Hi

I know there was already a November countdown thread going, but some of us over there thought we should start a new one so that we could get all of our goodies on the front page of the thread -- November travelers list, ADR's, Park hours, Rehabs & closures, etc. :goodvibes

So come one, come all to the new November countdown and planning thread!! :cool1: Don't be shy!! Come on and post your dates/resort and tell us about you & your family and your upcoming November trip! We will have fun here planning & chatting everyday and counting down of course. I am at a milestone today ~ 7 MONTHS!!

This will be our second November trip. We went last November and loved it! This is our 6th WDW trip. My name is Shelly, it will be me, my DH, and our 2 boys on our trip. They are 8 & 10 now, and will be 9 & 11 by the time our trip gets here.

Now come on November, get here soon!!! :woohoo:

**Updated 9/6/10 ~ Feel free to PM weHEARTmickey (Angela) for your very own Mickey-Turkey so we can spot you in the parks!!

Last year the Osborne Lights and the Castle Lights started on the 10th. I don't think they have released the dates yet this year. . . Hoping it is around that same time! :wizard:

The Epcot Food & Wine Festival is going on until the 14th this year.

Oh I never thought of that!! I did see that the F&W festival goes a week later this year than last. . . I sure hope that doesn't affect the Lights. . .

Of course last year we booked the second week in Nov not even expecting the lights/decorations to be going on yet since the previous year they didn't start until Thanksgiving. So it was an added bonus to our trip! :goodvibes

Hello everyone! My name is Lori and I'll be arriving with my DH, DD and DS at BWV on Sunday 11/7 and we are VERY excited! We haven't been to WDW since 2007 because we used our DVC points to go on the Disney Magic in April 2009 (used 3 years worth of points! I don't recommend that, btw!).

My husband and I are celebrating our 15th anniversary during our vacation (11/11) so I know I'm making an ADR for California Grill! Still working on the rest.

Looking forward to getting to know the rest of the November crew!

Shelly - Since we're both staying at the Boardwalk, I'm sure we'll see each other by the pool! My son is 10 and loves to swim.

WOO HOO!! Glad that you are able to go back but I bet the magic was ALOT of fun. I went on the Wonder in 2008 and want to go back!!

Count us in! :yay:

We are going 11/10-17 and staying at the Poly.

We are looking forward to catching the end of F&W and a MVMCP :santa: The Osbourne lights would be a excellent bonus.

As far as dining, we each get to pick our personal favorite and then we will go from there. I am hoping to try some new places this trip.

Happy planning everyone :wizard:

oohhhh....6 months is good!! so...your ADR day is May 10? That's my ds10s birthday!! I guess that puts me at May 15th? I can't get up on his bday and devote it to Disney!!! Ha!!! At least I get a few extra days...but I am sure I will be planned and ready long before then! I am so giddy!!! I made my ticker so that of course makes it official!!!!!! I have got stuff to do today, but I can't get off the boards!! I really am gonna make the kids do some research on the countries they like best at Epcot this summer--- I always keep them reading while schools out...this is gonna be fun!! DD is old enough to really understand it this summer---really learn about each place. I think that is gonna make the WS more fun for her....
How many of you are planning on doing Fantasmic? I am thinking if the crowds are as low as we expect we can skip the package....

Now that I think about it might not need to do the Fantasmic Dinner Package afterall if the crowds are low, I am not thrilled at the choices to eat, but I do want to see the show since I missed it last trip, but then if the Osborne Lights are showing , Hmmmm I was only planning on one night at DHS I know I read a TR on here and the writer went to the Osborne Lights while Fantasmic was going on I think :confused3

We keep telling her that we cant go to see Micky until she is 4, which is Sep 28. We'll have to have a big countdown poster or something to occupy her time between then and Nov 5! We are trying something new this time and staying at Windsor Hills. I know...I know...it's like I'm cheating on Disney!

I used it our last trip which was late Oct/early Nov last year. I was happy with the advice for the most part. We are not huge pre-planners. If I presented DH with a park touring plan he would commit me.:rolleyes1 But he liked reading TGMs least crowded charts in the evening before we hit the sheets and it helped us to narrow down our plans for the next day.

We went against his advice one night and went to Epcot and it was a huge mistake. Live and learn. I have resigned up for our next trip but like you, I am hoping for low crowds.

I am looking forward for the hours to come out and get my ADRs together. Then it will be time to enjoy the summer and before you know it, we will be on our way:thumbsup2

TGM is well worth the price....we use it every year...his best day advice is well worth the price....Some of the stuff you can find anywhere but he gives advice and ideas that you cant find anywhere else...if you use for best days then you will be happy with spending the money...

If you decide to purchase do it now...his site is hard to navigate for a 1st timer but there is a huge amount of info...also he has a great forum there too

A bit of a learning curve trying to figure out how to navigate the site...but if you take the time to look around and read there is alot of info...dont bother with his touring plans as they are a bit dated...Do read his advice on each attraction on how and when to see an attraction....he gives detailed summaries of each...I really like his advice...

also on hios best day advice he breaks each park each day into morning and evening...with a detailed reason as to why or why not...he will alsways have more than 1 park as a fav but read carefully because he will prefer one best park over another best park...he just doesnt want you to feel obligated to one park....thats why I prefer it to TP

For the record...I really like ridemax but only if you are going during a bust time like thanksgiving...I tried it last trip and did not need it at all...I didnt even need all my FPs I collected, except TSM...the rest are still on my dresser...

