0 on the Friday evening after the Podcast Cruise. Again...We reinforced our friendships by enjoying EPCOT's World Showcase and some of our favorite spirits. This was simply and awesome way to top off our trip. So many great people.....Plus we could reflect on the wonderful cruise we just enjoyed. An unbelievable week our family will never forget.

Great pictures, great memories. It was the best vacation I've ever taken and I can't wait to do it again.

Ack!
Last year we tried to go to our favorite Mexican restaurant on Cinco de Mayo. The place was mobbed with college kids looking for drink specials.

I think we will more likely go tomorrow night.

We always celebrate everything a day late. St. Patty's day on 3/18, Cinco de Mayo on 5/6 and Fat Tuesday is always on Wednesday at my house. :)

Ugh!
I met with my boss yesterday and she askd "if I was happy? At work, personal life?" Seems it has been brought to her attention by different people who are worried / concerned about me. That I just don't seem happy.

Geez!

The library building project has been very stressful and I have often been in the middle trying to please different groups of people.

I sometimes tried to distance myself telling myself that it is not MY library when things didn't go the way I thought they would.

In truth, I am here more than I am at home. Some of this project was like living in a place for almost twenty years and having someone totally redecorate and more without consulting you. Yes, it is wonderful that everything is nice and new. But wall colors, pictures on wall, floor coverings - not to my taste! And sometimes it slips that, no, I am not happy.

Obviously, I need an attitude adjustment!

I am so looking forward to this wonderful trip next December!

I have about had it with this week - can we declare it over now? With a sick cat in the middle of my night shifts, I lost a lot of sleep. This morning we were woken up to a sick child at somewhere between 2 and 3. She seems to have what would be diagnosed as a "norwalk like" bug I am sure. I will spend the rest of the day between laundry, disinfectant and keeping her fever down.

I need to start packing!!!!!!

I hate it when things are remodeled/rebuilt and the upper management forgets to ask what the people who actually use it on a daily basis need. They know better than anyone else what will work and what won't.

We had a lot of fun, but it was exhausting too - lots of ports and lots to see at each port, but I'm so glad we've been able to experience seeing more of Europe, in fact DH wants to go on a Med cruise again :thumbsup2

Welcome home Becx & Gav! I was wondering if you would make it through with the ash cloud threatening to wreak havoc again.

The first we heard was on Monday or Tuesday morning, but that was only affecting Ireland, when we disembarked we heard it had moved to Scotland and could potentially affect London - I was hoping by the time we got to the airport they had closed London so we'd have a stay a bit longer :rotfl: One American family Yvet knew were going home via Ireland after doing the Trans-Atlantic and Med cruise but they couldn't get on another flight for 3 - 4 days :scared1: So they looked at the cost and it was cheaper for them to get back on the ship and do another Med cruise than to get hotel rooms and food for all of them for those few days :thumbsup2 I like the way they think :goodvibes

The highlight was Italy, I loved everywhere we visited and would love to see more. Another place we'd love to see again is Malta, it was great to wander around. Also we loved the CM's we met, great personalities I think that's what we miss the most :sad1:

On the other end of the scale the last sea day we went through a storm that had force 10 gales :scared1: That was an experience I'm not sure I'd want to repeat :sad2: Water got everywhere, getting into the elevators it was running down the entrance, the laundry on deck 2 flooded and the day after our bathroom was full to the step with water (which I put my foot in ) I felt so sorry for the CM's having to get everything back to normal for the next cruise

Morning!

Working 3:30 to midnight again this week!

IT's been a crazy few weeks at work with all the enumerators being trained and hitting the streets! The stories we are hearing back have been hysterical!!!

Let's see, so far we have had an enumerator take a swing at his crew leader, a few car accidents (no injuries), one who was almost arrested, one who had a gun pulled on him, one who insists on carrying a gun, several scary dogs, and one who unfortunately had a heart attack and passed away.

And it's only been 10 days!! :scared1:

Looks cool Paul. Too bad we're too old to play on it.

I thought adults could go on too - or is it another bit they've built?

Statistically, it is more dangerous to walk drunk than drive drunk per mile ;) You just don't really kill innocent people with walking though...

During those times (walking) I prefer to be referred to as stability challenged. :drinking1

Pelican plunge is for all ages (but according to others, it is about 11 feet deep where you have to swim to it) but I wonder about the water temps as well.

It makes me think of the slides at River Country. There was a slide there that plunged you into a pretty deep pool with a bit of a current. It was not for a weak swimmer...

Would you like me to go first and tell you how it is ;)

Checking-in Dec. 9th - 12th. The only studios available were Saratoga, Old Key, and AKV savanna view. I chose Saratoga Springs.

We tried to switch to BWV or BCV but I was told they only had studios at SSR and OKW. We're going to stick with SSR but keep calling to see if there is a cancellation. I don't want to go on a waitlist for those nights as we have a longer stay afterwards and we're hoping to get in somewhere else so we may need to waitlist for that portion.

IT'S OFFICIAL!

Unfortunately, we will not be sailing on Podcast 2.0.

