I have been active on the forum now for about a month and have meet some really great people on here.:grouphug:

This is my first ever trip report and I am looking forward to working on it. I am a little late in starting this but better late than never right?

We went to WDW last year for our anniversary, Late September and Early October, and had no idea it was also the International Food and Wine Festival.

I had read here on the boards a little about the event and how much fun everyone was having planning for their trips.

We stayed at Jambo House in AKV, Concierge Level. We had the best time and really enjoyed ourselves. We even had dinner to celebrate our anniversary at Victoria and Albert’s.

So we decided that we had so much fun and the Wine and Food Festival that we would go again this year. We also planned to take a 7 day cruise out of Ft Lauderdale after wards.

We have booked AKV Jambo House for October 12-17th We have CL for every night except the 14th, we are wait listed for that night.

I have one ADR for Jiko now...:surfweb:

So we convinced DH's sister and her husband to go with us on the cruise, and they decided to come to the food and wine festival for two days also. This is their first time to AKL and to F&WF.

We talked about it so much that they gave in and are now coming with us.:goodvibes

We also convinced my Aunt and Uncle to go with us on the cruise, :cool1: have not got them to the F&WF just yet but i am trying.:wizard:

182 days today until our trip begins... it seems that I might not get my missing day at AKL CL. In our 7th month window I called to get 5 days at AKL CL. Oct 12-17, 2010. For some reason the 14th was all booked so I was only able to get Oct 12th and 13th and CL and then the 14th - 17th at a standard room. They asked me to call back on the 14th to see if anything had changed and maybe the rooms had opened up. I went on a waitlist for the 14th -17th at CL. On the 14th I called back and no luck the rooms were all booked at CL. So again on the 15th I call back and am able to CL for the 15th thru the 17th of October.

So right now I have a reservation for AKL Jambo House CL for Oct 12th and 13th. A reservation for a standard room at AKL Jambo house for the 14th and wait listed for the CL on the 14th and finally another reservation for the AKL Jambo House CL October 15th - 17th.

Has anyone ever had a split reservation like this?

Hi! I just realized by the talk about Kim's possible PTR that you have one going, so I hopped over here!

Cruise and AKV sounds great!! :goodvibes I hope your waitlist will come through, that would be really annoying if you had to move out of your accomodations for one night... :confused3

Where are your DH's sister and BIL staying?

Flossbolna, thanks for stopping by, I am really not very good at this. I have never written one before and can't seem to stay on top of it.

I really hope that the waitlist comes through also. I can't imagine having to change rooms twice, being in three differnt rooms in the same place, but at least I am there at AKL and will enjoy myself no matter what.

My DH's sister and BIL will be coming in for the last two night only. The will be staying with us, We got the one bedroom so they get the pull out couch. I am sure they will have a great time. They were only coming for the cruise portion to being with but I finally talked her into coming for the food and wine festival.

So to get them there I had to let them stay with us. Since it is really just DH and I for the first three days I am sure we will be ok with it.

DH's sister and BIL have been to WDW before but never on property. Hoping they have a great time, because I know that we will have a wonderful time.

Thanks again for stopping by the trip report.

On the way home last night from the train, in a light rain, my DH was rear ended and pushed into the car in front of him.

he was sandwiched in between both cars, he drives a small pickup and the rear end is damaged pretty good and light damage on the front.

He was stopped at a red light and had left plenty room between him and the car in front of him, so thankful, that cushion is what saved him from more pain and damage. The air bags did not deploy b/c he did not hit the first car hard enough.

The woman who hit him said that her foot just slipped off the brake pedal and she could not stop her car.

She had the same insurance as us and the claims have already been registered and the adjuster is coming over to our house today to assess the damage to the truck. I am so not in the mood to buy another vehicle.
Hopefully they will not total it.

He is very sore and stiff this morning and a little nauseated (I hope that is from the weather and his allergies). He is being monitored and will update more later.

Well, we had the xray's and they all came back negative. The Dr said he is having neck and lower back spasms and prescribed some muscle relaxers. they are not helping much with the pain but hopefully they will kick in soon.

Well today is 168 days from arriving at WDW and AKL Jambo House. I wished I could be on permanent vacation…. That would require that we win the lottery, and since we never play it would be hard for us to win.:confused3

Anyway, David is recovering from the car accident; :thumbsup2they finally put him on Vicodin (acetaminophen and hydrocodone). He is finally able to sleep and get the rest he needs; he is having surgery on Thursday, for his feet and will be on short term disability for 6 weeks. He is not allowed to walk or stand on his feet for any length of time for the first three weeks and no driving for 6 weeks. Luckily I have a great understanding boss and work environment that will allow me to work from home most of the time he will be out.:surfweb:

We have decided that since we will be enjoying all of the wonderful food at the Food and Wine Festival, that we will forgo any ADR’s except I am trying to talk DH into Boma for at least one night!

I also am not sure that we will do any of the safari’s either, I think we are strictly going for the food and wine and relaxing the other days!:woohoo:

Well DH ended up having surgery last Thursday on his feet… I have stayed home from work with him and he is recovering nicely. The Dr thinks it will take 6 weeks total for him to recover, they took his big toes off, cleaned them up and put them back. He is able to get up and walk to the bathroom and back to the couch and that is about it now. Looking forward to healing and movement, good thing we don’t go to Disney for a 158 days.

Side trip to Charleston, SC

Well the job sent me to Charleston, SC for a week of training, since DH was still recovering from surgery and not allowed to drive or go back to work, I decided to drive down and bring him along. He could stare at the walls in the hotel just as easy as he could stare at the walls in Charleston.
It is 562 miles, we left at 5:40 in the morning, drove around Washington, DC and then on to Charleston. Made two pit-stops and were here by 2:15pm. It was not a bad trip at all, I was thankfully that DH was able to walk a little bit and get in and out of the car.

We are staying at a Homewood Suites, in North Charleston; the staff has been great so far. When we arrived, they asked if had every stayed with them before, we said yeas for a week last year, that got us bumped up to the real suites… Our room is huge, it has 1 king suite and another with 2 queen beds, along with two full size baths, DVD players and a full kitchen.

Anyway, we finally got settled in, went to a local BBQ joint and had dinner, came back to the room and fought very hard not to go to sleep. I had to attend training the next morning but did not want to be at 3 AM. SO we watched TV, laughed and just enjoyed the time together.

