Nikon 85mm f/1.8 [Archive] - The DIS Discussion Forums

Anyone have an opinion on the Nikon 85mm f/1.8?
I found a used one and they are asking $340, which is about $100 less than brand new. I'm seriously considering it, but wanted to hear any opinions pro or con. Thanks!

I had one for a while- it's a nice lens. You will of course get negative comments on Nikon forums from the 85/1.4 crowd though.

I have one and think it's great! Sure, it isn't the 1.4 but the focal length is nice for portraits, it's sharp, the bokeh at 1.8 is nice and shallow. I paid about 300 for a used copy and am really happy with it. On the occassion I need a longer lens and don't want to bring the 70-200, it's great to have.
