We'll be staying at AKL this thanksgiving, and have a savannah view. We've visited ALK for dinner a couple of time, and are very excited to be able to stay there this fall.

Any special tips or tricks when checking in to this resort, or are there any hidden features or amenities to try out?

Take the time to walk the different trails of the resort. There are areas all through out the trails to view the animals and displays of African artificats through out the trails.

Read the Dis' AKL FAQ thread. (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=68312) And also check out Dreams Unlimited Travel's AKL Information Webpage. (http://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/resorts/AKLodge/index.htm) Don't forget to check out their streaming video footage of the resort.

My family enjoyed Jiko's and Boma's restaurants, so consider them for your dining needs. Oops! I just re-read your post and see that you have already tried them out for yourselves! ;)

Enjoy the AKL! It is wonderful! Wait until you walk in & say WOW! Take advantage of all the resort has to offer. We took the lobby tour & went to storytelling one night. If these are available, I highly recommend both. Plus walk around & talk to the CM guides - many are from Africa & enjoy talking about the animals, their culture, etc. Have fun!!

They have different activites all day long. From feeding the flamingos to cookie decorating at Boma's and storytelling. We stayed at the resort all day long and still didn't get to make all of the activites because we were having so much fun swimming in the pool:D
