We have paid our deposit and can't wait to sail on the Dream. This will be our second Disney cruise. We cruised on the Wonder for Thanksgiving 2009. Our group is DH, and myself, and our 3 girls, DD (8), DD (6) and DD (5). Looking forward to making memories. We will also coordinate a fish extender list for those that wish to participate. My girls loved it last time.

Hello,
We are scheduled B2B too. Working on our upcoming cruise right now, but will get more involved with plans for this one late this summer. DD's will be 15 and 13 next March. Will there be children traveling with you?

Great to hear you will be doing B2B also. We have two kids but much younger. Two girls who will be 7 and less than a week from being 4. We did 7 days on the magic this past March and they loved it more than Disney World. Look forward to exploring the new ship.

Ours were 4 and 7 when we first started. It seems like almost forever ago. We've been spoiled by 7 night or greater cruises, so that's why I opted for the B2B. We also wanted to check out the Dream. These boards are very helpful for planning. If you are planning to do a day at Atlantis might be more cost effective to reserve a room at the Comfort Suites Paradise Island. It is for us due to the girls ages. You might break even.

Hi everyone - count us in, too! We just paid deposits, and are also doing the B2B with the 3/24 cruise. We just did the 3/20 Magic Western Caribbean and realy wanted a 7 night on the Dream.
We have me, DH Scott, Grandma Pauline, and DD Megan (14 by next March). This is our 2nd Disney cruise but first one for Grandma.
We loved the fish extender last time, so we would be happy to participate on this cruise, too.
Looking forward to fun times ahead! :)

Has everyone done a disney cruise before?
This will be our first cruise and I'm so excited. Im so familiar with pretty much every other aspect of disney and the parks, but as far as DCL im in the dark. Is there any must do things, or things that arent worth your time?
Ive heard about the FE on the podcast board and it sounds like a lot of fun too. It reminds me of girl scouts when my sister and I were little.:cutie:

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! A DCL honeymoon will be just magical. There is way too much to do on a cruise, so highlight your Navigator each night and hope to do some of your favorites. Many of the activities overlap each other, so you can't do it all. Plan a special dinner at Palo or whatever it is called on the Dream. It is the adults only restaurant. I'm not being too helpful, but these boards are filled with threads on everything from packing lists to pictures from meals. We just discovered the cruise magnet thread. We've always admired the door decorations, but didn't know how to go about creating them. There is also a thread called "Mel's candy pockets..." You can use some of her creations for wedding guest gifts. If you have specific questions please feel free to ask. Everyone is very helpful.

It will be me, DS10, DS4 in Cabin 1. Cabin 2 is my "cruising buddy" and her DS7 for thier 2nd DCL. Cabin 3 is a great friend and her DD8 for thier 1sr cruise EVER!!
We are so excited about this cruise. My youngest asks about going EVERY day...he has no concept of time, of course.
I dont know that I am interested in the FE..they sound like an additional expense and just more to do??? Any opinions?

Looks like we will be joining this group as well....
We will be on Deck 10.
This is our third cruise with DCL. My son is 7 and my daughter is 5.
We are adding travelers for this one and bringing along my mother in law and father in law. We are also driving this time, so we have a lot more planning to do than we have in the past.
March seems so far away!
And P.S.
We would love to participate in the FE....not sure about the In Laws though.....

Looking forward to the cruise even though it is over 7 months away. Half the fun is the anticipation, I guess. As the wife says, this will be our third Disney cruise on as many ships and we are taking my folks. We are also driving down from Rochester this time, which I think will alleviate some of the stress. I know this sounds backwards, but the "hurry up and slow down" of airports drives me insane. I also stress at having no control over cancellations and delays and what not. Granted the 20+ hour drive will have stresses of its own to deal with, but nothing we don't see and handle on a regular basis.
Can't wait!

