Hey everyone....

This is my very first PTR!!!:banana::banana:

I finished my first TR not too long ago and since we have set plans for our next trip I thought I would start a PTR and hopefully get a few followers to come along for the planning ride.

Who we are...

I am Natalie, college student and single mommy of 3!

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt175/tinkermom/Dec%2009%20Trip/DisneyDay2120.jpg

my middle child and Drama Queen ( you would swear she is a teenager already, but nope she's 8) Eryka ("mom why did you spell my name that way? no one spells it right, everyone pronounces it wrong and I hate it" "Hunny, it's all your dads fault :rolleyes1" )

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt175/tinkermom/Dec%2009%20Trip/DisneyDay5064.jpg

the baby of the family (and the child who is exactly like me that my mom always wished I would have and now she regrets that wish since she lives with us :rotfl2: ) Emma

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt175/tinkermom/Dec%2009%20Trip/Image0116.jpg

That is our travel group... so far

I know you are thinking I said mom of 3 right?

I have a son who is 16 and says that he hates Disney :scared1: I know right.. how could anyone hate Disney???? I DON'T understand. He went to Cuba on Spring Break with my single 40 year old brother (I know bad idea) so here is a pic of him even though he won't be joining us

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt175/tinkermom/Misc/Argos124.jpg

and last but not least is my mom, Rita, who has been very supportive of me going back to college in my 30's and has helped me more than I can tell any of you for the last 3 years.

I have asked her to come with us but she hasn't decided if she wants to yet

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt175/tinkermom/Misc/1stCommunion017.jpg

Ok now that you have met the gang... some trip details.

We are going to WDW December 4 - 11 2010 (and yes I know it's Pop Warner week)

We will be staying at the Polynesian thanks to a very wonderful 40% off pin I received:cool1:

we will have 8 day park hoppers since we are staying on the monorail and on our last trip the girls didn't nap once (but I did!!!!) so they can handle hopping.

I haven't decided on what parks on what days, what ADR's to make or anything else yet, I haven't even booked air yet. I don't know if we are going to fly out of Toronto or Buffalo yet.

So I hope I get a few followers to hang out and help me make any decisions I have trouble with and even offer some hints and tips I could use.

Oh and if you want to check out my TR from Dec 09 there is a link in my siggie

Natalie

OK I'm gonna start with some background on our previous trips:

My first trip to Disney was in 1989 when I was 13 with my mom. We stayed in Kissimee near old town (I don't even know if that is still there) I can't remember much about Disney for this trip cause I think we only spent a couple of hours a day in the parks. I do remember that my mom wouldn't let me go to a waterpark so I was mad, typical teenager.

Fast forward 10 years to 1999. This was my first trip as a mom. My son was 5 and this time we stayed at the CBR. This trip was great, no ADR's were needed so we ate at I believe it was Crystal Palace but not Pooh and friends, it was Minnie and Pluto and I can't remember who else. This trip we also visited Kennedy Space Centre and I got food poisoning and spent the next 2 days on the floor of the bathroom  CBR was a great hotel and I remember we stayed in building 51 because that was our street address at the time.

Now to Feb, 2008. My son is turning 14, Eryka is turning 6 and Emma is 3. I think it's time to take them again. This time it's me, the kids, my brother and my mom going. I found an ad for the Nick Hotel and they had nice size suites, so I go see the TA and tell her that's where we wanna stay. We leave Toronto on Feb 24 (Ty's b-day) and Eryka is not feeling well :scared1: We get to the airport at 4am for a 6am flight (what was I thinking :rolleyes1) and poor Eryka loses her breakfast on the curb outside the airport  We make it through the flight ok and everyone sleeps when we get to our hotel (what a waste I will never fly that early again) In the afternoon I make the girls get up to go for a swim ( I know I'm mean, even meaner here's a pic :lmao:)

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt175/tinkermom/Misc/FloridaDay1010.jpg

Now this trip I booked through a TA and at that time I had never heard of the Dis :scared1: so we stayed off site, had no ADR's and no plan. We had a good time and even got to ride Barnstormer with Donald and Pluto

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt175/tinkermom/Misc/DisneyPhotoImage84.jpg

All in all it was a good trip

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt175/tinkermom/Misc/FloridaDay3030.jpg

Then on the way home my poor Tyler got sick and the plane ride didn't help  Worst plane ride ever

Now on to our Dec 2009 trip. After our 2008 trip I came home and found the disney site, then the moms panel which led me to the Dis!!! :thanks:pixiedust:

when I started reading the Dis I figured out that although we had a good time, we really didn't do much. Now I was determined to go again!!! I read the Dis and the moms panel every day and started making lists and worksheets :scared1: now no one wanted to come on this trip but me and the girls so I said fine by me and I called up Disney and booked the CR Garden Wing for the first week of December. We got the free dining and I made all our ressies (mostly character meals so we wouldn't have to wait in lines :thumbsup2)

Now if you want details on what we did on this trip the link to my TR is in my siggie but lets just say we had a great time and fell in love with Disney at Christmas:love:

When we got home Disney was nice enough to send me a 40% off PIN and since I fell in love with the Poly while we were there I thought what the heck and I booked Dec 4-11 Garden view.:woohoo:

This brings us up to date and next I will post what I know so far for this trip (which isn't much)

Here are a couple pics from Dec 09 trip

Can't wait to hear more!

Thanks for joining :cheer2:

I fell in love with the Poly last trip and since I am very seiously considering DVC I figured I better stay there now.

We really want my mom to come since Hawaii is the favourite trip she took ever and I think she would love the Poly. I told her she needs to tell me before June 7 so I can include her in our dining ressies

Tinkermom76
04-16-2010, 07:49 PM
Ok let's talk about my vacation!!!!:dance3::yay::cheer2:

First of all the Poly. I personally would love to stay at the Beach Club but I am thinking about buying DVC so I can stay at the BC on points another time. Also I would really like my mom to come on this trip and she really loves Hawaii so I thought it would help convince her, no luck so far.

