Well, just back from a wonderful 12 day/12 night (we arrived just before midnight the first night) trip to the World during the crazy Spring Break/Easter period of time (3/22 through 4/3). This trip was a last hurrah (for the time being at least) for my DW and I, as we're expecting our first baby in a few months. Luckily the amount of time we were there afforded us the opportunity to take it slower, make extensive use of fastpasses, and not get as caught up in the craziness!

Both of us are not very picky eaters. We love the whole food spectrum from a good steak (although the DW had to get hers well done :( ), seafood, sushi, flatbread, ribs, whatever... you name it. One of our favorites is dinner at Boma, as the variety and unique spices are very appealing to us. As for service, the main way I gauge a server is at what point or how long it takes for drink refills to arrive (especially coffee in the morning :) ).

In order to keep track of details of our dining experiences, I created cool little books to write details and ratings in. As ratings can easily vary from person to person, my DW and I had separate books, which means double the ratings ;)

The Rating System:
We decided to use the Zagat categories of Food, Decor, Service, and Cost. The first three categories are given a rating from 0 to 5 Mickeys, and Cost is everything covered under the DlxDDP (not including extras, such as alcohol, tip, etc).
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S7z7uAj3RMI/AAAAAAAAADE/PbmmnJX_WcM/s800/mickey_empty_s.pnghttp://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S7z7uGlZ4WI/AAAAAAAAAC8/cChAAIMvIjA/s800/mickey_half_s.pnghttp://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S7z7uMTEVbI/AAAAAAAAADA/2S6qT5c9dnE/s800/mickey_full_s.png

The Value (at a glance):
For those that want the quick and dirty of whether the DlxDDP was worth it and/or how much was saved, here's an overview:
Deluxe Dining Plan cost: $1727.96
Refillable mugs: $27.54
Snacks total: 48 x $3 = $144 (didn't track all snacks, but this is a lowball figure as most used were between $3.50 - $4.25)
Meals total: $2494.45
Total Deluxe Dining Plan value: $2665.99
Total Savings: $938.03 (35.2% savings)

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S742ookqYbI/AAAAAAAAADg/WrUTwqfo1SM/mickey.gif Day 1: Breakfast at Crystal Palace

Welcome to the first installment of our dining reviews!! Sit back.. relax.. and get ready for some Disney magic.. food porn style!!

We traditionally start our trip off at the Magic Kingdom, and this trip was no different. Since we arrived late the night before, we had a good nights sleep under our belt and were ready to go. The plan was watch the rope drop (first time ever!), then have my DW check us in to Crystal Palace while I grabbed the first set of fast passes. With fast passes in hand, we were off to grab some breakfast!

I suppose I forgot to mention that were were celebrating our anniversary this trip. When were were sat at our table, we were presented with this cool heart made out of Mickey confetti!
http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2TgC5nsI/AAAAAAAAAk4/Vxm2vhS80HY/_MG_3436.jpg

There are many things that I like about CP, how they give you a carafe of coffee in the morning (ensure you always have your "go" juice :) ), made-to order omelets, Pooh ears, and the restaurant's bright atmosphere. This morning my DW and I decided to get in line to grab a made-to-order omelet. For the size of this restaurant, I was surprised they had only one chef, which only made two items at a time! Needless to say, it took quite a long time to get our order in and prepared :( The end product was delicous though! I had the Ultimate omelet
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2VqELkFI/AAAAAAAAAlQ/kFOpxEocsog/_MG_3438.jpg

and my DW had the Veggie omelet
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2UC2iVeI/AAAAAAAAAlA/p8HFJoIqaD4/IMG_3497.jpg

As we were about to get up to get some more food, one of the characters showed up.. Piglet! Well, if you noticed on my DW's plate, she had some scraps of bacon left for the server to come pick up. Piglet almost had a coronary right there!!! He was openly weeping and holding his head; I thought the poor little guy was going to faint! Sufficed to say, the character interaction was great, as it's a big part of coming to this restaurant.

Back to the food.. they have a yummy selection of cold items, fruits, salmon pastrami, that were all very fresh and delicous
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2XdDdckI/AAAAAAAAAlg/qyJLVsW27Po/_MG_3446.jpg

As good as all this food was, we all know the star of this buffet are the Pooh ears! They are like heaven in your mouth!
http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2W79E2gI/AAAAAAAAAlc/ISRBiCh3GW8/_MG_3445.jpg

All in all, this is definately a must-do restaurant in order to kick a Disney vacation into full gear!!

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S9NrM8OOOJI/AAAAAAAABHM/F3STz6xE5Tc/minnie.gif Day 1: Lunch at The Plaza

Mr.Bean's DW here, thought I'd jump in and help him out with some of the reviews since we dined at so many different places. I think you'll find I have a little more to say...I'll try to edit myself better for my next review. :rotfl2:

After our filling breakfast at CP our 1:25 ADR for the Plaza seemed to come too quickly! DH’s sister is currently in the college program working at Epcot so she was able to come and hang out with us for the day at MK, which worked out great because it allowed DH to ride all the rides that baby was keeping me from riding. :) Because our initial ADR was just for the two of us, we thought we would check and see if we could change it to three people. We checked in at 1:15 and were told that since we were adding another person we would need to wait longer. We didn’t mind since we weren’t starving and took the time to enjoy the sights and sounds of Main Street while we waited for our buzzer to go off. We had never eaten at the Plaza before and quite honestly I don’t think I ever paid much attention to what the outside of the restaurant was supposed to look like, but now that they’re under construction it was really like we were eating lunch in a big wooden box. We were seated at a table for four and as I looked around the restaurant I couldn’t help but notice that there were other tables empty and there were very few “two person only tables” so I am not sure why we needed to wait the extra time when we would have most likely been sat at a table for four anyway?

Our server stopped by to say “hi” and let us know that she would be back to take our order. She didn’t ask us what we wanted to drink and while we weren’t super hungry we were thirsty. For months before our trip I had been going over the menus and this was one of the few restaurants where nothing jumped out at me as “ooh I want to try that.” This may have more to do with my being pregnant than anything else because there were items on the menu that I would have loved to try but wouldn’t be able to for one reason or another (deli meat, soft cheese, etc.) As part of the DlxDDP we were entitled to one appetizer, entrée and dessert with a non-alcoholic beverage. There are no appetizers on the Plaza’s menu only a mention at the top that you can add soup or a side salad to your entrée for a price and this is your only selection for appetizers. Since DH’s sister was not on the dining plan we made sure our server knew this and she asked about using her cast member discount and was told that she could do so on her part of the check, so with all the business taken care of we dived into ordering.

DH ordered a side salad for his appetizer and I ordered the soup of the day which was a tomato soup. I wasn’t expecting much from the soup and was pleasantly surprised, it was delicious. I love my tomato soup to have a little “substance” to it and this soup had a creamy base with chunks of tomato mixed in. (Side note, the server was careful to point out that this soup is not vegetarian.) Everyone at the table tried at least one bite of the soup and it was unanimous that we all liked it. DH’s salad was pretty good too, just your run of the mill garden salad, though he thought the dressing was delicious.

For my entrée, I ordered the vegetarian sandwich (fresh mozzarella, hummus, basil pesto, cucumber, roasted red pepper, tomato, and lettuce on a freshly baked foccaccia) with a side of french fries.

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2Yb7RQBI/AAAAAAAAAlo/UkVbAueFZqo/IMG_3539.jpg

DH ordered the Plaza Club (smoked ham, turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise layered on toasted multi-grain bread) with broccoli slaw.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2Y04hVaI/AAAAAAAAAls/aFO-xoNXC84/_MG_3498.jpg

While I’m not sure that we took any pictures of it, DSIL ordered the Grilled Reuben (thinly sliced corned beef on grilled marble rye with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island dressing) with ff and she said it was delicious!

My first impression when my sandwich was placed in front of me was that it was huge and I wasn’t sure how I was going to go about eating it all. It really was too big for my mouth, and the slice of mozzarella cheese was a very thick cut which overpowered the flavor of some of the other ingredients and made the sandwich difficult to eat. I think I ended up taking the cheese out to eat the rest and it was great. DH kept reaching over to steal some of the cheese off my plate. The french fries were another pleasant surprise, very hot and delicious. They were a thick cut and crispy on the outside just the way I like them. Because I wasn’t that hungry I didn’t finish the entire sandwich and felt a little bad about that (my first wasted food of the trip) but I knew that something amazing was just around the corner and I had to save room.

As I mentioned before, I had read and reread the menu at The Plaza before our trip and while I had not decided until I sat down what I would have for lunch I knew as soon as we booked this ADR what I would have as my dessert, the banana split. DH can tell you, I have the biggest sweet tooth, I actually think I have a mouth full of sweet teeth and knowing that dessert was included in every meal was enough to send me into sugar heaven. I had been looking forward to this banana split all day...and it did not disappoint. :thumbsup2

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2Zwg07rI/AAAAAAAAAl0/S_DjV3OY1ck/IMG_3540.jpg

DH ordered the hot fudge brownie sundae and we decided that we would share the two desserts amongst the three of us, and believe me there was plenty!

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2aKcy_FI/AAAAAAAAAl4/ZzeIz4Q5i8c/IMG_3541.jpg

Our only “complaint” about the brownie sundae was that one of the brownies was rock hard, so hard that DH had a hard time even breaking it down into pieces. I always think that a brownie in a brownie sundae should be warm and soft, this was not. But we still enjoyed our desserts.

Overall impressions of The Plaza: our server was very nice but distracted; she would disappear for long stretches of time when we were left with no drink refills or a pile of dishes on the table. When we went to pay the bill (there were two separate checks) we were left for a long time just sitting there until another server came by and picked up DSIL’s check and said she would run that for us, she didn’t know or look to see that we had two folders on the table and she was gone before we could stop her. So we waited longer for our server to come back and run our KTTW card for the dining plan. She apologized for being absent which would have been enough of an explanation, but then she went on to tell us that one of their managers was in the hospital having surgery and she had been trying to pull up a picture of him on her phone to show one of her coworkers. We weren’t sure how to respond to this and honestly, it took a little big of the Disney magic away from the moment. DSIL even commented that she had been told during her training to never over share with guests. :rolleyes1

The decor in The Plaza seems a little dated, a lot of gold appliqué and fixtures. The average age of the staff when we were there was around forty which isn’t bad but added to the feeling of the place being older. I am curious if they will do any renovations to the inside as they are working on the outside. Would we return to The Plaza? There are fewer TS options in the MK and now that we’ve tried them all, we’d probably return to The Plaza if we were paying OOP or just wanted a place to sit and catch our breath while we enjoyed some yummy desserts. It wasn’t the best value for the DlxDDP due to the limited appetizer selection. We left The Plaza very content with full stomachs and checking our watches to see how much time we had to enjoy the MK before our next ADR for CRT that night… the countdown was on and we still had four snacks to use as well…do you think we’ll use any snack points on our first day? Only time will tell….

Great reviews so far, can't wait for more. We love CP too and prefer breakfast to dinner. Always try and get there for our first breakfast of the trip and have already made an 8.05am booking for our next trip.

Went to the plaza for the first time last October and while the food was average the service was absolutely appalling and would prevent us from ever going again. We blamed it on being a halloween party night but maybe not.

Hurry back and tell us more.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S742ookqYbI/AAAAAAAAADg/WrUTwqfo1SM/mickey.gif Day 1: Dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table

Lords and Ladies, welcome to Cinderella's Royal Table!!

This was the first time my DW and I have been to CRT, mostly because we have always used a dining plan, and it's dining credit value isn't the best as it's a 2 credit meal worth right around $50. I have to say though, that this was definitely a fun experience, and a must do at least once. Once checked in, we were given a ticket and told to wait to be called in order to get our picture taken with Cinderella. The waiting area is pretty cool with rich detail, suits of armor, chandeliers, stone walls, and Gus Gus up in the rafters. The only thing missing was seating, as the waiting room was packed with people!! :scared1:

After heading up the stairs, we were lead to our table.. right by the window, with a great view of Dumbo and the Carousel in Fantasyland!! Our table was covered with cool little Cinderella's coach confetti instead of the usual mickey confetti.

Enough of setting the stage, on to the food!! I got the Salmon-Crab Cake as my appetizer which had a yummy lemony zest.. fantastic!
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2cWNUFfI/AAAAAAAAAmQ/iKc9xswB1pQ/_MG_3607.jpg

and my DW got the BLT salad (Applewood Smoked Bacon, Tomato, Egg, Red Onion, and a wedge of Iceberg Lettuce drizzled with Roasted Shallot Vinaigrette) which was delicious (she's trying to figure out how to copy it at home)
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2b0su0bI/AAAAAAAAAmM/Ih-eap_HfoM/s720/IMG_3571.jpg

For our main entrées, we both got the Pork Chop (with Bacon and Mushroom Ragout and Red Bliss Mashed Potatoes finished with Sweet Chipotle Glaze) and were pleasantly surprised by how good it was, as I didn't have high expectations of CRT as a "foodie" restaurant
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2dqvTbFI/AAAAAAAAAmc/yQY-7VsnvgI/s720/IMG_3576.jpg

During our meal, the princesses came around one at a time. What was funny, was the table next to us had a little boy that obviously was sooo excited to meet them.. right up to the point where they would arrive at the table, in which he would get very shy and make some creepy faces as he stood paralyzed like a statue. This happened princess after princess, and definitely was an entertaining site to behold. :rotfl2:

For dessert we both got the buckle, which although it was very good, we both decided it could definitely use ice cream on top instead of the whip cream
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2hipLflI/AAAAAAAAAnE/CLhqZoejgG0/_MG_3613.jpg

One of the things Disney does for anniversaries pretty consistently is free dessert. After "Dessert #1", he brought out "Dessert #2", a chocolate cake covered in vanilla glaze
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2i-Lej1I/AAAAAAAAAnM/SGm4JrsGTdE/_MG_3615.jpg

All in all, this was a great way to help end the first day!!

Of course, the rest of the day didn't go as well.. after our meal we enjoyed watching "Wishes" and a little later the "SpectroMagic parade" (not sure why they changed the order). Anyways in the midst of the dimmed lighting of the park for the parade, I somehow managed to twist my ankle after missing a stair I was walking down (or falling down, depending how you look at it :) ). This made the rest of the vacation go a little bit slower, which in the end was actually a good change, haha.

Great review of CRT:thumbsup2 My family and I went last Nov.for dinner too.
My DH and I both got the prime rib and it was very good and came out to the temperature we requested. I also had mixed feelings because ot the bad reviews on the food. I however went in there for the castle ambience and was very surprised by the food. My kids wanted to eat there agin on our next trip but I figure because of the cost we could skip it this trip and maybe go next time:banana:

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S9NrM8OOOJI/AAAAAAAABHM/F3STz6xE5Tc/minnie.gif Day 2: Lunch at Yak & Yeti

Thanks to everyone for following along on our culinary journey around WDW! I’m glad that everyone is enjoying our posts, we are having a lot of fun putting them together. We ended our first full day in the parks with DH twisting his ankle, it was not the way we imagined ending our evening. Since his sister lives nearby she was able to go and get him a nice variety of ace bandages to try out on Day 2 of our adventure. I felt so bad watching him hobble around with his bad ankle and skinned knees, but since I am pregnant, it was also nice to bring him down to my speed.

Our ADR at Yak & Yeti was scheduled for 11am, as soon as the restaurant opens. We were able to add DSIL to our party without any hassle from the hostess and we waited only a few minutes before being lead to our table. If you’ve dined at Yak & Yeti before you know that there are two stories in this restaurant and they seem to fill upstairs before they seat people downstairs. DH hobbled his way up the stairs (there is an elevator but he insisted that he was brave enough to make the climb) to our table. ;) Our server greeted us with a very warm welcome and described the ins and out of the DlxDDP. This was where our first and really only issue with Yak & Yeti came up, ordering our beverages. As many of you know, you’re allowed one non-alcoholic beverage with your meal. On our previous visit in September (also on DlxDDP), DH had been allowed to order the Berry Cherry Limeade and had unlimited refills. We were told this time that drink was not included in the dining plan. DSIL ordered one anyway since she was paying OOP.

Now, being pregnant I’m not supposed to drink caffeine so my soda choices are very limited at Disney restaurants and resorts. Sometime between our trip in September and this trip, Disney stopped serving regular lemonade everywhere and instead offers light pomegranate lemonade. I really wanted to like this drink, I just didn’t. I wasn’t looking forward to twelve days of sprite so I asked at every place what our other drink options were. I was told by our server that Yak & Yeti offered only soda and iced tea for the dining plan, so I went with Sprite. Another bummer was that our server did not tell DSIL that her drink did not come with free refills until she had finished her first drink, so she switched to water with her meal.

For our appetizers, DH ordered the Seared Ahi Tuna (chilled, sesame-encrusted ahi tuna, wasabi aioli, and sweet chili slaw). He thought it was very tasty and he even shared a piece (or two) with his sister. I had to just watch and drool since I couldn’t have the raw fish.

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S9ztkVsDTUI/AAAAAAAABH0/c1YYPXLGSl8/s912/IMG_1875.JPG

I ordered the Lettuce Cups (minced chicken breast, chopped vegetables, maple tamarind sauce, crisp lettuce cups) and there was enough for all three of us to share. This is a very refreshing start to the meal.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S9ztjzHHpAI/AAAAAAAABHw/GsO626K4BDY/s912/IMG_1874.JPG

For his entrée, DH ordered the Baby Back Ribs (slow-roasted ribs, hoisin BBQ sauce, chicken fried rice, sweet chili slaw). He’d read so many positive reviews about the ribs he was excited to try them for himself. He was not disappointed, the meat just fell off the bone and he was in sticky finger heaven.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2mKaronI/AAAAAAAAAns/W7I3_i1t_WY/_MG_3683.jpg

My entrée was the Tempura Shrimp (chili plum sauce, coconut-ginger rice, stir fried vegetables) and it was delicious. Sometimes tempura shrimp can be really heavy and leave you feeling too stuffed after you eat it but that is not the case with this entrée. It was a nice light batter and the rice and vegetables were perfect accompaniments.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S9ztldI5CeI/AAAAAAAABH8/kUqQW4VVKvs/s1024/IMG_1357.JPG

DSIL ordered the Shaoxing Steak and Shrimp (skirt steak, tempura-battered shrimp, jasmine rice, stir-fried vegetables, chili plum dipping sauce) and she gave it two thumbs way up!

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S9ztk1hCcdI/AAAAAAAABH4/BPbw1NMyrfk/s1024/IMG_1356.JPG

While we were enjoying our lunches we couldn’t help but notice that our server hadn't really returned to check on us and when he did come by he didn't take away our dirty appetizer plates. This really started to bug me after a while because I couldn’t figure out why they were still on the table. We also had to ask him for specific drink refills, he never offered or brought them without us asking.

For dessert, both DH and I ordered the Fried Wontons (skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, vanilla ice cream, honey vanilla drizzle). We had these for the first time back in September and we couldn’t wait to enjoy them again and share them with DSIL who had never eaten at Yak & Yeti before. They did not disappoint. A wonderful combination of hot and cold, sweet and tangy, these desserts have it all. They’re worth a trip to Yak & Yeti just to enjoy the fried wontons.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2nXb6iUI/AAAAAAAAAn4/68fTqAozKLM/_MG_3684.jpg

After we were stuffed and looking at a table full of dirty plates we were ready to go out and enjoy the rest of our day with the animals. Our server was fairly quick in processing our two separate checks and worked with DSIL to get her CM discount. He was also very specific in letting us know that gratuity was not included in the bill. DH and I both used to wait tables while in college and I was a server/bartender at a restaurant in the heart of Waikiki for a few years so I understand the culture of tipping in a “tourist place.” But I found it really off putting when a server kept reminding us that gratuity was not included and asking how we were going to pay for gratuity. We had specifically brought cash for this purpose but it really felt like some servers did not believe that we were going to leave them something if we did not give them a credit card to charge.

Thank you everyone for following along on our magical food adventure. Sorry for the delay, lots going on around here lately ;)

On to one of our favorite restaurants, Boma!! I just love how richly detailed the entire resort is, the exquisite lobby, the cool lounge overlooking Boma, and just how differently the Boma restaurant's decor is. What keeps bringing us back to this buffet, be it for breakfast or dinner, is the variety that you just can't get anywhere else on property.

We specifically booked a day that had the ribs because I have heard so much about them, and never really paid attention to the day we booked before. Unfortunately, although the ribs had a nice spicy taste, they were very tough and just not worth eating compared to all the other goodies available. From yummy carrot ginger soup, the hummus/tapenade with pita, strip loin, fufu, falafel, etc.

