update:
Our meet up is scheduled for 3pm (before Sail Away and life boat drill) on Deck 13 ~ Currents, it's outside so those with young kids can have some space. We are going to put a white board (actually it's a Disney Princess) on our cabin 7690 (very BACK of deck 7) with notes if there is any change! I'll have my cell on until we sail away, so if you want to call or text me, my number is listed on our private f/b page. (I'm going to post this info in post one also).
******************************
I just booked our family on the three night and I'm beyond excited. Hubby and I did a four night in September 2008 when we had a DFTW vow renewal for our 25th. Taking two of our children this time (they are adults now, lol); but already they are excited.
Looking for others that may be on this cruise. We have a FE from our first cruise.

I have just booked! It will be me (debbie) and my dd (15). We did a four night in 2009 and I am using the excuse that I have some unfinished business in Florida to bring me back and get us back on a cruise! I am hoping that the three night won't seem to short compared to the four night! We also have a FE from our first cruise, so you can def. count us in on that! Here's to getting to know each other!

Welcome aboard Debbie!!!! So glad someone has finally booked on 'our' cruise, lol. I was thinking we'd be the only Dis-ers on board. Hubby and I will be taking two of our children; dd (23 then) and ds (20 then) with us. They've never been on a cruise. Hubby and I did the four night in Sept 2008 for our 25th. I too am worried this will seem short, but am just so excited we can take our kids on their first cruise. (our old son did the Disney land and sea for his honeymoon).

Greetings Debbie and Daughter. :cool1: I am sure for most people this is WAY to soon to be booking for a cruise, but, we found some awesome rates online:woohoo: and could not pass it up. From past experience this thread will get way long. I know 3 days will be too short but is a good teaser to want to come back again. SOON!:rotfl: Athens Greece? I was wondering about the accent:laughing:. Do you get across the pond often?

Hi, actually, I am American, but met my hubby at uni and followed him to Greece! I have been living here for 17 years now, and have been back stateside 4 times since then, twice for long vacations and twice for short trips. Last year we all came over (4 of us, there are 2 daughters total) and we did Disney right (or as right as I could manage) I had planned that trip for a year and a half, and it went off well but it is hard to please everyone. I couldn't bear to stay away again for long, and I am using the excuse of having to take care of some family business to come over again with my youngest, who is a little more tolerant of my Mickey Madness...:rolleyes1 I am hoping to be able to do a lot of what we did last year... but I have noticed that the prices are not the same and, you know, I'm not sure if I have totally paid off that trip either:rolleyes::hippie: Anyway, obsessing over the vacation for me is almost just as much fun as the vacation itself so here's to about 16 months of :dance3::dance3:! :cheer2:

Debbie,
You need to change your siggie, you do have a trip coming up (granted it is still quite a ways away). Will you and your dd be doing WDW before and/or after the cruise?
Our plans at this moment, but may change since we have a long time to think about it, are that we'll fly down the day before, stay at the hotel near the port (think it was the Radisson ~ they provide free parking and shuttle to the port) and then after the cruise we'll drop our ds and dd at MCO to fly home and hubby and I will head to WDW for some time for us.

Hi Patricia! I will change it soon, I promise:hippie: I was hoping for free dining before the cruise, but as the folks waiting for it this year are on pins and needles waiting to see if it will be offered, I am afraid things look pretty bleak for next year. We will def be doing some Orlando time before, but I don't know about where, yet. After we need to be hightailing it out of Dodge to make our way back to Greece. I still haven't worked out the logistics of it - whether to switch in Europe or New York, etc. School starts for us around Sept 10. Normally I would be starting earlier, but next year will be an exception;).
You are right, the Radisson is very nice and does have a shuttle. I myself am considering doing Country Inn and Suites, I hear it is also nice and also has a shuttle.pirate: I can hardly wait!

Cathy, Welcome aboard!!! So glad to hear your family will also be traveling this cruise. So many of the other meet threads are several pages long right around our cruise date, but we are just getting started.
We cruised in Sept 2007 (just hubby and I) and met some wonderful friends via our Dis meet thread. Some of which I communicate with regularly now.
I know it is a long way off, but have you thought of when and/or how you'll tell the kids? One of our friends told her boys the morning of at breakfast in the hotel (we stayed near the port)! It was so cute to watch.

Debbie, they just announced free dining again for this year (late August to early October) so if they keep with that schedule, you should be ok for next year!
We are DVC members so we don't get to take advantage of free dining, but we don't have to pay for a hotel each time we come either :)
I've not heard of the Country Inn and Suites, I'll have to check it out.