Despite booking PodCast 2.0 while onboard the EB TransAtlantic (in writing), DCL took TWO WEEKS to blame DU (yes, that's right) as the reason for the Disney Magic Onboard Sales Manager having to CROSS OFF my notice of selecting DU as my Travel Agent. Accordingly, DCL is refusing to honor my reservation, listing DU as my Travel Agent.

DCL went so far as to say that I could have had selected EITHER Disney Cruise Line as my travel agent, or my EXISTING Travel Agent (EB TransAtlantic booked on points, so that would have been Disney Vacation Club). Since I was booking PodCast 2.0 on cash, there was no way to select DVC, so DCL selected themselves are my Travel Agent.
:scared:

Get this ... DCL is saying they do not have any information on DU - DCL does not know who they are - DCL does not have DU's proper information - DCL does not have DU's phone number. I AM DEAD SERIOUS!

I had been working with Tammy @ DU on my Inaugural Alaska Cruise (5/3/11), which has been booked since day one. I realize the PodCast goes through Tracy, so I informed Tracy of my reservation on 4/26 (I got off the ship in Barcelona on 4/24). Tracy has been very nice, and apparently escalated the matter on to DU management while the first MED cruise was still in process.

I am not a fan of short cruises. The only reason for signing up for this cruise, was due to two others DISers on the EB TransAtlantic & MED, who told me of the added events and fun of a PodCast cruise.

I am waiting for DCL to wake the heck up and fix their screw-up!

I am glad you got Tracy on it. I'm sure I got on her nerves when I contacted her because DCL did something similar to me. I booked while on board and while yes I was slightly unprepared (didn't have Tracy's last name) they still put me in a tight situation. While booking I requested to book with Tracy with DU. They said they needed a last name. As an agent myself with another agency I then asked could I put it under DU and add the specific agent later. Nope! So then they said your only option is to book under you or under DCL and change it later. So..I booked under DCL, came home and emailed Tracy to get it changed. Well after going back and forth with them telling her it couldn't be changed (when I know it can) and causing all kinds of drama I finally got it changed. I owe Tracy! :worship: Tracy!

Donna and I have had Ivan on EB Panama (Aug-Sep 2008), EB Caribbean/Tortola (April 2009), EB Caribbean/St. Croix (December 2009), and of course, EB TransAtlantic (April 2010).

As for DU ... Tracy was very nice ... but said DCL would not budge ... even after escalating the matter to DU management. I have to go back to talk to DVC Member Satisfaction, as DCL seemingly is doing something to corrupt each of my cruises. I'm thinking I am on their black-ball list for some reason. 3 separate DCL managers banned me from the EB T/A cruise ... had to get DVC to intervene. I will have to go the same route again - demanding DVC buy back my points, since they cannot be used on DCL. Ah, Cunard will be a nice change of venue (and cheaper, as well)!

Good morning everyone. I am so ready for some sunshine!!!

I'm pretty excited, though. James ordered me an ipad. Very excited to get it, but feeling a little guilty because of the expense.

Do not feel guilty - enjoy your new toy :goodvibes I have to say I was more impressed than I thought I would be  I may even be tempted to get one, I still don't really want an iPhone :confused3

Happy Hump Day folks! :wave2:

It reminds me of the last Amazing Race series where that girl wore water wings to go down the big waterslide in Dubai - tho that pool was only waist deep :rolleyes1 I still crack up when I think of her asking her BF to "blow them up more!" :rotfl: :rotfl:

We're starting to think about which days in which parks and ADRs too. Only have 5 days in the parks so will go to WWoHP on Friday before the cruise since we don't want to miss DATW and weekends will be busier at WWoHP.

Also want to experience MVMCP for the first time so we'll have to do it the evening we get off the ship. Hmmmmm...how's DH going to like being in MK til midnite and then rope drop at Epcot the next day?

Had a fab time shopping and having dinner with a Dis'er and her family last nite - hard to go wrong with the Cheesecake Factory :lovestruc

cheers,
:flower3:

That Amazing Race episode was so funny (to watch, I'm sure the poor girl was really terrified) and at one point I'm sure he tried to push her down :scared1:

I'm glad we have a nice long holiday - 20 nights in total :cloud9: - as we don't have to worry too much about doing everything in a few days. Although I'm still not tempted to go off property to Universal  HP doesn't interest me enough to go on a couple of new rides (I'm sure for big HP fans it's gonna be great) we'll just wait for it to calm down and do it somne other year.

Don't push your DH - you don't want it to be the last PCC :scared1: I'm sure he'll be fine if he gets something in return though :goodvibes

Glad to hear you had fun last night, of how I miss the Cheesecake Factory :sad1:

One night I'm sure the table was covered in snails :lmao:

But OMG for DCL :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: can't believe they are treating a Gold castaway club member (Yvet told me you smuggled them into some exclusive event :lmao:) like that - I love Disney but I fully support you choosing to spend your vacation money somewhere else - truly shocking they would do that, and with it being the PCC did they not think the other 700 Disers would hear about it :confused3 Bunch of muppets :sad2:
