Good luck everyone, especially those of you doing the OKC half. That will eventually be my Oklahoma race.

I have the Hermes Cleveland 10 miler tomorrow. I came down with a cold on Thursday but stayed home today to sleep it off and I think I am well enough to do the run in the morning. I don't anticipate a great time but sometimes you just have to get up and make the doughnuts.

Hopefully the rain will stay away until it is done.

Frank Hope your 10 miler goes well....but I thought you were going to say " sometimes you just have to get up and EAT the doughnuts". Wasn't there a race like that?

Good Luck Everyone!

Good luck everyone!

Maura - The Krispy Kreme Challenge (http://krispykremechallenge.com/) is now in its 6th year. And no, I haven't participated although I have run a few barathons (http://www.tchoupitoulasbarathon.com/home.php) when I lived in New Orleans. Now if you combine beer, donuts and running that could get real ugly.

Unfortunately I had to skip the race. I woke up and just didn't feel well enough to do a 10 miler. I hated to skip it, especially since I already paid, but decided to be smart and listen to my body. I have a feeling not being able to eat very much since early Thursday didn't help.

Time to concentrate on getting ready for Indy and trying to PR.

I hope everyone else's weekend goes more to plan.

I've run the Krispy Kreme Challenge - only ate 4 of the doughnuts, but DD and her friend and I split the dozen so we could say we ate a dozen and not be lying! Great race.

Ran the Run for Our Heroes 5K in downtown Raleigh this morning. Only the second year, but almost 1000 people turned out, probably half of them police officers from area departments. The race honors officers killed in the line of duty, and there was a really nice ceremony before the start. Decent goody bag for a 5K, and a local pub was offering free food after the race from 11:00-1:00, but we were done well before 10:00 and didn't want to stick around so we skipped that part.

I've only done run/walk since I started running, so my goal for this race was to run the entire distance. I've been nursing sore calf muscles for a few weeks, and I woke up with a migraine, so I figured the goal wasn't going to happen today and I'd just get through the best I could. Warmed up a little and it was still hurting, but once I started I felt really good. Ran the distance, and beat my previous PR by almost 2:00.

On to Indy!

Jackie Congrats on your race and for running the entire distance! So now that you've done it once, what do you think? Will you do more running, or stick with the run/walk?

I survived my first race on Sunday -- 5 miles! :goodvibes I'm feeling a bit like the poster child for doing too much too soon but I am recovering quickly and ready for my another shorter walk/race next month that is 3 miles. Thanks for the encouragement and support -- I would never have done this if it wasn't for my WISH friends! :cool2:

Thanks for the support!

For anyone interested, I have posted a long race report on the team Ohana and Tri Thread, but it is so long that I don't want to cross post to here as well.