:welcome: Cathy and family! I don't envy you your challenge of trying to keep it a secret. I can't keep a secret for five seconds if it is about something so exciting. I even announced things to my kids last year like "we have an adr for kona" and they were like:confused3:rolleyes: (We had never been before so they didn't know what on earth I was talking about):)
Yes, I was relieved that they announced free dining for this year, it gives me hope for next year. I was a little sorry to see the change in the plan, so I am debating on whether to stay with quick service or to switch to regular dining plan. I will have to crunch some numbers, because it just might be a good excuse, ahem, reason to switch to moderate!!!:rolleyes1:cool2: I love the planning, the agony, the thrill!!:cheer2:
Pat, I am not saying that the Country Inn is better than the Radisson. I stayed at the Radisson last year and it was lovely! I am just thinking about the other one because I read some tips about how to manage it on priceline. I know I sound cheap, but I need to cut corners where I can to manage all the other stuff I want to do!!! Of course, the economy in my country is now really starting the major crisis (we just declared bankruptcy or something like that) which means they will raise my taxes even though I will be making less money, etc. All part of the thrill of the challenge!:dance3:
But I still prefer dealing with corrupt Greek politicians over trying to keep a Disney cruise a secret!:lmao:
Nice to have you with us!

Debbie, you don't sound cheap at all. We are all on a budget now a days (some tighter than others). Our last trip was a splurge as I had saved and put money away from each check so that we had it just about all paid for before going. I was reading something on the Dis recently about Priceline and hotels at the port. I have never used Priceline and always worry I'll end up at some 'run down dirty' place, lol.
Sorry to hear your country is 'bankrupt', things here are really bad in some areas. We are blessed that we still have our jobs and our mortgage is still getting paid. I work for a small real estate office and we sell properties for the banks that have foreclosed on them. It is sad to see how many there are out there. Just last week we got 5 or 6 new listings (that is a LOT, after a lull in things).
Well I am off to the gym and then work. Can't wait to 'get to know you' all here and on our cruise.

Greetings Cathy and family :cool1: Welcome to the group.
Debbie, i've been reading the headlines on the economic crisis over there. It sounds pretty scary. We have had our own problems over here but not nearly as bad as Greece right now. The world economy all appears to be a house of cards :scared1::eek: right now. Depending on who you listen too everything is either "rosey" or "thorny". But you can count on the cruise being a "Dream"! :woohoo:

Hi, all! Thank you for the lovely welcome! Reading the DIS boards helps with keeping the secret, as does having the little trip planned for next fall. We talk about going on a Disney Cruise all of the time IF we win the lottery, so I plan to tell them we are going to Cape Canaveral to watch the space shuttle or something. Since we really want to go on a Disney Cruise, I will suggest we just go to Port Canaveral to see if there any ships in port. SURPRISE! We're actually going on one! I love reading these boards and getting tips. I am a huge planner, and although it drives my DH nuts because I just have to have every second planned, it always works out wonderfully. I am just too pumped and grateful that there are people I can share my excitement with!

You have the wrong brackets around your ticker.

Use this section (BBCode) at the ticker site (not the html section)

Count us in on this cruise. Not only are we doing this we are doing the 4 day cruise prior to it. So hopefully we get to stay on the ship. This will be our 5th. Weve done a East, a West and just recently sailed the Magic for the eastbound transatlantic.
There is 4 of us DD3, DD15 plus inlaws sailing. We'd love to get enough people together for Fish Extenders.

Alex, welcome to the group. Sorry I missed your post. I'm so jealous of all your cruises! I too am hoping we get enough for the FE. We had a ball with that on our previous cruise (but didn't bring the kids along then). It's hard to believe it's still more than a year away, but time is moving quickly (thankfully). Have you written any TR from your previous trips?

HI! I'm Lisa! As of this morning we are all booked! Count us in for the fish extender!
This is going to be my 7th Disney Cruise (9th cruise all together, wonder which cruiseline I liked the best)!
My first was in 2000 on the Magic, then I did two land/sea trips in 2002 and 2004 (both in January and both on the Wonder). The the most Magical Cruise in 2008 when I got married on Castaway Cay. We went back in November of 2009 for our one year anniversay. This January (2010) we are sailing on the Magic again heading to the western Caribbean for a week. I am really looking forward to a 7 night cruise!
This will be my husband's 4th cruise, he too is hooked and loves them! My Dad, Sister, Brother in Law and my Niece and Nephew will be joining us too! It is going to be alot of fun!!!

I spend every spare moment working on my holiday even though it is over a year away! (I will add a ticker or two after I buy airfare, that is when "there's no turning back now.....mwahaha" I just realized that on the other cruise my family took, and the entire vacation for that matter, I did NOT have a Mickey Bar!!! Someone, please stick a note in my fish extender the first night to remind me to order one! :rotfl:

Deb, I like Dream Weavers! I'm not real creative with coming up with names for our group.
Alex, we had a verandah when we did our Disney Fairy Tale Vow Renewal in the Dream in 2008. It was our first 'real' cruise and kind of spoiled us. Loved having that view of the ocean.

