Help! I am so sick of this blank, blank heat and humidity! I don't have A/C and my house is over 90' even now after the sun has gone down. I try to keep what shades I have closed, and I have window fans going. But even the carpet feels damp from the humidity! Mostly I just sit here with my computer, a fan blowing right on me and I still have to keep wiping my forehead so the sweat doesn't get into my eyes. Ick!
What do some of you do to keep cool?
do you have a basement??
thats where I used to keep cool..

That heat and humidity have really been nasty this summer!
When I am really overheated, I get a frozen icepak (kind you put in a cooler) put it in a zip lock baggie and sit in a chair with the icepak on my back.

I went to our local JoAnn's store (fabric) and bought yards of a silver metallic tablecloth material, cut it and pinned it to the two large windows that get the late afternoon/evening sun. It really does help deflect the heat and allows the AC to catch up. Not pretty but what is in this heat? And a cool cloth on the nape of the neck should help.

I can't imagine not having central AC, since I've never lived anywhere cool. I'm a weanie and have to admit I'd probably hit the mall. :D

I try to keep my feet cool/cold (icepack wrapped in a towel). Maybe a cool shower. And drink lots of water so you don't get dehydrated. :)
Hope that you find some respite from the heat!

Wait a day! According to Weahterbug, we are due for a cool front this evening. Today's highs are predicted to be over 100. Tomorrow's highs in the LOW 80s  Hope the cool front makes it as far north as MA

Okay, this is what I did. I put on as few clothes as I could get by with. No one was coming over, I was in germany and didn't know anyone, so I was praying there was no fire. lol
The other thing I did was to get my little bit of clothes wet, and put them in the freezer before I put them on.
Being in a little bitty, airless apartment ironing fatigues was not fun.

My kids and I eat Pop Ice to help cool us off. We go crazy over those things!