Yep, it's going pretty fast for me. I think it's because there has been lots going on. I haven't ever used any of those tour guide/planning sites. . . I do have a method to my madness though! I go by what I have learned from experience. I know what days are best to go to each park and which are not so good. I also like to avoid EMH. I am a huge planner, but I don't ever have a set/definite plan of attack once we get inside the park. Well, except for maybe right at RD, I do know which attractions we want to hit first! :goodvibes

Fantasmic started out showing 4 nights the week we were going (when the hours/schedule originally came out), but then they added a second showing to 3 of those nights (about a month before we left), making 7 showings total for the week, on 4 nights. We were actually there on a F! night, but didn't go to it. It didn't seem to make the park anymore crowded. (on a Tuesday)

Well I will say that when we first started going for Thanksgiving in 2002 it was pretty empty. Every year seems to get a little busier but I am surprised to hear it is rated a 10 BEFORE Thanksgiving. We check in the Saturday before Thanksgiving and never found it to be too bad till the weekend after Thanksgiving. We don't do the parks on Thanksgiving day so I can't speak for that day, but the day after it is noticibly more busy then early in the week, but not so much so that we don't totally enjoy ourselves!

It just takes up waaay to much room draggin all those clothes...I am hoping we can do shorts and a sweat shirt at night...what do ya'll typically bring?

Lots of likeness. I like! ;)

Yeah, that prediction seems odd to me. After Thanksgiving maybe, but not before. We usually pack a pair of thin leggings for each of us girls (DH is hot blooded!) And a sweatshirt. We wear them in the mornings sometimes, (we go early) and then again in the evenings. All thin though, not anything too thick. Days are nice and warm and we wear shorts everyday, but the evenings can get cool. We like to fill our mugs with hot chocolate for our walk back to our rooms. We drive from NY so we of course have the winter coats and everything, but we leave all that in the car along with extra sweatshirts just in case we get a cool week whenre we need more of them. So far that has not happened. It has always been so nice. Mayve we will see you at DTD on that Saturday.

Well...I just noticed the new deal out for May/June....it is kids stay & play for free....ages 3-9.....I told Mike and he ain't budging!!! ha!! It would only benefit us for dd anyway..the other two are too old. But...if they are still offereing discounts for May this close to time....... I think Nov should see some great promos!!! he did say"I am so ready to go!! I can't wait!!!' Hee Hee!!! Now I just have to wait for Nov!!!!! I wonder if he wants to go the tail end of April? Kinda curb his longing for a disney fix!!!!!

Hi Shelly,

Please count me in. DH and I are treating our DD,DSIL, DDGS ages 5&6, and DD. We will be there 11/21-27. This is our 4th Thanksgiving trip. We think the little boys will be such fun at this age!

I have been going crazy checking prices, resorts, etc, etc. Plan is for the DD's and family to stay at THV and DH and I will be at Beach or Yacht Club. Have stayed at Beach Club before but now I'm leaning towards Yacht Club. Reservations are made. Would love a pin that applies to the time we are there. The ones I've received have been for spring/summer. Regardless, we are all set and ready to go!

DD has a spread sheet with ADR's to make according to parks for the day. I think she might be a little excited too. The boys won't know until they arrive.

Thank you to everyone for all of their information on this board. It has been so helpful!

May I come play?!? :) We'll be at WDW from November 28 to December 3rd, though we'll actually arrive a day earlier so we can hit the ground running on the 28th.

I'm Kimberly (43), DH (51) and Mia will turn 8 a few days before we arrive. This is our first time to arrive before Christmas and though our January trips are usually early enough that we get to see some decorations still up, it's not the same. We're extra excited because my best friend and her family (husband and 4 kids) are meeting us there and it's their first time ever!

Not sure which resort we'll end up in since DH is a travel agent that specializes in Disney and he keeps switching us around. The man can nail a perfect trip for a client like nobody's business but for us... whew! Right now we're booked for AKL but we added a last-minute trip this month (2 weeks from today!) and we're using our DVC at AKL, plus two days at WL club level, so he'll most likely want to switch our November resort.

My favorite part of planning this trip is Pink Princess Day - the guys all do their own thing and my best friend and her daughter (a year younger than Mia and also adopted from China) and Mia and I are totally girlie-ing out! Breakfast at Akershus with the princesses, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, dinner at CRT with the princesses and so on. Angela at Ollie Girl! (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Boutique-Ollie-Girl) is creating Mia's customs and I can't wait to see what she comes up with!

Hope to see some of you at the World! :)

Sounds like a fantastic trip! :goodvibes

Have you stayed at the BWV before? This will be our first time at BWI and we are very excited!! :cool1: And yes, we will definitely see you at the pool! :thumbsup2 My boys can hardly wait to go down that slide!

We purchased DVC at the BWV when I was pregnant with my son, just over 10 years ago, and with the exception of one trip to WLV back in 2001, it is our "go to" resort! Our kids are very happy with it, and every time I suggest we stay somewhere else, I get voted down  but I'm fine with that. We are so glad we joined DVC and are thinking of purchasing more points so we can stay a little longer each year or possibly add on a long weekend for me & DH every so often.

I didn't get a chance to log on much this week and I'm excited to see so many new November planners! And we're up to 5 pages on the new thread!

Oh, and I just told my DH that his birthday, 5/11, is the day we need to make ADRs (of course I had to say "dinner reservations for our Disney trip" because he's not hip to the DIS lingo!) :rotfl:

WOO HOO!! Glad that you are able to go back but I bet the magic was ALOT of fun. I went on the Wonder in 2008 and want to go back!!

YES, the Magic was wonderful! It was a year ago that we went and hopefully we'll go on another DCL vacation again soon, but that will require a LOT of saving (or hitting the lottery). I was told about the DISboards when I told a friend we were going on the cruise and I swear I spent every night for two months on the boards! But I made great t-shirts for all of us and door magnets from all the graphics created by the wonderful DISigners. And I got to know lots of folks before the cruise via the boards, so that made the trip fun, too!

