are these active when you get them or do you activate them at any time?

Activate them at any time. We got ours last January and activated them this January.

thank you! do they expire??? DH and i plan on moving to FL in about 3 or 4 years and was hoping to activate them then.

I don't think so. That's the way I understand it.
