My DD was at her dad's for her birthday and got some money. I also sent her money when she was there, but her leaving suddenly and unexpectedly, she forgot her money. It's been a few weeks and they haven't sent it back to her. Do you think its tacky for a parent to spend a child's birthday money on something other than the child?

Ya know what's sad...she's more upset about them not sending her birthday money than she is about them not calling her. She hasn't heard from them since the day she left.

Has she contacted him and asked him to send her money to her?

I talked to him right after he met my grandparents and did the handoff and he said he forgot her money and would send it.

Maybe a gentle reminder is necessary. A call to say school is starting soon and she wants to buy a special outfit?
If they actually spent the money, then I feel sorry for your daughter. If you are in dire financial staights and need to invade a child's funds to keep a roof over their head or food in their mouths, then okay. But to keep a child's birthday money just because they are smaller than you and you can take advantage of them stinks to high heavens!
Let's hope your ex is just forgetful, not tacky!
