We are going to the Boardwalk in late August, and have reservations for a Standard view Studio. Has anyone ever asked for a view or room upgrade and been successful in getting one (without having to use any extra points)? If yes, how did you do it? Thanks! :)

While cash reservations often can get an upgrade if available- it's not something which happens with DVC unless there is some problem with a room which can't be rectified. If your studio is not satisfactory and no other room is available- they could put you in that GV, but just a no-charge upgrade is very unlikely! Good Luck!

When we made our first ressie at home (BWV) I called prior to the closing and requested a 1BR std. view (162 pts.) At that time, all they had was prefrrd view (200 pts.) So I took that but put my name on wait list for std view (to save the pts if possible) About a month later they called and asked if I still wanted std view. I said YES. Low and behold when we got home we were UPGRADED to preferred view overlooking the quiet pool, I could watch my DD and DH swimming, and she could call up to me on the balconey and wave! My ressie once I checked in even said "UPGRADE". Just to be sure, I checked and was only charged the 162 pts for the std view lBR. As usual, Disney worked its "magic" again!! Hopefully you will get lucky!