Dining plan. we had the dining plan last trip and it was almost too much food, but I was also a newbie on the DP and I really wasn't sure how to use it. I came home with 22 Mickey rice crispy treats:confused3

8 day park hoppers. last trip we didn't have hoppers but we did realize how easy it was to get to MK or Epcot in the evening for fireworks so I decided this time to add it since we are staying on the monorail again.

Now my plan for this trip was ..........not to plan:scared1:
That was a nice dream for a few days. After my OCD came back I realized that was not gonna happen:rotfl2:
I was gonna go with the flow for whatever park was a low crowd on touringplans and only make ADR's for restaurants in resorts that way we were not tied to a park on any day :lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

so I started tring to pick ADR's and I realized there are places that I want o eat that I haven't eaten at yet, so here are the places I want so far (this may change at any time)

Ohana Breakfast - new
Spirit of Aloha (Tues-Sat) - if mom comes
Chef Mickey's @ Contemporary Dinner - repeat
1900 Park Fare at GF Dinner - breakfast last trip
Cape May Cafe Breakfast - new
Le Cellier Candlelight Processional Dinner package - new both
Kona Cafe (B) - new
Tusker House (B) - new

thats the wants so far but I dont have days I want them for (help my OCD is hurting)

ok and as for the parks

AK - 1 day
Epcot - 2 days one for FW and one for WS (we did 1 day last trip)
DHS - 1 day
MVMCP - 1 day
MK - 3 days

and then I have the list of stuff that we have to try because we have never done it... everyone ready to gasp? there are lots of things we haven't done yet

Magic Kingdom
• Jungle cruise
• Raft to Tom Sawyer Island
• Casey’s Corner lunch
• Pirates league
• Aloha Isle Dole Whip
• Liberty Square Riverboat
• Story time with Belle
• Astro orbiter
• Buzz space ranger spin
MVMCP
• Early parade - late one last time
• Celebrate the season show
• Totally Tomorrowland Christmas show
• Cosmic Ray’s dance party - Ariel's Grotto dance party last time
• Cookies and hot chocolate
• Belle and Beast
• Princes @ princess meet
DTD
• Magic masters store
• Play with lego
• Once upon a toy (potato head parts)
• $10 and under store Mickey’s Mart
Animal Kingdom
• Kilimanjaro Safari
• Nemo show
• Parade
• Pocahontas and her forest friends show
• Rafiki’s Planet Watch
• Maharajah Trail - have done this one before
• Pangani Trail
Epcot
Future World
• If hot – Ellen’s energy adventure
• Electric umbrella lunch
• Soarin
• Living with the land
• Circle of life show
World Showcase
• Le Cellier (candlelight processional)
• France – Cosmopolitan Slushie (or Grey Goose Slushie)
• Norway – school bread
• Illuminations
• Kid Passport
• Kim Possible
DHS
• Parade
• Starring roles café – grapefruit cake
• Playhouse Disney live on stage
• Beauty and the Beast live on stage
• Magic of Disney Animation
• Honey I Shrunk the kids play area

So that's all I really have so far, now I have to figure out what day I want to do AK and Epcot so I can make those ressies when its time but I don't think the others matter much, especially the ones at the Poly

First off, I totally forgot to tell you yesterday, the kiddos are too cute!

Sounds like you got yourself a plan! Good dining choices too! Are you planning on eating at Cape May Cafe for Breakfast or dinner? We ate there in Sept for breakfast for the first time and I was so so so disappointed! :headache:

Thanks!!!! I kinda think they are cute too.. but don't tell them that because they will totally use it to their advantage :scared:

I was gonna try the Cape May breakfast, although I really wasn't sure. It's kinda a back up for an Epcot day if I can't get Le Cellier. The characters looked fun. Were you disappointed in the food or the atmosphere?

Yes, we did MVMCP last year and we had fun!!! Although this year I will not stand in line for 45 minutes of it to see the fairies and I won't do the dessert party during it either. This year it will be all party stuff.

As far as Cape May Cafe goes... I was completely disappointed in the food and atmosphere!!! The food was the worst that I had at any character breakfast and the characters took forever to come around!! Are waitress was terrible... We waited darn near a 1/2 hour for her to come over and take our drink orders, then if we wanted a refill she was no where to be found! When I asked for the check, it took her 20 minutes to come back... Now, I could understand if it was busy in the there to have to wait like that but it wasn't!!! Needless to say Devon was not happy, nor was I, that all the waiting cut into are park time! Who knows, maybe it was just a bad day in there the day we went, but I have heard people complain of similar issues at CMC on other threads!

ok I am back from Niagara Falls and I was a very bad Disser while I was there because I think I only took 10 photos. I decided that I just wanted to have fun and not always have a camera in my hand.

We did have a great time!!!! I took my 2 girls plus my friend Tia (who is due to have a baby anytime now and decided she would go down a waterslide just to freak me out) and her 2 daughters came. We spend 2 days playing in the waterpark and we checked out some other tourist stuff, but Tia is from Niagara Falls so she's not so into that stuff.

Here are a couple pics

This is the kids watching a movie that the hotel plays in their courtyard for the kids, tonight was Happy Feet

and this is TIA, hard to believe she is ready to pop a kid out (don't tell her I posted this pic)

Have a great time!!! You definitely deserve the get away!!! I can't wait for the end of June when I am done grad school!

it is such a great feeling to wake up and not be stressed over grades or papers that are due.

But now I have job interviews to stress over :scared1:

Now that I seem to have all this spare time on my hands I spent the whole day trying to figure out my park days and plans. I said I wasn't gonna plan for this trip but who are we kidding, my OCD has way too much control over my life and would never allow that to happen. So I have planned my park days, but those plans may change before my trip has arrived and if I spend too much time looking at them right now, they may change before the day is over :confused3
Also we have hoppers so if we decide a park is too crowded or we aren't in the mood for that park then we can change last minute if we want.

So I made way over to touring plans this morning to see what parks they thought I should go to on each day, this worked very well for me last year. Well to my surprise when I get there they pretty much told me nothing. I will have low crowds for my dates but all parks will be the best except for nights they think will be MVMCP and on those days avoid MK, which is funny cause MK is usually not very busy those days. Well I guess I'm on my own with no crowd calendar and the parks hours for Dec not released and MVMCP dates not released yet, this schedule is tentative.