Looking forward to more planning!

Hi

I'll be at WDW from Nov 9 til Nov 17 and would love to meet up with any one who mite be there. I go alone so can always use some company. It's still to soon to make any ADRs but am planing to make only one - I'd like to see the Hoop-de-doo dinner show. Since I'll probably be getting the counter service dining plan, I won't make any other fancy ADRs.

Any comments? Oh yeah, I'll be staying at the BLT - my home resort

I could have swore that I already responded to this thread, but I guess I didn't.

We are going for our first ever Thanksgiving trip, Nov 19-26th and staying at the Grand Floridian for the first time also! We have been on pretty much every other holiday, so we figured we needed to get a Thanksgiving in. Actually, DH got a new job and his vacations are set to the week of July 4th and Thanksgiving. I figured its either hot and crowded or mild and crowded. So we went with mild and crowded!

I already have my ADRs planned out, with 2 backups to each one. We are doing deluxe dining, so we are planning to pig out for the week. Just like we would do at home! Even planning our Thanksgiving dinner at 1900 so we can still get some of that family disfunction with the Stepmother and sisters!

This will be our first trip since 2004 that we have went as just a family of 4 and could really relax and do what we want to do, without showing everyone around. We are really looking forward to it!

Boma's,Biergarten, Fultons, Via Napoli, Crystal Palace

Here are our dining plans. I didn't add all my 2nds or 3rds choices. Just for the really hard to get ADRs.

Narcoossee - Arrival Day, No Park

Ohana Breakfast
CRT Dinner or California Grill

Tusker House Breakfast
Yacthmans Steakhouse

H&V Breakfast
50s Prime Time Cafe

Chef Mickeys Breakfast
1900 Park Fare Dinner or Whispering Canyon (This is Thanksgiving Day, dinner subject to change. We are leaning towards casual, but now DH is saying maybe a Signature or something at AK Lodge... We are leaning towards AK for our park on Tday)

Akershus Breakfast
Le Cellier Dinner or Coral Reef or Flying Fish (don't really want to leave the park!)

Kona Breakfast
Crystal Palace Dinner

1900 Park Fare Breakfast -- Gotta have our Madd Hatter Fix before we go!

Of coarse, we don't know which days yet, just by park. Can't wait for the hours to come out! We are trying not park hop. We have never tried before. We are still paying for the hopper due to Thanksgiving and the fact we can never do more then a half day at AK. We like early breakfast, the very first of the day if possible. And late dinners (after 8) except on our first MK night cause we have to see Spectro and Wishes. Then we will hit a CS during the middle of the day.

Our first trip at Tgiving was in the early 90's. Crowds were minimal and you never had to worry about reservations. I think we are in for a surprise in terms of crowds. One year we had Thanksgiving dinner at the Yacht Club. We stayed off-site that year. It was great. I remember we had to book a certain hour and you moved through it pretty fast...buffet style. That is our tentative plan for this year as well.
I keep reading reviews on all of our tentative restaurants and telling my dd we might need to change this one or that one. Good thing we still have about 7 weeks to make final decisions!

WELCOME EVERYONE!!

Since May if our 6 month window Does anyone know where they are wishing to dine at?

Well, I am working at it! :rotfl: We've been to so many WDW restaurants and character meals and buffets! The kids are to the age now where they don't really care about the character meals anymore. :sad2: So we are trying to pick a few of our favorite TS places and then add a few new ones. . . But we aren't doing the DDP this time, so we are trying to not go overboard on the ADR's. We are wanting to try some new CS places as well.

TS:
T-Rex
Kona Cafe breakfast
Big River Grille
San Angel Inn
Sci-Fi Dine In
maybe Cape May dinner. . .

CS:
Columbia Harbour House
Casey's Corner
BW Bakery
BW Kiosks
somewhere in Epcot. . . (maybe the new pizzeria if it is open by then)
somewhere in DHS. . . (not Toy Story or ABC Com.)
somewhere in DTD. . .
maybe Flame Tree in AK. . .

And I can't wait to have a Dole Whip Float!! :cloud9:

Hi all! Hoping I can join everyone on your November countdown. My husband, two sons ages 4 and 9, and I will be staying at CBR Nov 7-11 for our first Disney trip. We are actually arriving in Florida on the 4th and staying at the beach for 3 nights before heading to Disney. I ended up on these boards when searching for a specific question and have been hooked ever since! I am so excited to have someone to plan with, my husband thinks I'm silly because it is so far out and the boys are excited but to them 7 months is years away. I am so excited because this trip will have lots of "firsts" for the boys - first airplane ride, first time seeing the ocean, first trip to Florida and, best of all, first time at Disney. I look forward to chatting with everyone as we count down!

Hi everyone, not sure if i intro'd myself yet or not... but, we are going to WDW for our 8th consecutive Thanksgiving trip. We will be there Nov. 20-28 and staying at the Dolphin for the first time. We have the executive suite booked, since there are 8 of us, and we are all staying together! (which we have also never done!) We got a good military rate (Father in Law is a vet. ) So, the price was right! We have never stayed in a "non-disney" resort before -- so this will take some getting use to!

As for meals - haven't thought too much about it, we just came back from WDW last month (did the princess 1/2 marathon, and then my sis got married at the GF) -

My dh will come down for part of the time, but will leave on weds. before TG..

He does however request to eat at one buffet each time - this time he wants Cape May Cafe. So, we will do that one for sure..
My dd is requesting we go back to Sci-Fi dine in.. so i guess we can do that one too. :) Haven't given much thought to too much else..

