Sky Servie is announcng that it will bring people home(on other airlines) but there are no flights heading out. And SunQuest will pick up the outbound flights until April 30.

It was really swift because they posted an advertised position here in Calgary on March 29th and on the 31st the company was kaput!

My sister was in Mexico this week when Skyservice went bust. Luckily she had booked through a travel agent (my other sister) and Sunquest Vacations had changed their flight home right before they left (likely they knew the writing was on the wall for Skyservice...partly because it was Sunquest and Carlson Wagonlit that put Skyservice into receivership...they owed them something like 9 million??).

There was 3 people in their group that chose not to book with my sister, and went on their own to get their Visa rewards...they are stranded in Mexico until at least Saturday night!

So, yet another example of why it pays to book with a travel agent (other than trips to Disney of course, because we're all experts!:rotfl:)

I think the kiss of death for Skyservice was the fact that one of Skyservice's largest customers, Signature Vacations, announced its merger with another tour operator , Sunwing Travel Group, which already runs its own fleet of aircraft and ceased using Skyservice. That was a hefty contract to lose!!