Saturday December 4th

I don't have my flights yet so I don't know what time we will get there. Last year we were at the hotel by 1pm. I am hoping for around the same time this year too.
If we arrive early afternoon we will check in at the Poly and head over to MK. We can hit a few rides and have dinner at Pinocchio Village Haus. Now if we are tired we can head back to the Poly and watch wishes from the beach. if we are not tired (we weren't last year) we will watch from MK then head back to the Poly.

Sunday December 5

This will be our Epcot Future World day
Emma wants to eat with Ariel so we will have breakfast at Akershus (were gonna to Cape May but heard some bad reviews and Emma wanted Ariel so I didn't have to decide :thumbsup2 )
we will attempt the stuff I have on my list for future world and if we have time we can hit the boardwalk (but probably not)
I would like to try 1900 Park Fare dinner this night since it will be an early day at Epcot and we have only ever had breakfast there.
This night I would also like to do the sleigh ride at FW. We had this scheduled for our last night last year and because it rained it was canceled. I am hoping if I schedule it early in the trip and it rains they will fit us in later in the week.
Also while we are at FW I heard there is somewhere we can go see all the horses they use in Disney.... Does anyone have any information on this?

Monday December 6

I have this as a MK day
I figured we can have breakfast at Kona and make rope drop (unless there are EMH then we will make that)
Basically the plan for today is to do whatever we can from the list. We will eat when we are hungry where ever we are at the time.

If we get tired we can head back for a nap or a swim and if we are finished early we can see if the Poly is doing the movie that night and we can go watch it.

Tuesday December 7

This is a DHS morning/MVMCP night

Breakfast at Hollywood and Vine (I know I heard it sucks but Emma really wants to eat with Handy Manny:confused3)

The plan for the morning is to ride TSM, fastpass TSM and again fastpass TSM. I also really want to go to Starring Roles and get a piece of grapefruit cake.

for MVMCP, last year we had dinner ressies and Wishes dessert party ressies. This year NO RESSIES. I found we wasted a lot of time plus we were in line for 45 minutes to meet Tink. This year we will only do party stuff and grab counter service when we get hungry. We will hopefully get to see all the stuff we missed last year

Wednesday December 8

Since we will be at MVMCP the night before this, I thought we might like a later start so will will have breakfast around 10am at O'hana (Eryka's pick for Stitch) and then head over to Epcot for our World Showcase day.

Again will will do stuff off the list and I am hoping for the much Coveted Le Cellier ressie but I want the Candlelight Processional Package. Yes I am Canadian and I want to eat at Le Cellier but I have never had cheddar cheese soup and I have never even heard of it :confused3

We also want to see Illuminations this night since I have never seen it.

Thursday December 9

AK day.

I have designated a whole day at AK since there are a few things we haven't done
Breakfast at Tusker House and hit the list!!!

If we finish up early we will head over to DTD and grab food at Earl of Sandwich and do some shopping.
Watch Wishes from the Poly if we are back in time.

Friday December 10

Our last full day at Disney.

Kona for breakfast
MK for the morning (whatever the kids want to ride or see)

DHS for the afternoon and evening.
Pizza planet for an early dinner (so the kids can play)
Osbourne lights
F!

Saturday December 11

We will be leaving this day but I don't know what time till I book the flight, it would be nice to get a late flight out

So far I guess we will eat a Captain Cooks and pack up

If I get a late flight then maybe we can hit a park that the kids want.

That's the plans so far, but like I said these can change at any time

Argh.... going by the Allears newsletter MVMCP on Dec 7th has no advance purchase discount. Does that mean it will be busy that night?

I am wondering if I should switch Sun Dec 5 and Tues Dec 7

I knew my plans would change

Hi! I found your PTR from DevonsDisneyMom's PTR! :goodvibes

I read through what you have so far & wrote a list so I wouldn't forget anything! LOL

1) Could you please tell me how to make a Table of Contents? I know there's a thread on here somewhere that shows you how to do it, but I lost the thread & can't find it again. If you could explain it, I'd appreciate it. I've been trying to figure it out for months! (you can PM me the instructions if its too much to write here!)

2) Yepperz -- Old Town still exists!!! I went way back in 1994 or 95 and loved it! I was planning to go there this trip, but we decided not to get a rental car & just use Disney transportation. Its so much more relaxing to let someone else drive you around! Here's the website for Old Town if you want to look at it http://www.old-town.com/

3) My 1st trip was 1987, 2nd was 1998, 3rd was 2009...just thought it was funny that we had similar trip years! :)

4) Any CBR suggestions/advice? Its our first time staying there.

5) Good Luck job searching!!! :goodvibes

6) I love Eryka's communion dress...it was beautiful! I also liked how cute it was that Emma's dress matched her doll's dress!

7) I've never had a Dole Whip either...I thought I was the only one! I definitely will get one this trip!

8) AK -- Go on Kilimanjaro Safari FIRST before Rafiki's Planet Watch or the petting zoo...we made the mistake last trip of just wondering around the park. We went to Dinoland first to make a bathroom run, then wondered around Asia. We finally made it to Rafiki's Planet Watch & went on the train, to the petting zoo, etc. By the time we made it back, like 2 hours later, the FastPass for KS was 5-6pm (and the park was closing that night at 6pm). We had plans for that evening so we couldn't do the FP and the wait time was 120 minutes! So we didn't get to go on the safari! I had family who went in September & they went on the safari 4 times in one day!!! I was sooo jealous! So I just like to pass along my experience so no one else misses out!

9) Thats great that you are going to Akershus to see Ariel. Since they closed Ariel's Grotto, I'm pretty sure thats the only place you can see her & maybe at one other Character Meal. I'm glad Emma will be able to see her!

10) We are going to Hollywood & Vine just to see Handy Manny too! lol He's been my son's favorite character since he was probably 6 months old, so we HAVE to see Manny this trip! I was so glad to hear he was added to the characters at H&V. My mom tells me that JoJo was my favorite character as a child, so its kinda sad to see her leave the meal...but its ok as long as we can see Manny! ha ha!