Monday morning off to work I go and DH hangs out at the suite. Same thing on Tuesday, except after dinner we go to a place called Shem Creek, a very nice family owned seafood place and I had an Oyster Martini, it was Vodka shaken with Cocktail Sauce and a raw oyster. It was GREAT….. Dinner was shrimp and grits for me and DH had feast (it was everything). Wednesday was replayed as Monday. Thursday work was work but we made it out to a Baseball game, the Charleston River Dogs, they are a Yankees team and being that I am a Braves fan, we decided to cheer for the other team, The Savannah Gnats, well turns out they are a Mets team so back to the Dogs we go. The game was a good one, tied until the bottom of the 8th 2 to 2, then the final score was 2 to 4 and the Dogs loose. Oh well we got to enjoy the baseball game, I also got a baseball from the bull pin… Friday back to work and all packed up for the drive to Lumberton, NC for the night.

On the drive after work, we stopped at a place called Smith’s on exit 98 of I95 for some local wine and cider. DH had never had Muscadine wine so we bought a bottle of Duplin winery Muscadine called Magnolia (http://www.duplinwinery.com/index.php?page=wines&wines=3&parent=2&winename=Magnolia). We made it to Lumberton, NC around 7:30, the front desk sent us to a place called Smithfield’s (http://scnbnc.com/) Chicken for some fried chicken, DH was craving Fried Chicken… Anyway it was the best fried chicken I had ever had; it had a lot of pepper in the batter. Then meat was very juicy, side were hush puppies, coleslaw and French fries. They served it with a gallon of tea (unsweet for us) for under $20 pretty good. Our son is a huge North Carolina fan, so we stopped by the store and bought enough shirts, shorts, caps to last a year of gift giving… Spent the night at Hampton Inn, and shared the bottle of wine.

Up early the next morning and finished the drive back home, only took about 6 hours.

Home sweet home, nothing like being in your own bed.

Well it was really neat that David was able to get tickets to the Brooks and Dunn concert here in DC on August 1st.

The concert was supposed to be in June but Mr. Brooks got sick and they canceled, so the new date was this past Sunday. David was able to get them from a co-worker that got transferred to Hawaii on July.

Anyway, long story short, we make it there and find out that we have Mega Passes, which get us into some VIP area, with free food, nothing that is on my diet but I can't pass up free food, I mean come on....

So the pavilion is called "Jiffy Lube Live" and it is open air, for some reason we got this beautiful break in the weather and Sunday night at concert time it is 82 degrees, with heavy cloud cover, with the temp dropping to the low 70's.

Our seats are in the second section from the stage, pretty close and a section of the stage juts out to about 10 rows in front of us.....

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/BandD/LastRodeoImage.jpg

Gary Allen opens the show and he is great, I forgot I knew so many of his songs... The music is so loud, you can't hear anything. He is truly rocking the crowd, David and I keep looking at each other saying this is Country music? Sounds more like the rock-n-roll I was listening to in college...

Here is Gary Allen.....

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/BandD/BD3.jpg

Since they are splitting up, it was really cool that David took me to see them. They put on a wonderful concert and we got to celebrate our 46th month anniversary with B&D watching B&D in concert.

(try not to laugh too hard at my being silly)

So DH and I were talking about the DVC discount on APs and if it would be cheaper for us to go ahead and get APs then to purchase our tickets thru the MWR office at the Pentagon.

We finally made a decision, buying the APs before the price increase tomorrow.

We will be there for 5 days this year during the food and wine festival, plus 4 days in May for graduation, then we will come again next year for the food and wine festival before our 366 days are up. Yep, the CM told us that the passes are really good for 366 days. I am so excited, this is my first time to have Annual Passes..... :woohoo:

Hi Brandi - today I noticed your link to this PTR :surfweb:
Your trip sounds GREAT. I can tell from your plans that it's going to be a fun time :cool1:
I hope you'll get your room situation worked out. Are you saying that you have a 1-bedroom CL in Jambo + 1 night in AKL std room + the rest of your stay in a 1-bedroom CL in Jambo? Even if you DO have to move twice, and stay in 3 different rooms/villas, at least you are not moving out of the building PLUS you will have the CL lounge which makes a BIG difference during split stays in general.
You are a newlywed! Hadn't caught that until now. Very sweet :lovestruc

I look forward to reading more. How is your husband's foot/feet doing?? That sounds so scary about his toes :scared1: Poor guy!

Thanks for stopping by.... I have not been very good about posting here, so maybe I will get better as time is getting closer. :rolleyes1

As for the room I checked again yesterday for maybe the 100th time and we are still waitlisted for the middle day, so right now we are CL Jambo House for the first two nights, standard room at Jambo House for the 1 night and then back to CL Jambo House for the last two night.

So 4 out of 5 is not too bad, but I really hate packing and unpacking my room, I wished we could just stay put for the whole trip. Keeping my fingers crossed that it comes in.

But I will try and look at on the bright side that you pointed out, at least I get to see 3 different rooms.....

This is the second marriage for both of us, but yes we will be celebrating 4 years together at WDW.... :yay:

DH's feet are doing better, since he is learning all over again how to walk correctly, there is a lot of pain and soreness in the Physical Therapy and he complains about it but he is doing much better. He really did very well through the whole thing...

Thanks again for stopping by...

Glad to hear your hubby is doing well. That's very tough.

Your room situation will be fine - it will be neat to check out different rooms, should you not get that middle night added. Maybe pack in a way that makes the transitions a bit easier (this is what I try and do when we do split stays, which we do often.)

You ARE going to Jiko, right? I recommend sitting at the Cooking Place (the bar in the center of the restaurant) sometime. Very different experience in that you face the chefs who are prepping the first courses and can chat with them and learn a lot :flower3:

I'm dying to be at AKL right now :sad1:

Packing options might be the trick, since we are leaving for the cruise right from the resort, it might make that part easier also. With doing laundry and packing up.... Thanks for the idea.

I know this is going to sound bad, but we have not made any ADRs.....

Last year was our first year at Food and Wine Festival, and we ate so much at the different countries around the world that we hardly ate dinner.

I hate to make a reservation and then not go or be so full that we don't enjoy it.

We took the tour last year of both restaurants there in Jambo house and they were amazing and beautiful and everyone was so wonderful.

Maybe we could go for appetizers one night and a cocktail.

Thanks to johnsonet I just found out that I can email the CL people and ask for help in planning my trip. It amazes me sometime how little I have know before and spent so much time there at WDW.

Anyway, I explained my one night not in CL and hopefully they can help.