Looking forward to keeping up with the thread over the next six months. It helps pass the weeks and keep the anticipation high.:yay:
BTW.....my husband and I share this loggin. If you see the thread for a cruise for March 21st, that was my genius husband. :guilty:He thought a thread hadn't been started for our cruise date and realized he was lookin for the wrong date:lmao:

Hi Lesley! You and your kids will have a great time! This is our 3rd cruise on Disney, my kids were 3 and 5 on the first one. Welcome to the board.
While we are all waiting for the members of this group to build up you should look into the Fish Extender gift exchange. It is a lot of fun (and a little or a lot of work-whatever you want to put into it) and the kids really really enjoy it! Heck, I enjoyed it too!
There is a lot of info on the board about it, here is some to start you off :

Hey Cookie Bird...I am also going on this cruise with you & Im a single parent. Actually two of my girlfriends (single parents) and thier kids are going as well. We will have to meet up!!
I also just came off of a 3 day cruise...the first one without any other adult with my two boys age 3 & 9. There were some nerve wracking moments, but all in all it all works out! You and them will have a great time!
I understand not wanting to tell them so soon, but when you do tell them, talk to them about going into the clubs. It is a great way for you to have some time to yourself!! Even for just a couple of hours! I loved it!
I look forward to meeting up with you!

I am so excited Spring Break does not seem that far away anymore. I just wanted to remind would be Pirates that now through early next week would be a good time to get Pirate costumes for the Pirates in the Caribbean party. We dressed up last time and the kids loved it and our picture with Captain Jack Sparrow looked great. They are doing it on the Dream and have added a new activity geared to the younger kids too. I also have put together a rough list of threaders so far, for possible FE or just meeting up. I'll update as we go and refine. We are looking at an FE cutoff date in early January as well.

Was looking on the DCL site today and it appears our cruise date is booked full for children. You can still reserve a room as a party of adults, but not if there are any children in your group. As it is a common spring break week, that's probably not too surprising. :confused3

Also, are we going to do a meet and greet type thing the first day? I've gone to one before and it is great to put faces to the names and give the kids a chance to meet up.

Hi all!
Ok, first of all I hope I am not stepping on GatorandNoles toes by doing this, but I haven't seen you on here in awhile and thought this should be finalized.
If anyone is interested in participating in the Fish Extender please send me an EMAIL---not a PM. (easier for me to organize this way) Please put Disney Dream FE as the subject.
Information needed-please supply as much as possible....
(the ONLY reason I am requesting ages, names AND gender is because some people like to make home made items and some like to get specific to ages and gender--some even include names)
Cabin Number-Deck Number
Adult Names
Child Names,Ages,Genders
Remember EMAIL me the above information.....
My name is Caryn, here is my email:
mcdgsmith@frontiernet.net
I will put together a list As soon as possible and plan on CLOSING sign up on January 20. That will give people plenty of time to put stuff together (I hated feeling rushed on the last one I did), it also gives time to get it done so you can mail the stuff to the boat if needed in the week before. If more people join after that, another group can be started by someone else.
Thanks everyone!!

Hello! We're looking forward to our very first cruise! Our family includes: me, DH and twin DS, age 12. They were born extremely prematurely and as a result, one of our sons has cerebral palsy and will be using his walker/wheelchair to get around. Of course, this makes us easy to spot in a crowd!
We've booked an accessible deluxe family stateroom w/ verandah and we're really curious to see what that actually looks like. We're hoping the boys will be interested in the Clubs but so far they're thinking they'd rather spend time with us. I suspect once they get onboard, that will change.
Being first timers, we're a bit nervous about all the logistics, and also about addressing our son's needs...so if you see us looking like the confused newbies we are, trying to push a wheelchair through a crowd of happy cruisers eager to get somewhere, please be patient!

