Whoo! Hoo! Just found out about this cruise and signed right up. Cat 11b. We'll drive down, hit Disneyland for a few days, jump on board and be back home in time to make sure the kids don't miss anymore than two days of school!

The Price was not too bad really. $209pp for adults and $169pp for children for Cat 11B. For a weekend getaway... Not too bad. I'd spend almost that much for the Grand Californian for two nights.

Thank you. I got home from work and poked about a bit on the DCL website looking to possible upgrade to a different room, but my wife discouraged me. She's happy as heck to be going just for the quick two night cruise and likes the price as is. Besides, if they have difficulty filling the ship I may be upgraded.

Then they went up from when I looked at them yesterday for a client...prices going up already? Ugh!
I haven't looked to see if the 1 bedrooms are gone.

Hello, I just booked this cruise last night. What a great way to increase my CC level. And the 21st is my birthday too. We will just be going for the weekend, since we are just up the road, so to speak. I also booked an 11B.

Welcome! The 21st is my birthday as well! We will actually be on the ship from Florida but decided to celebrate my birthday onboard.
We were going to do a vow renewal during the PC cruise but changed our minds and splurged on a cabin for this cruise instead.

There are still 1 bedrooms available.. I know when I tried to book a client on a CAT 11 last night - some of the Cats were already GTY. They wanted to be mid-ship so we went up a little in price but still a great deal for them.

Anyone considering the California 2-day cruise to nowhere on the Wonder Jan 21-23 2011? Is it worth the cost? The inside cabins start at $439 for two pp. It may be a short/expensive trip but I spend that much on a weekend trip to DL. You can find it on the DCL website under Mexican Riveria-January 2011.
My DD and I are booked on the July 5th Dream and thought this might me a great way to test the waters so to speak since it will be her first cruise.

Way Cool! I've heard from those who have been in this type of room that it feels roomier than the standard Cat11B. (Lots of friends swear by this!)

I may be! When did this show up? I just saw that the onboard time is 4:00 on Friday. Do you think we will board around 11:00 like from Florida to have the day on the boat? As a California family, this may be a great option!

I am sailing the north bound repo and our itinerary says guests on board at 4pm, I believe that is for sailing at 5pm. I think the port does not open as early there as it does in FL, however, now that the Wonder will be in CA as a home port, DCL my get a dedicated building and be able to accomodate guests differently than last time they had a ship there. She will be fresh out of dry dock, all clean and spiffy! Could be fun, surely no swimming as it will be dang cold in the pacific.

I spoke to someone at DCL today and she guessed that boarding would be at 1:00, just like in Florida. Now we all know they board earlier than that there, but I guess it would be safe to assume that we could board for this cruise by 1.
When does she go into dry dock? Please remind me of how long she is contracted to the west coast. Thanks!

Where did you get this drydock info? The Wonder's last scheduled drydock was last Fall and there is a two week gap between the Alaska cruises and returning to LA in 2011 - which there is speculation of a drydock in Canada.

I'm really excited for this cruise! My husband and I have never been on a cruise before, and we just booked this one! This is a perfect opportunity to test out cruising before we commit to a longer/more expensive trip! I would really appreciate any info on Disney Cruises, because we know nothing!

Dang if I am not confused! I thought it was going to be following the AK-CA repo! LOL, I am an idiot.

Dry dock is following the last Alaskan cruise. Once that is done, there is a 5 night cruise back to California.
Dry dock will most likey be in Canada, because the southbound repo sails from Vancouver.

You're right about spending that much in DL! Food is crazy expensive. I figure that my family of four would spend as much for two nights at the Grand Cali. and then having to spend more on food! I'm jazzed about this cruise. I got ahold of a sideways 11B.

Thanks for checking on that. I figured that from Disneyland taking the LA Freeways I'll need to leave Anaheim pretty early to make the 1pm boarding.

It only takes about 40 minutes to get from Disneyland to the port. Maybe a little more with traffic but you won't have to leave too early. In fact, I wouldn't leave too early that way you avoid morning traffic.
B9erSteve
04-15-2010, 06:28 PM
Last week I spent about 2 hours getting from Anaheim to Universal due to traffic. So I've soured a bit on LA traffic. I was thinking about plotting some off freeway routes. What's the best Fwy to take for that route. (I learned from delivering pizzas in my youth that the most direct route is often not the fastest route.)