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2pry_w5I/AAAAAAAAAoM/XDIRwWNUwwA/_MG_3903.jpg

But don't forget to save room for all those decadent bite size desserts. Chocolate mousse with cinnamon (delicious!!), caramel cheesecake, coffee tart, bread pudding with vanilla rum sauce. We might be in the minority from all the praise the Zebra Domes get, but we just don't enjoy them as much as the other desserts :)

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2spXOyPI/AAAAAAAAAok/sJfOOvllquY/_MG_3910.jpg

Our wonderful server even brought out a special dessert for us!! I find the wait staff here to be pretty consistently good, spot on with drink refills even when I threw in a Jungle Juice curve ball for dinner :rotfl2:

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2r-G8GVI/AAAAAAAAAoc/mxBt5uoaAEY/_MG_3908.jpg

They definitely did not disappoint (aside from the ribs, but there was plenty of other choices to enjoy) and we will certainly be back whenever we return to the World!

One thing to note, especially with the addition of the bus stop at the Kidani Village, is that it takes a pretty long time to get to these restaurants from any of the parks. If your relying on buses to get here, definitely make sure to give yourself some extra time to get there on time.

So glad I found your reviews, I'm in the process of picking restaurants for my DH and my first trip alone. I've been trying to figure out which restaurants to eat at while on our upcoming trip. I'm thinking about doing the Regular Dining Plan, the deluxe is just too much food for us. I'm hoping to try different restaurants that I've never eaten at before, so your reviews of the different restaurants is great. Keep them coming, it will make it easier to pick the right place after reading your reviews.

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S9NrM8OOOJI/AAAAAAAABHM/F3STz6xE5Tc/minnie.gif Day 3: "Breakfast" at The Hollywood Brown Derby

Hi everyone! Sorry for the delay between postings, we had a busy weekend. Saturday was my baby shower and we had a lot of fun. There was even a relay race where my girlfriends had to push a Mickey plush around in a stroller through an obstacle course. And of course, we want to wish all the mothers out there, and those (like me) who are about to become mothers a wonderful Mother’s Day!

Back to the dining reviews! This is what you’re looking for after all. :rotfl:

Our "breakfast" or "first lunch" on our third day was at the Brown Derby, our first time eating here and we were both excited. We checked in early for our 11:30 ADR hoping that we could get sat earlier but they didn’t open until 11:30; so we took a seat in one of their comfortable couches and relaxed in the nice AC. At around 11:15, the hostess approached us and asked if we wanted to open the restaurant, we weren’t sure what all this included but we said “sure.” At 11:30 they called us over to cut a red ribbon while they announced our names and that we were celebrating our 8th anniversary. After we cut the ribbon we got to walk down the stairs into the main seating area and the wait staff threw Mickey confetti at us and took our picture. We were lead to our table, a booth, also covered with confetti and given our menus. It was a fun experience and towards the end of the meal they brought out this great souvenir they made us that included our pictures as if we were celebrities dining at the restaurant, we brought it home with us to put in our vacation scrapbook (if there was ever enough time in the day to finish one). :rotfl2:

Our server was great; he talked us through the menu and answered all our questions. DH ordered an iced-tea to drink and I went with a sprite. He also returned with a bread basket that featured warm bread and soft butter, a lovely combination. I had heard so many wonderful things about the cobb salad at the Brown Derby I was really looking forward to trying one. However, the lunch menu only included a cobb salad for two under the appetizer selection. I asked our server if it would be possible for me to try it without DH ordering it as well since he wanted to try something else and he said that wasn’t a problem. So I enjoyed the cobb salad (finely chopped greens, turkey breast, egg, bacon, tomatoes, crumbled blue cheese, avocado, chives and Cobb dressing, I had mine without the blue cheese) and it was delicious, I enjoyed every last bite.

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2tYPR2gI/AAAAAAAAAos/2EmsZFzIl2A/s720/IMG_3701.jpg

DH ordered the blue crab cake (with potato crust, green cabbage slaw, cognac mustard sauce, and remoulade) for his appetizer and he really enjoyed it. We live in Maryland and we eat a lot of crab cakes; the potato crust on this one made for a different taste/texture that we both really enjoyed.

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2ts3HBjI/AAAAAAAAAow/vVoK2yFgeg0/_MG_3958.jpg

For my entrée I ordered the Loch Daurt Salmon (with Scotch whisky maple glaze, fruits and barley filled crepe, and buttered sweet asparagus). I really enjoyed this dish and the fruit and barley filled crepe was so much more tasty than it sounds.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2uk793MI/AAAAAAAAAo4/rbriVlS6zYA/s720/IMG_3702.jpg

DH ordered the Sterling Silver Pork Chop (topped with smoked gouda and apricot preserve served over Napa cabbage, bacon and potato hash with apple cider jus). He loved it; the sweet and savory were a nice combination.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a2wpheh2I/AAAAAAAAApI/uplTik7NuOU/_MG_3962.jpg

For dessert, we both ordered the world famous Grapefruit Cake (Light Layers of Yellow Cake with fresh Grapefruit Cream Cheese Icing). Yum, yum, yum!!

He wasn’t there all the time, but we always had our drinks refilled and dirty dished cleared away when we were finished.

These are the best dining reviews I've ever seen.. keep it up, keep it up.

I'm going 9/30 with BF. I haven't been in 2 years, and he's only been once for a day trip. We're doing 4 nights, so I'm really struggling with all the great restaurant choices. I KNOW I want Jiko (he's from South Africa) and California Grille.

We're doing the regular dining plan.

This is so fun.....I could read these all day.

Thanks all for the encouragement and well wishes!!

This trip we definitely wanted to do Fantasmic, which our favorite restaurant to get the package from is Mama Melrose (especially if your on the regular DDP, this restaurant is only 1 TS credit and you get an appetizer included!!). Since packages are very limited, and you can only book this by phone (not available online for some reason), this is one of the priority reservations I make as soon as our window to make reservations is open (other priority restaurants include Le Cellier, CRT, 'Ohana, California Grill, etc which you can book online).

Last time we were here it took quite a while to get seated, but this time there was no wait at all (which surprisingly was a pretty common this trip, not bad for one of the busiest times of the year). Shortly after getting sat, our server brought out two glasses of champagne (elsewhere they usually checked with us first to make sure we both could have alcohol), so I got to enjoy both glasses :)

For my appetizer, I got the Tomatoes and Mozzarella, which was very fresh and delicious. I had heard reports of similar appetizers being small, but this definitely was not!

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a21NwPpKI/AAAAAAAAApw/UJV0gNSLMQY/_MG_3992.jpg

My DW got the Vegetarian Minestrone (sorry, looks like we didn't snap a picture of this), which wasn't anything special.

For entrées, I got the Oven Baked Chicken alla Parmesan, which I consider the best on property. Lots of gooey cheese, nice size chicken breast, with a good sauce.

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a23N310xI/AAAAAAAAAqE/QIu3ODNDN18/_MG_3995.jpg

The DW got the delicious looking Vine-Ripened Tomato Flatbread (with sweet basil pesto and caprino cheese), tons of cheese (which looking at the description now, she probably shouldn't have eaten) and yummy pesto ;)

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a21qQhrII/AAAAAAAAAp4/hCgDT_EQTHQ/s720/IMG_3746.jpg

For dessert, I had the Mama's Tiramisu. Now, I know last time I was here I had a delicious Tiramisu, with the typical espresso soaked lady fingers, mascarpone cheese, etc. I guess I didn't read the description carefully this time, but this time it was a Tiramisu flavored gelato with large chunks of ice in it, just was not good at all.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a24URaaTI/AAAAAAAAAqQ/XbXQUj-GBlQ/s512/_MG_3996.jpg

DW got the Crema Limone, light and delicious.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a23qCRHmI/AAAAAAAAAqM/gDAtQeXBUJ4/s512/IMG_3748.jpg

Last time we utilized the Fantasmic package, when it came time to go to the show, you went up the normal entrance and just split off to the right and took a seat in the reserved section. This time around, they had you go around by Beauty and the Beast into the back area. I had no idea the hike from there to the reserved section, it seemed to take forever (I think it goes around the entire water area of the show). Of course, after all that eating, we could use the extra walking, it was just unexpected at the time, haha ;)

When they write "DDP" it means Disney Diing plan. This person had the deluxe plan. I believe, though, with the regular dining plan, if you book Fantasmic, you get some sort of appetizer... look at the allearsnet.com site.

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S9NrM8OOOJI/AAAAAAAABHM/F3STz6xE5Tc/minnie.gif Day 3: Dinner at Kouzzina

When we were planning this trip we weren’t sure if we would get the DxDDP until two months before our trip, once we figured out what plan we were using we realized that we had a few extra table credits to use up. We went back to our “wish list” of places we wanted to eat and tossed around the idea of Kouzzina. We had originally hoped to have lunch here, but they aren’t open for lunch. We figured that since we were having an early “dinner” at Mama Melrose we’d have a later second dinner. The deciding factor was when we looked at the menu online; without even talking to each other we both decided that we were really looking forward to trying the lamb burger. :goodvibes

Following the 8:30 showing of Fantasmic! we followed the long path as we headed towards the exit. It was really frustrating to see the boat dock over the fence and know that we had to walk so far out of the way to get there when all I wanted to do was jump the fence. We made our way over to the Boardwalk via boat and decided to get off at the first stop (Swan/Dolphin) and walk across the bridge so we wouldn’t be too late for our 9:30 ADR. As soon as we checked in, we were promptly sat at a small table for two. It was kind of an awkward location right next to another larger table but we made it work. We never ate at Spoodles so we can’t compare the present décor to that of its predecessor, but we both liked the open kitchen and color scheme.

