So last trip, in November, we had the DDP. We didn't put too much research into the restaurants, and were just picking random places for counter service. We just didn't have much of a plan. Boy did that turn around for this trip!! Here's what we did last time:

Counter Service:
ABC Commissary - We actually liked it--it was quick and good.
Cantina de San Angel - This was my favorite counter service, I love nachos!
Liberty Inn - Eh, we weren't super big fans of this place, totally average.
Cosmic Rays - Again, very average.... but yay for fries and cheese sauce!!
Yak n Yeti Counter Service - this was DBF's favorite counter service, he had the beef.

Table Service:
Cape May Cafe - My Favorite!! This buffet was great, fresh and I love seafood!
Planet Hollywood - This was good. So loud, and so much to look at!
Crystal Palace - Ugh, Awful, We hated this place. The food was terrible-- but we got cute pix with Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet
Teppan Edo - We really it here, interaction was great, food was amazing!
Kona Cafe - DBF's favorite meal!! Great steaks!!!
Tony's Town Square - Very yummy! We liked very much!

Only a week and a half to go!! And when we get back, I'll be able to get my ADRs for November!! Always planning!

Well Hello! What a great trip!! I can't wait to get into all the details!! We arrived in Cincinnati about 6pm tonight, got home to see our little doggy that missed us, and ordered a pizza. I've since then taken a few benedryl since the Sci Fi menu doesn't mention that the Peanut Butter/Chocolate cake is made with walnuts in it (not just scattered around--which I kinda freaked out when I saw)... and I'm infested with itchy hives from just one bite--one more bite and my throat would have closed up, lol. I even looked at the menu when we left there to assure I wasn't going crazy. If a dessert is 1/3 walnuts, you would assume it would be mentioned somewhere in the description. Anyway. I'm catching up on DVR, unloading the phones, cameras and camcorders on to the pc, and photobucket--and I'd say starting tomorrow we will be getting a jump on 7 nights/8 days of deluxe dining, club level and some snacks :)

Adding to my previous allergy rant.... I'm allergic to lots of things. Most of them give me hives which I can stand if I really want the food (I'm 27, I know my limits for the most part). Tree nuts are my major issue and will normally close up my throat. I've been to Disney enough that I'm aware of what they do when you're allergic to stuff. They talk to you, then send the chef out, then possibly tell you not to order something you want. With the exception of Teppan Edo (because of the mushrooms for the whole table touching your stuff on the grill), I normally just carefully look over the menu and ask to go without things that may be in question. This has worked pretty well for me, except for twice this week. Something early in the week made my throat swell for 2 days--I had benedryl with me and it wasn't awful, just annoying. Thinking back--it may have even been a clumsy mishap with chlorine and humunga kowabunga, lol---let's just not place blame on that one since I can't really put my finger on what it may have been. I'll check through the pictures and maybe it'll jog my memory :)

Alright, well get ready! Pix and reviews on the way!!
Have a good night everyone!

Okay! So we were on the Magical Express bus to the Yacht Club, and I was organizing my paperwork in my folder and Dave swiped the coupon folder from me, and saw we were staying Club Level Garden View and he was sooooooo excited!! So we arrived, they said our room wasn't quite ready--which was okay because we only had a few minutes to get over to Hollywood Studios for our reservation for 50's Prime Time. We left our stuff with bell services and got on the boat. While we were eating, conceirge sent a text that our room was ready. We were given an amazing upgrade to a lagoon view right outside the lounge. It was so surprising! Upon our arrival back to the room there were birthday cards for both of us, a graduation card for him, balloons with candy and a hidden mickey book for Dave. We weren't expecting any of this. It was just amazing Pixie Dust and we knew we would have a great trip ahead of us!!

So here's our first meal:

I'm not good with names, but we had a male server who introduced us to everyone we sat around. It was fun, we kept our elbows off the table and he wasn't too overbearing about finishing meals, etc. It was fun, but not too much for 2 adults. We saw some wait staff that we may have been annoyed by--but it may have been fun for kids.

We both got cherry cokes to start.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1164.jpg
I had Chicken Noodle Soup, he had a Mixed Green Salad. Both were great! I don't eat lettuce or most things on salads... so he will eat lots when he's here since he doesn't get them at home :) I am picky and allergic to lots... so I ask for plain and altered meals :)

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1165.jpg
Entree: I had Pot Roast with Mashed Potatoes. Very good home cooked feel. Nice and tender and delish Mashed Potatoes. If I came here again... I would get this.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1166.jpg
He had the Chicken Sandwich and subbed Onion Rings for the fries. He liked it. It was a little dry, but it was a sandwich and we were starving :) The onion rings on the other hand, were Fantastic!!! Yum!!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1167.jpg
Dessert: I had Apple Cobbler and it was so good! I was very full and tried to finish as much as I could! He had a Boston Creme Cupcake and he said it was delicious. Tasted just like a Boston Creme Pie!

We are on a mission to try all the restaurants before repeating too many. We both enjoyed our meals here, but don't think it will be an immediate repeat. It would be fun with kids.

.... and this is what we came back to:

View from the Room

Our room was above the lobby on the 5th (top) floor all the way on the left. It was room 5171. You can see it in the corner :)

Thanks for all the support so far!! So after 50's Prime Time, we hit RRC and ToT--the line for Toy Story was a bit excessive for us, so we decided to go back and settle in the room. We hung our there just relaxing till dinner time. We took the short walk to the World Showcase and checked in for our reservation at Le Cellier. They were turning people away as the restaurant was completely booked. We waited about 15 minutes and were seated.

My phone had died, so I had used his to take the pix.... for some reason, they've been giving me problems when I uploaded them--so forgive me if these don't work as well as the others. Going forward all the others are on my phone and the links work for sure!!

The waiter took our drink order. I ordered a frozen strawberry drink and a water, dave went with an iced tea. The link failed for the picture of this, but I was brought a raspberry drink instead of strawberry. I decided not to complain, it was fine--just the principal of not getting what I ordered. I had heard good reviews and I wanted this to be a good experience.
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_0174.jpg

He brought the bread sticks out: pretzel, sourdough and multi-grain.
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_0175.jpg
(This is another failed pic... sorry!)
The waiter told us if we liked any certain bread that he'd bring us more.

The appetizers came out... He got the Cheddar Cheese soup which he is still raving about--and due to the lack of options to my liking.. I was adventurous and tried the lump crab with corn custard. This was not good, lol. Granted, I am picky--just not for me.
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_0176.jpg

Since I didn't like it, I asked for more sourdough (my fave) and he asked for more pretzel bread to dip in his soup. The waiter passed twice saying it would be right out. Well it never came... ever. Strike Two.

Dinner has arrived. He got the New York Strip (medium) with potatoes au gratin. It was well done and very tough--potatoes very salty. He has chanted "worst steak ever" every time this experience has been brought up. It's kind of like a joke now. And he just said it again on the couch, lol. He had choked most of it down since the waiter didn't show up until it was time for dessert. He really doesn't like anything more well done than medium.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_0178.jpg

I ordered the filet with au gratin potatoes (mushroom allergy). I asked it be between medium and medium well. I was served a filet with mushroom risotto. Hmmm. I politely advised the gentleman that served us (not our waiter) that he must have grabbed the wrong one by accident because I got the au gratin. He was defensive and said this was mine. I assured him it was not... I gave him my order and was brought another dinner in a few minutes. Wow, some bread to munch on would be amazing about now :) Dave didn't cut into his until mine arrived b/c he's sweet like that. Our waiter came before mine was fixed and asked why I didnt have a plate, and I advised of the mix up. He said he would get more bread--never got it. He didn't show back up until dessert time. Oh and might I mention... my medium/medium well was also served well done. Lame!! Why!! I want to like this place!!
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_0177.jpg

So we choked down our meals, kinda mad, very thirsty... and basically just disgusted. Service was bad, food was bad--maybe something sweet will be nice. When the waiter asked how we liked our meals, we advised that we didn't. He said we should have told him so he could fix it... well we would have if he would have come around. That just agitated us more.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_0179.jpg
Dave had the whiskey cake and he thought it was good, not great, but good. I had the chocolate moose. I dunno if I was just cranky... but I picked at it and thought it tasted cheap. I wanted out of there--give me the check--let's go. Thank goodness we were on the dining plan because the bill was about $130 for what we wouldn't have even fed to our little dog.

I've heard hit or miss reviews, and unfortunately this was a big miss. I hate to be negative, but the theme of the rest of our trip was, "well it was better than Le Cellier!" Maybe as time goes by we'll get the nerve to give it another shot. Okay, I'm gonna quit griping now and leave this experience in the past!!

Get ready for more!!