I really really really hope that a lot of the PCers will get off and not try to do B2B, bumping us out of our coveted Sideways 11s. I have the same room on this cruise as I do on the Ca to CA repo in April. I couldn't believe the price for 2, less than 500. No transfers, I will drive over.
Although if someone really wants to stay put in my chosen and paid for room, DCL can always give me a sweet upgrade.
It is very popular, my TA said they booked at least 4 yesterday as soon as it was announced and after I booked, all Cat 11Cs were gone.

I'm not familiar with the port location (though I will be by January 2011!) but I can almost assure it will take half the time....Universal is a tricky destination because there really is no way to avoid the downtown LA/Hollywood traffic. From Anaheim to the port, I think you would take the 22 east/north to the 405 north. shouldn't take more than an hour, especially if you wait until 10 or so, after the morning rush. Let's hope for early boarding!

Isn't that 2 small portholes?
I was going to GTY, but then for 29 bucks more, I got my favorite cabin, so it was a no brainer. For 2 nights, I do not need to have a window, a balcony or a split bath.
Just DOD and hopefully some calm seas.

I was surprised at that too. But, I wasn't going to let it get it my way. I was really jazzed to get back on a Disney Ship for a reasonable price. And the fact that it will be two cruises in year for me is even better.

If you are anywere near Disneyland, and keep in mind I have lived in L.A. my whole life (I am 35) you would want to take the 5 north to the 91 west to the 110 south. That will take you right to the World cruise center. Also their is a carpool on the 5 and 91. SO if you have 2 or more in the car use this lane.

I have a room on hold for this cruise, but I think I'll let it go. Since we'll only be sailing out of CA that first night and day, the weather in the winter is ALWAYS cold, and probably rainy. I decided it wouldn't be worth it to be stuck indoors and bundled up the whole time.
So lucky for someone else....they'll be able to fill my space!:thumbsup2

Bingo! I lived in Wilmington, CA half my life and worked at DL when I lived there. This is the best way. Also, my niece now lives in Wilmington and works at DCA and she says nothing has changed. You can also take the 91 to the 710 to the 405 and shimmy through Wilmington, but I wouldn't suggest that unless you know the area well. (But it works if the freeways are clogged for a Sig Alert.)

Wow! I never thought of it before, but This small cruise could almost pay for itself for some people!
Here's my thinking:
2ppl in Inside Cabin costs $418+taxes
Now...
Rebook online Same 2ppl in Oceanview cabin gets 10% discount
$2213 cost 10% of which = $221
PLUS-
$200 OBC
EQUALS= $441
Which is almost the cost of this cruise!
Ingenious!

So If there are any new to Disney Cruisers out there... this small Cruise is a god-send!

Um, actually, the discount isn't that much. You are forgetting that port charges are included in the published fares. So what ever the Port of San Pedro charges needs to come off that number. and the OBC depends on your level of CC membership. For me, I sit at the measly silver level, and with this one being a 2 nighter, we need to see if DCL will give even that. If you can rebook onboard, before the cruise sells out..................... I booked through my favorite TA and got my $25.00 online and my $50.00 Disney Visa OBC, I think I did OK.

I might drop a card to see if I can rebook, but if it means giving up my cabin, nwih am I going to do it. I can't see them giving a big OBC for a 2 night anyway, I think ony Gold & Plat get the $200.00, but you never know. Plus, you have to take the port charges out of the fare before you take the 10% off.

Oh I guess I didn't clarify. I was speaking of savings on rebooking a new cruise while onboard the 2 night cruise. Since I usually only do the 7-nt cruises with my family, I'll often spend $4000 cruise alone. That's a $400 savings on the next cruise add to that the $200 obc that Disney gives for 7-nt cruises and it gives me $600 off my next cruise all for taking a $837 short cruise, effectively costing me only $237 to take this cruise.

Just found out about this cruise yesterday and was able to still book a sideways cabin. We are so excited about this cruise. This is the same weekend we always go to DL and it will cost about the same (if not less). I am hoping they count this as a "cruise" so I can be at the gold level before my Dream cruise. I am also hoping I can rebook the 2nd part of my Dream b2b and get the 10% and OBC.

I was thinking the same too. Since it was such a short cruise I booked an Inside. I never do that. but I've heard rave reviews about the sideways 11's so I wanted to try them. On a 7 day I'd want the split bath but here I'm free to try the inside. tt may look like your thinking is correct. Time will tell. I've been tracking the rooms:
11c is either all booked up and you can only call for GTY status or they're holding them to book the higher cabins first.
Of the 15 Cat10A rooms only two of them remain.
Otherwise there seems to be a lot of rooms available.
FYI if you ever wanted to experience it.... Roy Disney Suite is currently open. At the price of $2779 for two people it is actually affordable for most.