11) Illuminations is absolutely beautiful! I think its my favorite fireworks show. Although I have never seen Wishes, so I'm looking forward to that as well!

Please visit my PTR whenever you have time as well. Right now, our dates are December 1-10th but thats subject to change! lol Originally the dates were November 29th through December 8th...so as you can see, I've already changed it once!

Can't wait to read more about your trip!!! Holiday trip planning is fun! :santa:

Made a couple changes

On Mon Dec 6 I changed our breakfast at Kona to Gasparilla Grill @ GF. Eryka only like pancakes not waffles or french toast and they have pancakes on their menu so I thought we should check it out.

Also thanks to photographymom517 I have found out there is a scrapbook store at DTD :banana::banana: I think I walked past it last year cause I was in that area but i didn't notice it. Now I am excited to shop there but not get my CC bill after :scared1:

Here are some of my scrapbook pages from our Dec 09 trip, and since I have some time on my hands I'm gonna try to get a start on the next Disney scrapbook for next year so I will have a start when I get home

So I am thinking for the candlelight processional package I might just go for lunch at Le Cellier and the early show. I hear this one is easier to get and less crowded. Then the kids will be hungry around Illuminations time and I can grab some snacks before we get our spot then they won't feel like they are waiting if they are eating.

My schedule so far (could change any minute)

Hi we are going Dec 1-8, so we have some over lap, we are staying at the BC. Love the way you spell your daughter's name, you can tell her that people mispernounce the traditional spelling also:).

I have heard that Monday is really busy at MK, but a great DHS day and that the 7th will probably be busy with the Pop Warner kids...just some info I have found that might help you.

Pocahontas and her forest friends show isn't playing anymore, she is at Conservation Station, you have to ride the little train to get there, she is one of my daughter's favs along with Ariel:)

What time was your ressie last year on your MVMCP night? I keep going back and forth if I want to do CRT at around 5 that night to make the night extra special or do it our first full day for dinner and then do CS for the party.

Can you post a link to your 2009 Dec trip, I'm not seeing a link in your signiture.

Thanks,
Erika

I really want to stay at the BC, but since I am trying to talk my mom into coming I am staying at the Poly. Next year I AM staying at the BC though:love:

I read on the boards that the Tuesday might be a PW night at MVMCP. I am really going to try to play with my plans this week and move MVMCP to the Sunday

Thanks for the info on the Pocahontas show, I guess I will take that off my list:sad2:

Our ressie last year was at 4:15 at Liberty Tree and we got out of there after 5:30.We hit Tink at the start of the party and were there over 45 min and then we had Dessert party ressies so we were there till well after Wishes. So other than the Castle lighting, we didn't really do anything "party" till after wishes and then Emma fell asleep.
If you had the CRT ressie before 5PM it wouldn't be so bad because you would be done before the actual start of the party, I just went a little overboard with planning last year and wanted to fit in everything.

I separated the TR and PTR link in my signature, they were side by side so they looked the same. It's the Girls Only Trip Report

Thanks for reading and feel free to ask anything, even if it's about the previous trip:thumbsup2

Hi, I followed you over from my PTR, it's great that we are both trying the Poly this year!

I missed a lot of stuff on my first trip too, I think it happens to most of us.

As for MK on the 4th, they might be doing parade taping that day so be prepared for it to be crowded.

I think all of us will be at MK on Monday the 6th :goodvibes, Devon's mom, Oregonmommyof2, and I will be there that day. We should all get a Dole Whip together :rotfl:.

I love the scrapbooking pages I really need to start doing that again. I can't wait to read more!

I know about the parade taping :sad2: but since that is the day we arrive I really wanna make my way there to see the castle... a year is way too long :sad1:
If we get there and it is too crazy we can hop somewhere else or just try to hit a couple rides and then go watch Wishes from the Poly beach, we will see how we feel when we arrive

I would love for us all to meet up for a Dole Whip (especially since I have never had one :rolleyes1) I love that we are all on eachothers PTR's

This was my first scrapbook... my best friend talked me into it and I enjoyed it, so now I have to start gathering stuff for next trip's book

Ok I have played around with my park days because of the nasty rumour that the Pop Warner kids will be at MVMCP on the 7th

I was going to move it to the 5th but that is our first real day and I don't really wanna do the party first so I moved it to the 9th and that makes me move my Epcot WS day to our last night which will kinda be nice to end the trip with the candlelight Processional and Illuminations (and it will make it easier to get my Le Cellier ressie since it is later in the trip!!!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:)

I left the 6th a MK day since so many of us will be there that day:grouphug: it will be nice to maybe meet some fellow Disers!!!

OK here is the schedule (as of today, that doesn't mean it won't change :rolleyes1)

woo hoo- finding all these great DEC 2010 PTR!! subscribed! :goodvibes:thumbsup2

We are there at the EXACT same time. And doing MVMCP on the 9th!!! :santa:

love your plans so far and your kiddos are just too cute!!! Love the scrapbook too- i also love to scrap, but barely find the time anymore (work FT with a 2.5yo!). I too, am completely OCD. I fear, I have passed this onto my son........i caught him straightening up all the books and animals in his crib the other night, everything was in perfect order. He also likes to clean like i do. I've created a monster! hopefully he will continue to also share my passion for WDW!!

and wow, you haev a lot of new things to try that you've missed on prior trips!! this should make for a great time. i see you did the pirates cruise for the kids- how was that? My DS isn't old enough yet, but I'd love to try it in the future- plus I LOVE Peter Pan.

I am still working with our schedule too, but as we get closer, maybe we will end up in the same parks on certain days. We are staying at BLT.

Anyhow- loving the planning!!! can't wait to see more and will be checking back all the time. My PTR is in my sig. :santa::thumbsup2:wizard:

Make sure you let me know if we have other matching days and maybe we can meet up. The pirate cruise was a blast even for adults and my girls want to do Pirates League this trip because they loved it so much.