While looking over the menu we both noticed that the lamb burger wasn’t listed as an entrée. Our server explained that it was no longer on the menu; however, there was a mini-lamb burger that was a part of their Trio entrée. We ordered our drinks (Coke for DH, Sprite for me) and debated what we were going to eat…we weren’t all that hungry (this was our third meal of the day) and we’d both really had our hearts set on the lamb burgers. :sad2:

For his appetizer, DH ordered the Crisp Calamari and Lemon (coated in Aborio Rice Flour with Spicy Yogurt and Garlic Yogurt). He thought that the Calamari had great flavor and was a fun presentation.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a26pVeoMI/AAAAAAAAAqk/qozEDn5anwU/_MG_4079.jpg

I ordered the Spiro's Greek Salad (with vine-ripened tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, kalamata Olives, and feta) for my appetizer. When I told her that I didn’t want the feta cheese (grr…pregnancy) she sort of made a face and told me that it was really good and she’d bring it on the side so DH could eat it. It was a nice salad, nothing too unique for a greek salad but refreshing none the less after a long day of food.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a25VcuBiI/AAAAAAAAAqY/H5zmE6e7-D4/IMG_3756.jpg

For our entrée, we both ordered the Kouzzina Trio (tasting size portions of Pastitsio, Char-grilled lamb burger, and Cinnamon stewed chicken with orzo). We really wanted to try the lamb burger and while we both gave the other two items a chance and wanted to like them, we just didn’t. Pastitsio was described to us as being a “greek lasagna” we both thought it looked like baby food. And the taste wasn’t that much better. The cinnamon stewed chicken was rather tasteless. The only shining item on the plate was the lamb burger, it was really amazing. Looking back we should have asked if we could substitute the other items for more lamb burgers. Oh well, live and learn.

For dessert, we both ordered the Baklava (traditional walnut and cinnamon pastry with pistachio gelato). We love baklava and were sure that Kat Cora could not mess this one up. Well, the picture speaks for itself; this baklava was anything but “traditional”. I think of baklava as being layers of flaky sweet goodness. This version was more of a “baklava log” and as a result it was kind of dry. The gelato helped with the dryness but still, the log was way too hard to eat and we were both left a little disappointed.

Too bad about the two other items that came with your entree. I'm surprised that they took the lamb burger off their menu. I'm looking forward to what you thought of your breakfast there and for your review of Le Cellier. We are going there for lunch in August for the first time and I need help deciding what I'm going to order. ;)

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S742ookqYbI/AAAAAAAAADg/WrUTwqfo1SM/mickey.gif Day 4: Lunch at Le Cellier

Le Cellier is one of our favorite restaurants in the World, and definitely our favorite 1 credit dining plan meal. This is true so much so, that originally I had booked 3 lunches here for this trip, but decided toward the end of our planning to free one up for y'all and switch up to another World Showcase restaurant.

I want to mention that Le Cellier has consistently had THE best servers on property. I don't know if they put crack in the water up in Canada, or what, but our server is always competent, very energetic, personable, and attentive. This trip was no different with another amazing service experience. He joked with us, told us stories, recommended courses, was on top of everything!

For out appetizers, we both got the amazing Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup, along with the yummy pretzel bread (remember to tell them pretzel bread only, no one wants that other stuff)!!

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3AjRoF-I/AAAAAAAAArk/DqFtiJTVtR4/s720/IMG_3777.jpg

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3AAACXrI/AAAAAAAAArc/iMNHGZeT5eE/s512/IMG_3775.jpg

About this time, our server also brought out complimentary anniversary champagne (with the appropriate substitute for my DW), we definitely were spoiled this trip!

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3DuIPxII/AAAAAAAAAsA/s4zx0E1NUo8/s512/IMG_3780.jpg

For my main entrée, I usually get the filet (with cream cheese mash), but wanted to give another menu item a chance this time. This time I tried the New York Strip Steak (with bercy butter, balsamic red onions, watercress, and roasted Yukon potatoes). Delish!! So tender and juicy, another winner!

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3DPhiuBI/AAAAAAAAAr8/NsigToYgmVs/_MG_4101.jpg

The DW got the Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon (with wild mushroom risotto, white truffle and herb butter sauce). It was done without being too dry, even though she would always prefer a Medium steak, it was nice to be able to enjoy the filet while pregnant without risking the baby or ruining the quality of the meat.

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3CdO9yOI/AAAAAAAAAr0/sTXa4uVJTqE/s720/IMG_3779.jpg

For dessert, we both got the Chocolate "Moose". I love how they have fun, delicious desserts here. They even encourage you to create a Frankenstein animal with any "Moose" remains you have left, haha :rotfl2:

Great reviews! My DH and I had an ADR for LeCellier (made the ressie exactly 180 days before) but then I canceled it. We decided to take my SIL, BIL and their kids with us.

Really enjoying your reviews. I agree with you about Kuzzina. We really were looking forward to eating there, but it was a disappointment. My DH never got his food. The desserts were dry. But the service was excellent. We were there Dec 09. I was hoping they have improved. We are planning our Dec 10 trip and I dont' think Kuzzina will be one of our dining choices.

Kouzzina is the only restaurant we've ever gotten up and left. Front of house service was poor (good server, but awful manager), and when the kitchen sends out hot food on a refrigerator-cold plate, I know it's time to go.

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S9NrM8OOOJI/AAAAAAAABHM/F3STz6xE5Tc/minnie.gif Day 4: Dinner at Kona Cafe

After a fun day at Epcot, we caught the monorail and headed over to the Polynesian for our dinner at Kona Café. We used to live in Hawaii and being at the Polynesian always feels a little bit like visiting an old friend. This is one of our favorite restaurants on property and we have made a point to eat dinner here every trip. We even went there for dinner in our Woody and Jessie costumes before MNSSHP last September. :rotfl2:

We arrived early for our 8:25 ADR and explored the gift shop for a few minutes before our pager went off notifying us that our table was ready. During our dinner we had the chance to talk with another patron who happened to work at Space Mountain. He shared some funny stories with us and it was entertaining talking with someone who worked at WDW. Unfortunately the conversation we overheard from the guests on the other side of our table was not as fun. This one mother kept snapping at her son who couldn’t have been older than four and telling him to “shut up.” Luckily, they were just finishing up as we sat down so they weren’t there too long.

Our server came by and introduced herself and asked us what we wanted to drink. DH ordered a Kona Pale Ale and I ordered a virgin Pina Colada.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3FwBZvvI/AAAAAAAAAsc/LFjWzxoozrY/s576/IMG_3846.jpg

When our server returned with our drinks she also brought us some of the delicious bread with honey macadamia butter. :thumbsup2 For our appetizer, we both order the Pot Stickers (wok-seared duck dumplings with creamy ginger soy sauce). They were, as usual, delicious!

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3FhxdnYI/AAAAAAAAAsY/bt7n2sb_yyw/_MG_4179.jpg

DH has a favorite entrée that he orders every time we’re at Kona Café, Tuna Oscar (served with fried green tomatoes, tempura-fried jumbo lump crab, and wasabi hollandaise). This is one of his favorite meals on property one of the reasons we make a point to come to Kona Café for dinner every trip.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3IcHDOvI/AAAAAAAAAsw/efhhwY2xOvQ/_MG_4182.jpg

I on the other hand order something different just about every time we visit Kona Café. This time I went with the Pan Asian Noodles (Asian noodles with shrimp, peanuts, seasonal vegetables, and soy-peanut sauce). I found this dish to be very tasty and filling without being too heavy. I loved the combination of sweet and savory in the sauce.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3Gdd-1-I/AAAAAAAAAsg/BWey8QMarvo/s720/IMG_3847.jpg

For dessert, we both ordered the chocolate fondue; we’ve found this to be a great sweet way to end a meal without being too heavy. The dark chocolate sauce came with fresh slices of pineapple, strawberries, kiwis, crispy cookies, and macaroons. Everything went well with the chocolate (well, I’m not a big kiwi fan so I passed those to DH). DH also ordered a café mocha to have with his dessert as his non-alcoholic beverage.

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3J14T_5I/AAAAAAAAAtA/0iZjHf8upEQ/_MG_4183.jpg

In addition to our delicious desserts, our server brought out a dessert for our anniversary. It was a puff pastry filled with chocolate and topped with custard and cream. I remember that the chocolate part was delicious and the rest was good but we didn’t eat the whole thing, we were so full at this point.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3Lo65K9I/AAAAAAAAAtM/Zi447tUPU-M/_MG_4186.jpg

We left Kona Café very satisfied and walked back to the TTC to catch the monorail and return to Epcot for some evening extra magic hours!

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S9NrM8OOOJI/AAAAAAAABHM/F3STz6xE5Tc/minnie.gif Day 5: Dinner at Jiko

Tonight was our big date night! We had tickets to La Nouba and an early ADR at Jiko, and we were very excited. After a nice afternoon break at the resort where we relaxed by the pool and did some laundry. We caught a bus to the Animal Kingdom and the driver asked us where we were going since the park was about to close. We told him that we were trying to get to the Lodge for dinner and he was kind enough to make an extra stop on the way to AK and dropped us off at the Jambo House. Little moments of magic like this are why we love Disney so much!

We were early for our ADR so we checked in and asked for a seat by the window. Funny story, we all know that there are dress codes for Disney’s signature dining establishments but we’ve all seen the guy at California Grill walking around in torn shorts and a sloppy t-shirt. On our previous trip to WDW in September we had dined at Jiko for the first time and coming straight from the park in shorts and t-shirts we were sat in the private wine room with a family of 15. We didn’t get to enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant so we made a point on this trip to dress up since we were heading to La Nouba right from the AKL.

The hostess sat us and gave us each a Happy Anniversary button to wear; they had written a big 8 on there since we were celebrating eight years. Our server came by and introduced himself and asked us what we wanted to drink. We started with water and he brought them back out with the bread service. I then went with a sprite to drink and DH ordered a glass of red wine, I believe it was a Chakalaka Blend.

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3QXXgkjI/AAAAAAAAAt4/GMQDmy4Dx0I/s576/_MG_4286.jpg

For my appetizer I ordered the BBQ Chicken Flatbread (with Apple-Jicama slaw, African barbecue sauce, and four cheeses). I had this when we went in September and it was just as yummy as I had remembered. The apples are a great accent in flavor and they add a nice crunch to the flatbread.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3P0zl1oI/AAAAAAAAAt0/OL49y_tQ_QQ/s576/IMG_3943.jpg

DH ordered the Crispy "Savanna" Rolls (with sweet corn, bitter greens, goat cheese, and curry vinaigrette). He said they were light and tasty and “outstanding”; I was bummed that I couldn’t try them because of the goat cheese.

