Superb Rental Car Rates

For anyone looking for inexpensive rental car rates in the fall:

I've been following rates all summer awaiting can't-miss deals and seem to have found them today. For September 20-26,

Payless Rental weekly rate: $80.86. Note: to get this rate you must click through their "internet special" link, which is:

Total with tax and fees for the six day period, $108.77. this constitutes a pre-tax cost of $13.48 per day.

L&M is offering a better rate at $74.95 per week, or $12.49 per day. However, with addional fees for being in-terminal, total cost is $118.52. Being cheap, we figure ten bucks is ten bucks. However, a small price to pay for in-terminal.

Pat--Do a search on these boards. LM has a history of refusing to honor reserved rates when people go to pick up their cars.

Can't tell you how much I appreciate the information. I've used Payless several times and had no problems, we'll stick with them.

Can't believe LM wouldn't honor verified rates. Guess that's why I'm going to Disney twice a year at age 40. I dream a lot.

I also used the code ENTERTAIN (thanks, mousesavers) to reserve a car for $99/week with Dollar, which has an In-terminal counter. This was $60 less than my previous reservation!

vmlr which i think is the licence recovery fee 18.83 for the week when most charge 50 cents or under per day for the same thing

surcharge is the 2.05 ....tire and battery tax

ford focus..... 299$

ford mustang standard 137$

ford taurus 153$

so the 108 total must be for a compact or less.....like geo metro or ford aspire or ford escort 95$ to 102$ but if you want a 4door economy ......279$

and maybe time sensitive although the fine print on that page says up until december 15, 2002

they seem to have a range even within their car classes....

The $108 was for a compact. That's all I was looking for. There was a pretty horrific jump after that.

This was for an economy car, which is what we used last time we were there (but with 4 people, rather than 3 this time). Here's the details: we are going for 15 days & our extra day is $26, which bumps the totals a little higher....I think with taxes etc, it would work out to be about $130-40 a week for just the week.