Ok fellow "Dream Weavers" :worship::worship::worship: Are Cathy, Patty and I the only ones going to visit WDW before our cruise? Is anybody else out there a DVC owner? :confused3Ok, I'm in...The Disney Dream September 1st, 2011 cruise will be our first cruise ever! Although I'm not planning on canceling, I do like that we have until June of next year to do so without penalty--just in case! That's what finally sold me on booking now while rates are low. We were considering going on a cruise December 2010 or September 2011, but when we compared rates, it was a no-brainer. For about the same price, we would have gotten an inside stateroom in December, but were able to get a verandah in September. I figured why not get a balcony, since kids rates go up as they get older and it would only be less affordable in the future!
As for WDW before the cruise--we haven't fully decided, but may spend one night before and one night after (we are not DVC owners). My daughter will have started school a week before the departure date and I'm not fond of removing her for too long at the beginning of the school year (any other time, I wouldn't have cared so much!). She'll be in first grade that year and you know how kids are that first week---getting used to their seating assignments, learning their classmates names, etc. So although I would like to stay at WDW longer, I don't want her to lose too much of that initial introduction period. Other than that, I figure she won't be missing that much schooling in the first week or two.
So Bahamas and Castaway Cay, here we come!! :woohoo:

Patty and i will be down the end of November - beginning of December. We are staying at Kidani or Jumbo House, I don't remember. Patty makes all the ressies. I just go along. We found this was the best time to view the Osborn Festival of lights in DHS:santa:. We also plan on checking out the decorations in all of the WDW hotelspopcorn::. And of course attend Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. :santa::santa:I love it when everybody but you has to leave the park for the party.
This is actually Dale typing (hunt and peck really):littleangel:. I didn't realize the computer was logged in under Patty:confused3 Oh well The message is the same. We are planning on going about December 9th-13th. I'm waiting on the Candlelight Processional info to be announced. Our dates are flexible. Also wishing they would release the D23 Magic and Merriment info soon, although that will probably be closer to fall time when they announce.
Ughh...all this waiting. Planning for December keeps my mind off the 15 month wait for our cruise!

Nice to have you with us! We were first timers last year, and loved every single second of the cruise. It was a 4-night, and not enough :rotfl: but what can you do? We are doing the 3 night this time round because we will (hopefully, with fingers crossed) be staying at Disney for two weeks prior, and in the Universal area 4 days prior to that! I also would like to squeeze in a trip to Discovery Cove and a week in New York... - this is probably why I will be feeding my family plain spaghetti for the next 15 months:confused3.

We had a great price so we invited all our friends and family to join us for the b2b or even just a piece of it.

DCL excitement. Just the fact that both dh and I greenlighted the trip is a miracle.
Of course I had a bunch of "sads" today. Went into the Disney Store. DS9 is too old for everything in the store and there's nothing for adults. I miss the old store where you can buy dh his polo shirts and cute outfits for me. Oh well.

hi everyone! Happy 4th of July weekend to our American friends ! So are we gonna do an FE? I have one from the last cruise but will need a new one as the one I have looks kinda christmasee.I have to admitt Im a little concerned as to the weather around this sailing date, has anyone else sailed at this time of year before? Not sure why, but I'm not getting notices of posts in the thread. Sorry to miss a few.
We cruised this same time in 2008. There were MANY hurricanes that season. Our itinerary was changed slightly due to the storms at sea. We had our sea day first instead of second. The only disappointment to me was that our DFTW vow renewal was to be on a the 8th and due to the change got moved to the 9th. I had something embroidered with the date, so that was my only disappointment (well that and it was too windy for our ceremony to be outside), but no control over it and no hard done.
As long as we get to cruise and get to Castaway Cay, I'll be fine! (I could care less about Nassau, but I'm sure lots of people have plans for there).
Yes, we are definitely doing the FE (fish extender). I figure it's still a bit early, but for anyone not familiar with what this is, please just ask. It's a lot of fun, and is not required to be part of the group. We made some amazing friends on our cruise that we still communicate with (and at times get to see).

Glad to hear your cruise worked out in the end!Was there much motion on the ship? Thats really all Im more concerned with.. its the little ones that Im afraid would be prone to getting a little seasick, hopefully that won t happen! So the last cruise you were on did you meet up at some point once you boarded? We met up around 230 I think on the promenade deck, and we did the Fe , somewhere in around 26 cabins. My grandkids really got a kick out of all the stuff that they ended up with, it was a lot of work to but a lot of fun. Although for the 3 night cruise it looks as though its just me and dh at this point, even still I would enjoy doing the Fe even if its an only kids exchange. I hope this year flies by!:rolleyes1

We had smooth sailing except for one night. It didn't hit until after dinner and walking down the corridor, you really felt it. Looked on the tv and they said 15-20 foot waves. During the night I woke up and it was really moving and turned on the tv and they were 20-30 foot waves. But considering we went around a major storm, we were blessed with a beautiful cruise. And honestly that night was it (and it was kind of late, so maybe the little ones wouldn't have known).
We met up the first afternoon with some from our group. We ended up sitting with two families from our group at dinner and they are the ones we really got to know.
I think we had about 15 cabins in our FE and several of those were adults only (as we were), but we still were creative with the gifts. It was definitely a LOT of 'stuff' to bring on board. I guess I better start picking up things when I see them (I gave a lot of my left over 'goodies' to my teacher friends for the treasure boxes).

