I just saw on the news that Springsteen's new CD The Rising debuted this week as the #1 album in the nation. . . :) :) :bounce:

It also got a 5-star rating from Rolling Stone, including a pretty decent review from Kurt Loder. . . Link To Review (http://www.rollingstone.com/recordings/review.asp?aid=2044473&cf=68)

It's an amazing piece of work, and I'm very glad it's getting the attention it deserves. . . :) :) :)

I have never really been a fan of Bruce. (sorry Willy )

But I have to say, a co-worker has been playing some of this new stuff for me, and I am enjoying it more than ever, so I guess there is hope for me yet.

I did hear on the radio this morning that this album was going to bump whatever was at #1 out of first place today.

Really glad you are enjoying it Willy.

I can't wait to hear the new album!

Tickets go on sale Saturday for the Nov. 24th concert here in Tampa. I'm going to surprise DH and give him tickets for our 10th wedding anniversary!

No Eros. . . Springsteen's new CD is topical, deep, insightful, spiritual, and substantial. . .

I don't think it's his act that's getting old. .

Though I'm not a huge Springsteen music fan, I am a Springsteen fan! (that does make sense). He DOES a lot for the community and the state of NJ. He doesn't just say, he DOES and that has always impressed the heck of out me.

Don't have his new album yet, but I will (money is tight).

Last night at the stadium I heard (since I didn't go :( ) people were partying early. The lots was pretty much at capacity by 6 PM!

You go Bruce!

I understand what you're saying perfectly A&HMom. . . he's not the kind of person who just complains about things; he actually goes out and tries to make a difference, and not just by throwing money at things. . .

There was a nice article in Time about how he was deeply moved while reading the obituaries after 9/11. . . several widows from that horrible tragedy said how out of the blue the phone rang and on the line there he was. . "Hello, this is Bruce Springsteen. . I don't want to disturb you, but I just wanted you to know how sorry I am for your loss. . ." and then spent as much time as they wanted talking with them. The women said how much his reaching out like that helped them. . .

He's just a class guy, and too cool. . . :) :)

Quick review of last night's show.....

DH said it was a good show. He played about 2 1/2 hours (short for Bruce) and there were no special guests and no surprises. Pretty much a standard show.

There was a bit of grumbling when he played 41 Shots especially in the aftermath of the WTC.

Seats were filled; general admission was packed. There was a special section of G/A at the front of the stage - looked like it was for band tickets and record company people.

Bruce sounds a bit more raspy these days than usual. Hopefully that will improve as time goes on.....

I bought The Rising yesterday, based on everyone's positive recommendations. I'm listening to it right now, only halfway through the CD, and I think it's great!!!! :) This is going to get played a lot!! :)

Cool Snowwark!! :) :) :)

There's so much good stuff on it, but I think The Fuse and Worlds Apart are 2 of the most unique songs he's ever done. . and throughout the whole CD the E-Street Band, (especially Max Weinberg on drums) have never sounded better. . . :)

Glad you're enjoying it!! :) :) :)
