my wife and I want to purchase a DVC property but don't have the time right now for a trip to FL! Do you have to travel to Disney to purchase membership or can you buy over the phone, on the computer, through the mail?

You can do it entirely over the phone. I know a lot of people here have bought sight unseen. They just mail the paperwork to you.

All done over the telephone... We are from VA and purchased 225 points VWL sight unseen. We made our first trip last month and were DIFINITELY NOT disappointed!!

Not a dumb question. As stated, you can buy into DVC via phone & mail. Another alternative to going to WDW is going to the DVC resort at Hilton Head Island.