We are thinking about trying the Swan or Dolphin in 2011. We can get a good rate since I am substituting at my kids school now. I plan to check them out when we are at the BWI this time!

Sounds like you will have a blast with 8 of you!!

Will you go to Cape May for breakfast or dinner? We have been there for breakfast and are considering it for dinner this time. . .

We will do CMC for dinner - DH is not a "big" breakfast person.. he likes a dinner buffet.
We have eaten there lots of times - it's very good!

I don't know that i will book much more in the way of ADR's -- b/c with the military rate we also get 50% off the "lower" end rest. at the dolphin/swan! That's a great deal! Basically, it includes any of the CS and the cheaper sit down.

We're in, too. WL from November 9-17. I've never been there this time of year - been in the winter, spring and summer, but never the fall.

We're in a Grand Gathering with my family, my brother's family, and my parents, though we haven't talked about any of the special GG activities. My wife was very happy to see that F&W is going until 11/14, as I thought it was going to stop on the 7th (I think it went through the 8th last year).

Our ADR date is May 13 - I don't think we're having all of our meals together, but you can be that we'll be 10 at Le Cellier!

I just wonder - for those that eat 2+ sit down meals a day... how the heck do you do it?? I usally eat a smaller breakfast and then snack thru the day, and then one good sit down early dinner - and i am stuffed.. i can't imagine eating 3 sit down meals a day!! LOL And i am assuming if you do it, you have the DDP, otherwise it must cost a ton also!! LOL

We usually go in the heat of the summer and we eat breakfast early in the morning and dinner late at night. Then we usually drink water and eat ice cream and popcorn through out the day. We can't eat alot in the heat. This year we are doing the DxDP. I am not certain we will be able to eat all the food. But, we are only planning 2 TS a day and eat a CS during the day. We are going with the same plan as usual, early breakfast (1st of the day if possible) and late dinner (after 8). Midday (around 1) lunch. We just wanted to give it a try and see how it works out. My DH is like a human garbage disposal so he is really looking forward to all the food! lol

Forgot to mention, last year was the first time we ever used to the DDP. Before we paid out of pocket. We have always had atleast 1 TS. And most were breakfast because my kids used to be more breakfast eaters. We never really paid attention to the price. We always averaged $250 a day for food, drinks and snacks and we always had plenty left over.

I have found it is hard trying to schedule ADR's other than breakfast, since no one ever seems to get hungry at the same time. I know we usually do Breakfast and Dinner having a snack during the day, or we do something light in the morning before leaving the resort, an Early Lunch and then Dinner. I can't imagine scheduleing 3 TS meals a day, but then we have never used the DP instead paying OOP for all our meals. Renting a villa this year and may do a couple of meals in the room, my DS and Ddil have both said they will cook :rotfl::rotfl:...more power to them since I am on vacation :rotfl2:

I often wonder this too. . . There is no way we could ever eat 3 TS's a day at WDW!! :faint: We wouldn't be able to walk! :rotfl:

DH and the kids usually do a light breakfast in the room (granola bars, cereal bars, fruit, etc), I usually don't even eat breakfast. Then we have an early (11-11:30am) CS lunch. And then we will do a TS for dinner. Except for once or twice a trip we will do a breakfast TS. On those days we will just get a snack in the afternoon and then do either a CS or a TS dinner.

I think nearly everything, if not everything, should be up by then. We were there the second week of Nov last year and all the parks were decorated before we left on the 15th. The Castle Lights, MVMCP, and the Osborne Lights were up & running. The gingerbread house at the GF was almost finished, and set to be finished/open by the 16th. The resorts we not decorated yet. From what we heard their decorations would start going up the following week and everything would be fully decorated by Thanksgiving!

Yeah, when paying out of pocket, that is what we budget for. If you think about it, really it doesn't take very much to hit that amount. We are a family of 4. 3 of us eat adult meals, sometimes all 4 because she won't eat Disneys kids meals. For example, we used to have a first day tradition of having breakfast at CRT then dinner at LTT, we were spending basically the whole days budget right there. We don't bring food or drinks or anything with us, so we pay for everything. We can easily drink $40 a day in water alone. $2.50 a water adds up! So, yes. Some days we easily hit $250 (or over). Other days, we will spend around $150. But we have never done less then $150 a day since the kids were old enough to discover character meals. It usually balances out over the week and we have money left over. But we always have it budgeted that high, just in case.

I was originally planning on going the week after TurkeyDay but then DH said he would like to go during F&W someday, so I compromised, switching to the second week in November so we can catch the end of F&W, keeping fingers crossed that some of the Christmas Decorations and Events :santa: might be up and running. If not I am already thinking about another trip next year :rotfl:

We are budgeting about $700 for the week for food. I've gone over all the menus and have a pretty good idea of what we will order and added in extra for snacks and so on and that's the figure I came up with. That is with 5-6 TS meals. (One being breakfast)The DDP would cost us over $900 now since one of our boys in considered an adult. So we are going to try it paying OOP and see what happens!

Ok..... i guess if it's in your budget and you can afford that - then go for it! :thumbsup2 I however can't grip my thoughts around that kind of money.. LOL I usally go just me and 9 yr old dd, and for 9 days we spend about $300.
We eat a very low key breakfast in our room, snack for lunch - and a decent dinner (either CS or TS) - however I limit character /buffets to 1 or 2 per trip..
As i said, i am in no way trying to insult you or knock you (please don't think am! :) ) -- as mentioned, i have just never spent more than $300-$400 for a week trip, LOL b/c i am on a very strict budget - so to hear from the flip side just blows my mind!! We ordered from Garden GRocer in March when we went - what a great life saver that is for food money!! :thumbsup2

That's why i think in 2011, when it's just me and dd going in our own room, i may do the DDP (the one with 1 cs and 1 ts meal) - to see how that goes.. if i go off of 2010 rates it is just over $400 for the week, and we will eat decent! :thumbsup2 If i do that - you can bet i will book more character meals.. :) But i am curious to try the DDP to see how much we eat vs just going for a reg. trip..

