How big is the KTTW card and how does it attach to a lanyard (e.g., is there a whole in the card)? I'm looking for practical options for keeping this card handy ...
Thanks.

It's the same size as a credit card, and as far as I know, doesn't come with a hole in it. I suppose you could put one in it, as long as you didn't do it on the side with the magnetic strip.

The KTTW card is the size of a credit card. Some people look for the lanyards that have a plastic holder on the end that they can put them into (like you would a hunting or fishing license). Some people punch a hole in the card (avoiding the mag strip on the back side) and attach it to the lanyard in that fashion (bring your own hole puncher). Some people just put them in their pocket and forget about it (why ruin that tan with a white line around your neck).

I brought lanyards with the intention of putting holes in the cards and putting them on the rings. The CM at guest services said that they did not recommend putting a hole in the KTTW card because it sometimes made it difficult to swipe correctly, so we just carried it around in pockets. I would have used lanyards if they had a pocket for the card. I kept ds-8's card, but the two 12yo kept theirs. The 8yo liked for me to give it to him so he could open the room.

You can but the plastic holders separately, in the canoe section of a store like REI or Galyans. These plastic holders have a hole at the top, where you clip the lanyard onto the plastic pouch. I loved having my KTTW card this way, and for shore excursions added my photo ID to the pouch as well.

The lanyards in the gift shop have plastic holders (or at least some do). One of the families I was with bought one for their daughter. They weren't "too" expensive, but don't remember how much.

THIS is one of the DCL lanyards you can buy onboard. I believe it was $6.50 (pins not included!). The attached plastic holder securely holds your KTTW card. You can also get them with the hard waterproof plastic case.

I knew the lanyard wasn't that expensive. I bought one of the hard cases (waterproof) to put my cards in on Castaway Cay. I am glad I bought it and it was only $5.00. I wish I had bought one of the regular lanyards also, and will if we cruise again with Disney.

Do the kids in the lab need to have their KTTW cards with them to sign in and out? Just wondering if it is worthwhile to get the lanyard for DD.
Thanks!

I found "ID Holders" at Walmart for $0.97 yesterday in their Wallet section. They have an outside pocket and a plastic zipper pocket. They have a "break-away" lanyard that velcro's together. Not quite as nice as the wider strapped lanyards but will work great for kids to put their KTTW and a couple of dollars in!

if you go to WDW first and check in using your american express card, you'll get a free amex lanyard with the clear plastic holder on the end...
if not, you can buy one for about $5 in the store on board the ship (i bought one for my daughter)..
i bought myself the hard plastic holder that holds more than one card that i'm still using today on land here at home....

Do you mean if you buy tickets with AMEX at the park?
Also, do all passengers get a KTTW at DCL check in or just the adults?
Thanks

I don't have an amex card - and figured it wasn't worth the annual fee to get a lanyard! We did buy the plastic holders at CBR this summer (the ones that are about the size of a cigarette box ) that are water proof. They are very handy - but if I wanted a smaller option.

absolutely....i'd never get an amex card just for the stupid free lanyards...
i don't even use those lanyarsds...i'd much rather use the disney ones...
i was just pointing it out for anyone who didn't know...
we use our amex card when we travel.....(no credit limits so it's much much more convenient)....

Hope I didn't sound cranky about the Amex card thing! I was really interested in the "extras" you can get by using their card to book the cruise - but I read some threads awhile back about all of the difficulties people had so I'm not sold on it...yet :D