My DH and our DS (10) and DD (7) will be joining the rest of you for this spring break cruise. Can anyone tell me if there is a formal or dressy night on the 4 night cruise? I will put together a list As soon as possible and plan on CLOSING sign up on January 20. That will give people plenty of time to put stuff together (I hated feeling rushed on the last one I did), it also gives time to get it done so you can mail the stuff to the boat if needed in the week before. If more people join after that, another group can be started by someone else.
Thanks everyone!!
Caryn,
Thank you for organizing the FE exchange! I need all the help I can get.
If anyone has any suggestions for a meet and greet when we board the ship PM or post. Time and locations that would work for you.
Thanks,

My family and I have been on other cruise lines, but this will be our first Disney cruise. I think I'm more excited than the rest of them! My DH and our DS (10) and DD (7) will be joining the rest of you for this spring break cruise. Can anyone tell me if there is a formal or dressy night on the 4 night cruise? I don't see anything about that in the planning center on Disney's website. Just want to be prepared!
9 weeks to go! Can't wait to see the Dream!
I pulled this from the DCL site:
On 4-night cruises:
• First night: cruise casual—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
• One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
• One "dress-up night"—jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women
• Final night: cruise casual—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
Dress for dinner at Palo on all cruises:
• Men: dress shirt or jacket, no shorts
• Women: dress or pantsuit
The four night cruise is not as formal as the seven day cruise. The seven day cruises have a formal night and a semi-formal night. When we dined at Palo we dressed up which was the dress up night for us anyway.

For anyone interested I found the Menu's for the Dream!
I tried to post the direct links, but couldn't get it to work, so...
go to www. disneycruiser .info
There are menus for all but Remy.
For cruisers with kids, something I did on our first cruise that was fun was I purchased plain white pillow cases and using computer iron on transfers, put a disney design on them. When we boarded, I dropped them off at guest services and they had the characters sign them and deliver them to our room on the last night. One word of warning, even thought they use sharpie markers, they will still come off on your kids face at night! lol :rotfl:

Hi everyone,
We are doing the B2B on 3/20 and 3/24 as well. It will be me, DH, DD8 and DD3. It sounds like there are going to be a whole group of kids who are right around the same age.

The check in screen is slightly different than previous cruises, but you'll find it easy enough.
We are doing a B2B with my parents and I was having difficulty logging into their second portion. I spoke with DCL and they said that you can get in line whenever you arrive, whether it is earlier or later than your sign up time, but this is just to help Disney know when most people are arriving. If you are doing a B2B then you will be escorted off the ship briefly (30 minutes?) for customs, but then allowed back on.

Hello - this sounds great...except when I access our account, it indicates that this feature is locked. I wonder why? Could it be: arriving from out of country (although we'll already be in the US) or more likely, is it something that they open up for repeat cruisers?
I read another thread by someone who is a first timer who was feeling really blue about nothing being available by the time it was finally their turn to make reservations for Palo, excursions etc. I must admit I feel a bit the same way...but people have reassured me that there will be openings available once we board. The problem for us is that one of our sons uses a wheelchair and walker...and by the time we board with all this stuff, plus learning the ship and fighting the crowds, I have a bad feeling there'll be nothing left.
Sorry to be such a downer...it's just we really want to enjoy this vacation!

Thanks I checked it out.
Twinmum,
The locks will disappear after you update the other stuff. You need checkmarks in all the other boxes. I had everything filled out but it unchecked a couple things and I just re did it.
This is my third cruise and all the palo brunches were gone when I went to book, on the day it was open for me.
Go right to the nightclub for dining changes when you get onboard, hopefully there will still be openings.(no real fighting off crowds, at least on the magic there wasn't) Only one of you need to go there as well.

Just stating the obvious, but I can not wait for this cruise to get here. The new ship will be great and all that, but all I want to do is look out on the ocean from our balcony and try to spot a mermaid while sipping a beer. Don't get me wrong I love all the little touches Disney throws into their ships (and I sure the Dream will be no exception) but I just want sit back, relax and let someone else drive the boat for a while.

