OK so...I took my friend who had NEVER been to any Disney park, We were there from Feb 4-10th. Even though we had really cold weather a couple of days of rain NOTHING "damped" her spirits :thumbsup2 We have palnned to go every other year or more if budget allows!! She got totally sprinkled with pixie dust and was bitten by the Disney bug!!!!Now I don't have to drag DH with me he says to go with Emmy and have fun!!:cool1:

That's great your friend loved WDW. But is it concerning to you DH would rather you go on vacation with your friend than with him?

That's great, its wonderful to have a friend who you can share the magic with. I love meeting people who are magicaholics, you always have something to talk about.

My DH and I have been married for 25 years (been together 5 years before that) and even AT Disney World we will split up. He hates Lion King (can you imagine living with such a person?) and will go do DinoLand (which I hate, perfectly normal ;)) while I see the show.
Same thing for MK - he loves Big Thunder and rides while I go visit the Tiki Birds.

So no, if the OP's DH doesn't have fun at Disney, and he's OK with her taking a friend instead, I say more power to them all!

I'm not trying to go too off topic, but I think there's a major difference in saying you and your spouse may not like all of the same attractions and taking a completely seperate vacation...IMHO

I don't think that's so odd. My husband does NOT love Disney. We go on family vacations, but when we go to Disney, he doesn't go. We've been to Disney many, many times - he's been to WDW twice and Disneyland once. He says he may go with us this October - time will tell!

Disney's definitely not for everyone...I know I know hard to believe huh? But my husband does NOT like crowds and has a bad back. After walking for a bit he's in a lot of pain. He does not want to go again, but I'm basically giving him no choice. He told me to take my friend, which if my kids were older I would, but for now I'm trying to create family memories. There will come a time when I go without him too and I don't care if he doesn't want to go!

You're trying to create family memories of your husband being in terrible pain? That doesn't sound like somebody who doesn't like Disney but somebody who doesn't like terrible back pain. If you've never experienced bad back pain you have no idea how terrible it is. I wouldn't want to go either in that situation.

(Insert eye roll here)

When did this become a question of how or with whom the OP chooses to spend her disney vacation with??

My fiance is not into everything that I am into, so sometimes I go places without him and visa/versa...If you ask me it is very healthy!! ;)

And to the OP, have a GREAT time!! I am hoping to convert my closest girlfriend, so that she and I can enjoy a girlie weekend from time to time!! :rotfl2:

My wife and family, DD/DS, have been to WDW, all together, once, eleven years ago. I have been there solo (though always with many folks from here) about 25 times since, and once on a dad/daughter (adult DD). Some day I hope she will join me. I will be there in a week or so again. She always says to 'enjoy yourself, say hello to the folks from the DIS'. Disney just is not her thing. Other trips, we always go together. Taking a 10 trip to DC and area later this summer. Some day though, I do hope she returns with me to Disney, in the meantime, it's solo for me, though as said, see lots of friends while there.

Enjoy, bsjs0708, that's great!!

Maybe you can convince him to rent an ECV so he's not walking so much. I learned that lesson last year and my family has a much better vacation now that I'm not in horrific pain and stopping every 5 minutes to recover. :thumbsup2

I don't think there is anything wrong with taking seperate vacations - Dh and I used to do it all the time until we discovered WDW. Now we take our WDW and Vegas trips together but we still take trips apart with friends or other family. Why would this be a problem?

Excellent! Glad he's good with you going, and glad you've found someone to share the Disney love with! :goodvibes

Disney's definitely not for everyone...I know I know hard to believe huh?

So true, though. When the Give a Day thingie came out, I tried to talk the whole family into going and, even though they generally love Disney movies and stuff, four of my five kids absolutely refused. To be honest, I wasn't that thrilled with Disneyland when I went there are a teenager, although I enjoyed some of it. Middle daughter and I are going this month and I may not last that long this time, either. OTOH, I've heard that Disneyland is more about the rides park and Disney World more about the experience, and if that's true, I'll probably be fine. :) Plus I've done more research than you could back then, and daughter already knows I intend to take a break from the park in the middle of the day. ;)

I go on vacations with and without my husband. He's a resident and has time to vacation once a year, but I like to go a few times. So I go on some solo trips with DD and sometimes with friends. I'm going to the bahamas in June with MIL, SIL, and DD because none of the guys were interested in beach time.
