DH & booking Palos - "dont they just assign it to us?"

Attempted to have the Palos discussion with DH.
"Do you want to do Palos dinner, brunch or high tea?"
"Of course I want to go. Dont know when we'll be back on the cruise so may as well do it all"
"OK - when do you want to go? Do you want to miss a restaurant or a show?"
"Wouldnt we want to miss a restaurant so we could go to the show?
"Well maybe - some people go to the restaurant so they can see the AP show, etc. Some say a few of the shows would be okay to miss. And Tues night isnt a show, it's movie night"
"So which restaurant would you want to miss? Want me to show you the menus?"
"No - why do you have to plan everything?"

Ahhh - anyone else's spouse clueless?

Just read your comment to DH. He laughed so hard and said that his answer would be "which restaurant do I HAVE to wear a suit to? Cancel that one!" haha
My husband thinks I am hilarious that I am planning so much. Although, I think secretly he thinks it is kinda cute!

No, for our fourth cruise(May 03 WESTERN!!) I actually initiated the dinner at Palo's discussion (we've not been up there yet), and did specifically ask what night should we miss. We're looking at dropping the regular Parrot Cay night or maybe the Mexican night(none of us even come close to tolerating mexican food) And I know she enjoys the planning more than me, but I at least ask regularly to know what's being considered, but am usually a bit more active than that. :D

I've had this same conversation with my DH! He is just as clueless and I think he's learned to zone out when I ramble on about all my compulsive planning. I'm going to show him this thread, but I'm sure his response will be, "Palos? What's that!" :)

My DH catches on quick! After we boarded for our second Disney cruise, he looked at me and said "When do I have to head to Palo's to make reservations?" He was so proud that he had remembered from our first trip that his assignment was to get ressies there while I headed to the spa. It's good to make them feel useful.......:D

I think that's the only part of my cruising experience that I intensely dislike - having to stand in line to make reservations for Palo, spa and registering child at Clubs after you board. After a long flight, being tired and pretty grouchy from the rush - I just hate this part soooo much!

Yes, I know that could be settled if I get a 3 or higher category but I do a Category 6 with the verandah and that's about all we can do with the cost of airfare.

Ohhh, do I sound evil this morning or what?! Guess I need another cup of coffee before I see anyone!

I too would like to know how the coffee is. My husband and I enjoy good coffee, and would have a difficult time drinking bad coffee. At least St. Martin will have good coffee, as both the French and the Dutch have good coffee. Maybe we will have to wait until St. Martin for some good java jlmcantwait!

I really don't think anyone looks forward to standing in lines for those ressies. I do understand the necessity, though, as these are limited services, and they want to make sure people will be using them. And nothing guarantees it short of making people show up in person.

Thank god it is not me. I was researching the Palo night reservation last night, looking at the menu's and deciding on which menu he would be willing to give up to go to Palo's.

Then I have to figure out how to communicate it. I like the idea of just telling him the date and have him make the ressie - and hope no questions are asked. ;)

Ship's coffee has caffeine in it. Okay, being ex-military I am sure I could drink mud and not think much about it. No, actually it's okay - nothing to write home about as the kids say.

Up on the 9th? deck - the one with the pools, there is a great coffee bar with a variety of teas, hot chocolate, ice, water and fixings (sugar, creamer, etc.) It's a 24/7 deal so if you just like to drink water during the day, you can refill at the self-service coffee bar.

I think I'm suffering from 50 days and counting syndrome - AGGGHHHH! Glad to know that disvaclub92 is going through this too - hate to have it alone!

While I am sure that "millitary" coffee has its own merits, I am an expert on Fire Station Coffee (WOW) and DW and I found the coffee on deck 9 to be very good to drink and we go up each morning and get a couple of cups.

Fireplug - just a big thank you for the job you do at the Fire Station.

We just had a big open house at our local fire department - amazing how heavy the equipment is that you have to wear and carry. I could barely hold the old style two hand nozzel for the hose. We were also given a ride on the 3 week old, still not in service, state of the art fire truck. Incredible. Just puts us in awe of the men and women of the fire service.