Getting close, and I am SO ready. Whats everyones weather like? Anyone packing yet?
We are in Western NY, so non stop snow of varying degrees since around Christmas, I am so done with it.
Got the online check in done. Always exciting waiting for the actual documents though.
Got one bag packed (FE stuff, beach things, things for the room I know we will not need for the drive down)
Pre cruise hotel room Booked.
We still need to get insurance though....
Rough past month for my family so I am more than anxious to get out of dodge for awhile. The first week in January our 12 year old dog Mojo passed away in his sleep, and then less than a month later (last week) we had to have our 14 year old dog Nico put to sleep. House just doesn't seem the same....
On a "little" bit of an up note, we did discover a couple little credits from DCL on our Visa Statement yesterday, one for $11.xx and one for $13.xx, must be a change in taxes or something maybe-no clue.
Hope you are all having fun getting ready for the trip as the time gets closer, and hopefully your new year has started off a little better than ours has.

I know 2 of you posted that you got your docs, has anyone else? I thought for sure we would have ours by now since we didn't need airline tickets(we have booked EVERYTHING thru disney in the past, and docs came about 3 weeks out)....hopefully any day now.
Anyone know of any good Disney shopping near the port? We usually stay at the Hyatt at the airport, but again, since we are driving we are staying by the port.
My kids are on spring break this week, which will have me more than ready for vacation by the time they go back to school on Monday!

Hubby and I had thought about it but I am not a runner and it sounds like they start it later now and honestly I don't want to cut into any of my actual beach time :) (used to be they let the 5k folks off about an hour before hand I thought.....)

Not sure on the 5K probably not because of the kids. The 5K used to start at 8:30 and everyone else gets off at 9:00. We are slow and it would take at least 45 minutes with little ones. I'd rather go to the beach too! No such thing as TOO much shopping! Have fun. See you soon.

I found this on a different thread from earlier today.
We were off at 9:30 and on by 10:30. You must clear the ship and take your form through Customs. Then circle around and go back up the escalator. You receive a new KTTW card and then wait in the Concierge area to reboard. We were able to return to our room, 12516, because Mario had it ready.

We have a 20 hour drive from northern Illinois - hoping to be on the road by 1pm tomorrow. DS (10) had a dental emergency on Tuesday so I had him at the dentist yesterday morning. Broke off one of his two front permanent teeth! Sure didn't need that expense before vacation, but glad it happened this week and not next week on the ship!! I'm sure Mickey would charge a lot more than our dentist! Have had the suitcases out since last weekend, but finally started to pack last night. Still haven't finished packing and we leave first thing in the morning! Most things are laid out, though. Still lots on the To Do list!
Seems like there are many kids who have teeth stories...we do too. Three years ago, one of our twin sons chipped 1 front tooth while playing on a trampoline. No worries, just a little filing down required. Not two weeks later, he and a friend were playing Wii tennis and he got wacked in the mouth with the numchuk...chipped the other front tooth! This one took more repair, but you could never tell now.

I need to book next year's cruise while we are on so I have something to look forward to after we disembark.

twinmum my younger DS is 11 (12 in May). He's usually pretty social but sometimes initially stand-offish. If your boy(s) are into sports he'll be game though.

In the van still driving back home....it gets colder at each stop. I just wanted to say thank you very much to everyone that participated in the fish extender. We loved the wide variet of things we received.
We really enjoyed our trip though the ship had its good and bad. Hope you all had a great time.

We got home last night. I wanted to thank all the FE participants for the wonderful gifts. My girls enjoyed the exchange even more this year since they helped with making some of the items as well as delivery. We had a wonderful cruise. I wish we could have made the meet and greet but we were running a bit behind on Sunday. We did meet one from our group at lunch so that was nice. Well we booked our cruise for spring break next year. Same time same ship. Anybody else book on board? We wanted to do B2B but the 4 night is followed by a 5 night next year. Too long and the girls would miss school.
