Let me preface by saying I am NOT asking this question in an attempt to save money, but rather to save on the rediculous waste I see happen at restaurants.

We are on the DP (Regular), and for the first time our kids will be 3, and now have their own credits (On past trips they were under 3 and therefore not eligiable for the DP). My boys eat like birds by the time dinner rolls around, and so therefore is it possible that they share one kids meal on those occasions, only using 1 TS credit? I realize that at buffets or family style ADR's they will use both credits (We will have a lighter lunch), but I just hate to think of ordering 2 meals and having 60% go to waste!!!

At home when we eat out, they most often will share a dinner (Heck, they even do this at McDonalds on occasion... forcing me to "buy an extra toy")... I dont mind buying an extra desert/drink OOP in these instances... I just dont want to see them waste the food.

Anyone know the rule on this one? I know sharing of TS meals as an adult is not allowed, but what about 3 year old twins?

Again... I am not trying to find a way to "work the system"... I just would hate to see waste!

Kids sharing a credit isn't a problem at all, but without careful planning you might end up with a bunch of left over kids credits by the end of your trip.

We are going to have the same issue on the DDP. I have 4 kids who can share a pizza and fries kids meal at Chilis and STILL not eat it all. The waitress will look at us like we are crazy when we order this one kids meal for all four kids :rotfl: If they all want something different, then we won't make them share, but if they are allowed to share and want the same item then we may try to use their credits to get them a snack later on (they eat smaller meals, but will eat 4-5 times a day) at someplace like MSB. Better than the credits or food going to waste while spending more money OOP on snacks.

Edited to add: I wouldn't try to have all my kids share ONE WDW kids meal, as the only place they can pull that off is at Chilis and specifically with the pizza + side meal. But I can see two of them sharing one (from our experience last year) and then using the additional two credits from the day for something else for them to eat later. Maybe a MSB snack with the CS credit and room service with the extra TS. Some places the oldest two won't be able to share (specifically CS that offer uncrustables,) but others they should be able to share easily (like pizza.)

At most restaurants it appears you can share meals between your own party. Ask about it. Obviously you will not be able to do this at buffets or any restaurant where the charge is per person, not per meal.

You should probably also be aware that most WDW kid's meals are much smaller than those you would find at Chilis or other chain restaurants.

What you are not supposed to do is share your credits with people who aren't on the dining plan.

You should be fine, as noted.

As for the extra TS credits, you can plan additional meals to use them (paying OOP for adult meals, as necessary), or, if staying at a resort that offers room service, use the extra credits (in pairs) to order kids' meals (such as breakfast).