Generally i prefer six packs of expensive heavy dark beer :cool1:, and American Express gift cards. You know nothing much :lmao: Actually some people give out things that might represent their state (country) example: a key fob or post card or something inexpensive that is Disneyish. Groups usually put a dollar limit on the gifts so as to not feel obligated to go crazy.

Cathy,
We rec'd in our FE (and it was just hubby and I), some toys, pirate blow up ball, stickers/tattoos; but also rec'd some wonderful Lush products and even a beautiful necklace one of cruise meet made. (she made one for each of the ladies in our group). We rec'd a personalize handmade wooden photo frame with the 'Wonder' on it.
I made 'paper bag' scrap books for each of the cabins (and I'm only telling you cause I know there is no way I'll try that again, WAY to much work) and I'm going to school now and working, so a lot less 'free' time.
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i202/pjstev222/private/PICT0034.jpg
I know I bought glow sticks, candies, Pirate/Princess things; some Delaware postcards (to show where we were from) and I think we did Delaware quarters.
Just to give you an idea. I've heard of some FE groups that gave the 'adults' those tiny booze bottles.
There are many links of info on FE's and some of the gifts.

We'll be there in four months (and six days)! Nov 29-Dec4! Just hubby and I so we can enjoy the Christmas decorations. We are DVC members so we don't get the free dining (bummer) but find it such a good deal that we do buy it. I completely understand your daughter. We went to Disney December 2007; my son was a Junior and we took a week mid December to go visit our daughter who was doing the College Program at Disney (she would not be home until after the new year and we wanted to have 'our' Christmas with her). My son got special permission; but it took him forever to 'catch up'. He said he'd never do it again (so a students view also).
I am now in school (this trip was planned before I decided to go to college). I'll be out the full week before finals. I am going to talk to each of my professors at the very start of the class this semester to let them know and see what I can do to not fall behind.
We've used Airtran in the past and had no problems, but I do know they change their flight times frequently, but they are also good about accommodating you if the new time does not fit. As long as we travel with 'carry ons' we are fine. We just like the personality of the staff of Southwest.

I need to get onto the DIS more often to see what's the latest with the FE. I had one made for us last time. It has been in our 'Disney' pile, just begging to be used again.

We LOVED the spa (did the Exotic Rasual and the Rain Forrest room). Will definitely have to find a little time for 'us'. I heard about the spa for teens, it looks amazing (shame I don't have teens, well NOT really).
Ah the Erotic Rasul :cool1::thumbsup2:banana::woohoo::yay: and the Rain Forrest.

Welcome Joy! Isn't the planning for a first cruise exciting? I am going to use the same FE I had made for my whole family when we sailed last year, but I may just cover the names of my husband and daughter who will not be able to be with us on this trip.
OMG I am seriously considering doing a b2b as well, I am just trying to deal with the logistics of the entire thing, normally I would need to have been back in Greece around Sept. 1st (lol, obviously not going to happen) so each day later I am treading more and more on thin ice.....:rolleyes1

Deb, Is your daughter on break from school when you will be visiting the states? Oh, the thought of a back to back sounds amazing.
Hi Pat, yes, school starts here around the 10th of September (so we are assuming the 12th for 2011) It may seem strange for the Americans, but the school calendar in Greece seems to come out a week or two before school starts. I am sure that it 'comes out' earlier, but that is when we seem to learn things. My problem is that I am a private teacher (I teach English) and the tutoring school where I work needs me around from the first of September, to help get the classrooms ready, maybe to do a couple of private lessons, etc. Actually, my whole vacation next year hinges a little on how many extra private lessons I have outside of the tutoring school. Last year I worked 7 days a week, often pulling 9 or 10 hours total a day. If I am lucky like that this year, I will be able to manage the back to back. If not... I will start cutting things:scared1: But, we can 'Dream' can't we?;) I am also hoping for a strong Euro:wizard:
Thank you all for the warm welcome. I love the phrase "Dream Weavers"! I may have to use that.

Hello my fellow Dream Weavers! Is that what you all want to be called? If so, I'll update the title so others who join will know. I just mentioned to Dale that it's been quiet on here. We have 1 year 3 weeks and 6 days til our cruise! I'm hoping once it gets past the one year mark, things will fly along.
We have our trip coming up the end of November and Dale was mentioning all the 'things' we have to go through first, to get to that point! I'm thinking, we booked this trip at 11 months out and now we are less than four, so it's getting here!
Has anyone been following the various posts on updates on the Dream. I saw a post of someone taking a tour of the shipyard where it is being built. So neat to see it in production.
If I can find that link again, I'll post it here.