But, i guess if you are buying everything, and eating buffet or char. dinners -- it doesn't take much to add up.. :) I just don't do it that way..... so i just will have to live vicariously thru you!! LOL

Keep in mind that your DD9 can get the DDP now very cheap. Something like $13 a day I believe. Once she hits age 10, it is an adult price. Something like $40 a day. The DDP was a great deal for us, until DS turned 10.

Going down for Jersey week for the third time from 11/1 - 11/7. We are two families of 5 each with kids 10, 7, and 3 each. Excited because we are splurging with a 40% off Pin and staying at BLT 2Brs! Can't Wait.

Using TGM again but as we are arriving 11/1 may have an issue making ADRs as the hours and Green/Red days may not be posted by then. Still hoping!

No, I didn't take it that way at all! :) If I were only going with my youngest DD, she and I could save a fortune! She is super picky and doesn't eat much. She would be happy with a egg or pancake for breakfast and Caseys mini corn dogs every day for dinner! lol BUT.... my DH is a healthy eater as I say. He is a big guy, but not fat. His job keeps him in shape, but also makes him hungry all the time. And my oldest DD just turned 10, but is 5'6" 1/2 and wears a size 10 in shoe. A good 5in taller then the next tallest kid in her class. And has no signs of slowing down! She is a linky bean pole, but she is super active in several sports, so she eats all the time too. Between her and my DH, they eat us out of house and home! So its required for them to have atleast 2 good meals a day. I wish I had their metabolism -- and energy!

That's exactly what we do!! I need to get those menus online and see what it would cost us...we usually spend (on the ticket they give you) at least $100 per night at our TS dinners!!!! I don't know if ds10 would order off of it or not if we weren't doing the dining plan...which of course bumps him to adult. So...other places, can go as high as $180!! Which is about what we spend for the ddp each day...so for us if that is how we are going to eat(at a different country each night), at this point it makes sense for us to stay on it.....I look at it like that paid for dinner and we got a free lunch and snack!!!! We just do granola bars for the morning anyway.

We did DDP last time we went, but that was in 2007 and then the TS meal included an appetizer (no longer for adults) so it was a lot of food and we felt spoiled! At that time, both our kids were under 10 and the childrens DDP was SO worth the money. Now they're both 10+, so we'd have to pay for 4 adults and I know my DS (10) will want to eat off the kids menu so that just makes it a deal-breaker. We're looking into whether we'd save money by buying one annual park pass (we save $100 as DVC members) and get a TIW card for $75. This gets us 20% off at lots of restaurants, including alcohol.

I started a spreadsheet, but I haven't figured out if it's worth it yet or not. :teacher:

The fun is in the planning!

This is my parents first "real" time at disney. Usually we would stay off site when I went with school and even when I worked there they only stayed onsite for 2 nights and then went to another resort off site. So this is going to be a change for then. To have the magic around 24/7!!! I think that iit is going to be magical. :wizard: ( sorry the smiley was looking at me like her wanted on the page.. LOL) As for the 3 meals a day. I don't know if it is going to be worth it or not but we are going to find out. I have been to Disney ALOT and my parents a couple of time so I'm thinking that this time we are going to slow down a little (LMAO) and take it slow so we are able to get everything in and not be rushed. I it usually a slower time of year so I am hoping that the lines are not that bad so we are able to get on the things that we want to and get FP's for those that the lines are to long.

anywho I just went into no where land there I think. Anyways, I think that we are just going to go and have what fills us up and move on. But if we are to full then we will forgo the Deluxe plan next time.

We will be going November 20-26, staying at BLT in a studio.
Myself, DH, DS15 & DD7.

This is our third time going Thanksgiving week. Don't like the crowds as we used to go in October, but once DS hit middle school, we didn't feel like we could pull him out of school for a full week anymore. We do the DXDDP and it works for us. DH likes TS every night and we do a different character meal each morning. Since we are on vacation, this is our one splurge for the year.

Just how crowded is Thanksgiving week? My DS starts middle school the year after next. So I am thinking this trip is going to be the last one we can pull him out of school for a week. So looking ahead to 2011 I'm just not sure what we will do. We have no desire to go in the summer. DH and the kids can't stand the heat/humidity. But of course none of us like crowds. And I'm sure anytime my kids are off school, so will everybody else's kids. :confused3

Since we decided to stay off site for the first time instead of booking 2 rooms or doing the family suite, I have to book our dining reservations on separate days. Hopefully, I will still get us what we want at the approx. times we want them!!! This is what I am shooting for...

Sat. 11/6 Liberty Tree
Mon. 11/8 Akershus Breakfast or Lunch (any opinions here?)
Wed. 11/10 1900 Park Fare Bfast
Hoop Dee Doo Dinner (Cat. 2 or 3, any opinions?)

Think we are sticking with just four ressies this year since I don't want one on arrival/departure day and we are planning on going to church Sunday so I don't know were we'll end up after that. I know we are looking forward to the following food... haha...
Flame Tree BBQ
Dole Pineapple/orange float thingy (don't know how I have missed this one!)
anything at Epcot!