I also asked them to get us a dinner reservation at Jiko in the Cooking Place for a special dinner for the two of us.

I am looking forward to this trip more than any other since I started being a part of this amazing community on the boards. Everyone keeps the dream alive and makes it so special.

Thank you all.

You are SO welcome. I hate that you didn't know about the IPO services before now?? Call and add your email address to your name/reservation so that you will be contacted next time. Perhaps you can even set this up on-line?

Guess what? I'm hoping to be there in October as well. If our dates coincide and you have some free time, maybe we can meet :flower3:

63 days and counting till our next trip to AKL.....

So I got a wonderful email from Don last night telling me that there is really nothing that can be done about my reservation from his side of the house and that he hopes it gets fixed prior to our arrival.

I was pretty bummed about the room changes while I was there but I am trying to be positive about the whole thing so at least we are going to be in AKL for 6 and 5 nights....

He was able to get my reservation for Jiko while we are there and just like Johnsonet told me, all I have to do is request the Cooking Place when I get there.:thumbsup2

I made the ressie for the middle of our stay, before my SIL and BIL arrive so it can be just my DH and I.

We have also decided to go ahead and pick up the TiW card. We will be there 3 times this year together and I might have 2 conferences for work in the Orlando area before the end of the year!:dance3:

If I go for a conference I might have to use the APs and the TiW just cause I can.... It will be weird without my DH there but I think I can do it....:rolleyes1

Thanks again for everyone's help...:cheer2:

Well the day has come to get an official release from the Dr.

David's surgeon has official released him from his care, he only has to come back if there is a problem. So far everything seems to be going well, but he is very sore.

It seems that he was walking on the sides of his feet or the outside of his feet for so long, to keep from hurting that the muscles atrophied on him. Since he has been walking again correctly it is pretty painful to use those muscles again that have been dormant for so long.

Everyday he is getting better and I hope that he will be ready for EPCOT, or I will be pushing him around in a wheelchair.... because I am NOT missing a day there.... That or I could fill him up on wine and he will not hurt near as bad :rolleyes1

But all in all a very good outcome and so glad that we got it done and over with.

Sorry IPO can't help with the room reservation but, as you said, you gotta stay positive  It's going to be a lot of fun no matter HOW many rooms you "have" to stay in ;)

I hope you'll love Jiko - I know you will. And I'm glad you're going w/ just your DH. That's what's most fun about sitting at The Cooking Place. It's also great for those dining solo :)

I hope your DH bounces back now that he knows he can't walk on the outsides of his feet. Poor guy, I can certainly understand that. Hopefully the pain of walking "properly" will ease as he gets stronger.

YAY on your TiW card  You won't regret it.

Hi Brandi!

Johnsonet mentioned that you were doing a PTR so I thought I would join in. AKL is our favorite WDW resort.

Can't wait to read more about your trip! :goodvibes

Thanks Kathy for stopping by. I have only stayed at AKL once and I LOVED it but I am finding out something new everyday.

Please comment or post any ideas you might have. They are always helpful.

I missed you all this weekend, was extremely busy with all kinds of things....

First David and I took his daughter into DC with us on Friday for half a day of work and then half a day of the National Portrait Gallery... I went to see Elvis.... My all time fav, there was an Exhibit, but of course most of the places, you could not take Photos, So I am limited on these...

It was so hot and humid, I could hardly stand to be out there.

My family is crazy but I love them, there is a whole long story to go with it but these two are my step kids. They look just like their father, it is uncanny....

But I have been raising them so the son even calls me mom, the daughter does not she calls me Brandi.

But they are mine....

We are always off doing something or going some where... too busy sometimes, it is hard for me to stay on top of the planning.

It happens all the time, everyone thinks they are mine and that he is a step dad, i think is it funny, sometimes it bothers him...

I think it is just they way we get along, we are ALL in it together, no matter what we do.

He even got DVC tickets to see the Lion King on Broadway.

I am so excited. I have been to NYC before but always as a day trip, never to spend the night and never in Winter.

This is going to be amazing, to see Rockefeller Center dressed up for Christmas and the Tree all light up. T see the amazing windows all decked out for the holidays.

This is going to be wonderful!

Oh and did I mention that the tickets for Lion King are 3rd row center........:lovestruc :worship:

So I think I might have mentioned that my DD is 17.....UGHHHHHHH

Well she has never really cared about driving, until this year, so she has been studying and sitting in the car and making sure she knows where everything is.

We went to the Go karting place for her first ever driving experience. She has never driven anything I think she is kinda scared, but excited at the same time.

Your daughter is gorgeous. How funny that she's 17 and only now interested in driving! :car: I guess it's different when you live in the city ;) There is so much public transportation around here you can get almost anywhere and never drive. Which can be good or bad. but I love it b/c I hate the traffic.

Too cute about your husband and his competitive putt putt :rotfl: I learned back when we were dating to never play a game with him. We can't even play cards or bingo, he hates to lose and I love to bet him! So it makes for a dangerous combo. He is even worse at bowling! :confused3

How are your AKL plans coming along? With the back to school plans and senior pictures and oldest son graduating college, I have no had much time to work on the AKL plans. I am hoping that the seminar and demo schedule for food and wine festival comes out soon so I can make those plans. We both want to do a couple of things but the world will not stop if we don't get them.

Is your cruise before, after or in the middle of your AKL/AKV stay?
The cruise is after WDW, I was hoping that we could have arranged it to be after the cruise but our schedule was already getting things to do in it, so many people plan far in advance that we had to go to WDW first. We are renting a car there on property and driving down to Ft Lauderdale and boarding the cruise then flying back from Ft Lauderdale.

Only 50 days left until I am back at AKL.......:yay:

Morning everyone,

Well today is a good day on my countdown clock, only 49 days left for me before vacation time starts!!!!!!

David and I went to the Chesapeake Crab and Beer Festival this past Saturday at the National Harbour and it was amazing. We had more fun than we should have, but I was the DD for the days events, which was a big change for us....:D So I thought David was so funny! The chilled Tequila Bar is what really got him. Here is the link to the Festival http://mdcrabfest.com/

I forgot my camera so the only pictures I have are from his phone... Which aren't very good, but better than nothing.

I agree totally.... I always buy lump crab in the can and make our cakes....
Or get the fried soft shell.

Much easier, but this time that was the only way the crabs came, I gave up after 10 crabs, so DH keep picking for me...

So we could not wait to book again to come back, and we have already booked to come back next year. We just enjoy this adult time for us.

we were there for our anniversary, it is Oct 1st and will be 4 years this year.