UGH, only a couple of weeks and we are back to school! I got spoiled not having any lessons for the past 3 weeks!
Ok, nothing else really to update here, except that the weather has been extra hot (normal) and humid (not normal). I remind myself that it is Florida weather and pretend I am walking around there! Somehow, it is not quite the same:confused3

Deb,
We've had an extreme year with the weather this year. This past winter we had more than 70 inches (yes seventy) of snow (thankfully not at one time, but several blizzards); We flew to Florida in January to do the Disney 1/2 marathon and it SNOWED (tiny bit) but sleeted most the race. It was crazy cold, actually colder in Florida than our home in Delaware (and the 'snowbirds, older people in the northeast US, travel to Florida in the winter for the warmth)! We've had more heatwaves this summer than ever and several over 100 degree days. It's been hotter at 'home' than in Florida. It's like the US has gotten confused on weather this year.
We were at Disney in December 2007 (our DD did the college program) and it was so hot and humid. Last December, I had several friends get married at Disney and it was down right cold for some of them. It's so unpredictable. I hope for 'cooler' weather so it feels 'Christmasy' when we go.
The schools around her start the end of August or very beginning of September. I go back to class on the 23rd (I just started taking college courses this summer); while my dd doesn't go back to classes until August 31st.
Well, I better get back to work, or I won't have a job to help pay for this cruise! Have a great day!

Cathy,
We rec'd in our FE (and it was just hubby and I), some toys, pirate blow up ball, stickers/tattoos; but also rec'd some wonderful Lush products and even a beautiful necklace one of cruise meet made.
Great ideas. I, too, would like beer and American Gift Cards, but I would settle for jewelry :). I'm sure I can come up with some creative things. I live in Florida, so "Florida" type things may not be too exciting. By the way, where do you get the actual fish extenders? Do you make them?

Something to help you while you "Dream" for the next year.
DREAM WEAVER
(sing to the tune of the same song)
Disney Dream
I've just closed my eyes again
Climbed aboard the Dream weaver ship
Captain take away my worries of today
And leave tomorrow behind
Ooh Disney Dream
I believe you can get me through the night
Ooh Disney Dream
I believe we can reach the morning light
Float me high through the oceans blue
Maybe to an astral plane
Cross the oceans of fantasy
Help me to forget todays pain
Ooh Disney Dream
I believe you can get me through the night
Ooh Disney Dream
I believe we can reach the morning light
Though the dawn may be coming soon
There still may be some time
Float me away to the bright side of the moon
And meet me on the other side
Ooh Disney Dream
I believe you can get me through the night
Ooh Disney Dream
I believe we can reach the morning light
Disney Dream
Disney Dream

Hello! We are (kinda) back in Athens getting ready for back to school! (Yuk, if I want to pay off my vacation before I go it means back to 7 days a week, 4-10 hours a day) I only hope I can find that much work!:rotfl: Anyway, way to go Disney for releasing free dining! I was hoping for it to start August 14th, but ok, I'll take what I can get. SO, we are booked from the 19th to the 28th at Pop Century. Why the 28th? because I actually bit the bullet and booked the 4 night before this one. I must be insane! Actually, my daughter practically begged me too. She hadn't realised we were sailing on the Dream! She must have thought that I was sick and sadistic showing her all the Dream teaser videos :confused3. I don't know. So, here's to the students (and teachers, for that matter) among us: Good luck on your next school year!:wizard::cheer2:

Deb, I'm so jealous of you adding on to your cruise.
I just went back to school this summer. We booked our upcoming trip to the World back in January and this cruise back in March, BEFORE I decided to take the plunge and go to college. I'm missing the last full week of class the end of November. Then looking at the college calendar for next year, I'll miss a week right after the semester starts! I hope my teachers are understanding.

1 year equals 1-Thanksgiving, 1-Christmas, 1-New Year, how many inches of snow, 1-Easter, 1-end of the school year, maybe a graduation, 1-fourth of July, 1-fall-winter-spring and summer come and gone and finally the start of a whole new school year. When you look at it that way it seems like a life time away. :confused3

Pat, is Dale a 'cup half empty' kind of guy?
One year means 365 days of anticipation
"Will I actually try the escargot this time?"
"I wonder when they will be posting the first navigators."
"OK, I still have a year to lose a couple pounds."
"I must remember to order a mickey bar, I can't believe I haven't tried one yet."
and I could go all night (not to say year) thinking about every wonderful moment!
When you plan and 'dream' about it, it almost seems as if we are already there!:cloud9:

Good for you! I want to run, but I'm so slow it's more a snails pace. Dale likes to run with me, but he's got legs way longer than mine, so he can walk while I'm exerting all my energy 'running'! Our dd who is cruising with us next September is a runner. She made it into the NYC marathon for this year, so she may be real interested in the Castaway Cay run.

Yep!!!!! That was the tail end of Hurricane Earl. The oceans were very rough coming out of Port Canaveral. (We nicnamed it hearl, for obvious reasons) Rough seas doesn't bother us at all, but I felt bad for alot of those that were on their first cruise and nervous of rough seas. That was the roughest weve ever experienced and we sailed past another hurricane in oct 2008 and way rougher than our Transatlantic.

