Sorry, but very sad news [Archive] - The DIS Discussion Forums

One of our newer Dis'ers, poundcake, who usually lurked and posted on the cruise board, has passed away. She was the wife of one of the engineers on our fire department and was only 28 y/o I think. I told her about all the info I got here and helped her and her husband book their June cruise and stay at WL. They really had a good time and she frequently talked about how the Dis community was able to answer a lot of questions she had.
I know she was not here on the cb very much but I knew you would all understand.

How sad. I went back to look at her last post (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=1862948#post1862948) here on the DIS. She seemed so excited about her cruise. My condolences to her family and to you Steve.

Unfortunately, Richa, suffered some complications from Phen-Fen and did have some health issues. She had a surgical procedure on Saturday and the sugeons were unable to stop the bleeding. She went back to surgery today and was on the way to Intensive Care when her pressure dropped and she went into cardiac arrest and they were unable to get her back due to the damage in her heart from the drug. It is so sudden, we are just so shocked. Her and her husband sat at our table just last weekend at the wedding we went to and she was so happy.

That Phen Phen was just such bad news. I have a friend who will forever have heart problems from taking that awful drug.

My sincere sympathy for your loss, and to this young woman's family.

It is ashame that our society puts so much pressure on us about our appearance and that a beautiful person has been lost to a drug that too many woman took thinking that it would make them "look" more appealing or be healthier. It really upsets me that many people trusted their doctors and took this drug. I write this with tears in my eyes for this woman and her family because I believe that the main purpose of our bodies is to act as a vessel for our souls until they are called upon from above; and sadly, this drug has caused some people's souls to leave us way too early. (This drug was "offered" to me by my Dr. because "he" was upset by my weight. I thank God that I declined on an offer that I did not seek and only wish more people had declined their well-intended dr.'s offers as well.)

I hope that her loved ones can find comfort in all the expressions of sympathy posted to this board.

I just went in to my emails and searched several that her and I had before both her June cruise and my May WDW. I was hoping she would be able to attend one of our frequent Chicago DIS meets, and new as she was, was trying to make her feel comfortable. And now she is gone. :( So very sad.

My prayers are with her and her family. My best for you.

Thanks, Steve, for letting us know. It IS nice to know that she had some fun (in June) and, shared her fun with all those around her (at the wedding) before she passed away. I'll bet she was a very special (young) Lady! I'm sure she will be sorely missed. :(