Affordable yes, but for 2 nights I don't think it's worth it. You are not going to have time to enjoy it, IMO.
My TA offered it to me, but I declined,. I think this will sell out, because a lot of SoCalers can get to the port, you don't need a passport as you are not going to Mexico, and for an inside cabin, I think it is pretty much less than where I stayed at DL last week, think about it. You get lunch and dinner, sodas and a show the first day. I paid about 20 dollars for meals on Friday last, the park ticket was about 100 for the day, plus my room was 150. so about 1/2 of the cost of the cruise. If I had a second night in the hotel, another 150, plus breakfast, lunch and dinner and another day of tickets, so add at least another 20 for the extra park day, another 20 for B & L, and then to have a comparable sit down dinner, maybe $40.00 with drinks and tip. Plus the additional water in the parks. Maybe 2 days at DL for one person is more than 2 nights on the ship for 2 people. Even solo in an 11B is cheaper than that! As time goes on, perhaps upgrades will happen, you never know with DCL. I picked my place, I really love that cabin, but I will suffer with a veranda for 2 nights if asked (for free)

I absolutely agree with you. I'll not be shelling out $2800 for the Roy Disney Suite even though I could without a problem. Like you said it's not really worth it. But, that said, there are those who would spend the $$ just to say they stayed there. To each his own.
I'm happy with the Cat 11 that I got. I would have probably upgraded to a 9c for only about $200 more but my wife cut me short. Like you she'll be happy with a free upgrade (from cat 11 we'd go to Cat 9) but doesn't want to pay for it for such a short cruise. (My point was that IF there are upgrades it will be from Cat 9 to Cat 5 and we'd get a verandah for free again. But that's a gamble.)
We just got back from DL ourselves, it was $70 for the four of us to eat a Cafe Orleans. The rest of the meals we did cheaper but still spent $270 on food over a two day period. Got a good price on the room it was $95 so two nights was $190. Add in the park tix and there's another $600. So I spent nearly $1100 in two days. So Cruising for the same amount of time for $837 is not too bad to me.

Does anyone have a guess as to how they will handle the dining rotations?
mickeyfan1
04-17-2010, 01:43 PM
I believe that the dining rotations will be interesting, because everyone will miss one restaurant. They can't put 1/4 of the ship in each room, they are not large enough. Unless they don't sell a lot of the cabins. The description on the site says something out on the first night enjoy dinner at Tritons or Palo, but we all know that Palo won't hold 1/4 of the diners, either. No matter what someone will miss out at Animator's, Triton's, or Parrot Cay. Personally, I can skip Animator's, I've seen it twice and will gladly give my rotation to a virgin. Same with Palo, I can skip it.

I agree, animators is my wife least fav. So I plan on requesting something that will include tritons. Which we've never eaten at (being primarily Magic cruisers)

Kayochan,
Are you planning any future cruises with Disney? Have you sailed with them before?
This will be a good introduction for the uninitiated, but as I pointed out before, if you think that you'll be sailing with Disney in the future, then you can book that cruise while onboard this one. The discounts that you recieve will almost cover the cost of this cruise. (10% off cruise + $200 OBC if you book a 7 night)
You're right it'll be cold, but I bet that I'll not be able to dissuade my children from the Mickey Pool. The'll be swimming for sure. As for me and my wife, well be happy. It's a beautiful ship and I don't mind spending time indoors in it. But, I can also take my iPad out to the deck, bundle up and read a good book. (I haven't done that yet!)

A bad day on a cruise beats a good day on land, almost every time. There are lots of activities to do inside and the cruise staff has "in case of rain" things all the time at the ready. This is the time to get to know the ship and all she has to offer. It will give you a good insight into to that side of cruising. Yes, winter in LA can be cold and rainy, but you will find a lot of people get off the ship and reread that navigators and ask, how did I miss so much? On a normal cruise you are in port most days, and you have excursions, this cruise will be afternoon and evening stuff Friday, all day and night stuff on Saturday and home again Sunday morning. Not a lot of time to do it all, but plenty of time to do a lot. Remember that there is an enclosed observation area above Cove Cafe for adults, too. Somewhere to sit and enjoy the scenery even if it is raining.

