goodness gracious I hope not. Plus, this time, it's not about something they missed when going through security. they just had a whackjob that tried to light his shoe on fire.
so i hope there won't be any carry-on restrictions again

It's actually less sinister than that.
According to media reports, the passenger was apparently taking a smoke on the airplane lavatory (which is illegal to begin with), and then made some "unfortunate" comments when confronted about it.
They didn't find any explosives on him.

Watching Canada AM and just read on scroll at bottom of screen that as of Thursday, Canadians are allowed 2 carry ons on flights!
Don't think the whole shoe fire has affected restrictions!!!

I must be the only one who cares more about the safety of the flight I'm on than whether or not my child gets to play with his DS for 2 hours.
Sorry, but I don't care what restrictions the airlines put out there. If the end result means a safer plane ride for us all, than fine by me. :thumbsup2

Apparently if you fly on a Canadian airline (air Canada, Westjet) the Air Marshalls are very highly trained. Highly trained enough that they are looked on as the experts in the airline industry all over the world.