Make sure you let me know if we have other matching days and maybe we can meet up. The pirate cruise was a blast even for adults and my girls want to do Pirates League this trip because they loved it so much.

My Emma is OCD even more than me (she eats donuts with a fork :confused3 ) I don't think w can stop it.

I am glad you joined!!!!Very cool- i'll definitely let you know. From what we have seen so far, it looks pretty amazing. I've been looking at a ton of photos. to be honest, it is not really our style (we are more traditional in our taste- more like AKL), but we like the location, monorail access, views and access to restaurants in the resorts we like. The price per point was higher than AKL of course, but the annual maintenance fees are lower, so in the end over the long term, they really equal out. We just decided AKL was too far for us and we preferred the location of BLT. Plus the Top of the World lounge is a nice bonus and the pool is great too. Plus we will be spending lots of time at the MK in the coming years with our little one.

lol at eating a donut with a fork. at least i know i am not alone! :confused3:lmao::rotfl:

yes, we will definitely keep our schedules in check for a possible meet up too. :wizard:

We stayed at the Contemporary last year and nothing beats the convenience of that resort. I really want to buy there too but I have to get a job first now that I am done school.
I like the style of BLT, to me it looks really clean which is very good for my OCD!!!:rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

So I am trying to decide if I want to make t-shirts for our trip. I got some great DISigns over on the DISign boards and I am thinking about doing iron on transfers. I know I can get shirts fro $4 at walmart and they have the iron on transfer paper too.

Has anyone made shirts before? was it easy and did the kids like them(if you made them for kids, I know I will make some for me too!)

so last year I took a Heys travel mate bag to WDW and although it held my stuff it had a lot of pockets and I always found myself looking through pockets. Some of the time I ended up bringing my purse and I really hate to do that.

This year I wasn't sure what I was going to do until the other day when I was at the mall and I found a tote bag that I absolutely love!!!

I know a tote bag seems weird for WDW but I really like totes and this one seems perfect

YES!!! I think you should make them! :goodvibes

Sorry, I don't mean to sound bossy! LOL I wasn't sure if I wanted to make them either, especially after I found 3 local stores that had really, really good sales on Disney tshirts & shorts for my son. BUT I ended up getting plain tshirts & started making them. I also got some shirts for myself.

If you look on my PTR, there's a post about the shirts. I got my shirts at Kohls & spent anywhere from $3-6 for them I think. My PTR has the exact prices of each. I then went to Hobby Lobby and found my son tshirts for $1.50 each! I thought they'd be crappy quality, but they are actually pretty heavy duty (so far anyway). They were originally $2.99 each but I got them 50% off. My shirts are mostly spaghetti strap or tanks but I picked up a few tshirts as well.

You can find plain tshirts at any craft store (Michaels, JoAnn Fabrics, Hobby Lobby, etc) and usually at stores like Walmart, Kmart, Kohls, Target, etc. The craft stores usually have cheaper prices, but sometimes the quality is better at other stores. :confused3

I got my transfer papers from AmyMickey. I guess they aren't allowed to post the link on DIS because of the rules, but if you PM me, I can give you her website & contact info! I've used different brands of transfers over the years & I can tell you, I am sooo glad someone on DIS mentioned hers. They are the best I've ever used. You can also use each sheet more than 1 time which is really nice.

In addition to the tshirts, I also made my son a tote bag (his carry-on for on the plane) as well as some trip items for some friends of mine. Make sure you use the "cotton" setting even if the material isn't cotton. My tote bag was made of some type of thin material so I was afraid it would burn on the cotton setting, but the decal wouldn't transfer unless the iron was on "cotton". (just a little advice! I always learn the hard way! lol)

My son is only 2 years old & he gets excited whenever he sees me making the shirts! He says "Wow" or "oooh!" and smiles! :goodvibes I also made them for friends of mine who have older children (ages 5-9) and they were all super excited to see their favorite Disney characters! And they were even more excited whenever I let them see the DISigns on the Internet & then let them help me print them & iron them on! It was great to include them in the process. I think it made them appreciate the shirts more than something I'd just pick up at the store! IMO, I actually like the DISigns I got on here better than what they have at the stores anyway...plus they are extra special since they are unique!!!

I would definitely make them! Its fun & the kids love them! Hope that helps!

I definitely like how the middle compartment zippers as well as the entire tote! I don't think a tote is weird for WDW, I just think you need to take whatever works best for you & your organization style! I'm planning to take my Vera tote with me as well, although I really like that yours zippers! As I said before, mine only has a toggle closure & I'm afraid of everything falling out everywhere. Good choice on the bag! :thumbsup2

Thanks I think I will make them especially since I have some cute MVMCP designs that are great for the kids

The middle zipper compartment was the thing that sold me on the bag, plus it's also a washable material so I don't have to worry about spills

Hi there! We are going to be at Disney World the exact same dates as you, and are also doing MVMCP on Dec. 9th! :yay: Loving your PTR...thinking I should start one, I may do that in the next few days! I just wanted to say we are doing t-shirts, and if you decide to do them you can order online from Shirt Champ (if you google them you'll find them. The addy is the name :) Anyway, they have the best prices I've found...kids shirts start at $1.50 each. We are making them for 12 people for 5 days (and possibly a different shirt for MVMCP dependingon how my yard sale goes - all of the proceeds from that are what I am using to make the shirts :goodvibes), so for us I really had to find a really good price to make it do-able!

I don't want to make the shirts now, especially since Emma has decided to eat her body weight in food a day so I think she's going through a growth spurt. So I will wait till Oct Nov to make them.

Hey there everyone. I have been checking out flights for my trip and I have always flown out of Toronto but the taxes are soooooo high in Canada that I am thinking about driving to Buffalo and flying from there. I was wondering if anyone has opinions on the following airlines:

Airtran
Southwest
Jetblue

I have never used any of them so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Natalie

mrsksomeday
05-27-2010, 07:51 PM
Great stuff from the DISigns board. The Canadian stuff is too cute!

