The kids have decided that they would like to go to camp for a week this summer.
Can anyone suggest a week long (reasonably priced) summer camp for girls and boys (10 & 13) ? Obviously they will not be able to stay in the same cabin but would love to be able to do activities together throughout the day?
We live near Peterborough, ON and could drive up to about three hours so maybe Huntsville, Haliburton, Barrie?
For 7 summers we have gone for a "family camp" north of Huntsville (Doe Lake) but I have to work all summer this year and the kids want to try something on their own.
Any suggestions for a safe friendly camp would be really appreciated.
Thank you

I don't know much about sleepover camps but I know that a few of the kids at my dd's dance studio to to camp Kearney. It is owned by the Toronto District School Board and they do outdoor education there during the school year and then have summer camp after school is out. I beleive it is open to all children not just Toronto kids.

My daughter attends Safari Zoo camp at Jungle Cat World. I believe it is not far from Peterborough. She loves it. We drop her off on Sunday and return the next Saturday.

My kids go to this camp. You can get funding if needed as well. The boys love it and ask to go back every year!

I have heard good things about Ontario Pioneer Camp. I am sending my kids this summer, so I don't have any personal feedback yet.

My kids went to Circle Square Ranch in Manitoba which they loved. They have a network of camps across Canada, one of which is Brantford. I'd heartily recommend CS Ranches - my kids went back year after year and loved it!

There is also a Circle Square camp in Arden, which ia about 1.5 hrs east of you, right near Hwy 7. Camp Iawah is also good. They offer different camps different weeks, and they offer a coed camp at some point.
Good luck in your decision.

I used to work in Algonquin Park and they have some really great camps in that area. I worked in fisheries and would always see the camps passing by on their overnight camping trips. The two I remember most is Camp Wendigo and Camp Arowhon.

Another satisfied family and lover of Circle Square Ranch! :thumbsup2 I went to the BC branch as a teen and loved it, My 14yo son has been going to the Halkirk, AB branch for (this will be his 4th summer) and he begs to go back each year! This year he'll be going 3 weeks prior to our Disney Trip, and he's looking forward to it all year, each year! I heartily recommend this camp, it's A +++