Congrats on being newlyweds!

I am not originally from Maryland, I am here for DH. He has been here 17 years, moved here after he got out of the Army. I have been here for 6 years, but it is growing on me. Last winter when we had the back to back blizzards, we were in the Caribbean, so I joke with him that, the trip bought him some more time to get me out of here and back to the south, so he booked us another trip this coming Feb.:woohoo:

Picking crabs is not my favorite thing, but he picks enough for both of us, except at this festival, I had to pick my own......:sad2:

Well DH and I decided to do a B'More Beer Week event right before heading down to WDW.

http://www.bbweek.com/images/layout/logo.png

Thursday Oct 7, 2010 6-8pm

Join us in celebrating all things beer in the land of pleasant living at the 2010 Baltimore Beer Week Opening Tap Party!

The highlight of this event will be the celebrity tapping of the First Firkin provided by our Flagship Sponsor. This special firkin of Heavy Seas Loose Cannon will be the same recipe which won the 2010 Great British Beer Fest CAMRA award. Boog Powell will pass the 'Star Spangled Banger' over to Duff Goldman of Ace of Cakes. Don't miss this unique opportunity to meet founders, brewers, pub owners and pioneers of the craft beer movement.

Enjoy beer tastings from our sponsors, including hard to find beers and special releases, all served in a keepsake commemorative glass. Attendees will also receive a special Baltimore Beer Week Passport Book. Tapas provided by Mother's of Federal Hill.

For those of you who don't know Boog Powell is a famous Baseball player who played with the Baltimore Orioles, during the glory years.... Duff Goldman is a chef and owner of Ace of Cakes as seen on the food network... Duff also created my wedding Cake and Grooms Cake in 2006. We are excited about going.... Kick off to Food and Wine.

So we went with a black wedding cake, and the design matches the design on my dress in edible silver paint. The grooms cake was a Texas A&M Bone fire cake complete with an outhouse on top, we even set it on fire and then ate it.

thanks alot..... more than anything we are happy, it is kinda weird everyone told me growing up that opposites attract, but we are just alike. We almost finish each others sentences and we like the same things, plus we were friends long before anything else so I think that helps.

the cake being black had one draw back... Everyone who ate a piece had a dark purple tongue afterwards, so in some of the pictures everyones mouth is purple... Made for funny pictures.

I hope we have a low key weekend too...I have a ton to get done around the house.

I'm taking DS to a baseball game on Labor day too! We are going to the Phillies Vs Marlins.

What part of MD do you live in? I grew up outside of Frederick.

I've been away for a bit - but am enjoying catching up with you :)

I've booked my trip! But we'll be at Beach Club instead of AKL. I couldn't get CL :( and really wanted it. Got such a good deal on BC that I couldn't resist, especially since it's DD's new favorite and we'll be next door to Epcot for Food & Wine stuff. Hopefully we can still meet up :flower3:

Hi!

I'm also in Maryland, near your neck of the woods actually.

Your plans look awesome; I'm even a bit envious! I love cruises (only did one... and eloped during the cruise), bay crabs (even picking them), baseball, and pretty much everything else you've done! :lmao:

We're going on our very first trip in 3 weeks and I can't wait!

So the game starts, and the top of the first does not start well, the Met's score 2 runs on a error that should have had the inning over with.

In the top of the 3rd inning the Mets score again... now 3 - 0. in the bottom of the 3rd, Espinosa scores for the Nats... now 3-1.

In the bottom of the 4th inning the pitcher walks two, and then Pudge Rodriguez doubles to score 2 runs now 3-3,

then Morse singles and brings in Pudge so now the score is 3-4 Nats... still only 1 out. now 2 out, Mench walks, Morgan singles and brings in Morse, now 3-5. Kennedy hit by pitch,(loads bases), Ryan Zimmerman walks,

Bottom of the 6th inning, Kennedy doubles, Dunn walks,

no matter where we are, on business travel or vacation we always find a stadium somewhere and watch a game, we have even watched high school. My DH played baseball in college at Texas A&M and was drafted but the Blue Jays, but he went into the Army instead, so we take baseball very serious... :rotfl:

We are both under 30 days now..... I am sooo ready for a vacation.

Camden is great, we always take the light rail up, and it makes it so easy. Love that Baseball, we tend to hang out at Pickles Pub before the games.

This last time we sat in the 2110 Eutaw Street section, and got the t-shirt, ball toss deal for under $20 a person, it was a lot of fun!

Just found your PTR! I feel your pain with the split stay. We were originally booked for 7 nights at the VWL but when we decided to add 2 more nights they were full so we are at AKL for the first two. No complaints b/c we LOVE it over there but with two toddlers it's a pain to move resorts...I didn't bother waitlisting b/c we have two other rooms for inlaws and I could only waitlist two rooms at a time. Oh well. We have done it before..we just don't unpack as much as we usually do.

Sunrise Safari Breakfast Adventure is exclusive to concierge guests staying at our resort. It is offered on Thursdays and Sundays. The safari starts at 6:30 A.M. if the park opens at 8 A.M. & it starts at 7:30 A.M. if the park opens at 9 A.M..

You would meet in the concierge lounge at 6:15 A.M. or 6:45 A.M., depending on park hours & will check-in at the concierge desk. The concierge will scan your park admission into the park which is required to participate in this experience.

An animal programs cast member will be meeting our guests in the Sunset Overlook to give a run down of the morning's activities. You will then take a private bus, which will go through some of the backstage areas at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

You will then walk over to the Kilimanjaro Safari attraction and board the first jeep onto the savanna. You will be able to ask the animal programs cast member questions and there will be frequent stops for you to take pictures. The safari will last from 45 minutes to 1 hour long. Afterwards you will have a delicious breakfast buffet that awaits you.

You are free to go about your day, at this point. If you would like to go back to the resort, you will take the regular bus back.

The cost is $65.00 for adults and $32.50 for children 3 to 9. There is a 48 hour cancellation policy. The unpaved roads of Harambe Wildlife Reserve pass through rough and rugged terrain. For your safety you should be in good health and free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness or other conditions that could be aggravated by this adventure. Expectant mothers should not ride. If you have special needs (wheelchair or scooter) or dietary needs, please let us know so that we may accommodate you.

Safaris are may be subject to minimum booking requirements. All charges are posted as a room charge. No meal packages can be used to pay for this event. Can be booked up to 180 days prior to your arrival.

