When I first moved to Orlando, everyone told me I had to go to Goodings. And they were right, it was by far the best super market experience in the area. But still, it lacked something. That something was customers. The prices at Goodings were also the highest in the area.
One by one each location closed down for one reason or another. Even the brand new one that was the only location for Celebration. Now, word comes that the last location is behind on its rent and will likely be evicted soon.
Goodings at the Crossroads, which is right across the street from the Downtown Disney hotels, is the closest grocery store to Walt Disney World. When it closes that honor will go to the Publix near the Gaylord Palms and HWY-192. There’s also a Publics in the Williamsburg area, which is just past SeaWorld on the Central Florida Parkway. If you want to go a little further there area also a couple of nearby Super Walmarts.
When you visit Walt Disney World, do you visit a super market to stock up on supplies? What hints do you have that might help others who want to do the same.

McDonald's own fault.....IMO, they were dumb to not be apart of the Dining Plan.

The McDonald's in Crossroads is closing?
Or are you referring to the Marketplace location?

Marketplace is indeed closing (if not already; I forget the last day but it should be searchable in a thread here somewhere).

Thanks. I just googled it. That sucks. My DD liked eating there when her mom had to go shopping. We'd go get a burger and fries and let my wife go do the shopping...

Long time coming. Goodings was a nice chain 20 years ago when I first started visiting, but it went downhill fast. The last remaining Crossroads location was famous among locals for being just filthy and ridicuously overpriced.
With Jungle Jims still empty, this will mean two gaping holes in Crossroads. No wonder no one's lining up to get in on Flamingo Crossing.

This article doesnt mention the Winn Dixie that is just a few blocks down 435 from Crossroads.

Have you seen the prices in that Winn Dixie! I think they wanted something like $5 for a package of Oreos! I about died over that price... and no we didn't get the oreos. We went to the super Walmart or we will stop at the Publix on the way in! Prices are much better!!

Yeah, we've generally been warned away from Goodings from day 1. We've been to the Winn Dixie a couple times, and its nice but small. Last trip we went to the Publix on 192 across from the new SuperTarget by the entrance to the Orange Lake Resort, which might be the closest for AKL guests...it was nice and big.

We've certainly been in that Goodings a few times over the years, but we''ve been going to Publix for the past several trips.:earsboy:

In January, the shelves looked kind of empty and it was run down. The fountain at the entrance that I always found kind of cool was drained too.
I also agree about the prices, I know you are in a tourist area but they went overboard. I'd rather go to a SuperTarget.

We go to the Whole Foods Market. Best supermarket in the Orlando area. :surfweb:

I went to goodings about 8 years ago. the meat looked aweful, could not find a dozen eggs without some being cracked and it was dirty and wicked expensive. Dont mind the drive to Wall mart or Winn Dixie.

We've been going to Publix for years, and recently started running over to WalMart too. If you've got your car it's not a big deal, and it's so nice to get a salad and some fruit without breaking the bank!

I ordered my groceries online from Garden Grocer (or something like that) before we left for our trip. $12 delivery charge right to our resort. Guy called me on my cell to make sure he didn't get there too soon before we did so our cold items didn't warm too much. I am definitely doing this again - no vacation time wasted in the grocery store!