We are staying at the cbr for 6 nights before the cruise, with the grandkids starting back to school this was the only option with staying at disney as well. Also now have a friend joining up with us, it will be her first cruise and first trip to disney. Dh and I are booked on the 7 night eastern Jan 29 . just the 2 of us for that one! Im just a little nervous about the cruise on the dream with the weather, its got me wondering if we should change the date to December when the kids are out of shool for xmas holidays, especially since this is a first time cruise for the rest of my family other then 2 of my granchildren we took last November. I guess its just a hit and miss and have to hope for lots of pixie dust for calm seas!:cool1:

First off, sorry you had to cancel your b2b. Some day we hope to do one, but it's just too much right now.
As for canceling the September trip for December, it's a personal preference. September is a LOT less expensive than December. We worried about the storms the year we cruised and flew in the day before to be safe, but it looks like you'll already be in Orlando for your pre-cruise trip. Other than the one night when it was real rocky, we never knew there was a hurricane out there. We had beautiful sunny skies. It is hotter in September than December. unfortunately. Hope you don't cancel, but I can understand your fears.

I guess its just a hit and miss and have to hope for lots of pixie dust for calm seas!:cool1:We originally had the same question about December versus September, but ultimately decided September would work best. As the pp mentioned, the cost is significantly different. We would have purchased an inside stateroom in December for about the same cost as our verandah room in September. Also, in terms of weather, I was more concerned about December snow storms than September hurricanes. We get ice storms in North Carolina, which makes driving tricky. And for those who would be flying, airport delays could put a real kink in your plans! Cruise ships can always navigate around storms, but it's hard to navigate around ice and snow! In addition, I was very concerned about being confined on a cruise ship during flu season in December. So for all those reasons, we chose September, even though my daughter will be missing the early part of the school year.
But it is a personal preference, so best wishes with whatever you choose!

well so far I think we are gonna stay with August and hope for the best,it is a better deal and we are getting a balcony which if we chose December we may not have gotten. Im probably worrying for nothing as it really is only the grandkids Im worried about being scared. But then again they will be having so much fun they may not even take notice lol:goodvibes Thanks for all your comments I do feel better after reading them:thumbsup2

We have cruised several times just after labour day and don't let hurricane season bother you. We think its the best time of year to cruise. Our experiences have shown us that if we get into rough waters the captain and crew has sailed us through them tosmooth water with in a few hours. We have also experienced the crew while navigate the ship to stay away from rain. So there's always Disney magic happening!
No worries.....

All right ladyleslie!!! Good for you on deciding to do the back to back......were doing it as well!
Our family had no problems with the rough seas, we had an early sitting for dinner so we were in the dinning room filling our faces while others were being sick.......
Its good to be sailing with you too again, I must say the FE group lat months was crazy considering there was only about 5 of us.
My family will always jump at the opporunity to do FE, as your listenig to our CD we have got the home made DCL piggy bank (not sure who made it) in our kitchen for all of our next cruise(s). Always looking forward to our next cruise.
Were waiting for DCL to announce there 2012 dates so we can make /transfer (the dummy date we booked in sept) . I think will book the week before labour day 2012 again. Great time to sail! The earlier you book, the cheaper it is.

Welcome Ladyleslie! I agree with you on the 'what the heck' part. I too hem and haw at times that I won't keep the back 2 back, but I think we all know in the end things have to be really drastic to cancel a DCL cruise!:rotfl: Anyway, come what may this leg of my vacation I won't cancel, no matter what. Also, as luck would have it, I will be up in your neck of the woods the last week of July! :hippie: Welcome aboard!

It sure seems quiet here. Did anyone catch the float out? I watched a time lapse on YouTube. It's so exciting! I was also excited to hear about the shows, but not so excited to hear about the 75$ Remy price tag. WOW! I bet is an unforgettable experience, though.
I am hoping to book a dummy date when on the cruise for a med cruise sometime in 2013, or even 2012 if I can work it out, but I will have a daughter starting University then (hopefully!) so I don't want to commit really to anything. I love the anticipation!:goodvibes

Welcome to our group Jackie and Tarin (and families)!!!
Jackie, our dd will be 23 and our ds will be 20 when we cruise, so it's good to know that there will be some others their age.
Tarin, Hope you had an awesome cruise and hope you'll share some of it with us.
I'll update the first post. If you haven't given me your info, please post it so we can put names with 'disnames' when we meet.

Greg, welcome. My hubby is on here too, but I made him get his own Disname, lol. If you have any questions on abbreviations, just yell. We all had to learn somewhere. We had a veranda on our first (and only) Disney cruise two years ago. We kept trying to keep our trip next September 'affordable' but we had to finally break down and upgrade to the veranda. I think you'll love it.

Welcome to all our new friends.:cool1: It seems like forever before the big day, but i promise you when it arrives it will arrive quickly. If that makes sense. Has anybody started planning on when they are arriving and where they are staying before the cruise?:confused3 Several years ago for our first cruise we stayed at the Radisson at the Port. It was acceptable. Nothing great or bad. It was just for the one night and a place to leave the car. As our "Dream " starts to materialize we should plan on a meet up.