I take it you're not on the DDP plan so they are able to be on the reservation? I wasn't able to put my BIL on ours when he comes up for two nights b/c we have the DDP. I already told him he won't even have room keys and will have to take an extra one of ours for the weekend since he isn't "technically" even there. But if your BIL is on the reservation then he would have his own cards and I assume he would be able to put his credit card on his keys. But you know what assuming does........................:rotfl:

My BIL and SIL are both listed on the reservation, so they get ME tickets. No we are not on the DDP, too many F&W things going on and we always fill up at the booths...

So maybe I will hear back from IPO and figure out what we can do....

My DH, brother to my SIL, said, "Not that I don't trust them... I just don't want them tied to our Credit Card" :rolleyes1

Well it is official, only 13 days until I am back at WDW... I am so ready for a vacation.

So my wedding anniversary is this Friday, and we have NEVER been home for anniversary. We have always been away on vacation. So this is a challenge I have, what to do to celebrate?

I was thinking of a nice dinner on the porch at sunset with a wonderful bottle of wine but I am just not sure....

Anyone got any ideas?

It is so funny that I came across this. My husband and I will be there October 16-18 for our anniversary (without the kids :scared1: ) First time to the world without them :(

Anyway, my husband came home on Monday and said we are going. :yay: We have never been there without kids and I just found out that it is the FWF. We are excited. Our 11th Anniversary is on the 16th and I made ressies at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. I really wanted the restaurant at BayLake Tower. So we will see what the coming days hold.

I am glad I came across this. Now, off to do more research about the Food & Wine event. Have Fun!!

so I got an answer back....

Thank you with your question about room charges. At this time our hotel system does not have the ability to take two credit cards at the same time. This will be changing in the near future but not soon enough for your visit. Each room key, however, has a separate identifier. So the night before you leave you can get a copy of your room account and tally up who should pay for what then have the concierge desk take payment so your account is cleared.

At your service,

Hey, Brandi! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! party: Come up with any other ideas for celebrating? With all the rain we've gotten in the past couple days, you might need a boat out on your porch for dinner - LOL!! I'm trying to remember what DH and I did for our anniversary in March, but I'm having a hard time remembering . . . is that bad!?!??!?! :sad2:

I think your idea of a nice dinner with - hopefully - a sunset sounds great. You can certainly celebrate more at Disney. In fact, my birthday was last week, but you'd better believe I'm going to continue the celebration while we're there!

Hope you and your DH have a WONDERFUL day! :goodvibes

Thank you so much for remembering....

I agree all this rain and I might better off with a row boat....

There is a jet ski in the garage, that could be fun :scared1:

I am still not sure what we are going to do, I will think of something, hopefully!

Ok 1 week (7 days) from today I will at WDW and AKL CL

I am so excited about going and I can't wait really, I wish I was leaving today and would be there until the 17th...

Anyway, I am surprised by how calm I am, I am usually very nervous/excited, like I am forgetting something, like I might have missed something, but this trip just seems so relaxed, like everything is in place.

I am just surprised by the feel of it.;)

My DH called me from the train this morning to tell me that he only had 3 more morning rides left before vacation.... I think he is ready too.:rolleyes1

Day one of vacation October 12- Tuesday

Out of the house at 5:45 AM drove to the airport, and went through security easy enough, got to our gate B8 and waited for the plane.

The plane was on time and we landed right on time in Orlando, at 9:55 AM.

Right to the Magical Express, it was very easy. Brought us to Animal Kingdom Villa’s – Jambo House, the Concierge CM Greeter was waiting outside the lobby for us, and escorted us to the bell hop area to drop off our bag. Then she walked us to the Elevator and brought us up to the 6th floor.
We were checked in very quickly, I had checked us in online and that seemed to make it very easy.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0001.jpg
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0002.jpg

Our room was not ready but she told us that we would be in 6202, the same room we were in last year; funny we did not even request it.

So we headed to Animal Kingdom Park, the bus was waiting for us when we got there and the trip was very quick.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0003.jpg

We walked up to will call, and got our Annual Passes, which is so cool, the woman there gave us “Happy Anniversary” pins to wear….Then we entered the park, walked to guest relations and picked up our Tables In Wonderland card.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0005.jpg

As soon as we walked to the park, there was a kiosk that was selling Jalapeño and Cheese stuffed pretzels; so we had to try it, it was pretty good, the cheese was very soft and good and the peppers were good too. We enjoyed it…$4.29.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0008.jpg
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0009.jpg

Then we headed for the Mt Everest ride and it was a 20 minute wait, no bad at all, the ride was great, then we jumped into the single rider line and rode again. We had fun

Next was Dinosaur, there was a 60 minute wait, so we picked up a fast pass for 2:00pm and stood in line to ride, it took 45 minutes and the ride was fun, we made faces for the picture, when the ride ended it was 2:01 and we headed for the fast pass line, and rode again.

We relaxed for a little bit and tried to figure out what we were going to do and we decided to wait for the finger foods and then head to EPCOT. So at 5 they brought the food out, we picked up some cheeses and beer and some finger foods. We sat on the porch and watched some of the animals; we had Zebra’s, Giraffe’s and Eland’s. The 5 country cheddar cheese was wonderful, the humus was great.

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0078.jpg

We picked up a Banner Bag for the America Pavilion, which has the Crawfish and flur de lay and Pin and a Gift Card to purchase the food and drinks.

As we left the festival center we passed the 15 beers for 15 years first, and decided to pass on that this time around. The first country we got to was New Zealand, http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0088.jpg
and we tried the Seared Sea Scallop with Vegetable Slaw and Lemon Oil, the onions in the slaw were very raw and very strong, so overpowering. The scallop was cooked perfectly and seasoned lightly and it was huge, 3 inches in diameter. We also had the Lamb Slider with Tomato Chutney, The lamb was cooked perfectly and seasoned perfectly, the bun was hard, almost old tasting and the Chutney was way too sweet, we scrapped it off, just too sweet.

