We are a Disney family and use this board frequently to get the latest info for trips to WDW. A family wedding may send us out to Las Vegas in November, and I am wondering if anyone knows of a board similiar to this board for Las Vegas information. This would be a first time out to the LV area for us and want to make it a family vacation. Any help/links would be most appreciated!

Thanks! - Mike

Mike,
Did you try a web search on google.com? That would probably be your best bet (no pun intended!).

Quite a few Community Board members visit and vacation at Vegas and hopefully they will post and help you with the info you are seeking.

We vacationed in Vegas with the family 5 1/2 years ago when DH attended a convention there. Of course the changes to Vegas with the addition of casinos/hotels is staggering so I wouldn't be of much help. We stayed at Excalibur and really liked it. We did the Jousting Tournament dinner show - which I highly recommend.

We also toured Hoover Dam and Lake Meade. Our children went to museums while we were at the Convention. They did not like Circus Circus but we had fun at the MGM Theme Park, which has since shut down.

Pam & Steve - Thanks for the info. The lvol.com site looks like the info I'm looking for.

If anyone has any other sites or tips to pass along, all is appreciated!

www.vegas.com is another good resource. I think they still have the message boards.

www.cheapovegas.com is one of my favorite Vegas sites. It has detailed info and reviews on nearly every LV hotel. Casino Boy is a riot!

The "official" site, http://www.vegasfreedom.com has a bunch of info, including what conventions are coming up and what shows will be in town while you're there. It's a great help in addition to the other sites mentioned. We just got back from Vegas a little over a week ago & had a *great* time! I hope you get a good deal & have fun!!!! :) :)

One more thing I meant to add. The August 2002 edition of Casino Player magazine has a "Las Vegas 101" theme. It's full of articles with just basic Vegas stuff. Where most of the free stuff is, cheap buffets/restraunts, etc. We covered most of it on my trip, but wish it would have come out before the trip! There's a couple things we would like to have seen/done that are in there that we didn't know about!!

The magazine should be available at most all bookstores/magazine racks. Enjoy!! :)

All - thanks for the tips. I'm checking the sites out and am making my plans. It looks like the weather isn't too warm the last week of November. Anyone have a favorite LV hotel pool? (Mandalay Bay and MGM look pretty good.)

From what I've seen on tv, looks like the Mirage has a nice pool too!

And you might want to check www.theweatherchannel.com for weather patterns. Vegas can be quite cold, especially at night. In fact, a few years ago it snowed on the Strip on Thanksgiving Day!

Btw, I go to Vegas at least once a year (BFs dad lives there), so feel free to PM me if you have questions. Just don't ask me about shows, I've only been to Siegfried & Roy and Mystere, but I've heard great things about Danny Gans and "O"!