I am about half way in planning my activities for before and after the cruise, meaning I know pretty much where I will be sleeping each night for the month prior and how I will be travelling from place to place, but not details yet like sights, parks, etc.:hippie::cool1: We will be in NYC for about 10 days end of July, beginning of August (well, Staten Island, actually. it is considered nyc, I think :rolleyes1) I haven't figured out which day to go to the new Disney store, but when I do I will be there 3 - 4 hours at least! :rotfl: Then we are off to the treasure coast for another 9 or so days, then a 3 night on Carnival with family, then 2 weeks in Orlando, then the dream on the 28th!!! Yes, I have decided to keep the b2b! I tell my daughter that we won't need to eat our first 3 weeks in America, because we will eat so much the last 2!!! (QSFD at Disney). After the cruise we have to skedaddle (sp?) on the first bus transfer out of Canaveral because we have an early flight booked back to Newark, NJ. via Detroit!:confused3 who cares, it was cheap! :lmao: Anywho.... Those are my plans and I am willing to meet with anyone who will be at the same place at the same time:laughing::dance3: (why isn't there any drinking with friends smilie? :confused3);)

DH finally received the vacation picks for next year so we were finally able to book. We were originally trying for the 8/25 cruise but they had no room for what we wanted but DVC helped us find a room on 9/1
We upgraded tp a balcony room this is our incentive cruise for Adding on.
So we will be going from WDW to the cruise.
Excited to do this.

Hi all, just booked for this trip yesturday but my booking is still just "on hold" I have 4 days left to make my deposit.I went on 1 cruise before and that was in 1994 in June,we did go through a storm then but we were so tired from clubbing the night before we slept through it.I really want to do this trip with my daughters (7&10) but am getting cold feet about the hurricain season. Are any of you regular cruisers for this season?Anyone that can talk me into this would be great :)
I accidentally came across 2 videos on youtube during storms that freaked me out alittle. One was just footage of a Disney cruise and the water splashing out of the pool but looked rough and another was some other cruise line and a rescue copter was filming as it almost capsized....has that ever happened on a Disney Cruise?I am worried about traveling alone with 2 little ones in an emergency like that.:scared1:

Thanks! Hello all we are The Giannotti's My name is Dara I'm 40 and a widow.I will be traveling with my 2 daughters Cecilia(10) and Gracie(7) (those are the ages they will be on the trip) Grace is a cancer warrior and we are taking a big family vacation to celebrate being off all treatment for a year as well as both their bdays.(they are in June but we decided to do a big trip instead of parties)
I have been to WDW various times during my life as well as my honeymoon,my 1st time I was 13YO.I took the kids for their 1st time while we were in Jacksonville fl getting Grace radiation treatment at the Proton center in June-July 2009,Because of the circumstances I felt it was very importanat to make sure she got to see magic kingdom so we went for just 1 day. Then we went down again over halloween/jersey week in 2009 thanks to Make a Wish.We are due down there in Jax for a check up in Aug 2011 so can't go to Florida with out a trip to see Mickey! We will be at WDW from Aug 25-31st at CSR before heading to the Dream .
I never considered the cruise but my daughter saw me looking at pictures and begged to go so I cut our original 10 day trip to WL down to make room for the cruise :) We can't wait!
My mom Karen (Banik) may also be joining us she is checking with work tomorrow to see if she can get the time off

My mom Karen (Banik) may also be joining us she is checking with work tomorrow to see if she can get the time off
I sounds like you really deserve to have a celebration indeed! So happy to have you with us!

A word of warning to all you new Disney cruising "Dream Weavers", if you look closely on the sides of the Disney cruise ships there is some writing in very fine print.:scared1: The government has made Disney print a health warning on their ships. It says something to the effect that upon entering the ship people have experienced an euphoric effect that seems to last 3-4-5 days and sometimes longer.(side note; after 4 hours you do NOT have to see a doctor) Grown men and women have been known to somehow lose their sense of maturity. (They have been seen wearing funny red hats with black ears even though it's not New Years eve and dressing up as Pirates all together on one day). Children actually enjoy spending time away from their parents during the cruises. People have taken on a lethargic attitude during their trip:goodvibes and finally people have, ahem, gained in girth. If you find you have any of these symptoms run, don't walk, to the nearest phone and sign up for another cruise before you revert back to reality. :cool1: Don't say i didn't warn you:laughing:

Virginia, welcome to our group. We are looking forward to the cruise.
We just got home last Monday night from Marathon weekend at Disney. Dale and I did our first full marathon. What an amazing experience! The blisters are healing and my swollen feet are getting back to normal and I'm actually considering doing this again! I really enjoyed it more than the 1/2 with going through all four parks. I was bad though and only trained to 15 miles (I've been in school, working and dealing with family issues) so training got pushed to the back burner. I want to do it again and do it right. (not sure I'm actually thinking clearly, cause I said (as hubby did), "One and Done" afterwards!
I've started back with school, so dis time is more limited. If anyone comes across a link to the newest photos that came out recently, can you post it here (I couldn't find it). I know the first cruise is coming up so they'll be lots of pics soon, but I'm dying to see what it looks like.