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0090.jpg
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0091.jpg

The next country was Greece.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0092.jpg
We had the Chicken Souvlaki with Tzatziki, cooked perfectly, the bread was soft and fluffy and the sauce was so good, I mean very good.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0095.jpg

Next we hit the Charcuterie & Cheese booth,
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0096.jpg

we had the Nueske’s Charcuterie Plate with Applewood smoked beef, Duck and Ham, the ham was the best, it was not salty at all, it was good, the beef was a little salty to us and the Duck was very bland, almost no taste at all. Then we had Cheese Fondue with Croutons and Roasted Potatoes, the potatoes we purple and yellow, and roasted wonderfully. The croutons were very soft and white bread. The Fondue was very strong, maybe a mix of Swiss and something else, but it was very strong, I would not recommend to someone.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0097.jpg

Canada was the next stop;
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0101.jpg

we had the Maple-Glazed Salmon with Lentil Salad. First, the salmon was perfect, seasoned perfect, and cooked perfectly. Wished that was the whole dish. The lentil’s were very sweet and tangy, maybe the sweet was from the maple syrup but the combo was not good.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0103.jpg

we stopped to listen to the Canada Rock Band for awhile, they were really good.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0104.jpg
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0106.jpg

Ireland was next;
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0110.jpg
we had the Lobster and Scallop Fisherman’s Pie, and the Warm Chocolate Lava Cake with Bailey’s Irish Crème Ganache. The Fisherman’s pie was very hot…. Burning your mouth hot. The Lobster was very think, about 1.5 inches cubed inside the pie and we had two pieces and there was something in the sauce like Nutmeg, it was different but good like you had to keep eating it (David licked the bowl). The cake was oh so good, like melt in your mouth and the sauce was wonderful, we licked the plate.

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%202010/DSC_0116.jpg

We came back to the resort, had a drink and dessert in the lounge.

Mexico was next
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandWine%20Day%202/DSC_0037.jpg

and we ordered the Tamal de Pollo, the masa was moist, the chicken was tender, flavorful and the tomatillo sauce was very nice.

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandWine%20Day%202/DSC_0039.jpg

We also ordered the Taco de Chilorio, the Chrizio was flavorful but very greasy, and I dropped the red/orange grease on my white shoe which really made me mad…

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandWine%20Day%202/DSC_0038.jpg

To drink we got a Passion Fruit Frozen Margarita, it was 12oz which is 4 oz bigger than any other drink out there.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandWine%20Day%202/DSC_0040.jpg

From here we detoured over to La Cava and decided to have the flight of tequila, the nice girl in the bar, told us the story and went over everything in the mural. She was very friendly and helped us to understand a lot, she brought over several types of tequila from behind the bar and brought us three different kinds to try and one had the tomato juice back, like the bloody Maria.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandWine%20Day%202/DSC_0041.jpg

We ordered the guacamole, it was made fresh right when we ordered it and the chips were very crisp.

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandWine%20Day%202/DSC_0044.jpg

From there we headed to Poland,
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandWine%20Day%202/DSC_0048.jpg

we ordered Golabki (Pork Stuffed Cabbage), it was tender and tangy, but very greasy.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandWine%20Day%202/DSC_0049.jpg

We also ordered Belvedere Strawberry Balsamic Chiller, it was like Frozen Strawberry Puree and Balsamic, the vinegar gave it a little bit of a bite.

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandWine%20Day%202/DSC_0050.jpg

Next stop was China, here we ordered the Black Pepper Shrimp with Sichuan noodles, the noodles were cooked very well, still tender but not mushy.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandWine%20Day%202/DSC_0052.jpg

The shrimp were slightly over cooked, and chewy, cooked in a tempura batter.

We also had the Carmel Ginger Ice Cream, it was very good, with many chunks of the Ginger in the Ice Cream.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandWine%20Day%202/DSC_0051.jpg

We stopped and watched the Chinese acrobats. They were really good as usual.

South Korea was next,
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandWine%20Day%202/DSC_0087.jpg

we ordered Lettuce Wraps with Roast pork and Kimchi Slaw, this meal was light, refreshing, with lots of ginger and sesame oil. We also ordered the Bohae Bokbunjajoo, which is a Black Raspberry Rice Wine, we liked the way this one tasted and was paired well for the slaw.

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandWine%20Day%202/DSC_0089.jpg
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandWine%20Day%202/DSC_0088.jpg

Next was South Africa,
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandWine%20Day%202/DSC_0091.jpg

we ordered the Seared Beef Tenderloin with Sweet Potato Puree and Mango Barbecue Sauce. The potato puree tasted like banana, I did not like it. The Beef tasted good, but was over cooked, and the sauce was tangy. Mostly it was not for us and we would not recommend it. It did not live up to last year.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandWine%20Day%202/DSC_0092.jpg

Singapore was the next stop,

here we ordered the Coconut Braised Beef Rangdang with jasmine Rice, All I could say about this one was Extremely Dry and Yuck. Their other item was a shrimp cake which we opted to not get since it did not look good.

After all of this we decided to go to the Brewer’s Collection and get the beer flight. We had the Schofferhofer Weizen which was clean and fruity (David’s Favorite), the Altenmunster Octoberfest which was flavorful and smooth (my favorite) and the Altenmunster Marzen which was effervescent and crisp.

I think my internet connection timed out while they were loading last night. They were there today. Great Food Porn! Finally I make it into someone's TR before they're done posting!

We stayed on concierge three years ago (I think after the cost of that trip is why we bought DVC) and they didn't have nearly as much out for the evening snacks. It's amazing how much you can save on breakfast eating up there!

You take great pictures, I can't wait to see more!

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%203%20Part%202/DSC_0327.jpg

This time we were having seared duck breast and succotash. It was ok but nothing wonderful.

After this we headed back to the resort and our new room, we had a 1 bedroom but it was not CL and on the 5th floor and long way down the hall.
It has been a long day already. And we have to change rooms and pick up our room keys and 5425 was our room number get ready and head for Jiko.

These guys were hanging around outside.

At Jiko we were able to sit at the Cooking Place and we were excited… The chef sent over some Crispy Beef Rolls for us to try and they were very good.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%203%20Part%202/DSC_0347.jpg

The staff there at the restaurant gave us a big card that they all signed and then the chefs signed them for us. There big ovens were pretty and glowing red from the heat, they were anywhere between 700 and 800 degrees.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%203%20Part%202/DSC_0348.jpg

We ordered a grilled Steak flatbread and it was placed in the oven and the bread was crispy and tasted fabulous.

David ordered the Oak grilled filet Mignon
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%203%20Part%202/DSC_0355.jpg

and I ordered the Braised Short Ribs, they chefs told me that they just put it back on the menu, the day before and that they braise them for 4 hours.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%203%20Part%202/DSC_0354.jpg

Both of the dishes were very tender and tasted wonderful. I had a nice glass of Cabernet but the couple net to me had us try the wine they had, it was called a Pinotage, and it fit David very well. We both really liked it.