I think it is so worth the price. Just look at what a weekend at DL would run with a stay on property. Another plus is that it counts to your CC level. The time off of work is minimal for us since we are just a little over an hour away from port. This will be our first time on the Wonder and a great way to check her out before our Alaska cruise in Aug. And I'm planning on booking a dummy date on board. By then 2012 rates will be out and we may know whats up with Fantasy. :goodvibes

Wow, the more and more I read and think about this it sounds like it would be a fun quick "DCL" fix. We are annual passport holders and love to stay on property, especially the Grand Californian. For two nights, with all the additional costs is always over 1,000.
After getting sunburned in Palm Springs this past week end, I'm okay for enjoying the ship itself instead of worshiping the sun again ;)
We are 45 min. from the port. I would just plan to get there early as possible to get the full advantage of half a day on the ship Friday. I just wish they wouldn't kick us off the ship Sunday morning :) At least when you stay at the hotel you still get the full day at the park.
I'm liking this the more I think about it - :thumbsup2

The Price was not too bad really. $209pp for adults and $169pp for children for Cat 11B. For a weekend getaway... Not too bad. I'd spend almost that much for the Grand Californian for two nights.
EXACTLY! Two nights...sometimes even one night, depending where we have dinner (Napa Rose)..... we spend 1k staying there and we live 30 minutes away. But the experience of staying at the Grand California -- we just love.
So this works for us!

I have no clue as the how they will do the restaurants. I guess they could cycle everyone through a restaurant for lunch on Saturday. That will make sure that everyone can experience all three.
So...
APT rotation has dinner in Animators on Friday, lunch in Parrot Cay on Saturday and dinner in Tritons on Saturday
etc.
I'm just guessing.
As far as entertainment goes... I'm hoping for either something I haven't seen yet (Like Villians) or something more interactive like Pirate Night.

We would come from Tucson on Thursday and stay the night close to the port. Then our 2 night becomes a 3 night trip for just the cost of hotel night.
Ya, it's too bad they can't extend the debarking until noon or so. That would help get in a little extra.

I have heard that the Crown Plaza in San Pedro has a pre-cruise package. I have never stayed there, but my understanding is that if you stay you can leave your car there and they shuttle you to and from the port. Parking at the port is $12.00 per day. Price line or hot wire may also be a way to go to get a reasonable price for a hotel.

Never underestimate the potential for LA traffic to wreck havoc with your plans... a few tips from a local
Study the FWY maps and look for routes with carpool lanes. These have the best chance for success since most drivers are one to a car.
Log on to www.sigalert.com before you hit the road to check for incidents and congestion
If you are not traveling with a traffic enabled GPS think about having a contact who can look up traffic online and reroute you if you end up in a "Sig Alert"
Travel with a map and familiarize yourself with alternate routes in advance.
RUSH HOURS are roughly 6-10 AM and 3-8 PM but it varies by the route.
Try to avoid the 405 FWY between LAX and the 10 FWY.
Try to avoid the 101 FWY
Try to avoid the 5 FWY in Los Angeles County
Plan to average 20-30 MPH for your trip
Allow more time than you think you need so you can relax when you come to a dead stop for no apparent reason.

If they do it at all, it'll have to be limited seating. My guess is that they won't. But if they do. Watch for it when making onboard reservations (like instead of excursions. They'll be a breakfast to sign up for.). Again just a guess.

I don't feel too bad for not taking the kids, because we will be on the 10 night MR in April, of course taking the 3 kids then.
Really a good deal for a weekend fun trip. We have a little longer drive from the Sacramento area 6-7 hours, but should be a piece of cake with no kids in the car.

I thought about doing it sans kids. In the end, I decided it would be too much hassle to explain to the why I didn't take them. So, I'm taking my In-Laws and with any luck it'll be just like not taking them at all!

Hi guys,
I just joined your cruise. It will be me and my husband for a little weekend getaway, coming from the Sacramento area. I was on the Magic for a Western cruise in Oct. 09 with my 6 & 4 year olds and my mother. So this will be my husbands first time on DCL. We are leaving the kids at home because we are all also booked on the 10 night MR on 4/17/11.
I thought this would get my husband acquainted with ship and for the price could not find any other weekend trip we would want to do. Going to Tahoe, San Francisco, or Napa would all cost the same or more. We figure on this trip we can just relax and enjoy the ship and see some movies. We will most likely skip the shows and do those with the kids 3 months later in April. We also took advantage of the $50 Disney Visa credit and the $25 OBC, so $75 to spend for 2 nights is a great deal.
Super excited for this fun little trip. Also was able to grab a sideways 11B on deck 6. For our April MR cruise I snagged 2 connecting SPH rooms. Gotta love the DIS Boards.

joining in from the other thread. so many questions, how will the restaurants work, what will the entertainment be?
My thinking was this will be a bare bones cruise, maybe just one production show and maybe just being in the same dining room both nights...just a guess. I would love the get into Palo but brunch and dinner especially with $75 OBC.