Next up: Liberty Tree Tavern

((When I previewed this--none of the pix were working--will try to fix them tomorrow, but he's on his phone right now where all the pix are))

Club Level was the best decision ever!! We really enjoyed the lounge for drinks, snacks and I liked the breakfast offerings (he's not a breakfast person... and I can't survive without it!) He liked it for the beer and cordials. It was also nice for someone to help with reservations last minute when we needed time changes or a quick switch. Only problem is, I dunno if we can ever NOT stay CL now. We're spoiled!! I booked it for 2 reasons--one, it was his 30th and college graduation--two, I just some medical issues and am having continued problems so I wanted to be sure I could grab a drink or snack if I wasn't feeling well. We spent a lot of time in the room the first fews days because of how I felt. It was very nice and I recommend it!!

Great reviews. Sorry to hear about your problem though. It's wonderful you got to go to WDW to help you through it though. There is no more Magical place to help you forget your worries.

I hate it when you get BAD service. It sets the mood for the whole meal. I always say the meal is in a "funk" if my server is awful. Hope you give LeCellier another try sometime and they get your order correct.

So sorry to hear about your experience at Le Cellier. That is just awful :sad2: We ate there for lunch in 2005 and it was just ok. I thought it was overrated back then. That chocolate moose is super cute though! Can't wait to read more :goodvibes:goodvibes

We had the same experience at Le Cellier. We hated it. I really wanted to love it and I told my family how it comes so highly recommended here on the dis. We were so disappointed. It soon became the joke of our trip just like yours:lmao: We would say to the kids, "be good or we will take you back to Le Cellier to eat".

Different strokes...but we just hated it. No one will have to fight for a reservation with me that is for sure. Can't wait to read the rest of your reviews!

We were originally supposed to have a Cape May breakfast, but I moved it to Monday instead. We were just too tired. We stopped by the lounge and it was plenty. We went to Hollywood Studios in the morning to ride Toy Story... got a few others in before heading over to the Magic Kingdom. We were able to hit a few short rides before checking in to Liberty Tree Tavern. It was pretty busy, we waited about 15-20 minutes for our seat. It was Mother's Day, so I understood it would be crowded. Our table had confetti on it for his birthday, it was cute :)

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1174.jpg

For the appetizers I went with the famous Tavern Fried Cheese because I am a cheese stick queen :) He went with the Declaration salad since I deprive him of such leafiness, lol! I stole his tomatoes!!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1175.jpg

The little bites of cheddar rocked our world!! The sticks were good too!! We wanted to eat more and more and more. We will be back for Tavern Fried Cheese!!

Well I guess fried cheese isn't a substantial meal, so we ordered our entrees, lol. David got the Angus Cheeseburger (no mushrooms) with fries. The fries were mm mm good! He liked his burger too!! I couldn't decide between the Chicken and Dumplings and the Pilgrim's Feast. I was back and forth... and I went with:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1176.jpg

It was very good!! I still want to try the chicken and dumplings, but I wouldn't have traded this either :)

Sweet Time!
He went with the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake and he fell in love with it. I wanted something more simple so I went with the Peach Cobbler, but asked for vanilla ice cream instead of marscapone. I loved mine too. It was just like homemade.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1177.jpg

We truly are on a mission to try all the restaurants... but I snuck this our November trip. Already made the ADR for our arrival day. We are craving it. It was just a plain, good meal. We didn't feel like we were going to explode leaving there, or left hungry. We were refreshed and kept on going! Can't wait to go back!!

Fellow Tavern Fried Cheese Fan here! :thumbsup2

(Especially love the little ones - cheesy perfection! :cloud9:)

The apple cobbler looks really good at LTT! So far I've tried the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake and the Brownie a la Mode... both were good, though Ooey Gooey was the Ooey Goodiest so far in my book!

Got an ADR there in a week... also have a ADRs for Cape May (one dinner, one breakfast) next week... can't wait to see your review, though I may not get to see it until we get back.

I'm also on a quest to try every restaurant in Disney... though I'm leaving the deadline on that quest wide open... gives us new stuff to look forward to every trip! ;)

Keep up the good work on the review! I love reviews with pictures!

Great reviews - LLT is one of my favorites and we have ADR's for upcoming trip next month.

We too are staying club level (at BC) and my family does not know. The difference is they have never even heard of it as far as I know, so it should be a good surprise.

Just wanted to add how sorry I am about your miscarriage. I had one too 22 years ago. I was hesitant to try again, but we now have 2 great kids (DS 19 and DD 15). I think it was great you had this trip to recover ;) and take time to celebrate a little.

I will stay tuned for more reviews :goodvibes

We arrived a bit early to because we were hungry. I had a horrible headache and thought food would help. We were unaware of how they did their seatings and ended up having to wait anyway. As we stood outside, I got bit in the face by a bug and it swelled up. Nice. So our names were called and we got our picture with Belle. I had a big red mark on my face, and my purse didn't match my outfit--thanks for the ugly picture. It was "free" so it'll go in my box and I'll pull it out and laugh at it every so often :) Snow White however told me I was wearing purple, the color of royalty, lol. All the princesses asked me if I brought my prince to dinner with me and offered to take a picture. We weren't feeling pictures that night, so I lied and said I didn't have my camera. I actually had both of our iPhones and my kodak playsport. To be honest... the princesses looked pretty shabby. I've seen costumes/makeup looking pretty close to perfect. The girls they had were no where close. I'm sure a 4 year old wouldn't notice--but I was just kind of shocked on how their character selection has gone downhill. Snow White was the best/closest looking one. When we are at a character meal we always get pics with Goofy, Minnie, etc. Just wasn't feeling it. So on to the meal :)

We chose iced teas (I took some Advil) and ventured to the buffet appetizer bar:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1180.jpg

Entree:
We both ordered the Pork Chop with Apple Raisin Chutney and Au Gratin Potatoes. Yum this was good. We enjoyed it very much. As the main course is starting, the princesses are starting to roam around. Again, sorry it was so dark in there!!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1181.jpg

It really was good--I would get it again. Probably won't return till have a little girl (I'm not holding my breath) but it was cute, and the food was good. Just a lot going on. Picture with Belle, getting seated, going to buffet for appies, Ariel, Snow White, Jasmine, and Aurora coming to the closely placed tables, then they interrupt you again with your photo. It's all just very distracting. Not somewhere to go to relax!! Very glad we went for the experience though.

Apparently I was so distracted by the hustle and bustle, my headache and the giant welt on my face that I forgot to take a picture of dessert. It was a sampler of 3 little desserts served on one plate for us to share. I remember eating the chocolate one and fruit from another. Not bad, but not memorable. I really liked my pork chop and potatoes.

Bottom line: If you have a little girl... you have to go here.

Hello everyone! Sorry for keeping y'all waiting, but wow what a busy week! I had intentions on busting a lot out last night, but I was watching my DVR'd Grey's Anatomy and it was so disturbing I couldn't function well enough to multi-task. What a crazy finale!! So my goal tonight is to get at least 3 restaurants done. So stay tuned! I'm finishing up my dinner and I'll be right on it!!

We moved this breakfast to Monday instead of Sunday because we were running on no sleep the day of arrival. Because of my medical issues I hadn't had the energy to pack, and he works until 5am on Friday night/Saturday morning. So I got 2 hours of sleep at home (he got none) and we both got an hour or so on the plane. So my genius plan was to move it to Monday. Welllll I didn't look to see that the Magic Kingdom was open till 1am on Sunday night and we didn't get back to our room till about 1:15. Lol, breakfast was at 7:30am and we arrived at 8:00. They were so nice about it and said it happens all the time. Planning mishap #2: It was Typhoon Lagoon day and I had on my swim suit, cover up (not the cutest outfit), undone hair and no makeup. I was not exactly picture perfect for the characters and it made me sad, lol. I'm very weird about my makeup/hair and outfit in pictures and I dropped the ball on this one. Lesson learned. The characters were awesome and fun!! I had been here for dinner before, but this was my first breakfast experience here.

Aside from all that... the food was great. Great variety, fresh, and we had a great server. I love mini Mickey waffles with their Strawberry/Banana topping. It was delicious!! MMM!!!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1189.jpg

We tried a bit of everything. He likes their cornbread and asparagus. I didn't care much for any of the eggs on property. I am weird about having real eggs. Everything else was good :) I had some fruit too, but I pick at lots of different food and didn't take pix of everything. We both had OJ, he had an iced tea and I drank my weight in coffee, lol. I was still tired and needed a boost! I definately recommend this for a breakfast. I like it better than Chef Mickey's for sure.