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3RBHm0WI/AAAAAAAAAuA/Df6p5xfIlfA/_MG_4288.jpg

For our entrée we both went with the Oak-Grilled Filet Mignon (with Macaroni & Cheese and Red Wine Sauce). Here was where the meal went downhill a little. DH ordered his medium-rare and it came out medium to medium well. I ordered mine MW and it was very well done. I am not a fan of well-done steaks but with the baby coming I am not supposed to eat a lot of “rare” meat. Both our steaks were overcooked so that was a bit of a letdown. Our server never really returned to check on our food, so we went ahead and ate our entrees the way they came out, they were still tasty, just not what we had hoped for. The macaroni was excellent, although I forgot to ask what the “four cheeses” were and after I had finished eating I overheard the server at the table next to us telling her guests that it had goat cheese in it. :sad2:

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3SXht47I/AAAAAAAAAuM/9d95TWo9tFo/_MG_4290.jpg

For dessert, I went with the Kenyan Coffee and Koeksisters (Kenyan Coffee Ice Cream with Spiced Doughnuts); I substituted cinnamon ice cream for the coffee ice cream. The doughnuts were fresh and delicious! The cinnamon ice cream was a little gritty because of the cinnamon but it was still refreshing.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3VWlLtVI/AAAAAAAAAuo/ZhFfq6LEQug/s720/IMG_3950.jpg

DH had the Lemon-White Chocolate Mousse (with Spiced Blueberry Coulis and Vanilla Tuile); he thought it was light and refreshing. He also enjoyed a cappuccino with his dessert for his non-alcoholic drink choice.

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3WAs2lGI/AAAAAAAAAuw/Y-OlajAUYKY/_MG_4294.jpg

We were also presented with a Pistachio Creme Brulee (with a chocolate-layered bottom) on the house for our anniversary. It was delicious but we were too stuffed to enjoy the entire dessert.

We have heard so many good things about the breakfast served at Kona Cafe that we definitely wanted to give it a try this trip. Now, we love to go to Kona Cafe for dinner, which we do pretty much every trip to the World, but this would be our first for breakfast (admittedly because for the resorts we stay at, it's not the most convenient to get to).

So off we go, with a bus transfer and a ride on the monorail to arrive at our early morning reservation at the Poly. The Poly has such a nice, refreshing, tropical feel, it's one of our favorite resorts to visit!

There were two things at Kona that I wanted to try, the Tonga Toast and the Big Kahuna. Lucky for me, my DW was up for sharing this morning :goodvibes

The Tonga Toast (banana stuffed sourdough bread, rolled in cinnamon sugar and served with Strawberry Compote and your choice of ham, bacon, or sausage) was fantastic. The sweet of the Tonga Toast paired with the savory meat was a perfect combination. It's definitely a great item to share!

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3XkywGbI/AAAAAAAAAvA/u9A5tnGBPdM/s720/IMG_3994.jpg

The Big Kahuna (French toast, Macadamia-Pineapple pancakes, eggs, home fried potatoes, ham, bacon, and sausage) is a huge breakfast with a little bit of everything that you could possibly want. The star of the plate are the pancakes, which certainly made us miss Hawaii.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3Zs-6hTI/AAAAAAAAAvU/mN6hkUjC6-A/_MG_4357.jpg

To drink, Kona has some great options, including the Lilikoi (passion fruit, orange and guava blend) which was fantastic, as well as the best coffee press on property (100% Kona Coffee).

The great thing about breakfast here is that afterward you have two great transportation choices to the Magic Kingdom. The monorail or a relaxing boat ride (which was our choice this time). If only we could afford to stay here

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S9NrM8OOOJI/AAAAAAAABHM/F3STz6xE5Tc/minnie.gif Day 6: Lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern

I’m sorry for the delay in posts; we’ve been keeping busy getting ready for baby. We’re down to the last few weeks before our son’s due date and I’m pretty sure that we’ll never actually be “ready” but we’re trying. ;) Let’s get back to the food and magic! When we were planning out where we were going to eat, DH did a lot of research. He read a lot of the food blogs and explored the various menus. We ate lunch at LTT in 2007, and I ate dinner there with my family back in 1989. When deciding where to have lunch on Sunday to use up all our points we checked out all the MK table service restaurants. DH’s research told us that LTT had one of the best appetizers, burgers, and desserts in MK and they did not disappoint.

We arrived a little late to our ADR (thanks to another ride on one of our favorites, TTA) and were initially told that our ADR did not exist. DH gave the host our reservation number and he was able to look it up. He told us that their computer erased ADRs after ten minutes. Oops. Don’t panic though; this is why it’s always good to bring your reservations with you! He found our names and we were sat quickly thereafter.

Our server came by to introduce herself and we ordered our drinks (DH got iced tea, I got a sprite). For our appetizers we went in different directions. I ordered the New England clam chowder for my appetizer. This is a VERY thick soup and very filling.

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3ah2fRHI/AAAAAAAAAvc/oJrgURPZjp0/s720/IMG_4040.jpg

DH ordered the Tavern Fried Cheese (with marinara sauce); this includes both mozzarella cheese sticks and cheese curd. DH had been reading/hearing about how amazing this was and he had to agree with the masses. He did share a few bites with me and I agree that it was very tasty.

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3axaG0PI/AAAAAAAAAvg/1rnf62khW-w/_MG_4695.jpg

For our entrees, we both ordered the Angus Chuck Cheeseburger (topped with bacon and cheddar served with fresh fruit or tavern fries). We both found the burgers to be very juicy and flavorful; and they were cooked to temperature perfectly.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3clIpslI/AAAAAAAAAvw/KCXB6dmWm08/_MG_4698.jpg

We couldn’t finish our burgers because we wanted to save room for dessert. I ordered the Caramel Apple Tart (shortbread crust, sugared apples and cinnamon ice cream). It was yummy and the ice cream was refreshing.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3du1BZ7I/AAAAAAAAAv4/wQLi1mKP_8o/s720/IMG_4044.jpg

However, DH had the better dessert, hands down. In fact his dessert may have been one of the best of our entire trip. I was definitely having dessert envy while I watched him eat. He had the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake (vanilla cake with a gooey toffee filling and caramel sauce). This really was an “ooey gooey” dessert and it was DELICIOUS. :worship:

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3eP7V5ZI/AAAAAAAAAv8/Myf-prfGxus/_MG_4700.jpg

We were really full by this point and our server surprised us by bringing out a chocolate cupcake for our anniversary. She graciously brought us a container to take it with us when we explained that we were just too full of goodness to take another bite.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3e21tRmI/AAAAAAAAAwE/znNcVDoBkoU/s720/IMG_4045.jpg

Just as we were preparing to leave it started to rain, and when I say rain, I mean POUR. With our tummies full we threw on our rain jackets and made a mad dash to Peter Pan! We love WDW, where we can eat like adults and play like kids.

2 questions...how did they know of yr anniv? did you have to tell each rest individually??? and what about naubo(?) did you like it...wonderin if it is worth getting a sitter for???

When DH made our dining reservations, the cast member on the phone asked him what we were celebrating. He told him that it was our 8th anniversary and the CM made a note on each reservation. Not every restaurant acknowledged it, but some did when we checked in.

We both really enjoyed La Nouba, we were in the front and center section and while they were great seats, I cannot imagine that there would be a bad seat in the house. The theater itself isn't too big, so you'd never be far from the stage. Plus, so much of the show happens above the stage you can really see it from everywhere. The only real perk I found about having front and center section seats was that the times when the show came into the audience we really felt that we were in the middle of that. The only downside of the whole evening for me had nothing to do with the show itself but with the fact that the seats are really close together and the lady sitting next to me had very strong perfume on and liked to talk a lot during the show. She was by herself so I'm not sure who she was talking to but I just ignored her because I was nervous that if I engaged in conversation with her even once she'd take the bait and keep talking to me the entire show.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S742ookqYbI/AAAAAAAAADg/WrUTwqfo1SM/mickey.gif Day 6: Dinner at Artist Point

On a previous trip to the World, my DW and I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge, which gave us occasion to try the Artist Point restaurant. We had a fantastic meal with very memorable and unique dishes which bring back some good memories of the great Pacific Northwest, especially for my DW. From that point on, Artist Point became one of our favorite signature restaurants. That, and any opportunity to take a boat ride from the MK to the breathtaking Wilderness Lodge are reason enough to visit!

This visit we were treated to a very magical evening by an extraordinary server. I had read previous topics about a delicious sparkling red wine called Magicale which I really wanted to try this trip. To our surprise, our server treated us to a toast of Magicale to start off our meal!! Definitely two thumbs up

There was no question as to which appetizer we would get this time. Although my DW had enjoyed her Venison potstickers last time we were here, nothing compares to the Smokey Portobello Soup (with Roasted Shiitakes and Chive Oil). It.. is.. fantastic! Complex flavors and textures that dance in your mouth! We even asked for the recipe, but after taking one look at how complicated it is to make, it's a little beyond our culinary skills, haha.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3gAdvdAI/AAAAAAAAAwY/r4-yfWLm_Mo/_MG_4703.jpg

For my DW's entree, she tried the Pan-Crusted Black Cod (with wild mushrooms, onion, and bacon ragout). Light and delicious.

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3hDXN5-I/AAAAAAAAAwk/Ne8Y44EAJtc/s720/IMG_4050.jpg

For my entree, I had get the Buffalo Striploin (with goat cheese polenta, ancho-cherry compote, baby golden beets, asparagus and dark chocolate red wine reduction). Last time we were here, it was huge, very lean, cooked to perfection, and just overall amazing. Unfortunately this time around, it was fatty, gamey, and just not appealing. Luckily everything else on the plate was great, but looking back now, it should have gotten sent back to the kitchen.

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3iIrO_-I/AAAAAAAAAws/Xfai3xkY2HI/_MG_4706.jpg

Don't forget the sides while your here, usually they include them as part of the dining plan, this time we had to ask whereas last time it was automatically part of the ordering process. The Sweet Potato Hazelnut Gratin was yummy!