Welcome from us too! You cannot imagine how happy I am to see that another 15 year old DD is coming along! mine will be excited to hear that because on our last cruise there ended up being no teens in the meet group :upsidedow
Hi - Just found this board and will see you all on the Dream! We are: Liz and John ("Decked Out"), and DS16, DS15, and DD13 (although they will be 17, 16, and 14 at time of cruise). We were on the 11 day Christmas cruise to Southern Caribbean (left 1 month ago today!) which was a BLAST, but you can't imagine how much luggage a family of 5 needs for 11 days with 2 formal nights, 2 semi-formal, 1 pirate, tropical night, and all the Christmas stuff to boot! We had an enormous FE group (65!) which was practically a full time job, and a huge suitcase with nothing but FE gifts. But other than the luggage, it was a fantastic cruise. There were many teens, and that group had a wonderful time with some special events of their own - a Homecoming Dance, for example. Also, we were the first cruise (I think) to try out the "Wave phones" which are the new cell phones that work on the ship and on Castaway Cay. They were terrific.
Anyway, now that I have finally unpacked from that trip, we are now looking ahead to our Dream cruise, and happy to have found a DISboard for it!
Looking forward to meeting everyone, and of course not needing 10 suitcases!

I know VERY little about fish exchanges... I know the basics, that families give each other surprise gifts. But what sorts of things do they usually give and is it only one time you give? Curious if I can get myself together to do it. Sounds like fun - thats for sure....but I have been sooooo busy at work and it will onyl get busier as spring and summer come....hmmm.....

Thanks for the warm welcomes!
To you Marathoners, we have been volunteers at the Disney Marathon weekend for years. We do both days, either bag check, water stop, or check-in tent. You runners are an INSPIRATION to us (we?) volunteers! Last year's weather was so cold and awful, but this time it was lovely. Good job to all finishers, and even the "attempters"!
We had a very large DISboard group run the Castaway Cay 5k on our Christmas cruise. DCL apparently no longer gives out certificates or water bottles for finishers, but one of our DISboarders printed and mailed adorable certificates to the runners. I hope we can get a group together on this cruise for the CC5k.
To folks concerned about the weather; we have had rough seas on 2 of our cruises (in December and January), and 20 foot seas on this last one (to the point where the Captain had to announce that we were in no danger, despite the loud crashes and bangs of waves breaking against the ship). All the water flew out of the Goofy pool! :scared1: It was a bit rocky, yet if you stayed in the center of the ship, it was pretty stable. We have a few in our group who are prone to sea-sickness, and even they were fine without any medication. The Captain slowed us way down and made it much better, then made up time during the night so we were reasonably on time for CC.

Wow, a 5k? This may be the motivation I need to finally get off my behind and start getting in some semblance of a shape! I am the type who gets out of breath running for the phone in the same room. So, any advice as to how to begin? Is there time? I have very little free time, but may be able to follow a simple program. Can I start training by walking? :rotfl:

Debbie, an awesome program for new runners is C25K (couch to 5K). It pretty much takes someone who hasn't run at all and teaches them how to get started. At the end of the nine weeks (I believe it was nine weeks) you should be able to run (or run/walk) a 5K.

Walking is EXCELLENT training. I know this because all I do is walk (not run), and yet when I went to "try" the CC5k I was able to run almost all of it, although at a very slow pace. Our DISboard group formed a "Back of the Pack" club ("BOTP") and had T-shirts printed, etc, so there was a huge group of walkers-only, and then some others who alternated running and walking. You are allowed off the ship first, with the crew, and the course is a very pretty loop around the paths of CC. No one keeps time, so it is very low stress and at your own pace. Some of our BOTP folks cut off some of the loops to make it shorter which they prefered. So it is a very fun thing to try, and no worries if you don't actually run, or go the whole way. It starts and ends at the ship. :yay:

Our DISboard group formed a "Back of the Pack" club ("BOTP") and had T-shirts printed, etc, so there was a huge group of walkers-only, and then some others who alternated running and walking. You are allowed off the ship first, with the crew, and the course is a very pretty loop around the paths of CC. No one keeps time, so it is very low stress and at your own pace. Some of our BOTP folks cut off some of the loops to make it shorter which they prefered. So it is a very fun thing to try, and no worries if you don't actually run, or go the whole way. It starts and ends at the ship. :yay:

Oh my Liz, I love that idea (back of the pack) as I walk way more than run. I'm only 5'4" and hubby is 6' and I have SHORT legs, so i have to really move even walking to keep up with his stride. There are a lot of walkers in the 1/2 and full marathon also.

Jeff and Val will be on board too.
We were originally booked on a 10/6 3-night, but decided that we preferred to be at WDW for the Food & Wine Festival then. So we just switched to this cruise. TA is doing the re-booking right now.
This will be our 4th DCL cruise. Did a 7-night in 2001, PodCast Cruise 1.0 in May 2010 and PodCast Cruise 2.0 in December 2011.

Welcome!!!! I wish I could go on PodCast 3.0 since they are finally having it at a time that I am off work, but it will be so hard to justify spending all the money to go back to America again within one year! If only I could know if Pod Cast Cruise 4.0 was also going to be in the summertime!

Val & I will be on PCC 3.0. I'm expecting that PCC 4.0 will be in December 2012, and yes, we'll probably be on that one too!