I haven't heard too much about this place. We looked at the menu and thought it looked like something we'd like. We also liked the fact they don't take reservations so we didn't have to lock down a time to be back from Typhoon Lagoon. We were starving at noon from swimming, so we left Typhoon Lagoon and arrived at the Boardwalk. It wasn't too busy, but there were some people inside and some were outside on the patio. We took an inside seat. We ordered iced teas, and he got a blueberry beer and loved it. I don't drink beer so I don't know too much about that... but he had 2 and really really liked them.

Appetizers:
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1195.jpg
Okay, so we dug in before we took the pics, but it was yummy! I couldn't decide if I wanted beef or chicken nachos, so they gave me half and half!! So nice!! I got them with cheese and meat only because all that other junk they normally have on it... is not for me! He got the chicken quesadilla and had it finished within a few minutes. He said it was sooo good, then he started on my nachos and wouldn't stop :) Appies were goooooood!!!

Entrees:
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1196.jpg
Dave ordered the Kobe burger with chips. He had trouble ordering because he wanted to try so many options. He has wanted to try a Kobe burger for a while, so he figured he would while he had the chance. I got the New York Strip with Shrimp Scampi. The steak was better than my mess at Le Cellier :) and the shrimp... OH MY the shrimp were fantastic!! The garlic mashed potatoes were yum too! I'm not a snap pea fan, but Dave said they were great. We both can't wait to come back here. I'm getting my same meal, and he wants to try more stuff!! How could this have gotten any better??

Dessert!!!!!
We both got the Chocolate Confusion. We were so full, but it was a nice sweet way to end our meal.
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1197.jpg

If you haven't tried Big River Grille, I highly recommend it!

After this we waddled back to our room at the Yacht Club and took a 4 hour nap :) It was amazing. We woke up in time to fix ourselves up and go downstairs to Captain's Grille. So that'll be up next!!

Don't hear many reports on Big River! With all the talk of LeCellier possibly becoming a Signature, if we decide to still do it, we'll need an OOP dinner. I was thinking Beaches n Cream, but maybe Big River should be it! (Can always go over to Beaches for dessert!) Those nachos looks right up my alley.

So we got up from our nap, nipped on a few club lounge offerings and got ready to go to dinner downstairs. There's something about water park days that make you soooo hungry!! We checked in about 7:45 for our 8:00pm reservation so we went to play checkers in the Yacht Club lobby. We weren't very far into him beating me, lol and our buzzer went off. Going in, we both had studied the menu and knew what we wanted to eat :) The plan was to eat, then go to Downtown Disney to shop! It wasn't extremely busy in the restaurant, but I would call it steady.

The waitress came over after a few minutes and got our iced tea orders (of course). She brought the drinks and the bread and said she'd be right back for our orders. She had a few tables, including a table of 10 next to us. We kind of knew we were doomed, but nothing could stand between me and my crab legs.... I was pumped.

So I'm a bread monster, but get nervous with brown breads because I'm always scared of rye. I don't like the icky flavor, so I almost immediately turned my nose up at it... until David told me it was multi grain and I'd like it. Hmmmm I found my new favorite bread--this bread is also out in the Club Lounge for dinner offerings and I was just finding this out!!! MMMM. I ate this every night after :)

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1198.jpg

So our waitress comes back gets our order. I knew what I was getting, but Dave was caught between a few options. I convinced him on the pork chop because I believe it was a MickeyNicki review that said it was really good (and I wanted a bite!!). A bit later, our appetizers came out:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1199.jpg

Dave went with the Caeser Salad and really enjoyed it. I went with the Crab Cake. I'm rather picky about crab cakes, and normally only love them from a restaurant called the Bonefish Grille here in the area.... but this bypassed and took the lead as my favorite crab cake. Yum!! I like the crispy outside and the flavor was just awesome. We finished our appetizers, I had some more bread.... just waiting for our dinner. At this point I felt like we should be further along... were we going to make it to Downtown Disney?? The waitstaff were preparing for the next morning. They were filling sugar, setting tables, taking drink menus off tables, etc. I just wanted my crab legs!!

Dinner was finally served:
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1200.jpg

Dave's Pork Chops with fingerling potatoes with apples and bacon---OMG yum!! I thought I liked the pork chop at Akershus? This was great!! He voted it was better as well. Not that the other was bad, because we really liked it--this was just superb!! I had the Crab Legs with Red Potatoes and Corn on the Cob. Everything was cooked perfectly! So good!! I have to have my crab legs in every trip and tonight was my night. All around just yum yum yum!! Most likely my favorite food :) We were so engrossed in our meal that it didn't bother us that the waitstaff were still getting ready for the next morning's breakfast. We both cleaned our plates (which is rare especially for me) and we were ready for something sweet.

Our waitress eventually came over, took our dessert order and several minutes later brought it out. I wasn't really sure what I had ordered, lol, just knew it had chocolate in it.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1201.jpg

His was a double chocolate cheesecake with berries, mine was a chocolate something or the other (can't find it on the menu). I thought from the picture it was ice cream balls, but they were actually little chocolate creme puffs... and I'm not a fan of creme puffs. Oh well, it was pretty, and I tried it. Not like I wasn't headed to Goofy's Candy Co in a few minutes.

We got the check and I looked at the time... we were there for two hours and 15 minutes!!! Downtown Disney was closing soon!! I never imagined we'd be there that long. Let me say that the service was not bad, it was just slow. Our waitress was very nice, it was just a long drawn out process. In the future I may just make an earlier reservation so it's not near set-up time. We are trying lunch here in November. I want that crab cake and bread again!!!

Of the whole trip, this was my #2 favorite meal. My favorite 1 credit meal yet. Very Very Good.

We did make it to Downtown Disney. I got a gingerbread man, rice krispy treat and a milk chocolate/peanut butter chip pretzel. So I was okay for sweets since I didn't like that chocolate pastry dessert. We didn't make it too far with our time crunch, but I got a glittery zip up hoodie I've wanted for a while from World of Disney, and I ran into Basin for some more bath bombs, a massage bar and a lip balm for Dave. I'm so addicted to their stuff!! Okay, well stay tuned our favorite meal is rapidly approaching!!

I have long awaited this breakfast :) I had dreams of Tonga Toast for months leading up to this!! We took the bus to the Magic Kingdom and took the monorail over to Poly. We were a bit late due to the transportation system... but it happens... we're on vacation. I was a little nervous about being late, but it was a Tuesday morning and it wasn't busy at all.

Dave gets an iced tea and some kind of crazy juice called Lilikoi (which he liked). I went with Kona coffee (omg yum) and orange juice. I drank a lot of coffee... it was very very good. Service was very good. Meals were served prompt and we were in and out. Very good since we wanted to start our day!!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1202.jpg

Surprise! I got the Tonga Toast with ham!! Okay, lets talk about this. It was interesting, a bit odd, and I'm not sure I ever mad a clear decision about it. The banana stuffing was very hot, and the toast itself was very sweet. I took a bite and while I was deciding if I like it or not, I ate all the ham which was very yummy. It filled me up, so I continued to pick at the toast. I ate the inside filling, and concluded that warm banana is not for me. I'm picky-what can i say?? It wasn't bad, it was unique. I'm really glad I tried it.

He had Steak and Eggs with potatoes and a biscuit. He enjoyed his breakfast steak just as much has his Kona dinner steak! He doesn't eat eggs, so those were pushed aside. It looked really good too!! He likes everything about Kona for Breakfast and Dinner. High recommendations from him!

He didn't show back up until dessert time. Oh and might I mention... my medium/medium well was also served well done. Lame!! Why!! I want to like this place!!

Oh man! We have planned Le Cellier for our last dinner. :scared1: That meat looks soooo overcooked. Who likes overcooked beef? I mean, I've never heard, "I loved my overcooked beef." Anyways, I hope the rest of your meals were better than that!

Let me start by saying we were out of control this day with food. Seriously, I'm not sure where we put it all.

After breakfast at Kona we took the monorail to Epcot because we had yet to venture to the front of the park. We just walked thru the showcase from the Yacht Club. We rode pretty much everything and were done by 11:30 so we thought we'd go over to Nine Dragons and see if possibly they could get us in before our 1:15 reservation. Even though we were getting ready to eat... we stopped thru France at Boulangerie Patisserie.