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3i2_iWJI/AAAAAAAAAww/iudbM7ETop4/_MG_4707.jpg

For dessert, I learned from our last visit not to get the extremely dense cheesecake, and instead opted for the yummy Artist Point Cobbler (with Seasonal berries and housemade black raspberry ice cream). Nice and light and delicious.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3kuaVZtI/AAAAAAAAAxA/QXxkJd9HiRk/_MG_4717.jpg

My DW got a Fruit Mousse with Vanilla icecream and berries.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3j92h41I/AAAAAAAAAw4/xtIG6MKsW-A/s720/IMG_4053.jpg

Our server gave each of us mickey straws with our drinks and lighted character with our deserts. My DW got Tinkerbell, and I received Buzz Lightyear. Just a nice touch from a thoughtful server

Just wondering, when you say 'Don't forget the sides while your here, usually they include them as part of the dining plan, this time we had to ask whereas last time it was automatically part of the ordering process"

Do you mean that you can order sides at all the restaurants or just Artist Point? Also, at some point you mentionned getting a cappuchino, can you always get that as your non alcholic beverage? Even for breakfast at a TS instead of regular coffee? THANKS ALOT!!!! :thumbsup2

Artist Point was the only Deluxe restaurant where the sides were included. Our first time eating there, the server asked us specifically which sides we wanted and told us that they were included. When we ate at other Deluxe restaurants (Yahtsman, etc.) the sides weren't included. When DH asked our server at AP on this trip she didn't say they were or they weren't, she was more of "they'll just take those off when they run your card" and they did. So I'm not sure what they're official policy is.

As far as drinks go, for breakfast on the DxDDP you are allotted two non-alcoholic beverages. So if you want coffee and juice you can get both since there aren't usually appetizer and dessert choices for these meals. Each restaurant offers different non-alcoholic choices. Kona, for example, has great espresso drinks that you can order as your non-alcoholic beverage. Other places offer smoothies or milkshakes that you can order. You just have to ask and get creative. :)

The soup is amazing and we are still laughing over the recipe they gave us. It calls for several different kinds of mushrooms and requires the use of a smoker, it is so complicated they don't mind giving it away. :rotfl2:

Thank you guys for continuing to read our reviews! We'd still write them even if no one was reading them but the feedback is always fun. Day 7: Lunch at Tusker House (Nemo!)

After a long day of fun and food at the Magic Kingdom, we were ready to sleep in on Monday. It was funny because once we made it to the Animal Kingdom we heard a lot of people talking about the rain storm that morning and we were like “huh, guess we slept through that!” We did some exploring around AK before heading over for our lunch at Tusker House. This was our first time eating here and we weren’t sure what to expect, but we knew that we loved Boma and since they didn’t serve lunch we figured we would try TH out. We were also getting the Finding Nemo package that included seating in the preferred section for the 3pm show. We were given our voucher when we checked in for the FN show which told us to arrive thirty minutes prior so we could access the special entrance.

Once we checked in we waited a few minutes for them to call our name to be sat. Following a quick tour of the food items and an explanation of where the restrooms were, we were shown our table. Our server came by to take our drink order (DH got a coke, and I got a sprite) and told us to go help ourselves to the food.

DH’s notes say that he ate “pork loin, roast beef, saffron veggies, orzo with feta, and olives”. I think we’ll just post some pictures of our various plates so you can see what we ate. Sorry I don’t have descriptions for all of it, but it was rather tasty! :thumbsup2

(Looking back, the pictures make me laugh because of the pickle on my plate. It doesn't exactly match the theme of the rest of the meal but all during my pregnancy I have not been able to resist pickles with just about any meal when they're offered. Luckily, I haven't craved them with ice cream!) :rotfl:

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3ofpGiUI/AAAAAAAAAxg/KT6m87exPBE/s720/IMG_4108.jpg

In my opinion, the dessert selections at Tusker House were better than those at Boma. We both tried the baklava, chocolate cake, and bread pudding and all were wonderful! DH also had some of the macaroons and enjoyed them immensely.

Thanks for the well wishes! I admit I had to laugh when I read the part of my review that you quoted, because samoas are girl scout cookies! I had to look it up again and what I was referring to are actually called samosas, that's what I get for typing late at night. :rotfl2:

Samosas are "stuffed pastries with a savory filling, which may include spiced potatoes, onions, peas, coriander, and lentils, or ground beef or chicken. The size and shape of a samosa as well as the consistency of the pastry used can vary considerably, although it is mostly triangular. Samosas are often served with tamarind chutney or curd." The samosas at TH had a mango chutney served on the side...they were yummy!! :goodvibes

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S742ookqYbI/AAAAAAAAADg/WrUTwqfo1SM/mickey.gif Day 7: Dinner at Citricos

One of our goals this trip was to make sure to dine at as many of Disney's signature restaurants as possible, especially the one's we haven't been to before.

The entrance to Citricos is a bit interesting in the fact that it is shared by Victoria and Albert's. It has an odd feeling in the fact that you see people dressed to the nines for V&A (per their dress code), but also people in T-Shirts and shorts for Citricos, in the same small area.

Regarding the atmosphere of Citricos, I would regard it as the most formal of the signature restaurants, and although we saw many people in park attire (a few groups wearing matching loud/brightly colored T-Shirts), it's definitely a place to dress up a bit more for.

Our server here was wonderful. He presented us with special menus which were printed specifically for us, as well as anniversary buttons to wear, and then started us off with a champagne toast (sparkling cider for the DW). Very professional and attentive, although he did disappear for a while and another server had to step in to take over, only to have him reappear at the end of the meal. Perhaps that's just how they do it there?

For our meals, I started off with the oft talked about Sauteed Shrimp (with Lemon, White Wine, Tomatoes, and Feta Cheese). Many of my favorite things in one tasty dish. Delicious!

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3q0laSLI/AAAAAAAAAx4/txzE9dhZORM/_MG_5029.jpg

My DW had the Gateau of Crab (with Jumbo Lump Crab, Orange Fennel Cream, and Tomato Fennel Slaw). She described it as good, but pretty runny/wet for a crab dish.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3qQvichI/AAAAAAAAAx0/I6_wN5OTu4g/s640/IMG_4193.jpg

For my entree, I had debated over which dish to try here, as I want to branch out from getting steak at every restaurant, but nothing else really caught my eye here. So I went for the Oak-grilled Filet of Beef (with Spanish Onions, Peppadew and Banana Peppers, Quattro Formaggi Crushed Potatoes, and Veal Glace de Viande), and am glad I did! They have a unique spin, and the flavors really are pretty amazing..

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3r3wW3MI/AAAAAAAAAyE/SqJ4ef-YI14/_MG_5032.jpg

The DW went for the Braised Short Ribs (with creamy polenta, sauteed greens, and blood orange demi-glace), which was good, just not amazing :)

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3rG3c-FI/AAAAAAAAAx8/A02wzZjkN_M/s640/IMG_4194.jpg

This was the time our server disappeared, and our dessert order and presentation was handled by a different server. If a restaurant had Tiramasu (with chocolate and vanilla sauces), I'm going to get it! Thankfully this didn't turn out like the Mama Melrose fiasco (if y'all remember back that far, haha), and this became the best of the trip by default.. so far that is ;)

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3t1kvToI/AAAAAAAAAyc/UHivhH1nTSg/_MG_5033.jpg

The DW went in a different direction to the "over the top" Warm Chocolate Banana Tart (with vanilla ice cream and caramelized bananas). This was a very rich dessert, with a huge chocolate tiara. Impressive to look at.. just a bit too much to end a meal.

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3slpzmGI/AAAAAAAAAyM/xB0nvZSVYh0/s640/IMG_4196.jpg

This was a pretty long meal timewise, and unfortunately we were in a hurry at this point since we had a reservation for the last carriage ride of the evening at Port Orleans. In order to get there on time, we had to grab a taxi.. which luckily we made it in the nick of time! Although we really enjoyed our carriage ride, when we were talking to the driver we made the mistake of telling her we were staying at the French Quarter. Although it was nice of her to take us from Riverside right to our building at French Quarter, our ride was cut short by over 10 minutes which we had paid for!!

Our dinner at Kouzzina was underwhelming, but we were willing to give it another chance. We arrived for our breakfast ADR and were sat promptly in a mostly empty restaurant. Our server checked in with us and we ordered our drinks, DH ordered a pressed pot of coffee and I ordered a Mega Berry Smoothie.

For his entrée, DH ordered the Stacked Kouzzina Breakfast (Two Poached Eggs, Kalamata Olive Toast, Artichoke Spread, and Sweet Potato Hash with choice of Bacon or Chicken Sausage). He loved the sweet potato hash, crisp bacon, and dill sauce. He’s not a big poached egg fan but enjoyed this meal. DH also ordered an orange juice to go with his breakfast.

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3wSRMZ5I/AAAAAAAAAy0/6wONTWdeQSY/_MG_5047.jpg

I had debated between the french toast and waffle and decided to go with the Classic Golden Waffle (with Whipped Mascarpone Cheese, Honey, and Chopped Pecans with bacon). It was a big waffle and the cheese, nuts, and honey combination was very yummy and filling. I also ordered chocolate milk with my waffle to wash it all down.

As we finished our breakfasts and were ready to head to Epcot the manager came to our table with a cupcake and candle and announced to everyone that we were celebrating our anniversary. It was really sweet of him. But that early in the morning, a cold Disney cupcake was not too appetizing but we each took a bite for good luck. :love2:

Great update! We ate at Kouzzina's for breakfast last year and liked it, so we are going back. I had the waffles as well and thought they were good. I was talked into the chicken sausage by our waiter, and I was glad he did! That was great as well!

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S742ookqYbI/AAAAAAAAADg/WrUTwqfo1SM/mickey.gif Day 8: Lunch at Rose & Crown

Since this trip we had a ton of dining credits to use, we wanted to hit many restaurants we haven't tried before, along with our old favorites. Rose & Crown is one of those restaurants which looked like a really cool place, with the whole pub atmosphere, as well as being the only restaurant right off the water. We hadn't tried it up until this point mainly because it's a lower priced restaurant and we usually try to maximize our dining plan usage, but this trip was a little different

I've heard mixed reviews about this place from different sources, from it being great, all the way to it being horrible, but I have to say I really like this place! Fairly reasonable prices for some pretty great food! We chose to eat indoors this time to get a chance to really soak up the atmosphere of the restaurant, but I could easily see dining on the patio on a future trip for the great water view.

Recently my DW and I had gone to a Renaissance Festival in which I was disappointed to find they didn't have Scotch Eggs, which I used to be able to get at a similar festival when I was younger. Well to my surprise, Rose & Crown does serve them! So that's "eggsactly" what I got (with Frisee and green bean salad served with mustard sauce)! It was everything I remembered and more.. I'm salivating just thinking of it with the great mustard sauce!!

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a30OzquGI/AAAAAAAAAzU/gBl2reruZ0Y/_MG_5388.jpg

My DW got the Potato and Leek Soup, great flavor!