The only airline we have flown is Southwest, you get 2 checked bags free. It is cheaper for us usually and if you have to change or cancel your flights there are not cancellation/change fees. They will just give you a credit to use within one year of the date of purchase. I also haven't ever had a flight time change with them either. They are not as fancy, the seats might not be as comfortable, but for getting us there safely with great flight attendants, and not costing an arm and a leg, we will continue to use them.

Tinkermom76

Southwest is what I am leaning towards since I don't usually hear too many complaints about them. When do they usually have the lowest fares, right before the flight or a long time before?

OK 10 days till I make my ADR's and now I don't know what to do. On Dec 5 we have play and Dine for Breakfast at DHS, we are doing MVMCP that night and right now I have a QS where ever we feel like eating. I am considering adding Crystal Palace for 430 as an early dinner. We have only had breakfast there before, what is the Dinner like?

This would have to be a pay out of pocket dinner but would leave a QS available in case I get a later flight out on the 11th which is what I'm hoping for

I don't know what to do:confused3

OK now I am thinking the Plaza instead since my kids aren't big Winnie the Pooh fans

Has anyone eaten here before?

Hi my name is Ty, I was just surfing for Dec 2010 PTR's and found yours. Our dates are very close to eachother, I am going Dec 3-10. My Sept trip has been postponed a year but I couldn't wait that long for Disney, so my friend and I have planned a trip for Dec.

I have gone pretty much the same dates in December for the past 2 years and I have never had any problems or felt it was too crowded with Pop Warner going on.

I am also doing MVMCP on the 5th.

So any way just wanted to introduce myself, let you know you have a new reader and I am subbing your PTR. I havn't started one for my Dec trip yet, just waiting for the right time.

P.S. your kids are cuties.

I have found some of the greatest deals the day the fares come out. The fares for November 6th - January 7th, 2011 come out on June 15th as of right now. I check the website every couple of days just to make sure they haven't moved the release date. We usually buy the first day then I keep up with the "Dings" so if the price turns out lower I would cancel, rebook and then have a credit.

I will be staying at Pop Century.

I think the the first of Dec is a steller time to go crowd wise. I went once in April, it was crowded but still do able. December...you still have lines but it's easier.

readin over your PTR I just want to tell you that the pineapple dole whip is heaven in your mouth.

I have been to Disney 3 times and still haven't done everything I want to and each time I go I add more to the list. I have a list too of things I haven't done, seen eaten etc...etc..., and as long as they keep comin gout with new attractions my list will keep growing.

I will be staying at Pop Century.

I think the the first of Dec is a steller time to go crowd wise. I went once in April, it was crowded but still do able. December...you still have lines but it's easier.

readin over your PTR I just want to tell you that the pineapple dole whip is heaven in your mouth.

I want to stay at Pop so bad... if I don't get a PIN next year it's pop and if I do it's Beach Club

We went last Dec and loved it... I have been in Feb, May, Aug and Dec and I think Dec is the best so far. Next year we are trying Oct

I don't think my list will ever end, thats why we are going in Oct next year cause I wanna do MNSSHP

The Candlelight Processional bothers me because they train us to make the ADR's at 180 days out but don't give us the info (narrators list) to make decisions.

Ya I almost don't even care who the narrator is. I like my plans the way they are and if I had to rework my schedule for a certain narrator I would be pissed. Never mind that I will have all my ADR's made so I really couldn't change my Epcot day now

So frustrating

Slowly going through all the pages since we will be going Dec 7th-14th too! Im super excited. Never been that time of yr. We are staying at Saratoga for a few nights and then heading over to AK :) so here goes.. sorry ahead of time if anyone said all this before me... havent read it all!

Dining plan. we had the dining plan last trip and it was almost too much food, but I was also a newbie on the DP and I really wasn't sure how to use it. I came home with 22 Mickey rice crispy treats:confused3

Hey, just wanted to let you know I'm still here! On the airline question, I vote for Airtran, because you can choose your seat ahead of time. I don't *hate* Southwest, but I also don't like the rush/anxiety of hoping everyone can sit together.

One day though, when I am rich I would love to stay at the Wilderness lodge, for now I am happy to just visit it.

I was at Disney last dec I think the 3rd-11th, I didn't do MVMCP though, I had done it before so I thought it would be ok to skip, I really feel now like I missed out.

With my ADR day approaching I realized it's time to start counting down the trip

Last year I used the Mickey heads from Home Depot

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt175/tinkermom/Misc/countdown.jpg

This year I got sent a countdown chain from Bigkid@Disney so I decided I would make that since it's different

Each chain link has a character and how many days till Disney on it

I see quite a few have done the chain before. The one that was sent to me had 112 and since I'm not that close to the trip (only in my dreams) I added quite a few more.

My DS says it's not the Disney Countdown but the "Mom's gone I'm having a party" countdown :headache:

So my mom loves anything to do with pirates and especially anything that is corny (loves jungle cruise) so I was thinking of doing the Pirates and Pals cruise. Me and the girls did it last year but I told her that we are not doing it again this year. Now that I have convinced her to go with us I am thinking of adding it as a surprise but looking at my schedule there isn't much room... maybe only the first night we are there since it will most likely be parade taping so trying to see fireworks from inside MK would be insane

What do you think?

So yesterday I called Disney and reserved the Sleigh Ride at FW :yay: and I got it for Dec 8 @ 8pm which is when Wishes is scheduled for :woohoo:

Now if you read my TR from last year you will know that me and the girls had this scheduled for our last night at Disney but unfortunately that was a very rainy day and it got canceled (by Disney not me)
I was very sad that it was canceled  since I had been really looking forward to it for the whole trip. Since this will probably be the last time we are going at Christmas for a while I really hope it doesn't get canceled again on us

Hi! Catching up on my subs today! I got all caught up with your PTR. I LOOOOOVE the spreadsheet!!!! I used to have literally 25 different folders at work with spreadsheets in them. :lmao: I was very disappointed when I purchased my new laptop because it doesn't have Excel & the Microsoft Works Spreadsheet program just isn't as good. I hate not having all the features that Excel had. I could probably talk to you about spreadsheets for hours...lol...some people might think we're crazy though if we do that!