I got a Strawberry Tart and he got a Creamhorn looking thing:
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1207.jpg

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1206.jpg

Soooooo Good. We'll be back here a million +1 times :)

We made most of our reservations between 1 and 2 and were starving by 12 every day. Lesson Learned. We walked by Lotus Blossom and it was packed. Uh oh, we're gonna have to wait :( We walked in, and Nine Dragons was empty and quiet. Maybe five tables were seated. I couldn't believe my eyes-it was a ghost town. I went to the podium and asked if it was okay that we were early, and they of course seated us right away. It was so nice to go into a restaurant and be relaxed and quiet. I don't even know that I saw a child in there. I saw a few couples and a few golfers. On to the meal:

For the appetizer, Dave wanted the General Tso's Chicking Dumplings, but they were for (2) and I didn't want that. They said they couldn't split it. He was disappointed, but got the cold app Spicy Beef --and he said it was good, not great but good. I think he really wanted the other... looking back I feel bad I disappointed him, lol. I got the Shrimp and Chicken Egg Rolls and they were 100% amazing. I've never had an egg roll that had all solid pieces of meat and vegetables and not stuffed with 85% cabbage. They were huge!! MMMM!!! Okay, maybe I don't feel bad about the dumplings. The sauce was pretty good too. A little spicy (and I can't do spicy) but not too spicy.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1208.jpg

For the entree he got Kung Pao Chicken. From someone who likes spicy (him) he said it had the right amount of kick to it. I dunno what that means because it all burns my mouth off. I was torn between Sweet and Sour Pork and the Nine Dragons Fried Rice. It was so hot and miserable out, the rice sounded great and light. It had a skewer of pretty big shrimp which was good :) In the rice was more shrimp, big chicken and ham pieces. The portion was huge!! It was very good and refreshing. I was pleased. I couldn't understand why this place was so empty!?!!?!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1209.jpg

Here's where this place loses a point with me: Dessert.
There were no options that remotely sounded good to me, so I figured I'd just try the Ginger Cake... eh, didn't like it. I knew I wouldn't--but give me credit--I tried it! Dave was perfectly happy with the Caramel Ginger ice cream.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1210.jpg

End Result: We did enjoy this. It was quiet, relaxing, good food, good service, very pretty decor. I wasn't even upset over the dessert options because I was soooooooo full! Plus, you have an entire walk thru the showcase past a million other yummy desserts. So I call it a win.

... I obviously don't skip dessert :) I stopped at Kaki-Gori and got a cherry flavored ice. A trip wouldn't be complete without 1 or 2 of these :) It was swimming time so we went back to the resort to change :)

Next Up: Beaches and Cream

So we went back to the resort, changed and swam for about two hours or so at Storm-a-Long Bay. How amazing is that pool? Amazing and Fun!! When we were done we were just walking around and thought we would check out Beaches and Cream. I swear that swimming works your appetite!! Plus we love love love ice cream!!

We were seated right away and I knew I wanted the Strawberry Shortcake made with Chocolate Ice Cream (don't judge, I'm weird, lol). He got the infamous No Way Jose and made it disappear in no time!!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1211.jpg

I thought it was very good :) It's hard to mess up ice cream I guess. It was very cute inside too :) We finished our ice cream, went back up to the room, nipped on a few appies in the lounge (we are piggies today!) and took a nap before dinner. We got extra time since dinner was just downstairs :)

Little did we know we were in for the best meal we've ever had at WDW.
Stay Tuned :)

After napping and getting ready, we made our way downstairs to the Yachtsman Steakhouse. They acknowledged all of our celebrations (both birthdays and his college graduation). This was a first. We were given a buzzer and sat down for a few minutes until the table was prepared. We were seated by the manager, who again told us both Happy Birthday and him congratulations. We sat in the little alcove-ish part that looks out by Storm a Long Bay. I liked the lights :)

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1213.jpg

Oscar was our server--we love Oscar. We had personalized menus for our celebrations (a first!) which I forgot to take pix of... but we thought they were great! Dave ordered his iced tea, and I switched it up with a coke. My throat was bothering me and I wanted carbination. Something I ate within the past day or so must have had an almond mixed up in it because my throat felt as if it was almost closed. This is a common occurance for me, lol---super annoying, but nothing new. Anyway, he was ready to take our order. Keep in mind when my throat is like this, I'm a bit cranky. I don't mean to be, but it just happens. I couldn't find an appetizer that I was interested in--or even interested in trying. So I asked Oscar, "what would a little kid order for an appetizer?" He said that they would get chicken noodle soup and I was so happy to hear those words, lol. One of my favorite things when I don't feel great!! This place is already a win and I just have a coke so far!! We finished ordering--he said we made great choices and in no time he was back with our bread and butter with Hawaiian sea salt. Oscar was asking about our celebrations and we told him how our birthdays are so close to each other, and how he graduated from college the week before. We genuinely felt like he cared and was interested in him. He was just great. Our drinks never were empty either :)

Regular Rolls and Onion Rolls. I went the the regular... he went with the Onion.

Appies arrive!

Caeser Salad with Crouton. Very fancy looking! It was a giant piece of lettuce and a giant crouton. Nice presentation... a little work to eat it, but he liked it!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1216.jpg
This is probably the most delicious Chicken Noodle Soup I've had in a while. Oscar says he has a cup of this almost every night. :) I see why! If you go here, request this! It is no where on the adult menu.

Oscar made sure we loved everything and assured us dinner would be delivered shortly.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1217.jpg

Well if you've figured out my man by now... you would know he would order the 24oz Porterhouse cooked medium. It came with fries and I believe I ate most of them because whatever they were cooked in was so good I couldn't stop. His steak was cooked perfectly and he started to work on it. I ordered the filet with mashed potatoes and no red wine sauce. I ordered my steak between medium and medium well (because I have to be difficult, lol) and most places do not get this right---but they did! It was so so so good. Tender, flavorful and no need whatsoever for a sauce or enhancer. This officially ranked as the best filet I've ever had, and filet is what I order when I'm out. Best Steak Ever is what we both said about our meals. Oscar continued to check on us, kept drinks filled, being social and friendly at the right times (not when our mouths were full, lol). We were pleased. (Obviously, lol... just look at this)

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1218.jpg

When it was time for dessert ordering, Oscar brought us a little special treat. Apricot and Chocolate candies. Honestly, if I could have bought a bag of these I would because they were so good.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1219.jpg

I ordered the Yachtsman Sundae (Oscar's favorite!) which was 3 flavors of gelato, and Dave got the Signature Banana Napoleon.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1220.jpg

MMMM luv luv luv. He liked his very much, but was obviously jealous on how amazing mine was :) He still talks about it and can't wait to get it next time!! Which will be November when we do a reeeeeepeat!!

I really liked how much this place cared about its customers. There were a few birthdays and a couple who were having their anniversary behind us. They seemed to have an awesome meal too--they left as we were having dessert. They were all recognized and treated so well. This place is true class.

Oscar came back to us after we were done with dessert. He told us that the couple celebrating their anniversary behind us offered to buy our meal because of our celebrations. We were floored. Our bill was around $135 I think!?!? We were on the Deluxe Dining Plan and the credits needed to be used, so they were graciously declined by Oscar--but it almost brought me to tears that it was even offered. How nice. Really, how nice. We were in such shock about this it was just crazy! Oscar told us that we had touched him and he would remember us--we will remember him too! We assured him we would be back. Just when we were finishing up signing/tipping/etc... he brought us out 2 champagne glasses with Cinderella's castle on them. So pretty, so amazing, what a surprise!! The menus, the service, the chicken noodle soup, lol, the candies, the anniversary couple, the flutes--WOW! This place will always have a place in our hearts. No matter what reviews might say... we had the absolute perfect meal here and nothing could ever change our opinion.

We took on the saying "Best Steak Ever" when talking about this place. We said it about a million times. He talks about the Yachtsman sundae at least once a day, and I'm sitting here wanting a bowl of soup :)

The only bad thing was that we involuntarily compared all of our other meals after this to our experience here. We kind of wished we had this as our last meal because of this!! But then again, we not have had the amazing night that we did either. We booked this for November on our last night. We can not wait to go back!! If you have any questions about this place, please ask me!! Well that's all I have for now. Enjoy!!

great reviews! Liberty Tree Tavern is our favorite for lunch in MK. We went to Le Cellier a few years ago and were really disappointed. Our meal wasn't as bad as yours but it was just eh. Oh man, I really want a No Way Jose right now! The Yachtsman is one of our favorites, I'm glad you had a great time there!

We had started our morning munching at some club level goods and took the boat over to Hollywood Studios. We weren't there very long and we realized... we were hungry, really hungry. We were debating back and forth about eating at Marrakesh. Like I said earlier... my throat was bothering me and I know Disney is great about allergies, but I don't like going through all that stuff. Most of Marrakesh's menu involves almonds. Since I was already irritated and sore, the best option was to switch it up. There was no way we would be able to wait till 2pm either. It was 11am and we were ready to eat our arms off. Italian sounded great to us, so we called our IPO and had them switch us from Marrakesh 2pm to Mama Melrose at 12pm. We did some riding, checked out some shops and we were ready to eat!!