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3xMZzL-I/AAAAAAAAAy8/Wdn6_X3mGX0/s720/IMG_4319.jpg

To help wash it down, I got the Imperial flight, a great deal if your in the mood for beers. It was at this point that we had gotten the attention of our neighbors and we struck up a conversation. They were so jealous of our choices as they had gotten something different (escapes me exactly what they had gotten), but they asked to take a picture of the Scotch Egg and beers to send to someone ;)

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a32O6_XkI/AAAAAAAAAzk/kJn1saYciNo/_MG_5393.jpg

For my meal, I order the Bangers and Mash (with braised cabbage and bacon, mashed potatoes and shallot gravy). This meal just gets better and better. These had great flavor and were very filling!

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a35fwq8pI/AAAAAAAAA0I/l7F7YRoVtSM/_MG_5399.jpg

My DW got the Harry Ramsden's Fish & Chips (with English Chips). You really can't go wrong with these, they are perfectly battered, light and delicious!

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a32xvekWI/AAAAAAAAAzs/gc68jwXlwIk/s720/IMG_4323.jpg

If there was a weak point to my meal, it was the dessert. I got the Scotch chocolate cake. It's not that it was bad, in fact it was pretty good, just nothing special.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a37E3nTvI/AAAAAAAAA0c/S48bs215Heg/_MG_5402.jpg

Luckily, my DW picked a winner (alright, I wanted to pick this too, but we usually pick different things so we can try them out). She picked the Sticky Toffee Pudding. I think the picture says it all!

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S9NrM8OOOJI/AAAAAAAABHM/F3STz6xE5Tc/minnie.gif Day 8: Dinner at Narcoossee’s

DH and I first ate at Narcoossee’s in September when we were at WDW for MNSSHP and we loved it! We were really excited about going back, in fact at one point we had two ADRs set up, but we decided to give one up to go to CRT. This meal was extra special because we were going to be dining with DH’s sister and her boyfriend. As previously mentioned, she is part of the Disney college program so she’ll be in Orlando from February until August. Her boyfriend was visiting her for his spring break from college. We had told her that as part of her college graduation present that we wanted to treat her to dinner at Narcoossee’s since she had never eaten there before.

Parking at the Grand Floridian is kind of a pain so DSIL and her boyfriend were running a little late for dinner but we were all there and sat within a few minutes of our ADR time. Our server came by and introduced herself and we explained that two of us were on the DxDDP and that the other two were not. Once all the technicalities were out of the way we decided on drinks. I think that everyone tried a different wine except for me. I had a pina colada smoothie. ;)

Everyone in our group decided to order an appetizer. For my appetizer I ordered the Crab Cakes (with Southern Slaw and Cajun Remoulade sauce).

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a378msQEI/AAAAAAAAA0k/XBVloSrWqO4/s720/IMG_4339.jpg

DH ordered the ahi tuna appetizer, this was a special item that day and not on their regular menu. He thought it was very good.

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a39Wv0r8I/AAAAAAAAA00/7ZWZGcJeH1Y/_MG_5532.jpg

DSIL ordered the Crispy Duck Roll (with savory lentils, cucumber, tomato, red onion relish, and Cilantro-mint vinaigrette). We didn’t take pictures of their food but she said that she really enjoyed them. Her boyfriend ordered the Shrimp and Crab Chowder (with Dill Créme Fraiche, micro onions, and Narcoossee's Oyster Crackers) and he thought it was delicious.

For our entrées, I went with the same thing that I’d had on my previous trip to Narcoossee’s, Surf and Turf (twin medallions of filet mignon, lobster tail, potato gratin, broccolini, and shallot-red wine butter). I thought that this meal was better the last time we were there, but the difference is more my fault than theirs. I had to order my steak cooked medium well (I would usually order Medium) because of my being pregnant. Then for some reason I chose to eat the medallions before I ate the lobster so by the time I got to the lobster it was a little rubbery. :sad2:

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a3_4qI_7I/AAAAAAAAA1M/S3uAHqX2rkA/_MG_5535.jpg

DH also ordered the Surf and Turf as did DSIL, everyone loved their meals. DSIL’s boyfriend went with the salmon and said it was really good. DH said his lobster was delicious and I was kicking myself for not eating it first.

After we finished our dinner we went outside to watch Wishes from the wrap around deck. It’s a great place to watch Wishes from and we all enjoyed the show. After going back inside, we ordered coffee and dessert to end our wonderful evening.

I ordered the Gelato Sampler (chocolate, raspberry, pistachio and cappuccino) which was just as refreshing and tasty as when I had it in September. It’s a great light way to end a large meal.

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a4ASEporI/AAAAAAAAA1U/PhglGJM1LE8/s720/IMG_4362.jpg

DH ordered the Almond-crusted Cheesecake (with lambert cherry sauce). I have to admit that this is a really delicious dessert and I was tempted to order it myself but I was so full. He also ordered a café mocha with his dessert. I can’t remember what DSIL and her boyfriend ordered, she may have also gotten the cheesecake, and I think that her boyfriend may have gotten the chocolate mousse or something like that. But again, we didn’t take notes on their meals or pictures. Sorry.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a4BE87YBI/AAAAAAAAA1c/Lpft1bsqdY4/_MG_5537.jpg

The end of the night consensus was that everyone enjoyed their meal and experience with Narcoossee’s. We were celebrating DSIL’s college graduation, our anniversary, and her boyfriend had just found out that he’d been accepted to graduate school. :yay:

I love the country just not the food. Although I would be willing to try Rose and Crown. My DH always points out that Irish and Brits are known for pubs and great beer, not so many great dishes!! :lmao: The great restaurants are usually "other" nationalities.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S742ookqYbI/AAAAAAAAADg/WrUTwqfo1SM/mickey.gif Day 9: Lunch at Tutto Italia

Ahhh, another beautiful day in Epcot. We all know that one of the main draws of Epcot is all of the unique in-park dining options. Tutto Italia is one of those options that should not be missed, especially when on the dining plan!! It's one of the highest priced one dining credit locations, and the food does not disappoint.

We had a 1pm lunch reservation, and were seating with absolutely no wait. We were seated in the narrow section by the window, which had a nice view of the outside courtyard. One thing that stood out during this meal is the amount of teamwork we noticed, it was incredible! We had no less then 5 different people that brought us drinks, brought out food, cleared plates, and took our orders.

For my appetizer, I ordered the Calamari Fritti (with spicy marinara sauce). They do a great job here making them nice and crisp, and serve it with a nice lemon wrapped in cheesecloth to strain it. With the nice spicy marinara, this is one of my favorites!

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a4Du0rwII/AAAAAAAAA1w/Wn0bcAyTvIs/_MG_5620.jpg

My DW got the Prosciutto di Parma (Prosciutto ham, seasonal melon). The combination of sweet and savory makes this a hit! I always have to sneak a piece or two as it's a great appetizer that's very light and delicious.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a4Cs8qyRI/AAAAAAAAA1o/21AOxxyj8Fk/s720/IMG_4380.jpg

For my entree, I got the Cotoletta. I was a bit thrown off by the small bone, but wow, what a nice dish. Tender and juicy with a light layer of breading and delicious sauce and cheese. I can't seem to find any full menus online to get all the specifics of the dish, but I think you'll get it when you see the picture ;)

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a4GYR6nNI/AAAAAAAAA2M/eJ1OYPadkpM/_MG_5625.jpg

The DW got the tried and true Farfalle (with Bowtie pasta, Italian prosciutto ham, peas, Parmesan cream). We've made this many times at home since it was so good!

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a4E6hDomI/AAAAAAAAA18/7fM68SaLZwg/s720/IMG_4381.jpg

I hinted at it in a previous review, but this is where I got the best Tiramasu of the trip. I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur of Tiramsu, and the Mocha Tiramisu (mascarpone cheese, espresso coffee, savoiardi biscuits and chocolate) at Tutto Italia is the best of the World!

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a4JN28jlI/AAAAAAAAA2s/sRBaGchefk4/_MG_5635.jpg

My DW got the Copetta Sotto Bosco (berries, zabaglione cream gelato and chocolate sauce). A perfect way to end a great meal from start to finish.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a4G-YBANI/AAAAAAAAA2U/pr-QVUuyLCI/s720/IMG_4386.jpg

They did bring out an anniversary dessert too, which looks pretty cool. I can't say that we ate it, but it took a great picture, haha..

I've enjoyed looking at your reviews. I won't be going to disney until next oct so I am enjoying living through everyone else. Especially with being pregnant, I am enjoying the pictures. Good luck with the your upcoming new little one. We are having a boy also.
I will keep checking back to see more reviews

I am enjoying looking at the pictures. I had the baby a week ago and I can't believe a week has gone by. Hopefully the time will go quickly until we can get back to Disney. Thank you for the pictures. I really like the dessert pics.

I'm still waiting, somewhat patiently, our little guy is taking his sweet time and that is fine as long as he's healthy when he gets here. But I'll tell you, waiting out these last few days until his due date is both exciting and nerve wrecking! We're just so excited to meet him already!

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S9NrM8OOOJI/AAAAAAAABHM/F3STz6xE5Tc/minnie.gif Day 9: Dinner at Flying Fish Cafe

Our last time to eat at the Flying Fish Café was on Thanksgiving Day in 2007 with my sister and brother-in-law. We had enjoyed our meal then but DH and I had not returned since then. But this trip we were visiting a lot of new restaurants and revisiting some old friends and this was one of those places. We’ve now tried all the signature restaurants and have established a list of favorites. This was the ninth day of our twelve day trip and a good friend of mine was flying down to join us for three days at the parks. Her friend works for Disney so she was able to stay with her offsite and meet up with us during the day. So this was her first meal with us and we were excited to show her around the Boardwalk.

After a fun afternoon at DHS we took the boat to the Boardwalk and checked in for our ADR. We sat outside for a few minutes waiting for our buzzer to go off before we were sat. But it gave us time to use the restroom (which isn’t located in the actual restaurant but in the sweet shop next door, and is shared by both FF Café and Kouzzina patrons). We were finally sat and presented with some personalized “Happy Anniversary” menus. Our server came by and introduced himself and we ordered our drinks. DH ordered a blood orange margarita and I ordered a lava smoothie. As soon as our drinks came out from the bar we were also presented with an appetizer from the chef, however, I didn’t write down what it was.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a4QcFmobI/AAAAAAAAA3o/xqGGEFONVl0/_MG_5809.jpg

For my appetizer I ordered the herb and fennel pollen roasted lobster salad. It was a unique combination of fresh flavors, but for some reason it didn’t hit the spot for what I was craving that day. But I’m not sure what else I would have ordered.

