Which do you think it's harder to be today??

Well, I think it is difficult to be both these days, but since I have 2 teen DD's, I'll say girls.

First of all, they are more concerned with their looks and accessories, (hair, makeup, jewelry,) so it's more stressful to get dressed. They are also more fashion and body conscious, and girls suffer more cases of anorexia than boys.

Girls reputations are more easily tarnished. If a girl fools around, she's loose, if a guy fools around, he's popular.

When they start to drive, teen girls seem to take longer to get the hang of it than teen boys.

At a younger age, I think girls are easier to deal with, but during the teen years, boys have got to be easier than girls!!!!

In my family it was harder to be a teenage girl. I had no freedom and was overprotected from everything for fear something was going to happen to me. I was more mature and responsible than either of my brothers could have ever dreamed of being but they were allowed to do anything they pleased. I always got that "it's different with girls" excuse. I hate that excuse.

I think it's tough to be both. Some of my saddest years were my teenage years (thanks dad:( ), but when I was a teenager I had male friends that had it tough too. I think when my kids become teenagers, they'll both have equal battles to face. I'm prepared to help them through their battles, or battle with them, come what may.;)

I'll let you know when the time comes, but until then a quick story. A friend of mine just had twin boys to add to the 20 month old boy she already had. I kiddingly made a comment about having 3 boys in the house. I think atleast 5 people in my office looked at me and said, "better than 2 teenage girls." My DD's are still young, but I can already see it coming!!!!

I haven't had a teenager around for 7 years. I do remember being at my most miserable when I was a teenager, though. I think it's tougher for girls though.

Girls reputations are more easily tarnished. If a girl fools around, she's loose, if a guy fools around, he's popular.

That was true even back in the olden days when I was young ;)

I think it's harder to be a girl!

I have to get up at 5:30 for school in the morning so i have time to get ready. I have guy friends who get up at 6:30 because they can be ready in 15 minutes! Also, guys can wear whatever they want and nobody cares. If a girl wears something too low cut or too short, she gets a bad reputation, and if she wears things that aren't low cut or short, she gets labeled a goody two-shoes.

I don't think my life is that hard right now, but it still seems like teenage girls have it harder than teenage boys.

LOL i know that being a teenage girl is harder because i make it hard, i like a challenge though.

*I go to a school in Downtown San Diego, so i live with the cat calls from people on the street and me and my friends walk off the bus to school, or walk around downtown.
*I have to work hard to keep a good reputation, because i am a cheerleader and in ASB (two of the hardest working groups on campus) and dont want to ruin it for the whole group.
*I need to show a good example to my little sister because i am the only other girl in the family (besides mom lol) for her to look up to.
*Trying to stay in shape, so i dont get label as "fat" but can't be too skinny or i will be labeled as "anorexic"
*I have to get up at 5am and be out of the house by 6am so i can get to school on time (school bus takes forever).
*I have to not give into the pressures to try drugs/alcohol, because they are present around me often.

It is kind of like "keep your hands and arms inside at all times", if not, something bad could happen.

Well I'm 21, so not a teen, but fairly close. I'd say that being a teenage girl or a teenage boy both have their challenges. I am obviously biased since I'm a girl, but I think that being a girl can generally be emotionally harder than being a guy during the teen years, and there can be more pressures. Now I'm sure there's individual cases both ways of girls and guys having harder times, but if I had to generalize I would say girls.
