I read that there's a 5k on Castaway Cay. Does that happen on every cruise?

As far as I know there is one every landing, at least on the Wonder. It isn't a race as much as a group run. You can go at your own pace or even walk. They used to give you are certificate for doing the run but I don't know if that is still the case. I had to email them after the fact because I didn't originally get one. They mailed me a certificate and a button which was nice.

That's so cool! I'm running every Disney race this year (6, so far, including the fun runs), so I'm definitely hoping they do the 5k on my cruise!

I ran it in January. No more certificate, but you get a water bottle.

8:30 am disembark, meet the cast member on the pier. They walk you over to the island map sign, show you the route, and everyone takes off at their own pace.

Be sure to check in at the end of the run, where they take your name and room number. The gift bag shows up later that day.

Take your camera with you.

Bummer about the certificate, but the water bottle will come in handy for the parks after the cruise. Thanks for all the info!

your camera with you.

I always do! :)

Jeff:

Tom and I are looking forward to doing this twice on our upcoming double-dip cruise this summer.

Cool! You'll have to let us know if there are any new "prizes".

Is there an age limit for the event? Could my senior parents and young nieces and nephews participate? Is there a time limit? It would be cool if they had a special Castaway Cay 5k pin, like they have for the other Disney running events.

It is go at your own pace so there is no age or time limit. At least there wasn't one when I did it.

Thanks, Frank! They're already training for the Family Fun Run 5k at Disneyland, so they'll just have to keep it up a little while longer.