Any good hotels near the port that we can hang out at the night before?
We would come from Tucson on Thursday and stay the night close to the port. Then our 2 night becomes a 3 night trip for just the cost of hotel night.
Ya, it's too bad they can't extend the debarking until noon or so. That would help get in a little extra.
We stayed at the Hyatt Long Beach. Great location (about 10 min away from the port), across the street from Shoreline Village, safe area, and really nice hotel.

My guess is that with so few Palo appts avail, it'll be luck of the draw for that one. I may attempt a brunch but I'll not do dinner. Funny thing, with no excursions and a tight Palo I'll be had pressed to spend that $75. Maybe it'll be on one of the D&B purses for the wife. I ought to get some mileage out of that one.

What is this about a $50 credit if you use your Disney Visa? I have been toying with booking this cruise and an extra $50 would be great.

Yes, you will get a $50 OBC if you use your Disney Visa Card plus the $25 OBC if you book online.

Hey, I just saw the thread about this cruise today, and we too are now booked on this weekend getaway in a sidways 11-B.
This is our second cruise. Last year we did the 4 night in a SPH and had a great time.
Wouldn't have thought we'd be going back so soon, but no complaints.

We were at the port today to watch some friends sail away on their RCCL cruise. Yes..the best way to get there is the 91 west to the 110 south towards San Pedro and then get off on the Vincent Thomas Bridge/Harbor Blvd exit. Stay towards the right to Harbor Blvd and in the middle lane. Cross Harbor into the terminal. Turn right to the parking area. $12 a night.
Today started off as 75 and sunny, but by sailaway it was windy, cloudy, and cold!

I am not sure on the entertainment or restaurant. I would assume it will be pretty bare bones but whatever they have will be just fine with us..we are using the weekend as relaxation before returning to the real world!

I'm so curious about the dining too! At first I thought that it may be bare bones as well..but if they are using this cruise to entice west coasters to hop on a longer one, they will probably want to do it right! I wonder if they will have 3 dining rotations as usual, but each misses out on a different restaurant? We could probably call ahead to request a certain rotation. I know they aren't guaranteed, but my few requests have always been met.
As for a character b.fast....I would LOVE it as we have never been on a 7 night cruise, but just don't see how that would work.....unless it was treated as an excursion as someone mentioned.

Hi everyone - we booked and are in a SPH room - cool!
DH and I are first time cruisers, long time park visitors. I was wondering about everyone's opinions on the dining on the Wonder. Palo doesn't quite look like our style, so I'm not planning on trying to get in there. With only two dinners IF they let us pick, which two would you pick? We think Anaimator's Palatte looks pretty neat, so I think we would pick that one for sure. Can't decide on the other two. If you had to pick just two, which would you pick?
Thanks - LOVE the boards :cheer2:

I would do Tritons (sorry had wrong ship) and Parrot Cay. But no matter where you eat, it's the same menu (unless they have changed it since 2008).

Since this will be your first cruise, IF we are given a choice (I hope!) I would definitely try Animator's. It is fun to see at least once. My other choice would be Triton's. It's fancier than Parrot Cay and it appears that you are traveling without children? I also enjoy the menu there more. With children, I would choose Parrot Cay. I believe that DCL now has the menus on the website. Check them out!

Congrats! And Welcome to the thread! As others have stated, you'll want to experience Animators Pallate if this is your first time. Tritons would be a good second choice. I'm not sure how disney is going to work the dining rooms since the traditional way will mean that everyone will miss out on one dining room. Might be a headache. Since I am cruising with newbies I'll probably be wanting Animators as well. Otherwise, I'd skip it in favor of the other two.
I almost snagged a SPH room. Wife wouldn't let me. Oh Well! I'll be in one in Oct '11

What, they can't just say her fare is X and let you pay in full? Or they can't just take the total of the deposits and apply them to the fare and not worry about individual amounts due?
You know the book keepers are going to be really happy about having to see debits and credits on this cruise, because you can't be the only one. They should have made the deposit 100 per person, this cruise only.

The problem is that our deposits are non-refundable. They have never come across this problem as there has never been a short enough cruise where I guess the fare was lower then $400.00 which is the deposit for the cabin. I am explaining to them that I do not wish to pay a non-refundable $400.00 for a $225.00 fare. They see my point and are trying to figure out what to do about it.
I know I am not alone in this at all so I am sure they have to figure this out for several cabins but you would think it would be easier to figure it out. Although, I have every intention of going on this cruise and obviously the $400.00 go towards the amount in full, I do not want to lose an adiditonal $175.00 should I have to cancel for any reason. Originally, I thought I might have to add a 4th guest to my cabin so the problem would have been compounded by 2 people but since my Sis and Mom now have thier own cabin, it doesn't affect us quite as much.
My cabin hold is expiring today so I am hoping to hear from the powers that be very soon so I can not stress.