I was very impressed by your daily spreadsheet & all of the dining options look great!!! You have alot of really great things planned! I cannot wait until you get back in December & we can all see your pictures! I think I picked up a brochure at our resort last week about the Pirates & Pals Cruise. I will try to find it (its in my HUGE mess of stuff somewhere...still unpacking! lol). If I'm able to find it, I'll give you any info I can from it. It looked really neat but my son is just too young right now to try to plan anything like that. I have lots of great ideas for future trips though, thanks to reading everyone's planning reports! ;)

As far as worrying about the weather, I really wouldn't! We just got back from 10 days at Disney & every evening we'd watch the local news/weather & it would show scattered tstorms or rain for EVERY day. It rained literally for less than 10 minutes one day (and it was the day it said 30% chance of rain...lol). We had absolutely gorgeous weather, despite the weather forecasts! Now, being back in PA, today it showed rain on our local weather station & yes it has been raining all day long! Boy do I miss Florida's weather right about now! :sad1: Florida amazes me because it can be raining at MK and not at AK. Or half the sky will be gray/cloudy and the other half will be bright blue/sunny! Gotta love it!!! Anyway, I will be hoping for excellent weather for your December trip so that none of your plans are ruined for your trip!!! :goodvibes

What part of PA are you from?? We live in Philly! :goodvibes I will say when we were there in Dec 2008. The weather was much warmer then what it was in Philly! :rotfl: It was anywhere from the low 70's to the mid 80's. Some mornings you needed a sweatshirt and at night it did get a bit chilly. One evening walking around DTD we even needed to wear gloves!!! :scared1: I can't wait for our trip to get here!

We went last June for a week and with the humidity it was 100 + degrees every day! We took swim breaks most days and thought that we were going to melt as well. We lucked out and only had a sprinkle the last night that we were there. No storms whatsoever!!

I am looking forward to December!!!

Ooo, have fun at the Cheesecake Factory!! My fav entree is the Crusted Chicken Romano-- soo yummy! The best dessert, IMHO, isn't even cheesecake. It's the Godivo Brownie Sundae-- so delicious!

Sorry I haven't done any updating lately, but I haven't really done anything new for the trip.

This past weekend was the G20 summit in Toronto and let me tell you I have never been more ashamed to live here. The riots and violence that took place was disgusting. Peaceful protest is fine but when hundreds of people show up to do nothing but destroy property and wreak havoc it is disgusting. I have never seen so many police in one place in my life. It was very sad to watch on TV all weekend and I am very glad that it's over

So today is Canada Day here in Canada and the kids and I will be off to a park somewhere to eat really bad food, watch some performers and catch the fireworks.

Yesterday I was reading a TR and my mom was looking and asked what I was looking at, it just happened to be pics of dinner at 'Ohana. She was interested in all the food she saw and asked "where have a reservation there don't we?"

I told her we have a breakfast reservation there and the sad little look on her face  so I asked her if she would like me to try to get a dinner ADR there and she said sure if I can :confused3

So I go on the Disney site and the only night I can fit it in is our arrival night and the only time available is 9:30pm :headache:

Now I have read on here the kids activities stop at 9:30 so I am going to try everyday to get an earlier ADR. Wishes that night is at 10 so it might be nice to see it from 'Ohana. Has anyone eaten there that late? if so what is it like?

We had a 9:45 reservation at Ohana. They did have a parade for the kids, and the ukelele woman walked around and sang. It was a really fun atmosphere! They piped in the Wishes music. A pole partially blocked my view, but I could still see and it was really nice sitting inside to watch it!

Ya I almost don't even care who the narrator is. I like my plans the way they are and if I had to rework my schedule for a certain narrator I would be pissed. Never mind that I will have all my ADR's made so I really couldn't change my Epcot day now

So frustrating :mad:i kow the feeling- i am not going to change my narrator day either.....unless it is absolutely necessary. i have everything worked out on my schedule and like it how it is. right now, i have it for 12/8, which i think is Jodi Benson and i am fine with that. Just hoping to get Le Celler for the package. I have it booked already for another night just in case we don't though.

Hey there Natalie- i've been MIA for a while from you PTR- but am back! Congratulations on your graduation- i know it is a big accomplishment to do while raising 3 kiddos! amazing!

LOVE your ADRs- we are at Le cellier possibly on 12/10 at 7:30. at least i booked an ADR there, but we might try and do LC for the CLP package on that Wednesday instead. So it might change. but if not, we might see you there!:rotfl:

Love your tote bag and your countdown chains/calendar too- so cool!! i might do a countdown for DS when we get a month out. He is 2.5, so he doesn't understand the concept of time and waiting just yet!

Well since my mom was making me add stuff I thought I would make a couple of changes (and I thought I had it how I liked it :confused3)

So I was looking at airfare and to get there in the morning of the 4th the airfare is almost twice as much, so on a whim I looked at the airfare on the 3rd and getting there early evening on the 3rd is cheaper. So the hamster wheel in my head started turning and I thought maybe I can add a night at Pop for the 3rd and just hop on the bus to the Poly the next day. I haven't added it or bought the airfare yet but I'm thinking that will be the plan.

Now if I do add this day then I am going to go to DHS on the 4th instead of the morning of the 5th, this way we can relax on our MVMCP morning and check out the resort, plus we will be back with plenty of time to make our Ohana ressie at 9:30pm :headache:. So I have made a Hollywood and Vine reservation for the 4th as well and will cancel whatever one we don't use.

I have decided to have a plan B in case I can't get LeCellier for CLP on the 10th. I have a LeC ressie that I will keep and I will try for Coral Reef lunch CLP that we will pay OOP for

Things are really starting to come together

Now just so you know I am crazy I want to take the girls next Oct for MNSSHP so I was thinking of upgrading our tickets to AP's. Then I was looking at staying at Pop with dining plan for 10 days and it seemed really inexpensive :rolleyes1 ( maybe cause we keep staying deluxe, but if I am there 10 nights we can go slow:rolleyes1 )

I can do 10 nights at Pop and dining plus a 4 night cruise on the Dream :cloud9: for less than the vacation this Dec will cost:cool1:

I want to do the cruise too!!! One day!!! Yep we leave next month for 6 days!!! Devon and I are taking my brother for his 21st birthday!!! :goodvibes The PTR is mixed in with my december PTR. Figured it be easier that way! :cutie: Check it out... The link is in my signature and I just posted the plans for the trip!!! :woohoo:

You are so lucky to see WWOHP!!!! and very nice that you have the GAD ticket to use for the trip!