We were seated pretty quickly. All the surrounding and decorations were pretty neat!! I liked the relaxed feel to it--it really fit our current mood. It was really quiet till midway through our meal with the Tupperware convention of about 150+ were seated in our area and the next area over. They were really loud and kind of disrespectful of others. Like they owned the place. This was our second encounter with them. The first being them chanting for about 5-7 minutes thru the Polynesian lobby while we were eating breakfast at Kona. We couldn't hear each other talk it was so loud and lasting so long. It may have been that I didn't have all my coffee yet, but really? People are eating and don't want to hear your chanting, clapping and stomping.

Anywho... back to business.

Iced Teas Please!!

None of the appies really appealed to me so I said I was going to pass, but asked if he could just bring me some crostini without the brushetta. Our waiter insist that I try something and that he would bring crostini with it. He recommended the Antipasto plate. Yeah, whatever, we'll see, lol. Dave went with the Mozzerella and Tomatoes.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1222.jpg

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1223.jpg

Dave immediately dug into his plate--he doesn't complain much. I looked at my "recommendation" and was like... haha this guy is funny. I did take a few nips at some safe looking options, but everything had a funny taste to me. Give me a few points--I tried stuff, chewed it up and swallowed it. I just ate more bread :) Yum!!!

I was ready for my entree :) I got Pepperoni Flatbread with no peppers or onions. I almost ordered the Chicken Parm, but I didn't know what to do. Dave was ordering it so I went with the flatbread so we didn't duplicate.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/4d22b321.jpg

I ate a piece of my flatbread and found it to be very yummy. Dave's Chicken Parm looked amazing so I asked for a bite. Then I asked for another. Then I asked if he wanted some of my flatbread--then I finally came out with it.... (with puppy eyes) and asked him to switch me, lol!! The Chicken Parm and Spaghetti was FANTASTIC!!! I am very picky and for me to say something is fantastic... is rare, lol. The sauce wasn't overpowering, but good flavor, pasta was great, and the chicken was just mmm mmm good :) I want this again. Dave finished up my flatbread--he would have liked the peppers and onions but oh well, lol. He thought it was fresh and flavorful. So far we are happy :) We are trying to pretend the Tupperware people aren't so loud, lol.

This was one of few meals that I cleaned my plate completely. I couldn't stop eating. When I got to the last bite, I was sad--but knew there was chocolate gelato around the corner :) Dave got the Tiramisu.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1226.jpg

I pretty much licked the glass on this too, lol. Wherever there is chocolate gelato--I'm there. Dave's Tiramisu was melting rapidly but he seemed to enjoy it. He said it was a good topper to the meal. When he came up for air, I asked him how he liked it and he said he was really enjoying it :)

We would really like to come back here. This wasn't on our list of places to try right away because of some not so swell reviews--but italian sounded good that day, we were right there, and we are so glad we gave it a try. Sometimes it's nice to switch it up to your current mood. It's hard to tell what you'll be hungry for 6 months in advance!!

We ventured over to the Magic Kingdom for a bit, took the boat over to GF so I could load up at Basin White, then returned back for CL appies, a lil nap, and showers to get ready for Narcoossee's!!

I was predicting Narcoossee's would be our best meal. Stay tuned and see what happens popcorn::

We went into this evening with high expectations of the food, the service and the restaurant all together. Being that this was the day after our "best meal ever" I knew I would be comparing everything.

We left the Yacht Club a little early, took the Magic Kingdom bus, took the little boat over to the Grand Floridian and got to the restaurant in time enough to look around and put our name in about 15 minutes early. We were seated within 5 minutes of checking in. We had requested a window seat, and I thought--just maybe since we're celebrating both birthdays and his graduation... but no. We were up top by the bar. Here is our view:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1232.jpg

At the front desk they tell you that the meal is two table credits. I can appreciate this for people who don't know, but their delivery with the information comes across a little rash. "You know this will take two credits on your dining plan right?" Add a little attitude, and I already felt as if this place was a bit stuffy. Oh well Deena, don't be crabby, you're going to eat surf and turf. So I looked past it.

He got a Happy Birthday menu, I got nuttin, lol. Whatever right? We didn't get a server for a few minutes, when she came she took our drink order. I went with a virgin strawberry daiquiri (included in dining plan) and also ordered a coke--he got... Iced tea :) She wasn't exactly the most pleasant of the waitstaff there. I was observing the other servers and some were very friendly, we just got the cranky pants of them, lol. Just not friendly and we didn't see her much. Drinks left unfilled, very dry, not very magical considering we were looking straight on to the Magic Kingdom :confused3

Also soon after we arrived one of the servers dropped an entire tray of entrees on the floor in the dining room. From every angle, managers with earpieces came out of the wood work like the mafia and shot the poor server a nasty look and made demands from cleaning staff to get it cleaned up. The orders were abrupt and militant. I got a very cold feeling from this situation. Sure, it sucks to have your food dropped, but I'm sure she felt bad enough. I'm sure she wanted to clean it up in an orderly fashion and get them new food quickly, but the management handled it poorly IMO. I wish I could have video taped the looks on their faces and the way they just came from every angle speaking into their earpieces. I felt bad for the server :(

Our waitress brought us the bread which was yummy, and shortly after our appies arrived. We both got the crab cakes:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1233.jpg

We both thought they were meh.... nothing compared to the Captain's Grille. Seriously. Captain's Grille has amazing crab cakes and these didn't compare at all. But it was a crab cake, so I ate most of it as did he.

After our appies were done the lights went down in prep for fireworks. We thought it was super cool how they dim the lights and play the Wishes music. We didn't go outside, though I thought about it--I didn't feel like moving :) Our dinner was served during the fireworks so please excuse the awful picture:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1234.jpg

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1235.jpg

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1236.jpg

We both had the Surf and Turf (mine was sans Choron Sauce).

I'm not the biggest lobster fan (I'm a crab leg fan, shrimp, scallops and clam fan) but it was okay--actually it was good. My steak was meh--good for a steak, not great for a filet--and nothing compared to the filet at Yachtsman. He said the same--I knew I had too high of expectations :( The potatoes were odd, they were in a stack, but I nibbled at them, and I ate some more bread. I think he cleaned his plate. We waited a while for our server to come back for dessert. She was a little busy or something?

I had the chocolate mousse dome and he had the gelato sampler with a candle :)

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1239.jpg

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1242.jpg

My dessert was meh. I wanted a signature chocolate explosion in my mouth, lol.... and it was pretty much the same mediocre mousse sold around WDW. I regretted my decision against gelato--you can never go wrong with gelato.

We waited longer than we should have for the check, and for her to bring it back, drinks were empty and I just kind of wanted out of there. There was no magic, no one was nice to us, dinner was mearly substance and I was in a beautiful restaurant that I wanted to experience so much out of! I go to my share of "stuffy" restaurants at home and when I travel and never have I felt like I was so out of place. We were dressed well, (way better than some in there) we tipped well, we're not needy or out of control--and it was our birthdays!! This is making us not want to try Citricos if it is supposedly more "fancy/stuffy" than Narcoossee's. It almost left a bad taste in my mouth for the entire Grand Floridian. I was disappointed, but it may have been an off night. It happens. Let's just make one thing clear, lol--- it was better than LeCellier :rotfl2:

Next Up: Tusker House Breakfast (with $31.95+tax for a picture I thought I liked then didn't so I cut myself out and now it's just of Dave and Donald, lol)

That's too bad :-( I've always wanted to try Narcossee's. It just shows you how different a waitress can make a restaurant and the different impressions people can get of the same place. We didn't like Yatchsman at all!

Well thanks for your honest review about Narcooses. We were there May 21st to celebrate our anniv. I was really looking forward to it. We had almost the same EXACT experience as yours.

We were greeted with a comment, like oh are you staying at the Grand? Hmm, why does it matter, we said no Polynesian. Our table was the upper deck next to the bar. Bad view for wishes. Our female server practically disappeared like yours and our glasses were not refilled all that quickly etc.

I know what you mean about the potatos too. My dh got them and he got sick later from them.

Our anniv. was really not acknowledged except for a obligatory spoken word twice.

All I can say was I am glad we had the $750 gift card to pay for it or I would have been upset abot what a waste of money it was.

Sorry you had a bad experience too.

Love reading your report.

