Since DVC ownership expires on 1/31/42 does that mean that owners with a January use year get points in 2042 and anyone with a Feb-Dec use year don't get points?
Does this also mean that an owner with say a Dec use year that gets their points on 12/1/41 needs to use them before 1/31/42?....spruce

I've got my plan already. I will borrow points so I can use them during 2041.

What if you have a Febuary use year? Nothing to borrow from.

What I was told is that they will be offering that Disney Burial Club mentioned a while back and you can apply your last remaining points to it.

What actually happens, other than the units will be unavailable to members after the end date (regardless of use year), is not that clear in the documents. It would appear everyone would get their 2041 points but they would all have to be used by Jan 2042. No one would get any points in Jan 2042 because Jan is not a use year used by Disney. Likely what will really happen will be announced well in advance (and who knows,Disney may offer extensions). The Vegas odds are heavily against my having to actually deal with the issue

I personally plan to take full advantage of my membership for all of the remaining 42 years. (I have already taken advantage of the past 8 years.) The only problem that I forsee is that I will be 92 and may have a bit of difficulty getting around. So I am up for offers of a wheelchair pusher to accompany me. Any takers???

Actually, it's already less than 41 more years!

I'll be happy to push your wheelchair, as I'll only be 95! See you then!! :D

I'll be 90 then. Don't think I'll be too concerned about the end of DVC then. ;)

I've brought this up before and no one had definite ideas. Obviously there will not be enough units to accomodate everyone with their 2041 use year points and all that may have been banked. Does DVC hold a lottery, do they prorate the last year of points, do they offer the option to end a year early and stop the dues or is it every person for themselves and who doesn't get in eats the extra points. Who knows, I sure would like a specific idea from DVC as I"m sure they have it mostly worked out already. I'll be 83 and who knows if it'll be important to me then, I sure hope so.

They hold a lottery. Members doing business as RoomsRUs gobbles up the openings and re-sells them on E-Bay. The final year no DVC member actually stays at any of the resorts. ;)

Since I will be 95 by then (if I am still alive), I don't think it is something I will be too worried about!

I'll only be a spritely 70....but I figure I'll worry about it when the time comes (or maybe 5 years or so in advance)

If Disney is still the entertainment juggernaut that it is today I wouldn't be suprrised to see them devise a DVC II and offer it for sale to your heirs. If sales went well the first time why wouldn't they sell it again?

I will be the wonderful age of 66 when this happens. I guess I will be looking into purchasing again...since at that point we'll probably be living to about 110 or 120...lol

I'm getting an awful vision of 2042 and all you old fogies sitting around the pool in your bathing suits! Luckily for me, I'll still be a young buck of 80.

I turn 95 exactly two months before DVC turns into a giant cloud of pixie dust. I plan to hold my 95th birthday party there. I figure if I continue my habit of clean living, like never putting 5 into a studio or 1 BR, I should make it until then.

Doc and Diane - - you are the first to be invited, since you will be in my age group. Nancy - - you will be a little young for us at only 92, but I might reconsider.

The party will be at BWV, my home resort. It is low point season, the first week of December, and since it is the last year, I plan the party dates to include those costly Friday and Saturday night points. Thinking of games, I think that the boardwalk would be better than OKW for the wheelchair races, but would be willing to split the stay if Disney still moves the luggage.

The plans are not finalized, of course. I have a while, but those of us in DVC know that planning ahead is everything. 11 month window - - that's nothing compared to how we plan.

I'll only be 98 then so will be glad to push anybody's wheelchair. You see, it'll be easy. I may have some trouble originally getting to the front gate, but once inside, I always "magically" turn into a kid again.

Do you suppose when Ponce de Leon originally explored Florida, he was really seeking Disney World?

Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm planning on doing more add-on's in 2041. ;)

Since I will be a young 70 then and my wife will be a young 72, we will volunteer to push wheelchairs. :D I will be sure to use my 11 month window at BWV to book that Dec time as well. With all this planning for BWV, 41 years ahead of time, we have proved Rich correct in his theory that the 11 month window is vital! ;)

I accept too, but I think we will have to settle for a first floor room or buildings 62-64, as I doubt I will make it up those stairs by then! :D

Since I'll be a young 102 at that time, i won't compete with the oldster's for a room. I'll be very happy to make my last trip to DVC in 2040.

The real question is how fast your car will be able to fly at that time, and whether meals in coach class on the airlines (spacelines?) will still be inedible

Maybe we can apply remaining points towards purchasing a spot for our ghost in the Haunted Mansion...let's see, 999 plus 45,000+ = A Spirited Time!

Tell you what; you folks have been so friendly and helpful to me and DW, we'll throw a big DIS DVC party in 2042 at SSR - and you're all invited! I bet we can get some of the other SSR newbies to join in.

In 2041 we should have a huge DVC Points BINGO tournement, winner take all.

I don't believe there are any January use years. The use year months are February, March, April, June, July, August, September, October, December.

I have a February and December use year. I figure whatever they do it will be fair.

All this wheelchair talk has me thinking that view won't be nearly as important as who gets those HC rooms that everyone avoids now. Wheel-in showers will suddenly be in high demand!

Who needs a view when your bifocals don't work that well anyway?

Sounds like the 11 month window will be CRITICAL for getting a HANDICAP ROOM in the future.

I guess we'll get wheelchair pushing duty, too for all you older folks. :wave2:

Guess we really should think about adding on at SSR! :scratchin