So exciting that your 2011 trip is all worked out!! We were set on August for next year, but our August trip this year got pushed to November, so depending how much we like November (and my job situation, which may change), our trip might get pushed back. Nevertheless, I'm still already planning that trip!!

I have never been in Nov but if it is like Dec you will love it!!!

I'm excited to try a different time of year, maybe sometime I will be brave enough to take a summer trip

Yes, I feel very blessed with being able to go 2x this year. But if weren't for the free tickets I got to Universal and the GAD tickets we wouldn't have been able to swing it! Man its amazing how much the tickets run up the total of your vacation. I am now just realizing they are 1/2 the cost!!! :scared1:

Congrats on the trip for next year--fuzzy Disney math at it's best! :rotfl2: You will love the cruise! We have done the Wonder and the Magic, and in 2012 we're doing the Dream for DS's high school graduation.

I know that's why it makes sense for me to upgrade our Dec tix to AP's, then I will also hopefully get an AP rate on the room

I hear ya!!! I was thinking of looking into the AP's for our december trip too now that we have the annual pass to Universal! The issue is is that we are booked with My friend and her son, so unless she does it to we would totally have to rework the entire trip and honestly, I'm all about saving a penny, but I just don't have the energy to deal with that right now!

But I am definitely looking into for our next trip. Did you see they have the payment system now for the AP's?? That's huge!

Don't quote me but I think when you get there you can upgrade just yours after you use them once

I'm not sure if mom will upgrade or not, I told her if she wants to come with us next year she will have to

great plans! love the idea of going in on the 3rd. i swear every trip, we end up adding a day, we start thinking, what if we just came in the night before, so we can get started early the next day? then that extra day turns into a full day. lol :rotfl::confused3

i also like the idea of being able to relax a little more in the am before MVMCP!

we are also going to go back in October and so we are buying APs for the first time too. I am really excited about it. :thumbsup2

Just wanted to pop in and let everyone know that I am sorry I haven't been around the last week or so, but my computer crashed and I am waiting for it to be repaired. I have my mini laptop but it is very small and hard to read the screen sometimes for my old eyes so I don't use it too much.

Me and the girls are off to niagara falls this weekend so I will be posting some great pictures on Sunday or Monday. Hope you all have a great weekend!!!!!

Sorry I haven"t gotten around to uploading any Falls picks yet. We didn't do a lot of tourist types stuff since we have family there and have been more times than I can count. I think we did drive by the falls on Sunday after church on the way to brunch though.

I don't have a lot of trip updates either although I did snag an 'Ohana ressie for 8:20 on Dec 4th which is better than 9:30 so I am very happy with that

Still waiting on the CP packages to be booked then I just gotta find airfare

OH when I was in the Falls I went to the Coach Factory Outlet and got my very first Coach Purse which I have been dying for for a very long time!!!! I love it and I will post a pic of that too

So I re-created my spreadsheets although I am sure that I missed a few things that I am hoping I will remember sometime in the next couple months

So now I will start giving some park plans

I’m actually going to start my plans as if we are arriving on the 3rd even though that is not for sure yet

So I am going to try to get to guest services on the Friday night to get our park tickets from our package a day early but if we are tired and don’t have time then we will get up early, drop our suit cases off at luggage services and head over to the Poly to check in and get our park tickets,
This day is EMH at…..

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt175/tinkermom/Misc/image001.jpg

So I am hoping we can head over around 8 and grab a TSM fastpass then ride standby ( will just get fastpasss if line is long) and make it to

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt175/tinkermom/Misc/Hollywood_and_Vine_sign_at_Disneys_Hollywood_Studi os.jpg

For our 9am reservation. This was Emma’s meal pick since she LOVES Handy Manny

After breakfast hopefully it will be close to time that we can grab another FP for TSM.
After that we will head over to The Little Mermaid

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt175/tinkermom/Misc/18-VoyageortheLitleMermaidAllen2008-072.jpg

Muppets 3D

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt175/tinkermom/Misc/DisneyDay5021.jpg

And Beauty and the Beast (this one we have never seen)

http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt175/tinkermom/Misc/2311355570_c4a33ce0ce_b.jpg

If there is time the kids can play in the Honey I Shrunk the Kids play area. Then I have to get over to starring roles because I am dying to try the Grapefruit Cake and I don’t want to have to go to Brown derby to get it, and I heard Starring Roles has it.

Then we will watch the Parade which we have never seen
After the parade we will head back to The Poly and check in

I figured me or my mom can unpack (probably me, she could live out of a suitcase) so I will get mom to take the girls to the pool to check out the slide!!!!

We will spend the rest of the evening just checking out the resort and taking a million pictures

We have a dinner reservation at 8:40 at Ohana (never eaten here before) This was Eryka’s pick since she loves Stitch ( EDIT this is my mom's pick.... Eryka's breakfast with Stitch is on another day, no Stitch at Dinner)

I am hoping to still be there to see wishes but if not we will head over to the beach to watch it

Maybe this will be our last image in our minds before we drift off to sleep

I highlight the part I want to post and copy paste it into paint. Then I save it as a jpg in my pictures, upload to photobucket and post. Let me know if you have any trouble

I noticed that you said you were going to Ohanas because of Stitch. Is Stitch there for dinner... I thought Lilo and Stitch were only there for breakfast. I might look into changing my breakfast to a dinner there. We were only going because DD and DS love Stitch.

Nope you're right he's only there for breakfast. Eryka picked breakfast and my mom picked dinner. We are eating there twice

Ahhh! Ok. I wanted to make sure because I would have loved to have changed mine to dinner if Lilo and Stitch were there.