Since our dinner was late on Wednesday night, it was too late to do anything afterwards. We turned in early and were refreshed when we got up early for our Tusker House breakfast :) Today was Dave's 30th birthday!! We hopped the bus to Animal Kingdom, went thru the Tusker House Safari Breakfast entrance line, and were guided toward the Tusker House. It was nice to walk thru with everything so empty. It felt like we had the park to ourselves!! When we arrived they told us both happy birthday and acknowledged it was his "actual" birthday. The hostess noticed he wasn't wearing a button, and we advised we didn't get them. She made him a "Feliz Cumpleanos" button which we thought was cute :) I once again failed on character breakfast planning. We were headed to Blizzard Beach after this and I didn't have my makeup face on--and my hair... well thats another story, lol. I was not what anyone would consider photo-ready. So we got our picture with Donald before going in to be seated. We were seated and our waiter got me a coffee and him an iced tea. He also poured us 2 glasses of Jambo Juice. Dave liked this, I forget what all was in it, but I was allergic to something in it so he drank mine, plus more. Everyone made sure to tell us happy birthday :) What I liked about the tables here is that they weren't terribly cramped like some. All the waitstaff was super friendly. The character interaction was simply amazing here. They were all great with everyone, and seemed to have a lot of fun in the little parades.

We ventured up to the buffet. Lots of different options to try!! Of course I was interested in one thing: MINI MICKEY WAFFLES!! :woohoo: I swear I live for these:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1244.jpg

This was his plate:
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_1245.jpg
he loves biscuits and gravy!

Our waiter continued to check on us, made sure drinks were filled and made sure we were taken care of. We got photos with the characters... well I got pics of him and the characters and I deleted all the ones of me, lol. I paid 31.95+tax for the pictures of Donald and us because Donald and David looked pretty good, and I could be cut out, lol. It was his birthday and he loves Donald, so I sucked it up and bought it, lol. I had them delievered to us at the Yacht Club so we didnt have to take them with us.

At the end of the meal, our waiter brought us both out cupcakes with candles in them for our birthdays and he got a birthday card signed by the characters :) He really thought it was neat :)

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_2003.jpg

I think this was the best character interaction I've been at so far. I've been to Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, Akershus, Cape May... and this was just fun!! I liked being in the park already too, so for opening you can be right in the middle!! Because I'm picky and traditional... if I were to make the "ultimate" breakfast... I'd implant Cape May's food into the Tusker House! A girl can dream can't she? I like the strawberry topping for the waffles and I crave it all the time. We will be back here for sure!!

After Blizzard Beach, we went back to the Yacht Club to change then we hopped the bus to Animal Kingdom for our lunch reservation. We arrived at Yak n Yeti and we got a buzzer as there was a small wait. I know this is random... but the hand dryers in the restrooms were made by Dyson and they were super intense. I was impressed, lol--so was Dave, he took a pic.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/100_0014.jpg

We were seated in about 10 minutes. Our waiter came, asked if we were on the Dining Plan and kept explaining over and over that Yak n Yeti was not Disney owned. I knew this, but I didn't know why it was being said over and over. The other restaurants that are not Disney owned just take the card and explain how it is a little difference, but they don't make this big of a deal. Just weird. I had a coke, he had an iced tea. We put our appetizer order in.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/100_0015.jpg

The appetizer took a really long time. Other tables around us were already getting their entrees when we were waiting for our appies. We were confused, but oh well.

He had wings and I had pork egg rolls. Dave said the wings were good and crispy. I thought the egg rolls were good too. Not as amazing as Nine Dragons, but they were good! We were barely a few bites in and our entrees came. We gave up our appetizers although we weren't done.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/100_0016.jpg

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/100_0017.jpg

Steak and Shrimp for me and Ribs for him. We switched rices. I got his Chicken Fried rice and he got my Jasmine rice... just like we asked :) My shrimp was great :) the steak was good too. At this point in the week, I had lots of steak and it was like... just another steak. I was all about the rice and shrimp. Very yum. Dave really liked the hoisin ribs. He liked the food a lot.

Dessert was next. I went with the sorbet sampler and he went with the fried wontons. We both were very happy :)

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/100_0018.jpg

When it was time to pay the bill, the waiter re-did the speech on being a non-Disney restaurant. LOL OKAY!! We get it. I'm not sure why he was so intense on this matter, but it was getting to be a turn off! We paid with not nearly as much drama as he made it out to be, and left. It was a shame for such a good meal to be associated with such dramatic service. Even if you're not a Disney owned restaurant, you are in a Disney park, so semi-badmouthing Disney is not exactly smart. The other ones on the Dining Plan don't freak out like that. Geesh. Anyway, I would eventually eat here again... at least to be able to dry my hands with the Dyson :)

Joining in and loving your reviews. I'm so glad you loved Captain Grills and Yatchman's b/c we will be trying those 2 as a new restaurant for us. We love Tusker House breakfast (love the food and character interaction). What time was your breakfast at Tusker House b/c we have it at 8:05 and wanted to know what time we should take the bus.
During the time you went how was the bus at YC. Did the bus stop at other resort...if so was YC first?

Our Tusker House breakfast was at 8:30, we got on the bus around 8ish. The YC bus was ehh, okay. The bus is shared with Swan/Dolphin/YC/BC/BWI. On the way to AK, we stopped at BC and BWI, on the way back, we stopped at Swan and Dolphin first. There were plenty of busses coming all the time. I just wish they didn't share between 5 resorts.

We were told that non-disney restaurants can only claim up to $25 per guest on DDP; therefore, the servers are only getting their tips off the $25. We have eaten at Yak and Yeti 3 times. Only once we tipped our exceptionally "nice" server according to our actual food bill. The other servers weren't so lucky ....:rolleyes1

Ohhh I've been busy, sorry for the major lapse!

It's Dave's 30th Birthday Dinner!! He was kinda sad-faced when I told him Remy's last appearance for the day is at 5:30.... so I figured I'd buy a Remy and bring it with us :) He makes a great addition to our kitchen!! We checked in right on time and were seated within 15 minutes. They were really, really busy. I wasn't even hungry when we went. I was stuffed from everything we ate all day, my throat was still agitating me pretty bad and I would have been better off sleeping my mood off in the room with a dose of benedryl.... but the meal credits must be used, lol!! Plus it was his birthday dinner and I had to suck it up!!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_2009.jpg

We got our drinks and bread. Yum, bread. It was really good!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_2010.jpg

Our waiter was very friendly, he was just rather busy. I ordered the bacon flatbread with no onion for my appetizer and it was huge!! Wow!! I ate the edges since I like crust the best, but it was pretty giant and I wanted to save room for my food.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_2011.jpg

He has been waiting to try the french onion soup for a while now, and he finally got the chance. He loved it. Definately lived up to his expectations!!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_2012.jpg

Our meals took pretty much forever to come out. The table next to us were giving our waiter problems, plus he had too many tables to deal with anyway. I felt kinda bad for him. One thing I noticed here is that it was like a young adult french frat party of employees there. As busy as they were, they found time to group around to discuss going to the pool to party after work, and plans for the weekend. It was obviously so loud that we could hear over by the window. Eh, they're having a good time, so whatever.... wheres my dinner, lol???

We ordered the same steak meal, but mine without the black pepper sauce.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_2013.jpg

He dug in and really liked his meal. I'm not big on the fresh green beans, the weird cheese they use on the potatoes was just not for me, and the steak was just.... meh.... not Yachtsman. I may have liked this if I felt better, and if I hadn't had the best steak of my life 2 days prior. I was frustrated with the table continuing to give our waiter trouble because we were going without refills and attention. I ate what I could, but I'm not counting this place out because I seriously think I just didn't feel good--but it's also not going in our rotation any time soon.

For dessert, he had a candle in his creme brulee and they sang to him in french. He likes creme brulee and ate this with no complaints. I went with the chocolate cake which I nipped at and enjoyed.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_2016.jpg

I think Dave really liked it here. We had fun putting Remy on our table and all and all I think his birthday was good. The reason this isn't making our rotation is because the only menu item that appeals to us is the steak, and we've just had better steaks in the "world." I'd like to keep this spot open for a difference experience. I'm just picky and some of the tastes weren't for me. Glad I tried it though!!

Next up: Our Last Full Day ---> Raglan Road and Jiko!!

Great updates! I hadn't read a few of the ones from right before we went on our trip, so it was good to catch up. I'm so sorry about your bad service at Narcoossee's. We ended up eating there twice on our trip, one meal was the best server in all the world, and the other was the worst server of our entire trip soooo you can see that they have gained a spotty reputation for service. BOO!! We thought the food was really good though.

Happy 30th Birthday to your DH!! That Tusker House breakfast looked awesommmme! Also I thought it was super cute that you bought a little Remy and put him on your table! I didn't realize that Remy only comes out Mon-Saturday, so we didn't get to see him (lunch, Sunday). DH was kinda bummed! What a cute touch to add him to your table, loved that!

Can't wait to read about your last day! We ended up switching our Jiko ressie, and I'm still sad about it, so I can't wait to live vicariously through you! :goodvibes:goodvibes

There isn't -- they just do the receipt and tip a little different.