We are in a CAT R. We will never be able to afford it again so we thought we would celebrate my birthday in style. There are 3 of us in the cabin...my DD amount is $225.00 as the 3rd person. So our deposit is $1200.00. I do realize that we owe more then $1200 overall but they are stating that I will not get back any part of the $1200.00 should I cancel before final payment. Which I understand but I think a little unfair since I am obviously paying more then her fare. If I have to - I will.... I just wondered.
We were supposed to renew our wedding vows but the price went up $1000.00 since we did it in 2008 so we opted to splurge on a suite instead for this 2-night and celebrate my birthday. It is costing us almost the same amount for our cabin as the vow renewal. This was our honeymoon ship so we wanted to renew our wedding vows on it but the cost went from $1500.00to $2500.00 for the same thing we got in 2008 (We did the Magic - not realizing that we would have a chance to do a PC on the Wonder). We thought we would enjoy ourselves more with the cabin.

I've been like that everyday since booking this cruise. I'm not sure why. It's really not a long cruise. I guess it's because I percieve that I got a good deal and it was a decision made on an impuse. (I've always been envious of those Floridians who could at the last minute make a decision on a cruise, while I had to plan flights and hotels etc or settle on Carnival for the same kind of deal.)

I now what you mean..I am looking forward to having a ship here for those (hopefully!) last minute deals..not caring that the ship is going to Mexico or not but just getting a good deal and getting on the ship!
My DH is a CM and I know he always gets emails on "last minute deals" for CM but we can never go because we have to consider flights etc...now hopefully we can take advantage of it in the future here.

Ahhh, I see. Well, the deposit, while no refundable is transferable to a future cruise in a suite category, and perhaps in a non suite. Even in a non suite, I think the 3rd and 4th person would be less in a cat 11 than the deposit.

I thought it was transferable but the DL rep I spoke with when I called in to book the cabin told me it wasn't. I will inquire with the Manager who is working on this. I did not realize what the 3rd/4th person cost in the CAT 11 as the cabins I booked only contained 2 guests but it must be causing the same issue - less then $200.00.
I will most likely end up paying it and that's ok...because I intend on taking this cruise. I would hope it would be transferable to a non-suite though as we have not ever traveled in a suite and can not see doing it again in the future.
Thanks for the info - I will check with the Manager. If it transfers to a non-suite..I will just pay it and be done.

Me too! I had always wanted to take just my girls on a trip for the weekend. Seemed so easy for the east coast folk! DH is not a fan like me, so for us to make our two trips to Florida to sail was always a huge event. I may just never get him back on DCL so this is just so exciting for me! I'm a late riser but just may get up with sun each morning just to maximize my time! :yay:

I agree, we are super excited about this cruise too. I just cause it was so unexpected. Plus it means I won't have to go 3 full years between Disney cruises.

I just spoke with a Manager...they have put another hold on my cabin and said that they have not been able to figure this out.I offered to remove my DD for the time being and pay the deposit but he said he would prefer to keep holding the cabin.
The deposit is transferable to another cruise for any stateroom but it remains non-refundable forever. It also has to be done prior to the final payment date. I am fine with that but they don't want to deposit yet so we shall wait.

Same name on LP - stitch4336. DH and I were at the LP Club 33 meet July 2008 and met a bunch of great folks there. I wish we could make it to more meets - but work keeps us pretty busy. I'm trying to stay more involved on the boards now too - when the boss or my staff aren't looking (hehe) Totally looking forward to this quick getaway on the Wonder - our first ever Disney cruise - YAY!

Well, I just priced out a Cat 11B 2 A , 2 C the 3rd and 4th PAX far is $169.99, so for 4 people, after paying $200 per person deposit, the remainder of the fare is $38. I think your only issue is the non reundable deposit. DCL slipped up with this one. At least they are not releasing the hold. Good Luck. And if it doesn't wok, comne slum with us in the sideways 11B Club.

It seems like regardless of the category - they shouldn't be able to charge more then the cost of the fare...it's really not a problem..since it is transferable, I will just pay the $1200.00 and be done with it. It's not like I won't ever be going on another Disney cruise.
I still want to be an honorary member of the CAT 11B sideways club! And although I am not sure if anyone is interested, if you wanted to check out the suite.. you are more then welcome to. This really is a splurge for us.