MVMCP= Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party, select nights at the MK (admission is extra) a reg. ticket to the park won't get you into that party, it's an entirely different admission ticket. ;)

Osborn Light show is free and fantastic!! But, can get EXTREMELY crowded.. not for the claustrophobic! :lmao:

Generally, if you are on site, you can book dining ADRS 6mo. out, there is a calculator on the main dining page on wdwinfo.com . :) ETA: here is the dining calculation link -

Honestly, since you have obviously been to WDW before, i would say TG time would be fine! We go every TG -- the days up to about TG day aren't too too bad -- but TG day is very crowded at the MK (as you would probably expect) BUT, we have gone to MK on TG day and they opened EMH at 7am, and then we hit lots of stuff and were out by 10 am! :thumbsup2 After that, it's awful! LOL
Last year, we just hung out at the resort for Thurs and friday. Weekends are busy, but not uncontrolable.

It is what you make it.. that's my feeling. We just use the EMH (mostly a.m.) and then hang at the resort and swim in the afternoons.. I am WAY BEYOND spending 12 hr park days... :lmao: Where else can do you take them out of school for only 3 days (mon-weds) and get a possible 9 day vacation?! :thumbsup2

BTW -- i agree with you - i took dd out of school for 7 days this march (she's 3rd grade right now) and i will NEVER do it again!!We were down for the 1/2 marathon and then my sis got married at WDW - so we were there 11 days total. The amount of work she missed was too much (meaning more of the class room instruction).. i can see 2-3 days (MAYBE 4 in an extreme case), but i will never take her out for over a week (school days) again -- she missed 7 class days.. ugh..

But yes, the make up work is terrible. We have only ever taken them out for 5 school days. It hasn't been bad on my younger one yet, but definitely hard on the older one the last 2 years. So TG week would be an option. We could go down the Fri night or Sat morning before TG and hit the parks hard until TG day and then take it easy. They would only miss 3 school days that way.

Just an FYI on Akershus. Breakfast is an American breakfast where the rest of the meals are Norwegian so they can be a little different. I would look at the menu and go from there cause I went for dinner with some friends and I don't think I ate except for the bread and desert.

What is MVMCP? Does the Osborn Lights have an additional fee besides park entrance? Anyone know how I tell when I can book dining? Meaning is there a calendar that I can enter my date? Thanks everyone, looking so forward to this trip!

I LOVE MVMCP.. I know that someone already said what it is but if you get a chance and have the money you should atleast try it once. The characters are dressed in their christmas attire. Belle is in her christmas dress, The princesses are with their prince in Toontown. They have some great stage shows AND the castle is just beautiful. Plus the special parade and then holiday wishes is just magical. OH and it snows on main street. I have to admit that the first time I went I stood on main street with "snow" falling around me looking at the catle, drinking hot cocoa and cried.. It was just so magical!! Anywho, That is JMO on MVMCP..

Osborn Lights are not an additional fee and a MUST! It "snows" there too and the lights are just beautiful. I live close to Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO and they are known for their Christmas lights so this is the only thing that really stood out on the Christmas lights to me besides the castle. I'm spoiled I guess. (there is over 3 million chrstimas lights at SDC and it is only one park From what I have hear there are only 1-2 million on the entire Disney property durring the holiday season. )

:confused3

The amount of work she missed was too much (meaning more of the class room instruction).. i can see 2-3 days (MAYBE 4 in an extreme case), but i will never take her out for over a week (school days) again -- she missed 7 class days.. ugh..

Thanks for the info!:goodvibes

Yes, this year will be our 6th trip. So it's not like we will have to do and see everything on our 7th trip (2011)! :rotfl: We just hate crowds. And if the wait is over 20 minutes, my kids aren't interested! We are spoiled by traveling in the off season.

The first part of the week is fine, it is TG and after that gets really crowded. We won't wait over 20 minutes for a ride either, so plan your ADRs and FPs accordingly. TG we eat three TS' at Epcot and just hit rides that have low lines, you can find them, and wander through the countries.

We are SOOOOO excited. :cool1: We have only ever gone in Sept so Nov is going to be totally new to us.

Hi, all. I've been reading the DIS threads like crazy to prepare for our first trip to Fort Wilderness Nov. 10-19. I visited MK, EP, and MGM once about 25 years ago and my partner saw MK once 34 years ago! We're both 60 but feel like kids thinking about all the fun stuff ahead. I hope our expectation of the typical low low crowds for that time of year pans out. We're not so good at standing in lines very long: bad backs, bad knees, bad ankles...but we'll be happy to suffer in Disney!:yay:

What is a TIW card? We have annual passes. We are a family of 5 (3 adults) and TS really adds up. We have a 2BR BLT so we have a kitchen for breakfast and some dinners, but we like to do lunch in the parks, so if this TIW can help with that my DH would be happier. Is it good for CS or just TS?

Tables In Wonderland card, I think. . . And I think it gets you 20% off at WDW restaurants. . . But you'll have to wait for someone else for the details because I'm not too sure of them. . .

Alright guys, I need some advice from the Disney experts. We will arrive Sunday November 7th to CBR, probably around 10:30 a.m. (We're driving from Daytona with a rental car.) Currently I have only booked two day tickets and was planning Monday MK and Tuesday DHS. I was planning on Wednesday to hang out at the pool, go to Downtown Disney, have a nice dinner and relax our last day. Our flight leaves Thursday morning so we will not have any time on departure day. Should I upgrade our tickets to a three day and go to AK on Sunday afternoon? I really would like the boys to see AK but is it worth the extra $270 for basically a half day in the park? If I was to upgrade our tickets to three day, then I may as well do four day for the price. However, then I would really be trying to cram stuff in!

When I first started planning this trip, I thought that two days in an amusement park were plenty for the kids. Then I started reading these boards and have become addicted! I may have to start planning another trip for next year for a full week, four days is definately not enough time.

Any recommendations?