Actually there is a lot a things that is different about the dining plan at the Yeti versus other restaurants.

They are not " putting Disney down" or " bad mouthing " them as you posted previously.

There are quite a few differences in the way it works from the start to the finish of the experience. This is why they let you know up front that this is not a Disney run restaurant and things may work slightly different than you are used to.

i can appreciate that it is different, and thats okay. our particular waiter's delivery of the information to us was very negative and he acted like the dining plan was a huge bother to him. at big river grille, they were great in explaining, etc. it was our particular waiter who had the attitude problem toward the situation. it did indeed seem as if he was putting disney down. the service we recieved was definately lacking throughout the entire meal. however the food was pretty good.

Great reviews. We had the same experience at Narcoossees in Dec 08, it was "date night" for DH and I and it was less then memorable despite getting the window seat. Our server was just there, nothing special. We were thinking of giving it another chance on our Sept trip but DH wanted to do Calf Grill twice instead since our experience there was so wonderful. Glad to hear good review of Yachtsman's, we are staying at BC and really wanted to try it, it is DS12's choice, he  a good steak.

I have read a quite a few reviews where people thought the service wasnt up to par there but the food was very well done. The problem with the particular service complaints that I have read have to do with a management and policy issue and not an individual server related issue.

We got up and had breakfast from the lounge, and went to Typhoon Lagoon for about an hour, came back, got changed and hopped the bus to Downtown Disney for our lunch reservation. We were seated quickly, it was pretty empty.

Our waiter brought me us iced teas and he got a beer too. Here is the yummy bread they brought. The oil has a sugar reduction in it and when you dip the soda bread in.... oh my. I am NOT an oil person, and this was great.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_2017.jpg

For appies, I got the Scallop Forest, and he got the wings. The scallops were huge and delish! I could have had this for my meal it was so filling. He liked his wings a lot. The lady next to us got the ribs, and he things his wings looked better.

For the entree... I had to be child, lol. I asked if I could have the kid's chicken fingers. I had had so many complex meals, all I wanted was my "standby." Much to my surprise, they actually had an adult Chicken and Chips that wasn't on the menu. Sweet!! Dave went with the Meatball Sub and Fries. Both were great! Fries were amazing! Very Very Big Portions!!!

We were so full, but decided to try dessert anyway! He got the dunbrody kiss dessert and I got the apple/strawberry crumble dessert. We nipped at them and decided to head over to DisneyQuest. This was a great meal.... we will be back for sure!!

The unfortunate detail :( We had never been to DisneyQuest before. We got there and did the Mighty Ducks pinball, which I liked, but I was like... ugh I just ate. So we decided to knock all the big attractions out first. After pinball we went to Ride the Comix. They clearly said if you get sick, take the helmet off and exit. Well I knew immediately this was not for me!! I tried to get thru it because I was going to be sick. I didn't want to interrupt anything and have to stand there by myself. I finally get thru it... take off the helmet, and he's already at the exit because he got off early. I was soooooooo sick. I tried to brave it out and it came back to bite me. Let's just say.... so much for that fried lunch I just had. I've never had motion sickness before so this feeling was new... and it lasted over 4 hours. I wasn't sure I had ever been so miserable before. So he got me a sprite and I played Frogger and pinball... we couldn't really do anything else so we decided to spend the rest of our money since we were leaving the next day. We did a good job of that :) After we drained our Disney Debit Card, lol... we caught the bus back to the room to get ready for Jiko. Our last dinner before we leave! Coming up next!!!

After a re-group back at the room, I got my motion sickness under control and I was ready to try another meal. I was super excited for tonights meal. We figured the quickest way from the Yacht Club to AKL was to take the boat to Hollywood Studios and then the bus to the resort. It was long, but we expected that. We had never been there and we got a little lost trying to find it... but we got there, ended up being about 5 minutes late :( We got there, they gave us a buzzer and we took a walk around by the pool to check things out. We were seated in about 10 minutes. They reminded us it would be 2 credits, but delivered the message much nicer than Narcoossee's.

Eduarto was our server. We got iced teas and Dave tried an African beer called Tusker (which he really liked). For appies, we ordered BBQ Chicken Flatbread and the Taste of Africa. Both have come highly recommended so we had to try!!

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_2029.jpg

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_2030.jpg

The BBQ Chicken Flatbread was great!! It was pretty big.. the pic is after some was eaten. I'm a bread lover, but unfortunately, I didn't have a taste for any of these 3. I've heard lots of raves so I'm sure they're good--just not for me--but points that I tried!! I thought that there was a standard Jiko bread with delicious butter... but we didn't get that. We didn't see our waiter again till after our entrees were served (by someone else) and we were already well into eating so we didn't get to ask. (And you guessed it-by this time our drinks were empty) I was kinda mad. He had a big table behind us, and talked to another table of 2 about wine for a while, and never checked on us. Another table next to us saw the table of 2 with the wine got bread and they didn't so they caught him to ask. So we weren't the only ones left out. I really wanted to try it. Anywho... here's our steak:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_2031.jpg

We both got the filet with mac & cheese. I got it sans red wine sauce. He insisted he bring it on the side for me to try... and Dave ended up dipping his in it. I don't like red wine... so I didn't like red wine sauce, lol. So the mac & cheese was super good. I ate most of it first. The steak was good, it was steak... but our cuts were very veiny, chewy and piecy. Probably the worst filet cut of the week. Even Le Cellier's cut was better, it was just over cooked. It should have been better. Our waiter checked on us once while we were eating. We were done eating for 20 minutes with plates pushed aside, drinks empty before he came around to ask what we wanted for dessert. We orderd them, I timed it... 32 minutes to prepare the dessert.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_2032.jpg

I had the Jiko Trio... I ate all of them but the caramel ice cream--too weird for me. He had the lemon-white chocolate mousse. They were both just desserts. No woo-hoos, just sweet and wanting to get out of there.

Then I felt like I was in a "but wait! there's more commercial." popcorn::

They brought him another dessert (creme brulee) with a candle for his birthday, a card signed by the staff, and a few zebra domes to go.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_2034.jpg

Not that it wasn't nice--it was so nice, and the card was neat! We just wanted to go, lol. We had pretty much planned 3 more vacations and named all of our un-born children during our time here. Yes it was quality time... but I could have standed some more quality time on test track and soarin princess:

Here was our major observation. The restaurant wasn't overly busy. Dave had one beer and that was it. I don't drink alcohol. Eduarto's attention was on all the tables that were drinking. Also the big table behind us that consisted of all women carrying designer purses. (I spotted at least 2 Louis V's at the table) I felt like we were just another table using DxDDP credits and they were doing less than the bare minimum since our bill wasn't racking up with alcohol. The sad thing is... I was watching other tables have great experiences. I think that it has potential to be amazing. We just wish that was us... I wanted to love love love this place. We are willing to give some of our "meh" experiences another shot--but AKL is just too far our to waste a trip on this again. Maybe if we stayed there--but we didn't love it all that much. Just too far away from everything. So anyway...

We did the whole check thing and bailed.

We were hoping since it was a 7:15 reservation that we would be well on our way out of there by 8:45. We left at 9:50, the bus came at 10:25 for Epcot's extra magic hours. We stopped thru Mexico (he wanted me to get a mini-sombrero for our yorkie... i declined, lol), I wanted a Kaki Gori, but it was closed. So we went over to Boulangerie Patisserie and I got a hot tea... he got a chocolate eclair. We decided to call it a night--the last night. We walked back to the Yacht Club and packed our bags. Very sad. There was a lot of stuffing, rolling and re-arranging. I shopped. I shopped lots.

Well it'll be our last day... Next Up: Sci Fi

Off Topic:
When we got home, Baxter was upset I didn't get him a sombrero. He gave me money for next time...

Wow, I can't believe how long you were at Jiko! We've yet to try it for the same reason you cited, it's too far unless you're staying there. We'll give it a shot sometime when we stay at AKV and hopefully get good service. There's no excuse for the poor service you got.

Love the picture of your dog -- so cute!!!

The one thing that really bugs me is slow service, so I feel for you with the length of time you spent at Jiko....

I am looking forward to your Sci Fi review! I hope it's a good one.....

Thank you for taking the time to post your reviews and pictures!

I love your reviews! I totally understand where you are coming from with Yak and Yeti, the server that I had really rubbed me the wrong way but the food was good enough that we are returning on my next trip. I'm just gonna go in expecting annoying service and hopefully we will be pleasantly surprised.
Sorry that Jiko was disappointing. I have been victim to the "you aren't getting wine so you aren't worthy" service in the past at other restaurants and it's really upsetting. My husband and I almost always get alcohol with our meals when we are alone but with the kids we sometimes skip the drinks. Now that I think about it, the Disney restaurants where I got the service where the ones where I ordered wine.
I love the photo of your Yorkie!