It is under the Mexican Riviera. It is the only one atthe moment as it is arriving in Los Angeles from the repositioning cruise from Florida. The first Mexico cruise leaves on Sunday the 23rd.

Yes, my undertanding is it is a special January only special because they needed to move the ship out of the port for some reason - so they just made a mini cruise out of the move :) I had trouble finding it on the DCL website too! Search for Mexico - Jan-11 and it will come up.

Do any of the travel companies offer on board credit incentives for this cruise?
ALso, what about if I put it on my Disney Visa? Will I get the $50 onboard credit?
Trying to squeeze every last discount/credit out of this that I can.:goodvibes
I know our agency did not recieve any specials for this cruise but individually we can offer something if we choose. Dreams Unlimited may be offering something.
You should recieve your credit for using your Disney Visa no problem. there is also a $25.00 OBC just for booking the cabin.

Of course, I'm still upset that we didn't hear about the cruise until all the SPH rooms were gone! In fact, Zoom managed to snag the exact same SPH room that I had during my Bahama's cruise last May! Enjoy it -- it was an excellent room. *grin*

I had some time and was checking on the availability on this sailing. If I have my facts right, then here's my run down:
Cat 11C just got listed online for GTY status. It wasn't available at all earlier when I checked
Cat 11B: Sideways cabins are gone. only offered cabin on Deck 6 was 6143 which makes me think that Deck 6 cat 11b's are gone leaving only the 22 or so cabins on Deck 5.
Cat 11A: Wide Open
Cat 10C: only 7 Cabins listed for Deck 7 and Deck 6 is wide open.
Cat 10B: wide open
Cat 10A: only 1 cabin remains 7001.
Cat 9D: There are only 25 of these rooms and I think they're wide open.
Cat 9C: Wide Open
Cat 9B: Wide Open
Cat 9A: Wide Open
Cat 7A: Only 30 of these rooms and I think that most remain
Cat 6A: Only 32 of these rooms. Only 3 left on Deck7 and I'll bet the large verandah rooms on Deck 6 are gone so that maybe only about 15 of these remain.
Cat 5C: Wide Open
Cat 5B: Wide Open (although there is only 1 Deck 7 aft cabin left and they are now booking midship Deck 6. I'm not sure if that means that they'll book up midship Deck 6 first then move onto Fore Deck 7 or if Fore Deck 7 is booked.
Cat 5A: Wide Open
Cat 4E: Only 3 remain.
Cat 4B: Wide Open
Cat 4A: Wide Open
Cat T: Wide Open
Cat S: only 8516 remains
Cat R: Booked.

We did the stateroom tour on the canal home to FL in 2005 on the Magic. We saw all the Categories, well, I missed Cat 3 I think because we did them by deck. But everyone was quite impresses with Cabin 6125. Obviously I was as I have it reserved for this trip and the Ca to CA Repo in April. Many people in my group in 2005 used the same T/A and he was booked in a Cat 1, Roy Disney was in the other. We were all ivited to the suite for a meet and greet. An amazing amout of room.

tink1963 - just wondering if you are the same tink1963 I met in DL in 2008? It was for the LP Club 33 meet. If you are the same - HEY AGAIN!!!! If you aren't, then I hope to meet you on the cruise!! :cool1:
Sorry it took a while to answer you, had a tough time finding the post again, guess we got merged with the thread on the main cruise board. Anyway, I don't think that is me. But now I'm wondering who this other tink1963 might be. :confused3 Is LP Laughing Place? I know I was registered on their boards and that would have been what I used, and I know that I would have remember a Club 33 meet.
Anywho, cant wait for this crusie. I'm so excited to now have a cruise that is not more the a year away.

Funny you should say that. Late last week I got a pamphlet from DCL and I assumed that it was for this cruise since it is only 9mos away but instead it was for my other cruise that is 18 mos away. I'm hoping to get more info soon too. I'm really hoping that since this is such a short cruise, they'll try to make it worth our while and do something special.

I noticed that that thread disappeared. So much the better, I've got the cruise thread for Oct 2011 (which is not nearly as active as this one) and two Jan 2011 threads (both very active) and I was having trouble remembering what I said from thread to thread.

