I want to take my DS on the 2-hour Capt. Marvin's snorkeling trip, and would prefer to do the first one in the morning. The Magic is scheduled to dock at Grand Cayman at 7:30AM. Will we be able to get off the ship and get to Capt. Marvin's by 8:15 ??

P.S. What time does Topsiders open that morning? Can't snorkel on an empty stomach! :)

Anyone? There must be a previous western cruiser out there who can clue me in on this one?

Thanks...

BeanoC,
We've already booked this excursion for 8:30 thinking it would be no problem to make it in time. Now I'm a little concerned. I was going to e-mail Captain Marvins and find out what there response will be. I will lwt you know what I find out. We have another excursion planned for the afternoon and this is the only time we could do the Stingray tour.

I was wondering the same thing since we are doing the early Capt. Marvin in Sept. I went through the trip reports and came up with this one.

Seems like they made it with a little time to spare.

Wendy did the 10-1 half day trip. (That's the one we booked)

I was on the 5/11 Western Cruise and I still have my navigator. It says arrival time 7am, approx all ashore 8am on the front page. Under Activities & Entertainment it says 7:30am-Independent Guests not on Shore Excursions please proceed to the Walt Disney Theatre with your entire party when ready to go ashore. Independent guests will be issued a tender ticket and will be seated until the next available tender. If I remember correctly-they let all the DCL excursions on 1st then everyone else-so it may take a few tenders before there's room for nonDCL excursion people. We did Capt Marvin's in May and it's at least a 5 minute walk from the pier (but it's probably too close to hail a cab-you could probably walk faster than how slow traffic moves). I would have to say that making the 8:30 excursion would be pushing it-you'd have to have everything go right with no delays.

I've seen several posts about Capt. Marvin's snorkeling in Grand Cayman. Is there a website? How does it compare with the shore excursions offered by the DCL? Thanks

Truthfully, I asked Ruth at Capt. Marvins. She said that they have had no problems with DCL folks making the tour. I asked "What If"? She said that they would work with us getting on a later tour that day. I hope I get to meet this nice lady. Her e-mails are always pleasant.

Ruth told me the same thing. She said they have never had any problem with the Magic passengers making the 8:30 tour. That makes me feel better !
