Lens problem?

if I have a sony a230 can I use this lens?
75-300 F4.5-5.6 VIVITAR MACRO MD

Not without an adaptor. The MD means it's manual focus and Minolta changed it's mount when it went to the autofocus.

hey... I have the 230 also, not sure of what kind of mount you need... but some place you want to check out is FLIKR. com and join the sony alpha threads... there are over 10,000 sony alpha users on there with tons and tons of advice, plus its a good place to store your photos....

The adaptors to use the MD mounts are not that common and with most- if not all - you will have metering issues. I've never gotten one even though I do have a couple Minolta MD lenses. I imagine you could find them on ebay but it's not something I would really recommend unless you already had a special old lens you wanted to use.

this is the most active group around... over 10,000 members strong..

you can also click on groups, then search for sony alpha...there is also a 230/330 group also... its just not as active as this one is...
