Is picnic in the park on the dining plan? CS or TS? Tier 1 or Tier 2? Also, do they allow you to purchase extra side dishes? I was looking at the menu and my son who will be 2 will likely only eat the side dishes (mac&cheese, mashed potatoes) so I was wondering if they would let us do the meal for 3 for the older 3 of us, and add additional side dishes for the little one to share.
What was your overall exp with picnic in the park? was it worth it?

Our family of four did picnic in the park in Sept. Three people where on the adult plan so we just got three (sandwhich one) and shared with my nine year old There was plenty of food with only one side (the orzo pasta is awesome) and we didn't even finish the desserts there was alot of food the sandwiches are large.

CS, either tier (you can't mix tiers on one order - everyone on the same order must order from the same tier). Tier 2 was changed to just chicken - no ham.
You won't be able to add an additional side dish if you are ordering the picnic.
Picnic in the Park is no longer offered regularly, it's now "seasonal" which means it will be offered whenever Disney feels like they need to offer it.
There is still a grab and go with sandwiches though. Not sure where it is or whether you can use dining plan for it. I also do not know if, when the picnic does get offered "seasonally," whether or not you will still be able to use the dining plan for it.

IMO it's not worth it to use dining plan credits for Tier 1 unless you're sure you won't use them elsewhere. Tier 1 for 3 people is $25, whereas most CS meals run $13-16 per person (so Tier 1 for 3 people costs less than most meals would cost for 2 people). So unless you're absolutely sure you'd have credits left over anyway, I would say you should pay OOP for the picnic.
I highly recommend it, btw, just saying it's not worth wasting a credit on.