I adore your Yorkie! So cute!

Sorry Jiko was so slow for you! We have an ADR there for our December trip and I'm hoping it won't be too bad because I want to get out and see the parks. There is nothing I detest more than unreasonably slow service. I'm really impatient to begin with though. I don't mind a nicely paced dinner and I really don't want courses coming out on top of each other, but waiting half an hour for dessert? No way!

I really want to try Jiko as the food looks great but it sounds like your service was really poor :sad2:

Just because you weren't ordering wine shouldn't mean that you should get less attention that others :confused3

Well, I'm a bit late to join in, but I've just read all your reviews so I'm up-to-date. :thumbsup2

I'm really sorry that you had less than stellar experiences at Le Cellier, Narcoosee's and Jiko. We've never tried either (I'm a picky eater, too) and I'm really not in a hurry to try them anytime soon.

However, I am convinced that we need to try Yachtsman's Steakhouse now just based on your review alone! :goodvibes

I :rotfl2: at your comments about the Dyson driers - they are quite common at the malls near us.

It's our last day!! We nibbled at club level offerings for breakfast, had bell services get our stuff checked, etc and we took the boat over to Hollywood Studios. We rode a few rides, checked out a few shops and by that time we were ready to make our way to Sci Fi. We were there a bit before opening. We requested a round picnic table in the back. If we had kids or something the cars would be fun, but they are just to close for my liking--I'd rather be comfy when I eat. We waited till about 5 minutes after opening and our names were called. We were seated in a car... and the restaurant was about empty. I asked to be moved and we were. No big deal, I know requests are requests, but there were barely 6 parties in the restaurant so it wasn't like it wasn't available.

We ordered cherry cokes, he got a chocolate milkshake and I got an oreo milkshake. He didn't charge us extra at all! I was shocked!! I had tons of cherry cokes. They were yumm!! I didn't do too well on my milkshake, it was very thick and it was too hot out for me to want the dairy. However Dave made his disappear, lol.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_2044.jpg

For appies, we both got onion rings and they were super yum! Very crispy, but next time I want to dry the dip I think.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_2046.jpg

Entrees are next:
I got the turkey sandwich with no lettuce, no mayo and fries. He got a burger and fries. Both were great, basic lunches. Very nice compared to the fancy and different dishes we had all week.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_2048.jpg

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_2047.jpg

The movie slides were fun. We remembered some of them from when we were little. Such a cute place, and we enjoyed sitting in the back watching everything. Next up... dessert!!

He got a hot fudge sundae and pretty much licked the glass clean :)

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_2049.jpg

I ordered the peanut butter chocolate cake that I have been wanting since I saw the menu online. I was hoping it was like the one I had at the Crystal Palace buffet. Here is the description on the menu:

Peanut Butter-Chocolate Cake - Warm chocolate cake with a creamy peanut butter center served a la mode $7.99

So I get my plate:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e8/dirtracinchica/IMG_2050.jpg

The walnuts were originally decorated around the cake, but I freaked out and mid-panic attack I remembered to take a pic. I calmed down, pushed them all to one side and decided to just forget they were there and to eat the delicious cake. I took a bite, expecting soft, warm cake... and there was something hard, ooooooooh nooooooo!!! There were crushed walnuts all through the cake.

If you didn't read my beginning, I'm highly allergic to tree nuts. No where in that description did it mention a nut, or the fact that this dessert was 1/2 nuts. You would assume if the plate AND cake was full of nuts, you may want to mention it in the menu. Our waiter came by with the check and I advised I was allergic to nuts, as I pushed the dish away. He didn't offer to replace it, but I didn't care at that point because I was freaking out... and rather full from my meal. We also had some snack credits left. I just wanted out of there.

We stopped by a few shops on the way out, got some cotton candy, rock candy and rice crispy treats for the way home. We got back to the Yacht Club in time to get our bags, get on the Magical Express and make it to the airport.

By the time we were on the plane, I had itchy hives everywhere. Great. That was from one bite. If I had more, my throat would have been a complete mess.

All in all... Sci Fi was good. I'd go back in time... there's just a bunch of others I would try and repeat first. I just wish I would have known about the nuts--but now I know... and I told you... so now YOU know, lol. If you want a sit down burger, fries and shake... this is the place for you!!

Well this was our last meal :(

So sorry about the walnuts!! Really, with so many people having nut allergies, it's something that should be in the menu description.

Great reviews! Thanks for sharing!

Disneyfail on the way they handled the dessert. They should have been jumping through hoops to apologize when they found out about your allergies.

I had the chocolate peanut butter cake last trip. I'd heard good things about it but I was slightly disappointed. I was expecting something more like a lava cake. You know, chocolate cake oozing peanut butter. It was dark in there and I couldn't make out what I was eating. But there was no warm peanut butter. As you described, the dessert was oddly crunchy. Must have been the nuts. Good thing I'm not allergic.

I'm at work, so I can't get my pix on here for club level... but I'll move forward with the rankings/final reviews. These are collaborations from the two of us:

Breakfast:
If I could take the Cape May Food, and implant it into the Tusker House setting and festivities... we would have the PERFECT breakfast. I'm not as adventurous as all of the Tusker House food was, but I did love it. Dave's favorite was the Kona Steak for breakfast, and I admit Kona coffee is a weakness of mine.

We'll call breakfast a 3 way tie. We are repeating Kona for Breakfast in November.

Lunch:

We had: Liberty Tree Tavern, Big River Grille, Mama Melrose, Nine Dragons, Sci Fi, Yak n Yeti, Raglan Road, 50s Prime Time

Winning Appies were:

Liberty Tree Tavern - Tavern Fried Cheese (Winner)
Big River Grille - Beef/Chicken Nachos
Nine Dragons - Egg Rolls
Raglan Road - Scallop Forest - Wings

Winning Entrees:

Big River Grille- Steak and Shrimp Combo
Mama Melrose - Chicken Parm (Winner)
Yak n Yeti - BBQ Ribs
Nine Dragons - Fried Rice

Winning Desserts:

Liberty Tree Tavern - Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake (Winner)
Mama Melrose - Tiramisu Sundae
Mama Melrose - Chocolate Gelato (Sorry I'm plain)
Big River Grille - Chocolate Cake

Overall... We loved Liberty Tree, Big River, Mama Melrose and Nine Dragons. They are going in our rotation... YAY! We will also return to Yak n Yeti and Raglan at some point :) In November, we are returning to Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch... but allowing the other slots for new experiences :)

Dinner

We had: LeCellier, Akershus, Narcoossee's, Yachtsman, Captain's Grille, Chefs de France, and Jiko.

Winning Appies:
Le Cellier - Cheddar Cheese Soup (David's Best Soup Ever Winner, lol)
Yachtsman - Chicken Noodle Soup
Captain's Grille - Crab Cake (Deena's Best Crab Cake Ever Winner, lol)
Chefs de France - Onion Soup

Winning Entrees:
Yachtsman - Filet
Yachtsman - Porterhouse
Captain's Grille - Pork Chop
Captain's Grille - Crab Legs
------We can't pick a winner here. They were 2 of the best meals we've ever had.

Winning Desserts:
Yachtsman - Yachtsman Sundae (Winner)
Le Cellier - Whiskey Cake

It's inevitable that Yachtsman and Captain's Grille are our FAVES!! We will be making an appearance at both in November. Although we had a rough experience at LeCellier, we are hoping to give it a second chance for lunch sometime. We probably wont make it back to Akershus unless we have a little girl. We have no desire to go back to Jiko or Narcoossee's. We will also go back to Chefs de France sometime. Maybe for lunch to see Remy :)

I did the figures at one point to see what we saved and it was over $700. That is crazy for 2 people!! Of course there was a lot of trying things we wouldn't have ordered otherwise, and plates left empty--but it's all about the experience. We had fun and thats all that matters! We found a few hidden gems that we took a chance on (Captain's Grille, Big River Grille, Nine Dragons), and we found that some didn't live up to the hype for us (Narcoossee's / Jiko). The DxDDP is way to go for us, and despite people saying Club Level is too much with it... we loved it. I like walking a few feet in the morning before I'm ready to get some tea, or grabbing a quick Sprite before my afternoon nap.... and I also enjoyed the fact I wasn't getting dinged $6 a beer everytime he wanted one, lol.

Well that's about it!! There's our trip. I plan on adding the CL pix soon, and starting our Pre-Trip for November. Of course there will be pix involved. It will be madness... 6 nights, 7 days, DxDDP, Club Level, Food & Wine Festival, Festival of the Masters, MVMCP. I can't wait. Thanks for joining in!!