Wow, that's a hard one. . . . I probably wouldn't pay $270 to spend a half day in AK. But then, AK isn't my favorite park either. . . I would pay it and try to squeeze Epcot into your plans.

Also, MK is known for being very busy on Monday's. So you might want to take that into consideration. I would definitely get 3 or 4 days tickets if you can. You don't have to spend the entire day each day at the parks, so you will still have time for a nice relaxing dinner, some resort time, and shopping at DTD.

Maybe check into CBR in the 7th. Unpack, swim, relax, make a dinner ADR, head to DTD for shopping that evening. Monday I would do Epcot (or AK if that's the park you choose), DHS on Tuesday, and MK on Wednesday.

We usually do the parks in half days. We either go right at opening and stay until about 3-4:00. Or we head to the park around 1-2:00 and stay until closing. That way we can enjoy the parks, but not feel like our vacation is rushed.

Good luck! :goodvibes

Just my 2 cents: if you reeeeeaaalllly want to do AK...go on Sun after you get there. Have lunch then head over there....stay till park closing, that should give you enough time to at least get the feel for the park. Find a good thread with info on the AK and be planning what you think your kids would like to see the most and aim for that...even if it's just one or two things. That won't be too overwhelming.
Maybe do DHS on the Monday instead of MK...shelly is right...MK is busy on Mondays!
Tues at MK...get there at Rope Drop and do your favorite things first...getting FastPasses for the ones you will need.....If you want to do Epcot I would do that over DTD on Wed. You definitely wont be able to see it all...so YES!!! Plan a longer trip soon!!! But...this way you can hit the highlights and get a feel for how the parks are laid out.... You may want to get a good guidebook...like Birnbaums, or Passporter, or whatever is available at your bookstores....don't be unprepared!!! And know that you will walk A LOT!!! Have good walking shoes that are broken in! So...that's my advice!!! Have fun planning and keep us posted!!!!

That's a good idea to go to AK in the afternoon the day she arrives. . . An afternoon there is long enough to cover the main attractions.

Yes, I think we all learn the hard way to avoid MK on Monday's!! :rotfl:

Thank you guys so much for all the wonderful advice, exactly what I was looking for. I think what I may do is upgrade the tickets to four day tickets and plan them according to your advice on the busier days at each park. Also, if I do that I may consider switching to a value resort. The main reason that I picked CBR was because I figured we would be at the resort quite a bit and therefore I liked the zero entry pool for my little one and the waterslides for the older one. However, if we are not going to be at the resort much, there is no sense in spending the extra just for the pool. I also really liked the theming at CBR for myself but I think the boys might like the theming at the values better. Hmm, guess I still have time to decide. Thank you!

Hey fellow November travelers! We will be going 11/6 to 11/13 if you'd like to add us to your list. This will be our first Nov trip ever and I am super excited to see Christmas decorations. We usually go in Jan or Feb. We have 8 people total and will be staying at Windsor Hills.

I really want to check out MVMCP and I see someone posted the first party as 11/12. How hard would it be to get tickets for the first party? Should I buy them as soon as they become available? I imagine the first party is probably pretty crowded.

Sounds like November is a great time to go from reading all your posts with good weather, beautiful Christmas decorations, and low crowds. I am super excited especially since our last trip was in Feb 07! Way too long!!!

You picked a great week. :goodvibes (That's my week)

I would get your MVMCP tickets as soon as they come out. I started a thread once and asked how crowded the party was the first week it is offered. . . I got very contradicting opinions. :confused3 Some would say VERY busy - stay away!! And others would say it wasn't crowded at all and all the rides were walk ons. . .

Yes, November is a great time to go. We liked it best of all the times of the year we have gone! :goodvibes

The name for the new authentic Neapolitan pizzeria operated by the Patina Restaurant Group in the Italy pavilion at Epcot's World Showcase has been revealed: Via Napoli. The restaurant will have wood-burning ovens, and will import water from a source that most resembles the water in Naples, Italy, home of some of the world's best pizza dough. This 300-seat pizzeria will feature a menu inspired by the famous pizzerias of southern Italy. The menu also will feature pastas, salads, sandwiches and Italian wines.

Sorry, tree320, but I didn't check in yesterday, so I'm just reading your question tonight.

As Momof2Disneyboys wrote, TIW stands for "Tables In Wonderland" and I learned about it here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/disneydiningexperience.htm (Apparently, this used to be called "Disney Dining Experience".)

Since you already have annual passes, one person in your party would purchase the TIW card for $75.00, and your party gets 20% off of all food and beverage purchases (including alcoholic beverages) at the participating Disney restaurants.

At first I was worried that the restaurants we really want to eat at would not participate, but most of them are on the list! Specifically: California Grill, Hoop-Dee-Doo Review, ESPN, Flying Fish, Kouzzina's, Bluezoo, Kona Cafe, Ohana's, Le Cellier, Coral Reef, Rose & Crown Pub, Liberty Tree Tavern, plus TONs more. Granted, I don't think we'll actually be able to eat at all these places, but that's the thing that appeals to me about TIW - we could pop in for just drinks and/or an appetizer and get 20% off on the whole bill. Some people may not like the 18% gratuity that is automatically added on, but we typically tip 20% unless service is REALLY bad, so that is no biggie to me.

I didn't really scour the list of restaurants for CS specifically, but check out the URL above for all the choices.

Hope that helps! :flower3:

Thanks for the info! I'm not sure we would get to use it enough to pay for itself. I think we will still be stuffed from all the food we plan on eating on the Wonder.:rotfl: If I had known about it on our last trip in Jan. when we bought the AP, I think I would have bought it. I will look at the prices of the places we might eat. Thanks again. This is why I love Disboards! So much info I wish I knew on our first trips.