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%203%20Part%202/DSC_0356.jpg

For dessert we got the “Three Sisters” a no sugar added dessert of Chocolate Pistachio Crème, Cheesecake with Vanilla crème Anglaise, and Madeleine with Strawberries and Cream, then the chef brought over a Crème Burlee made with Amarula for our anniversary.

We were so full after dinner, that we could hardly do anything else.

WOW, the sunrise safari looks like it was amazing! And that filet at Jiko that David had has my mouth watering!!! I didn't think that Jiko would be something that we would enjoy, but after your food porn, I am reconsidering. I can't wait to read more!

I must tell you that the food at Jiko was FABULOUS... The flat bread was so tasty, we both enjoyed it and David's filet was good but we both liked the Short Ribs the best, we shared both and the ribs won.

The Dessert was good but the Amarula Creme Brulee was the most decedent, smooth and creamy dessert.

Hope you decide to try it, it was really great.

It was very cute....

The Animal Keeper Chris that was our guide, was an Elephant Keeper in NYC prior to coming to WDW and was at WDW AK before coming over to the lodge. So he had great affection for them and you could tell in his descriptions and comments about the animals.

It really was a great adventure.

The normal ride is 15 minutes and it took us an hour and half. We spent a lot of time looking and enjoying the animals.

Day four of vacation October 15 – Friday

We got up and had breakfast in the CL lounge. After breakfast we called the bell service to come and get our luggage and store it for the day as we went out to the park. Food and Wine here we come.

First stop today was Germany,
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%204/DSC_0387.jpg

we had a glass of the Gunderloch Diva Spatlese Reisling,
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%204/DSC_0363.jpg

and we both enjoyed the wine.

Then on to Italy,
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%204/DSC_0364.jpg

here we had the Baked Ravioli
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%204/DSC_0366.jpg

and the meatballs
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%204/DSC_0367.jpg
and the dark Italian beer.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%204/DSC_0368.jpg

The ravioli had the best sauce; it was so creamy and rich.

After Italy we heard the Fife and Drum Corps playing and stayed to sing “God Bless America” and say the Pledge of Allegiance,

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%204/DSC_0369.jpg

next we headed to the Hops and Barley Market.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%204/DSC_0372.jpg

Here we had the Pecan Bread Pudding
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%204/DSC_0375.jpg

and paired it with a Sam Adams Cream Stout, the beer cut the sweetness of the pudding very well.

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%204/DSC_0376.jpg

The USA booth was next,
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%204/DSC_0378.jpg

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%204/DSC_0380.jpg

paired with the Red Stag Lemonade and we really liked these very much.

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%204/DSC_0382.jpg

Japan booth was next and
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%204/DSC_0386.jpg

here we had the Tuna Sensation,
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%204/DSC_0384.jpg

the Spicy Tuna Roll
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%204/DSC_0383.jpg

and the Hatsumago Sake (fruit smells and after taste)
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%204/DSC_0385.jpg

and David said that he liked the Sake which was a big shock…. He has never liked it before….The tuna sensation was fabulous, my favorite of the festival.

Chris and Mechelle have arrived at EPCOT and we saw them around Brazil and we helped them with the different countries and what we liked and did not.

We headed for the Festival Center, we had a Jim Beam Seminar and we were looking forward to this one. When we got there we found out that we were getting Knobb Creek, Canadian Club and Scotch for a whiskey Debate. I was not happy about the change but the guys here made it very funny. I found out that I really like Scotch after all, if I drink them the right way. Middle of the tongue not the front.

After the seminar we headed back to the Food and Wine and we stopped by Mexico to go back into the Tequila Bar, this time we got the Cucumber and Jalapeño margarita’s, along with the blue crab tostado appetizer; we got them to go and enjoyed them very much, later we discovered that they were pretty strong.

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%204/DSC_0413.jpg

They were not offering the Margarita flight during the F&W festival so I am hoping to try that in May and the Scotch Flight at Rose and Crown.

Maybe I need to start a PTR for that trip so I don't forget everything.... Well maybe I should finish this one first.

We went for the first time last year and I made the mistake of making ADRs, one each day. We really had to scramble to try everything we wanted to eat, so next year on the F&W days we won't have any and will just eat at the Kiosks. I think that's they way to go!

I think we'll be a little late for the Cherry Blossoms. I visited there during the Festival about 20 years ago. I don't remember exactly when it was but probably in the 80's. We have a Community Band Concert in early April and since we're management we had to plan the trip after April 9th. For a while I thought there was a time frame limit because I THOUGHT we were going to have a F&W Festival in CA that was going to start on April 29th. But since they CANCELLED the whole thing about a week ago, I have no worries about the DC trip! We'll be there from the 19th through the 26th, half the time right in the middle of town and 1/2 the time in Alexandria.

I saw that the California F&W was canceled for the next two years... DH and I were thinking of going next year....

We always go to the Cherry Blossom festival, but we both work in DC so it makes it a little easier for us.

There is so much to do and see while you are here, hope you have fun planning the trip.

As locals what would you reccomend we do? We are planning on seeing some of the Smithsonian museums, and the monuments, but are becoming overwhelmed with all the choices!

That is hard to say, when we have family come in we try and narrow down to their likes, like you said there is MUCH to do here.

If you like aviation the Air and Space is always wonderful, but most people don't know that the Udvar Hazy museum is where the Transformer movie was filmed and the planes there are AMAZING! when I took the kids they walked around with their mouths open most of the time. It will take all day to go thru there.

If you want to go up in the Washington Monument, you can order tickets right now for $2.00 each and you don't have to stand in line, just go NPS.gov, it is by far the best way to do that.

If you want to see the White House you have to go thru your congressman to get those tickets and you needed to start that a couple of months ago.

If you want to go to the Pentagon, you can arrange a tour now for that also, just contact thru the pentagon website.

The 9-11 monument at the Pentagon is beautiful and the chapel where the plane hit is breath taking.

I would suggest the hop on hop off tour bus so you can see everything, the one I always suggest is Old Town Trolley http://www.trolleytours.com/

You can never go wrong with Arlington National Cemetery, and American History Museum.

The Spy Museum is a lot of fun also, it is interactive so you get to become a spy and others try and find you or you chase a spy. It is a lot of fun....

Then the Kennedy Center is a favorite of mine, the shows there are amazing and since it is a historical landmark, there is no dress code so you can walk around and see a show just as a tourist and no worry about "Dressing Up".

Hope this helps.