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a4N4-_8YI/AAAAAAAAA3Y/P-Ql7tUjIk0/s720/IMG_4417.jpg

DH ordered the Crispy Maine Coast Jonah Crab Cake (savory Vegetable Slaw, Roasted Red Pepper Coulis, and Ancho Chile Rémoulade ). He liked the crispiness of the crab cake but still preferred the crab cake he’d had at Brown Derby to this one.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a4RFiEPjI/AAAAAAAAA3w/3G-gJoaFO78/_MG_5813.jpg

Our friend ordered the calamari and said it was delicious!

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a4O-LJ2SI/AAAAAAAAA3g/4RXdMgzxY5o/s720/IMG_4418.jpg

For my entrée, I ordered the Oak-grilled Maine Diver Scallops (Butternut Squash, Sage, Mascarpone and Pecorino-laced Risotto di Carnarolli, Proscuitto di Parma Cracklins'). I am a person who eats with my eyes first and I have to admit this dish didn’t look very appetizing. I ordered the scallops well done to make sure that they were cooked enough to not affect our sweet baby. The scallops were fine, but the overall combination of flavors just didn’t work for me.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a4RwcwOeI/AAAAAAAAA34/9_Cbp3becp4/s720/IMG_4420.jpg

DH ordered the Smokey Citrus and Fragrant Pepper-spiced Yellowfin Tuna (Saffron Potatoes, Piquillo Peppers, Roasted Fennel, Tiny Tomatoes, Chorizo and Saffron-Vegetable). He liked his entrée but found that his tuna at Kona Café had been much better.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a4TDeU9xI/AAAAAAAAA4E/qO1bNfPBN_o/_MG_5815.jpg

For dessert, DH and I both ordered the Signature Flying Fish Café Caramelized Banana Napoleon (phyllo, banana mousse, creme caramel, exotic fruit coulis and bitter chocolate) and I thought it was delicious, my favorite part of the meal! We shared them with our friend. We were also presented with a special dark chocolate and mint crème brulee on the house for our anniversary. Between the three of us we enjoyed dessert a lot! DH also enjoyed a café mocha with his dessert.

I think that if I had not been pregnant I would have ordered different foods and enjoyed my meal a little more. I love seafood but I limited myself a little here. However, our desserts were very satisfying.

Summary: I’m not sure how I feel about Flying Fish after our two dining experiences. I feel like I need to give it another shot before deciding if it will be a “favorite” or not. I just don’t know when that will happen. We’re hoping to return to WDW for our tenth anniversary in 2012 with some extended family members and I’m sure that my sister and brother-in-law will want to eat here again as they enjoyed it so much in 2007. But we may be able to talk them into some of our other favorites instead (Jiko, Narcoossee’s, etc.).

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for understanding as we took a brief hiatus to enjoy the newest member of our family. DS is now eight weeks old and I'm headed back to work next week which is going to take some adjustment as I love spending so much time with my new angel. :cloud9:

DH and I are celebrating our ten year anniversary in 2012 and we always said that would be our next trip to WDW. But now we're getting an itch for a trip and we can't wait to introduce our son to our happy place. So who knows, we could be back in the Florida sunshine sooner than we thought. :yay:

Enough about that... let's get back to the reviews! :)

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S9NrM8OOOJI/AAAAAAAABHM/F3STz6xE5Tc/minnie.gif Day 10: Lunch at Le Cellier (Again!)

Yes, we enjoy Le Cellier so much that we ate there two times for lunch on this trip. On this day my friend was joining us and it was going to be her first visit to the restaurant. Unfortunately, she had decided to give up red meat for Lent, so she was not able to enjoy one of the most amazing steaks on property but we managed none the less.

We were sat as soon as we entered the restaurant in one of the cozy corner booths. Our server was wonderful and very friendly. She was great about helping us maximize the dining plan. Both DH and I ordered a Red Maple to drink. We had been told on previous visits that if we ordered the appetizer trio it would use up both of our appetizer credits. This server encouraged us both to order the trio so we were able to share all the delicious goodness with my friend. The crab cakes were delicious, the tomato stack was refreshing and nothing holds a candle to the cheddar soup.

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a4W2YbUqI/AAAAAAAAA4w/rm3JZ7Cgghk/s720/_MG_5859.jpg

For my entrée I went with the Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon (with wild mushroom risotto, white truffle and herb butter saucefilet)…again…it’s just that good! DH also went with the filet for this meal. When we got our food I was so excited that I jumped right in and forgot to take a picture. I remember thinking “it’s ok, I can use the one from last week” and it was then that I realized how different my plate looked from the previous picture. This steak was a smaller portion with less risotto. Very interesting, it was still tasty but kind of disappointing on some level. The picture below is DH's filet, he substituted the cream cheese mashed potatoes for the mushroom risotto.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S8a4XS3LZQI/AAAAAAAAA40/627PtrkyH28/s720/_MG_5860.jpg

For dessert, my friend and I both enjoyed a little “moose” made of chocolate. DH ordered the smores and commented on how much fun they were to eat, didn’t hurt that they were also very yummy. All in all it was a wonderful lunch. One of the highlights was that my friend was so excited that she was able to order one of her favorite Canadian beers and they even put it in one (okay two, it didn’t all fit in one) plastic cup for her to take with her to walk around world showcase. It was funny because as soon as we left the restaurant she saw a topiary that she wanted to take a picture of, so she asked me to hold her beer. Let me tell you, a pregnant girl holding two beers gets a lot of “looks” from people. :lmao:

Summary: Small and cozy cellar setting with yellowish lighting. Wasn’t that busy when we were there considering it was spring break, we overheard the table next to us saying that they were able to walk up and get a table, even their server commented that that “almost never happens.”

Summary: Another great value for our deluxe dining dollar. I do think that we got lucky and it was a fluke that we were able to both order a trio appetizer. Our server made a comment at the end that she had to get her manager to fix our ticket because the dining plan only took off one appetizer (as we had been told previously that it would) but since she had told us we could get it, she made sure it happened. I am not sure if her manager corrected her after we left.

On a side note, my friend who joined us still talks about how amazing Le Cellier was and how she can't wait to go back, and she didn't even try the steaks! :rotfl2:

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_X6zj_U3aWak/S9NrM8OOOJI/AAAAAAAABHM/F3STz6xE5Tc/minnie.gif Day 10: Dinner at Ohana

To give you a little history of DH and I, we met while we were both living in Hawaii and we were married in a small ceremony on the beach with our family and a few close friends standing by us. We’ll always hold a special place in our hearts for the islands of Hawaii. We were living there when “Lilo and Stich” came out and we loved that Disney was embracing the amazing spirit and culture of Hawaii. We ate at Ohana for the first time during our last spring break trip and we really enjoyed ourselves. When we were thinking of a place where we could eat with DSis, her boyfriend, and our friend we knew that we wanted to go back to Ohana. Since only DH and I were on the dining plan we wanted a place that wouldn’t break the bank for our other guests but would allow them to eat as much as they wanted of whatever they wanted.

We were sat at a large round table near the grill but off to the side from the main dining room. While this limited our view from the windows we didn’t have as much noise from all the children’s games, activities, and our singing Cousin. Our server came and introduced himself and explained the process since this was the first time at Ohana for most of our group. We ordered drinks and dove into the bread service as soon as it was placed in front of us. DH ordered the backscratcher (I just had to watch with envy) and I ordered a pineapple juice. Everyone was enjoying their drinks when they brought out our appetizers. The salad was very refreshing, the sticky wings were sticky, the noodles were tasty and my personal favorite the potstickers were gone before we could blink our eyes! We ordered seconds on almost everything while we waited for the meat to start coming around.

The meat service was hit or miss, we seemed to get a lot of one item offered to us before something else would come around. Some of the meats were very dry and needed extra dipping sauce. Everyone seemed to have their own favorite which is part of why Ohana is so much fun; everyone can get what they want. For some reason, I loved the shrimp on this trip and kept asking for more when it was offered. We all enjoyed the vegetables that came with our dinner and asked for more. (I apologize for the picture below, I usually stay away from pictures that showcase dirty plates or already eaten food, I think it's gross looking. But at a place like Ohana it's hard to keep your plate clean!) :rotfl:

Our favorite part of Ohana is the dessert, the amazing 'Ohana bread pudding served a la mode with Bananas and Caramel Sauce. As soon as they had sat this on the table we were asking for another bowl. Everyone was stuffed but it was just so yummy we overindulged!

As if we weren't stuffed from all the food and yummy bread pudding we'd indulged in, our server brought out a cupcake to help us celebrate our anniversary. I can't remember if anyone ate some of this but the candles were a nice touch and it was fun to make a wish as we blew them out. Although I'm pretty sure that DH wished that we would move back to Hawaii.

After dinner we waddled down the beach and watched Wishes. It was fun to compare this viewing spot to the deck at Narcoossee’s and sitting on Main Street. This was the only time that our friend was going to get to see Wishes and she thought it was beautiful watching the fireworks from the beach with the music piped in. After Wishes, we all headed our separate ways. Three of us took the boat to the MK to catch a bus back to our resort. DSis and her boyfriend headed back to her car in the parking lot. This was going to be our last time to see her during our trip and it was sad to say “goodbye” but we were so excited that the next time we saw her we’d get to introduce her to her new nephew!

On a side note, during the fireworks we were all teasing her boyfriend because he was being so quiet and he’s usually more outgoing. Little did we know that he had a lot on his mind that night. DSis called us as soon as we got home from our trip to let us know that after we all went our separate ways that night, her boyfriend proposed to her and she said “yes!” so DSis’s boyfriend is now DSis’s Fiance! Very exciting and we’re glad that we were part of their big night in some small way. Ohana really does mean family!

Summary: Our server was really nice and personable, however, he did not refill our drinks that often, we had to ask a few times to get more water. The meat service was rather sporadic as well in that we might see steak a few times before the turkey, pork or shrimp came around.

Summary: We were looking for a fun place to have a casual dinner with a group of people who didn’t know each other very well. This was the first time that my friend met my sister in law but everyone got along quickly and conversation was never at a lull for too long, unless we were stuffing our faces with food. The quality of food isn’t the best on Disney property but it’s a fun dining experience and we’re thinking about bringing an even larger group here for our anniversary dinner in 2012 to honor our Hawaiian wedding!