It's official: I booked this morning using the 30% room discount pincode that I received in yesterday's email (YAY!). POFQ, November 29-December 5. DH, DGD10, me and hopefully, DD (I'll add her later if she decides to come with). :cloud9:

If extended free dining is offered as it was last year, I'll have to change things, especially since DGD10 is now a Disney adult, but for now it's all good. :lovestruc

I don't know all these acronyms yet but myself, my wife, my 14 and 11 year olds are going from 11/3 - 11/13.

We're staying at the Pop Century. We've decided on 3 days at MK, 3 days at Epcot, 2 Days at Hollywood studios, 1 day at Animal Kingdom, and 1 day at Universal (we're big Harry Potter fans).

We're on the Deluxe Dining Plan. I saw someone posting about this earlier. We are planning 3 sit down meals a day, the meals are our break.

We haven't decided which parks on which days or decided on restaurants yet.

Someone else mentioned Fantasmic. We're absolutely in on that. This is our kids first trip and our first trip since we were kids, so we plan to really do it right.

We may spend the better part of an entire day doing the Kim possible thingy and exploring world showcase.

And I just learned we'll be there for this Christmas party. YAY!

Hi there! Thanks for adding me to the crew (my dates are actually the 6-14, though :))!

I'm Shell, wife to Mark, mom to Jared (boy 19 .... US Marine, not going to WDW with us this time :(), Jonah (boy 14), and Jaydin (girl 4 .... this one is proof God has a sense of humor). For the last 2 years, we've done 7-night DCL cruises to the western Caribbean. I needed a *real* dose of Disney this year. My mom (75) generally travels with us, as well.

This will be our first trip to WDW since 2006 (other than MNSSHPs). My dd doesn't really have a concept of the parks at this point since all she remembers are cruises and MNSSHPs. :)

We're staying at the Polynesian, CL. It's the only resort on the monorail line at which we've not stayed.

I'm looking forward to reading the thread and getting to know everyone. Wow .... I DO love the planning!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure. . . I have been watching them closely and their rates are so high anymore. . . :confused3 We used to get excellent rates with them. I haven't seen a great deal between PIT and MCO in a LONG time. :sad2: I hope you are able to get one from your city! :wizard:

We booked with AirTran this time. We have flown with them before and like them a lot. The only thing I don't like about them is the stupid baggage fees. But we can usually get away with only checking 2-3 pieces of luggage for the 4 of us, so it won't be that much of an added expense. We got RT airfare for the 4 of us for $715 for November!! :cheer2: I'm glad I booked when I did, our flights are up to $150 each way now. :scared:

We booked with Airtran too, out of Indianapolis. Tickets dropped to 77 each way and I jumped on them a few weeks ago! Plus, you have to add to choose your seats, and because I didn't want the kids to not be sitting with us, this is a must.
Our Undercover Tourist 8 day Park Hoppers arrived TODAY! That is very exciting! The trick now is to not lose them in the next 6 1/2 months!

Congrats! :cheer2: That's an even better price than I got! Ours came out high, but dropped to $79 the second day they were out, so I jumped on that. They have only gone up from there. We wanted to fly AirTran but our there is not Fri flights from MCO back home. And it says that the Sat flight is either sold out or not being sold yet. We were already considering adding the night, so a Sat flight would have been fine. I am guessing its sold out since its Thanksgiving weekend. Bummer! We are going to keep a eye on Allegiant Air and see what they offer when the dates open. If not, looks like we are driving again!

But some great news, our county school district decided to go back to the old Thanksgiving schedule and give the kids the full week off instead of Wed, Thur and Fri! So now, my kids won't have to miss any school. Yeah! I was having some serious issues with pulling them out. But since so many kids are out those 2 days, they never do anything but watch movies, do arts and crafts, music or gym, I was trying to not worry. Now its a non-issue!

I just checked Air Tran again and they don't have anything up yet for the return date. It ought to be soon. I've been keeping an eye on this because DD will fly from NC. I just want to get the tickets and then I'm set.

What airline do you use? Just curious...we use Continental and I wait until about 3 months out....

We booked with JetBlue. I usually wait until 3 or 4 months out as well but flight cost's seem really high this year so I just went ahead and booked. We still ended up with a really good rate.

We are waiting to book southwest -- not sure when that booking window will open.. Last i checked , it was up to Oct. 30th -- anyone know when they will open for november?

Someone helped me out with this earlier, so I'll pass it along. SW's website says "We are currently accepting air reservations through October 30, 2010. On June 10, we will open our schedule for sale through January 7, 2011. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently."

I am also hoping to get a SW flight (we love the direct flight from Providence to Orlando). I bookmarked the "Travel Tips" page: http://www.southwest.com/travel_center/travel_center_tips.html?int=GFOOTER-CUSTOMER-TRAVEL-TIPS (and I check it every couple of weeks!)

Woohoo!!!!! That's exciting news right there.

I'm still gathering my thoughts for our ADRs. I think we're going to do Narcoosie's the night we get there. That way, we can check in, rest a bit, change clothes and go eat a late supper. Hoping for a ressie around 7, I think.

The next day, we'll do Epcot, and we'll probably try to do Garden Grill for lunch and Coral Reef for supper.

Haven't gotten beyond that yet! :)

Not exactly sure. . . I am going to leave 6 of our 8 days open for either Epcot or DHS. We are only going to MK & AK one day each. I see Fantasmic is only showing 2X my week - Sunday and Thursday. . . Of course this will probably all change as we get closer, it did last year.

When you are on the calendar just click on each individual date and it will list Fantasmic if it is showing that night. . . And keep checking as your trip gets closer, they have been known to add showings as it gets closer!