Thanks! The Air & Space Museum was on our list as was American History and definitely the Spy Museum! We also had the Washington Monument on the list. Depending on how HA the bus tours are we want do one of those. My DP travels with a scooter (I do too if there is a lot of walking involved). But on a tour I could probably get by without. She can not, so we'll play that by ear.

Thanks for the tips!

Day Five of vacation October 16 - Saturday

We are heading for Hollywood Studies to ride some rides quickly and head back to EPCOT.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%205/DSC_0441.jpg

First stop, David goes to TOT to fast pass while I get in line for the Rock n Roll Roller coaster .

http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%205/DSC_0489.jpg

After the ride, we got back on in the singles line and rode it again, then we fast passed RnR and headed to TOT to ride on the first fast pass, after that, we got right back on and rode again.

We walked around killin time for the RnR fast pass to open up, so we went to Drew Carey show, which should be on the list for skipping next time. Next was the back stage tour, we had done this before but here we go again…..

After the back stage tour we head back the RnR. So we have our roller coaster fix for awhile. Now we head to EPCOT.

It seems like the bus takes forever to pick us up but we are on our way to Beach Club Villas and to walk into EPCOT.

The first culinary demo is at 5PM and it Vanilla Grilled Shrimp over Fragrant Rice Pilaf with Mango Salsa; paired with Fess Parker Santa Barbara Riesling.

Pam Smith is the chef and it was the first time that I figured out she was the F&W representative at almost all of our culinary demos throughout the week. Oh well sometimes I am slow.

After the culinary demo, David decided that he wanted some real sit down food, the only reservation that we could get was in Germany at the Biergarten, I am so NOT into buffets, but we go anyway.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/AKL%20FandW%20Day%205/DSC_0501.jpg

The food is OK, but the entertainment was really good, granted it was loud, so loud that I could not talk to David but good all the same. I had the Beer Flight and some of the food.

Brian would go crazy over the short ribs. The appetizer you had looked great too!

We spent a lot of time looking and enjoying the animals.
oh wow...that sounds awesome!!!
Ok just for you when I finish with this one I will move onto the next but I think you should help with it.

Day Six of vacation October 17 - Sunday

We have some breakfast and check out of the resort and bring all 3 pieces of our luggage down to the lobby and David brings around the rental. We got a nice looking Chrysler Town and Country to drive down to Ft. Lauderdale.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/Cruise%20Day%201/DSC_0519.jpg
Picking up the rental was super easy, they came to AKL and picked us up and took us to the rental facility on Disney and then we were on our way. We found a discount code on All Ears and saved 25%. It was very comfortable for the 4 of us, anyway we start on our way, and right off the bat we are going the wrong way on the toll road, which sucks and David can’t handle not being in control, so it was a rough start, but we got over it quickly.

We made it to the cruise terminal in no time
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/Cruise%20Day%201/DSC_0520.jpg

and we dropped off the luggage with Chris and Mechelle, and we filled the van up and dropped it at the rental care return at the airport. The car rental places have a shuttle bus that will take you to the cruise terminal for FREE so that was an added benefit for us.

So we make it back to the cruise ship and being the boarding process, it did not take maybe 15 minutes and we were on our way to eat lunch.
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/Cruise%20Day%201/DSC_0521.jpg

We meet up with Chris and Mechelle, and Pat and Ken for lunch out on the back deck of the ship.

After lunch we were all given the ok to head to our cabins and drop off all of our carryon luggage the rest should arrive later. The cabin was a nice surprise, they have made some nice improvements, the bathroom was the biggest change, and it was much more open and spacious. There was a ton of light and many many storage places.

For the main course David had Prime Rib

and I had Encrusted Rack of Lamb
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/Cruise%20Day%201/DSC_0573.jpg

for dessert we had the Citrus Cheesecake.

and David got the Cane sugar caramelized Skirt Steak,
http://i1046.photobucket.com/albums/b465/dgbg100106/Cruise%20Day%202/DSC_0642.jpg

for dessert I had Dark Chocolate Ice Cream with Raspberry sauce and David was being good and passed on dessert…since he had chicken wings earlier....

After lunch we head to the Captain’s Club Wine Tasting event at 3PM. The wines were ok but I could tell that they were not as good as they used to be, David did not like most of his. I am all for free wine, something in me will not let me turn it down.

The show was very much like Cirque du Soleil, with a ton of acrobatics, balancing (while on a moving ship), aerials, dancing and singing. Since there is no flash photograph I had to make do without the flash so the pictures are not great.

Day Nine of vacation October 20 - Wednesday

We arrive at 8:00am today in Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas. We were just here in February so we were not doing much on the island today; we meet up with Pat and Ken and went shopping around the pier and in town. David was still looking for two lenses for my camera, but we were unable to find a place that could do better than Amazon so we passed.

We took a taxi over to the other side of the island and went shopping some more and stopped at the bar we found last year and introduced Pat and Ken to the famous Bushwacker! We had a lot of fun and enjoyed just sitting there relaxing.

no problem, I will always help if I can....
We have been on 8 cruises together and David was on 6 before me and I was on 1 before him... So we have a little experience.

We are going to the Bahamas in February and going to the Baltics in August of 2011.

It is by far my favorite type if vacation for relaxing.

Day Ten of vacation October 21 - Thursday

We woke up late as we arrived in Phillipsburg, St. Maarten, we headed for breakfast in the main dining room, I wanted Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon instead for Canadian bacon, and it is one of my favorites for breakfast.

After breakfast we meet up with Pat and Ken again and headed for the port…

More shopping and walking is in order for the day, we walked from the ship to the shopping area and it is about a 15 minute walk, not tough but it was very hot, I hate to sweat.

Anyway the beaches were looking wonderful as we walked past them, after days of looking I found the rum that we had been searching for, Brinley’s Gold Lime flavored rum, it is made on St Kitts but this one tiny liquor store had the prize that we had been in search of.
Also my Aunt finally found a watch that she wanted and my Uncle was holding on to the CC tightly in this picture… Ha-Ha….

After that we found some perfume that is no longer sold in the states so it was nice to find it. We ate lunch on the beach and had a bucket of beer and cooled off under a fan before making our way back around to the ship.

Day Eleven of vacation October 22 - Friday

We woke up and worked out again this morning since we had not port of call to walk around in. We ate breakfast outside the gym in the Solarium. The yogurt parfaits were the best!

We walked around the ship and went into some of the clubs to check out all the different rooms. The dance floor and DJ booth reminds me of something futuristic. There was a Ping Pong tourney going on in the main lobby outside the club.
