Just back from my seven day Magic cruise. Everything was perfectly flawless.

I have sailed on Royal Carrib and Holland America, both good lines, plus Carnival, and I have to tell you Disney has raised the bar on the industry. It was simply beautiful. At Ritz at sea, with Mickey as a bonus.

The security on the Magic was tight (dogs, scuba divers etc.) but unnoticible to guests.

The highlight was our departure from St. Thomas passing a big Carnival ship. We were all at the pool party topside, ships guests waving good bye at each other, our music was "Nah, nah, nah, nah, goood bye". Carnival blasts its horn, we blast ours "WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR". I am SOOOOOO glad we were on the ship and not on the other side enviously watching the Magic leave with Mickey and Minney leading the party crowd.

A perfect vacation. Thank you Disney.

Glad you had fun, and I know exactly what you mean!
We have done 4 on RCCL vs. 23 on Disney. Our last RCCL cruise was to Alaska, and although it was great, I couldn't help continually comparing it to Disney. The Mouse has really spoiled us.

How exciting. On our cruise they had to move the deck party indoors due to rain. Still fun, but oh how I can't wait to hear, "When you wish upon a star," as we pull away from St. Thomas. How can that not make the other ships passengers a little green with envy!!;)

The first time I heard the horn playing "When You Wish Upon A Star" while the Carnival cruisers watched and went, "Aaahhh," I actually got tears in my eyes! It really is such a magic moment!

I had to laugh when I read these posts about the "When You Wish Upon A Star" horn sound on the Disney ship! When we went on our first Disney cruise, my husband wanted desperately to catch that unique sound on our video camera. So, there he was, for every port entry and exit, on our verandah (which is where he is each and every time we are in the cabin), videotaping anything and everything to catch the horn on tape. He would wait sometimes for 30 minutes or more and finally, when he would give up, invariably the horn would immediately sound -- too late to catch it. It became the running gag for the remainder of the cruise and the subject we always brought up when we got home!

On the last cruise, we didn't take the videocamera, so he still hasn't gotten that sound recorded. But, we're scheduled for the Western next May, so who knows...?? :p

The ship's horn is also sounded every day at noon.

I seem to remember that the horn that blows at Noon is just a loud blaring sound nad not the "When You Wish Upon A Star." But maybe I'm not remembering correctly...;)