True Romance, where are you in northern CA? I'm in Vacaville.
I'm in Lincoln. We are right next to Rocklin. I grew up in San Jose and know Vacaville well. We love going to the Nut Tree, it is cute since they rebuilt it. I know it closed again though, not sure if it has reopened.
My family and I are big theme park/Disneyland fans. My husband and I met and both worked at Great America for many years. I was fortunate enough to work at Disneyland for a summer (1997) in their College Program. We usually go to DL once or twice a year. This June we are also hitting up SeaWorld and Legoland. I love to travel and am so excited that my youngest is turning 2 May 1st. Just one year closer to him being able to go in the club on the ships. We will be on the MR cruise one year from now and if all goes well with potty training he will be able to enjoy the clubs and my husband and I enjoy some time too. I took my two oldest (4 & 6 at the time) on the Magic in Oct. and they never wanted to leave the clubs. They missed dinner a couple of nights because they would not leave.
I have not told them we are going without them in Jan. yet.

Mickeyfan1,
Remlap and I are in a GTY room on category 11C since we gave up room 6003. So we won't know which room we are in until closer to the cruise... but we are definitely going! :)
We live right in the Long Beach area, so this will be a nice quick trip for us.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on the cruise! :)
BTW, True Romance... glad you got the room we gave up!
Haha!!! i think i should start on SPH roll call, so we can also be special like the 11B sideways...:rotfl:

We absolutely loved it! It was really cool having a "window" for the price of an inside room. And as I remember, there really wasn't all that much of an obstruction in our view. Nice quiet location, too.

Zoom, you are such a poser!
LOL! We can have sub groups,! GTYs, check, Sideways', check, SPHs, Check. Verandas, check. We even have the Cat R suite represented.
For such a quick cruise, there are a lot of responses.
skier - maybe if you are lucky you will get some pixie dust and end up with an upgrade. I did on the 3 night next month, went form a 12 GTY to a 9 large porthole.
Rob, ya i saw some pics and i agree there wasn't much obstruction compared to the other SPH rooms...:cool1::cool1:

Ok...I'm back for an official good morning!
Just got back from the vets office..we are fostering a trio of puppies for a no kill rescue and it was time for them to be spayed and neutered so I dropped them off this morning.
So quiet in the house without the puppy chorus this morning.
This sounds like such a fun group...I'm sorry it's for such a short cruise! If any of the locals want to meet up - it would be fun. It doesn't have to be at Disneyland...we could pick a general spot and meet for dinner or something.

Yes LP is Laughing Place. I'm probably mistaken on the screen name - it was 2008 and they say the first thing to go is your memory, and the second thing is....uh.....um.....

Nope, Not the Dream. I tried to convince the group that I'm going with to go on the Dream but they've all set their hearts on 7nt cruise. So, I'll be back onboard the Magic for a third time.

A mini Meet sounds like a great idea. :thumbsup2 Dinner sounds great. We would be up for what ever.:goodvibes
We are just north of LA and try to go to the park about once a month.
I have to say some of my bestest friends have been people we have met here on the dis and have cruised with. We were on the WBPC in 08 and even though it was only a few years ago, I met my BFF on that cruise, well actually before the cruise, through the boards and Dis meets.

This is sizing up to be a fun group. The last two DCL cruises I have been on had very active cruise boards. In fact many of us that met for the first cruise returned together for a second cruise. (I understand that a lot of them are also meeting up again for B2B on the Dream, I wish I could make that!)

Oh sorry, just noticed that on your ticker. I really had my heart set on a 7 night too but wanted to go on the Dream more, so we are just doing a back 2 back. I know one day will be at the port but we'll just treat it like another sea day and have the quiet cove pool all to ourselves for a little while.

Same here, I have meet 6 incredible women on here. We cruised with our entire families in 2007 and 2008 and have done 2 girls only weekends in New Orleans and are all getting together this summer in Gatlinburg, TN. I love telling people we meet on the internet
I will be in DL this weekend and we have a wedding in Laguna in June. I would love to get together before the cruise.

Been to Lincoln, and Rocklin many times! My oldest DD is on a traveling soccer team and all of her games are up that way.
What sailing were you on in October? We were on the Western the first week of October. We will be doing a b2b on the Dream the same week in 2011. then we might do the MR. It sounds like it will be just you and your spouse on the 2 day cruise?
The Nut Tree has opened back up, but it's a scaled down version (of the rides). There a LOTS more shops and restraunts there now.

We were on the 10/17/2009 Western, it rained most of the trip. Yep, just me and my husband on the 2day. We thought it would be a fun getaway for just the two of us and cheaper then any other weekend trip we could think of.
We used to love the restaurant Tossed that was near the Nut Tree, always would stop there on our way to SF. However sadly it closed.
